    nice tip on thebup and down LEDs. i had no idea. Is it OK to just stuff the LED driver in there? I saw someone say to mount it to metal to help dissapate the heat.

      It would depend on how much money you want to spend. You could buy cheap $50 kit that has a short warranty period and may break in short time, resulting in more money spent in long run, or can look at headlightrevolution.com at the GTR LED lines, note they are expensive, but they have no fans, and lifetime no questions asked warranties, which keeps you covered. Best of luck

      Check if the fan is working properly. This happened to me before. When the fan stops working the bulb automatically turns off to protect from burning up

    • @MikeVarga

      I know this is an old post, but like dodges, chevy uses a computer controlled power system (Canbus in Dodge) which checks the draw/resistance on each circuit. Your LED bulbs have exponentially less resistance and draw which throws an error condition which the truck attempts to resolve by resetting the connection thus the bulb flashing. When the truck returns the same error condition it creates a failed condition meaning the bulb is turned off to protect the electrical system from further 'damage'. The solution to this is the purchase of a resistor or capacitor pack, depending on the need of the truck. The pack plugs in line between the headlight lead and the light, and provides the appropriate resistance to convince the truck that things are working correctly. From my vendor, these were the part required. www.headlightexperts.com/lighting-accessories/headlight-experts-custom-gold-resistors-decoders

    does it matter if the headlight housing is a reflector or a projector when installing these leds? let me know thanks..

    • @slushpuppyninja
      @slushpuppyninja 7 років тому

      If you're from the UK I know for sure you have to have projector not reflector as it blinds people otherwise

    • @derekremington8807
      @derekremington8807 6 років тому

      HID and LED need to be in projectors. Reflectors are only designed and approved for halogen. It comes down to where the filiament is and light dispersion. Since led chips are not exactly the same as halogen fillaments, and on two sides it doesn't disperse correctly. The headlight will look "cool" but the glare to oncoming traffic will be horrible and others including police will hate you. Not to mention all of that scattered, not properly alligned light is wasted and could even be worst than stock halogens in certain cases. Use projectors, it aims, and focuses the higher output of light from LED and HID properly, giving you best driving experience, without pissing everybody off. Also if you do upgrade, always remember to realign your headlights. Check out CARID.com as well as Protuninglab.com , they sell projectors headlights for just about any car. Best of luck

      Derek Remington Hi - late post but I installed some LED Projector bulbs in my BMW for the first time and I can’t see anything on the road at night, this must be wrong positioning right? But how do I know which way to position it because I had 4 sided LED chips, any idea would help thanks

    Why do you need a fan for an LED bulb? It should produce less heat than a halogen blub.

    • @Dubst3pT3ch
      @Dubst3pT3ch 7 років тому +1

      They don't brightness wise, but LED tend to glare less. I would still recommend doing a HID projector retrofit the right way and going the HID route.

    My question is if you are such a specialist, why do you make a comparison between the leds and a intentionally misaligned halogen ?
    i'm guessing you are selling the leds and obviously you think the everyone is.....not so smart.

    I thought you were not supposed to touch the bulbs with your bare fingers.

    • @mikem8916
      @mikem8916 8 років тому +4

      Don't touch halogen bulbs because of the high heat in the bulb itself. Skin oil can cause the heat to concentrate in those areas and uneven heat can cause the bulb to rupture.
      LEDs generate heat (less) toward the rear of the bulb which is why the fan is there to draw it out.

    This is wrong LED high energy headlights should ONLY be installed in a projector. Same goes for HID.

      +jackson barry the light is dispersed and refracts off everthin. It needs to be focuses. Lots of info on net about this.

    • @MikeVarga
      @MikeVarga 6 років тому +1

      LED and HID are different beasts completely. HID are a cylindrical bulb resulting in bright light all around. The 'hot point' is often outside of the ideal location resulting in 'scatter' of the excess light into oncoming driver's eyes. LED as installed IAW this video, are naturally shuttered because of the use of only the top element, resulting in the light only reflecting down toward the road. This creates a natural 'cut off line' across the top limit of the light with no light entering oncoming vehicle's vision range. If the bulbs are installed properly, there's no issue, and the demo shown here is correct.

    • @venomx4093
      @venomx4093 5 років тому

      @@MikeVarga My LEDs are installed in clear reflector housings. The cutoff is perfect. LEDs in projector housings suck. You are correct!
