    I bought the cougars for my 17 Nissan Rogue. They are quite a bit brighter than the OEMs. They fit perfectly and I have had them for a little over a year now. I did have to aim them down a bit though. I tried several other cheap Amazon bulbs in some of my other vehicles and I've been most happy with these. I know they're cheap, but I've been happy with them and would recommend them to others.

      Hi Benoit, I know the VW models can be tricky, on top of the H7 bulb adapters. I would reach out to DeAuto group, as they test in specific VW models and can provide a precise recommendation that will work in your vehicle. If we get that headlight housing in our lab though we'll see if we can find something that works well.

      Thanks nitrous07me! We havn't tested longevity of the LED kits. I would presume they should last longer than halogen bulbs because of the technology. Because they are small brands, their reliability can't be confirmed for sure. The best bet is to check out the Amazon reviews before purchasing. I hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

    So on the beam tag what happens if the fan stops working is there going to be like a total meltdown in the whole housing will melt and catch on fire or how does this work

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  Рік тому

      The fan is to keep the diodes (LEDs themselves) as cool as possible for optimal cooling. It depends on the brand, but what we have seen from lifespan testing is when the fan stops working, the diodes go into a low output mode (but still work). The output is just reduced to some degree.

      @BulbFacts  2 роки тому

      Hi Nemo, that's the LED's driver typically, which you'll have to use. If there is an additional 'decoder/anti-flicker/etc' module which has both size connectors on the end, that would be optional and only needed if the LED flickers or you see dash errors.

      @BulbFacts  6 років тому +2

      Hi Old Timer! We noticed during our testing that some LED kits have a yellowing to parts of the beam. It appears to be coming from the yellow LED itself. Kits that have quality LEDs like Philips don't seem to suffer from this. We tested one of the Lasfit kits and they didn't perform well, towards the bottom of our chart. Check out some other brands for better performance, and look for 3 or 4 small LEDs in a row on each side, instead of just one, as that mimics the halogen filament. Thanks!

      The thing with lasfit is which series you get, the L1 and LC6 are the cheapest and will give you a little better than halogens. The LA series would be the lowest end I would go, much better light out put with good beam pattern, the chips are placed correctly to mimic the filament placement. The top end LS series use the lumileds Zes chips and work great, near perfect beam and great down road light with a great hotspot. One size I had a hard time finding a correct replacement for was a 880 for my fogs, the chip need to run left to right with them facing up and down, only found two manufactures that make them correctly and that is morimoto 2 stroke 2.0 and eisenke, so if you need that size then they are it.

      @bigtruck guy you definitely get what you pay for. I bought a cheap set for my work truck just to see if LEDs would even work, 2018 F-150 , Ford's are known to have some really wierd issues with LED lights since they use PWM on some vehicles, strangely even the same model can come different ways depending on options, I also have DRL's that can not be turned off. seller had a discount code for $30 off so they ended up being $15 so I thought why not, amazingly they work and are such a improvement over the stock halogen crap bulbs they come with.

    with headlight dust covers on newer cars, how with the fan keep the bulbs cool? what would be a recommended LED lightbuld for light assemblies with dust covers? I have a 2014 Dodge durango and there is one.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 років тому

      Hey jonnny148. That's a great question, but the LED bulbs run much cooler than halogen. The fans are to simply keep the LEDs themselves (diodes) as cool as possible to maintain maximum brightness, as LEDs dim as they warm up. The fan does a great job lowering the temperature by utilizing the cool air at the back of the headlight. Hope that helps!

    • @johnnny148
      @johnnny148 5 років тому

      @@BulbFacts, i understand that the fan lowers the temperature of the LED, but my question is...how will the fan cool down the bulb if there is a dust cover and no air to move around? I want to get some LEDs for my Durango, but won't spend the money if the fan will overheat because there is no free air in the dust cover.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 років тому +1

      @@johnnny148 they use the air inside the headlight to cool down. They don't get nearly as hot as a halogen. It's best to keep the dust cover on. You will lose some brightness as the LED runs, but that is the nature of the technology as LEDs are very sensitive to heat.

      Hey 2pacnasgame, yes most cheap LED kits look good in the headlight itself, but the actual beam and light focus down the road is poor. They are like fog/flood lights more so than actual headlights. Halogen can cost more because of the manufacturing process and precision that goes into the bulbs, and then of course packaging and marketing, whereas LEDs are many times rebranded over and over and sold with 0 marketing cost (unlike OPT7 for example). @BulbFacts  6 років тому

      Hi Gary! You may want to look into an aftermarket dust boot cover for your truck. I would recommend keeping the cover on in order to keep debris, moisture, etc. out of your headlight. The LEDs with a fan actually don't get too hot (around 90F), much less than a halogen in fact, so the fan is really just cooling the LEDs themselves, so even in an enclosed housing you don't have to worry. If you run a fan-less LED type you'll want to be careful as we tested those to get up to 160F+. Thanks!

    For the sealight s1 LED bulb. I am trying to find how many lumens each bulb emitting. I bought them and a little disappointed on the brightness. I checked to see which is better. Yes the sealight has the nice blueish color but it is not brighter than the halogens. It seems to be the same output on the bright side but different on the color side. I just want to know what the number in the lumens output numbers.

    Does beamtech need sonething to prevent flickering of DRL? And does the fan cause static on car radio?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 років тому

      Hey Mark, the Beamtech's tested well on our CANBUS systems, but some more sensitive vehicles may need an additional capacitor to trick the computer. There is no fan on the Beamtech model we showed in this video, but LED depending on the Hz can interfere with your radio. If that is a concern it's best to look for models with external drivers as they seem to be the least interrupting, but we will be doing further testing on RF interference in the future!

      Hey BikerTrashWolf! During my testing I havn't had any issues with the fans, so I can't say for sure how long these kits will last. They weren't even bright enough for me to notice they were on, next to my factory HID low beams. I love the 6000k color of my HID's and want my high beams to match. Hey TB Squad! Unfortunately since most of LED for automotive is aftermarket, there isn’t any solid recommendations for application. But if you check out LED chart we tested them all in a reflector (high and low) that should give you a good idea on how they will work out. The Hikari Ultra is the best kit today we tested for high beams but is about 6500k. The Alla Lighting is still very good and closer to 6000k. Hope that helps!

    Just to double down, do you think the temperature of the Beam Techs with no fan cooling would eventually be a problem?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 роки тому

      Hi Gary, fanless LEDs seem to last as long as their fan counterpart, however they are typically not nearly as bright as the fan keeps the diodes cooler so they can ramp up the power to them for better output. If you have a sealed beam headlight I would go with a fan model rather.

    How would these lights work in a snow storm. Would they cut threw or just reflect off falling snow ?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  6 років тому

      HI Derek! Because of the higher kelvin temperature, they won't perform as well in bad weather. There is a kit however that we recently tested call DWVO (amzn.to/2vGDjrs) which can switch between white and yellow, and that would be recommended in snow, rain, etc, especially for fog lights. Keep in mind though that if you have a good beam, it will perform much better than a bad beam LED where you will get a lot of scatter, like turning on your high-beams in snow. I hope that helps, and thank for watching!
