drewmorg thanks man and agreed with getting the good shots. In the next day or two I'm uploading something that will blow this video out the water. Will be showcasing what one can truly achieve with the footage
Showing your grading process would be amazing. Pretty much everything you list in the description :) "Graded, denoised, added motion blur, propeller lens shadow cleanup". Also, were you flying "live" while doing this, or did you set a path with another app? (ie. Litchi) The flying seems perfectly smooth. I struggle with that part greatly.
Mostly the drone initial settings, then the main steps on what you did in post - (Graded, denoised, added motion blur, propeller lens shadow cleanup). Would be sweet. Cheers!
I totally agree - subbed and would love to see a grading/export settings tutorial. Mavic has a pretty flat Dlog and it's hard to get it back to such vibrance - you've done an excellent job mate!
The color grading on this video is absolutely stunning. I don't know how much of it is the LUTS but honestly, there's a reason people are going crazy about this video. It is absolutely magical. Good job, we're all looking forward to your tutorials! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep on creating amazing footage!
Glad you appreciate this style. Its always good to allow the viewer to absorb what is happening in the shot with content and grade without distracting with fancy choppy edits :)
Yes!!!! Pleeeez. Tutorial on this very video. I got those vivid series filters you were talking about and they solved the problem. But seriously this is my favorite video of all. I keep coming back to it. Something here you did was special and different from the rest. You must elaborate on the video 🙌
SwissTec excellent. I find it works better when the issue is over picture information. For example if you see it in clear skies then it doesn't work, but if ya over detailed areas with trees, rocks, building etc it then works better. Love to see your results. Keep me posted 👌
its very easy to spot the differences when the dji's camera was using 'flat mode', which will look kinda grey. The footage is nice, but I believe it could be graded better, as it looks a bit hazy, too much white color
Neat video denoiser. Has a remove artifacts feature and it must be on temporal reduction. It wont remove completely but definitely helped a lot here. Rather just get a nd16/pl filter and you wont have that problem. Keep in mind that filer is for normal daylight and not lo light filming
Excellent flying and cinematography. Spectacular location and scenery. You just picked up another subscriber. Please share more details on your Mavic, gimbal and camera settings.
Many thanks. I'll give that a try this weekend. I can't stop watching this clip; it's absolutely outstanding. I'm looking forward to seeing what you post next.
Hmm.. any particular reason to pick dlog in these circumstances? Dlog seems to create additional noise in the shadows, and the dynamic range at dusk is actually comparatively lower than during the day. Why not just use none? Also kind of curious about the choice of -3 contrast and -3 saturation. From some testing I've done on the P4P (albeit with an older version of the firmware), -contrast didn't impact the clipping points, it merely squeezed the same information into a smaller IRE range. Perhaps that was fixed at the same time DLOG was fixed though. Need to test it further.
ProCinematicFX hey I wanted to let you know when I finished the video I made (with my drone) from finding this song from your video...its the latest one on my channel if you get a chance(:
Hey Matthew, I just watched it. Very cool man. Did some nice work in the video and managed to get good picture with the slowmo drone shot. Usually there are pretty bad artifacts. Its with the Mavic right?
Thank you. Motion blur is a characteristic of film. its a great way to get closer to that filmic look. All high end visual content generally aims for this :)
Awesome video! I'm really glad Dlog has been fixed. How did you fix the prop shadow at 2:12? The graded footage doesn't seem to have the issue on the bottom left like the ungraded footage. Great job!
Holy cow this is beautiful. Question, at 2:13 there is a slight flicker in the bottom left of your ungraded shot. My mavic will do that too. Any knowledge on what it is. I tried looking on UA-cam and can't find too much info about it.
Chris Ruel thanks for the feedback. I used neat video plugin however it only works in certain situations. That flicker is the propeller shadows. You won't see that with a nd filter
BlueHouseFX woaaaah! Thankyou so much!! I want to make edits like this all day long and seeing that it could be done that good with a mavic, gives me huge inspiration. Appreciate the advice!
Chris Ruel you're very welcome. Do you need some advise on what no filters you need for what situation? My recommended filters would be the PolarPro vivid collection. Very good filters. They are combo nd and polarizers in one. So you have the best of both worlds when using them
Awe that's perfect!!! I'm pretty knowledgeable about the logic behind them, but regarding the mavic and good filters for it, I have know idea. Thanks. I'll take a look at them! In general what did you use for this video. Seriously long term goal is to contribute to NatGeo, and this inspires me to achieve it!
I would set it at 0 sharpness. I tried out all the settings and I think -1 does resolve sharpness artifacts but make the tress in a far distance blurry. You can my channel to do a comparison.
Amazing video! The best I've seen recently. Could you let us know what settings have you used from the drone itself? And then if you used some kind of LuT or what have you done in post? Thank you, do more!
Cali Cutler good question. I really don’t know and haven’t really thought about it. I would have a wild guess and imagine a person in the USA could charge in the region of $1000 to $9000(for a movie) depending on what it’s used for on a commercial level
Its just practice. If you need help then let me know. I can perhaps make a tutorial if I have time. Just mention wht you would like to learn and I will see what I can do :)
Beautiful footage! Where is this fabulous place? I just received my mavic: could you share gimbal settings for smooth footage like this? Thanks, I'm subscribed and hope in other videos!
Absolutely stunning work! please, If you are so kind, share how you did the editing of the video. I am going to purchase the Mavic Pro now. It's been months of wondering which is is best for me.
awesome!! Love it if you do the tutorial about color grading and how you make it so smooth recording this? I tried one of my friend's mavic, the flying isn't that smooth ;( *or maybe I missed something*
I know Log settings are different and idk if you're familiar with the S-Logs on Sony cameras and I wanted to know what you think is closest to this Log ? Beautiful footy man.
I would say regardless of trying to match in camera, rather get as much dynamic range from all your cameras so there is flexibility in post to match. So always choose the profile on on cameras that have the most dynamic range :)
hey your mavic footage is the best I've seen! great job! i subbed to you and I am delighted for upcoming videos! so you did just film 2.7k? you didn't up- or downscaled or anything like that?
+the_unknown_culprit thank you so much for the grading compliment. I always film in 2.7k. From that point I sometimes upscale with a plugin called "instant hd". This is the best upscaling method which I have found. Although upscaling isn't really necessary from 2.7k. Does this help?
As of the propellers lens shadow cleaning using Neat Video plug-in ; are you using a special profile or particular reduce noise parameters? Thank you for all the information you have already provided.
+João Rosa thank you my friend. For the most part every shot is set different as they all have different noice profiles. Neat video also helps with compression blocking to a degree. Let me know if this helps you :)
Nice stuff! Do you expose d-log to the right? Overexpose between 1-2 stops? Somehow I can not find any information on this online... Coming from Sony and slog-2 I'm just wondering if the workflow with d-log is roughly the same? Thanks!
Great stuff. A lot of people are bagging on the Mavic for it's footage quality, but you prove it can be done. Do you have some sort of a blog/vid about your workflow? I'm specifically curious as to how you denoised the footage. I think that's my biggest hangup right now. Edit: Ahhhh in your low light video you're using Neat.... Gotcha. Is Neat worth the price in your opinion?
Spectacular footage! I was wondering if you used a ND filter with your +1 sharpness -3 contrast -3 saturation settings? and if you did which one did you use? Thanks!!!
justrbloke they work by themselves with most editing applications. There is a pack that you can get that works with neat video. You can choose. Which packs are you interested in? 😎👍
Loved the video! Sorry for the noob question, why not record in 4K instead of 2.7K? Advantages, or some other reason. I'm shooting in 4K. Also, SpectrumGrades recommends 0 to +1 sharpness, -3 Contrast and 0 saturation. Are your settings applicable to the latest SpectrumGrades LUTs? Thanks.
Hi Bushido, thats a good question and have discussed this matter quite a bit. The reason is that the compression ratio on the 2.7k is better than 4K with the Mavic. There is less compression blocking in 2.7k which allows for better grading. The difference is small however if you want the most out of your footage then film in 2.7k and the mentioned settings in the description. These settings are perfect for the SpectrumGrades presets LUTs. So when you apply the presets luts you just do a few minor adjustments to get the look you like that suites your style. Which packs have you got or getting?
Cinematic Color Presets LUTs for Mavic Pro and Mavic Air ➤ SpectrumGrades.com
Mavic Pro Noise Profiles ➤ SpectrumGrades.com
What song did you use for this? I've heard it in a hasselblad camera promo before.
I bought the noise profiles. But the mentioned program is a trial. What program can I use for free to use my noise filters? Please help.
You need to buy 69$ Neat Video Plugin
kroaax yeah but its 69 dollars....
I understand. As far as I know, this profile is "neat video" only.
Best Mavic footage I've seen. Period.
drewmorgan thank you 🙏🏻
Agree with @Drewmorgan too. What bitrate do you use for final export to UA-cam?
drewmorgan export to prores 4.2.2 for youtube. It's a big file 👌
drewmorg thanks man and agreed with getting the good shots. In the next day or two I'm uploading something that will blow this video out the water. Will be showcasing what one can truly achieve with the footage
BlueHouseFX wow can't wait!
would you be able to do a tutorial and your post production?
Im actually thinking of that. Any ideas of what you would like to see?
Fahad Qureshi thanks guys. Yes I'll do some tutorials. Have to get over being camera shy 🙈
Thank you Harry, yes the grading makes a big difference and worth using to step up the footage quality. Did you see the tutorial I posted recently?
Amazing! Easily the best video I've seen yet for the mavic. Good stuff man!
+Tyler Burtis ah man. That's really awesome. Will upload some more stuff soon. Any post production ideas of what you guys would like to see?
The dynamic range is just unreal. Great product!
Yes thats because it is D-Log footage to work with. It definitely is part of the steps to get to these excellent results. Have you got a mavic?
Sick footage!!! Editing was awesome, by far the nicest grade I have seen so far.
Douglas Thorne thank you for the awesome comment. Much appreciated. How are you with grading footage?
I have graded the HD footage from the Mavic and am very happy! Look on my channel for the New Zealand Mavic Video.
Excellent. Have you tried the SpectrumGrades presets?
The thing I love about this, is there's no fancy flying. The content is doing all the talking and not the drone.
Glad you appreciate this style. Its always good to allow the viewer to absorb what is happening in the shot with content and grade without distracting with fancy choppy edits :)
Was thinking about upgrading my phantom 3 for the Mavic for a while now. This video has convinced me. Best drone footage I've seen on UA-cam! 😍
+All5! That's awesome. Also remember there is a lot of post work being done. Keep that in mind my friend :)
+All5! It's totally amazing. Have fun with yours new Mavic my friend
BlueHouseFX thanks buddy! Already flew it a few times, still can't get over how amazing it is :)
it seems to be massively improved! great samples!!
Misael David thank you. Yes it's much better
Never seen Mavic footage look so good!... Love to see more !
Yes!!!! Pleeeez. Tutorial on this very video. I got those vivid series filters you were talking about and they solved the problem. But seriously this is my favorite video of all. I keep coming back to it. Something here you did was special and different from the rest. You must elaborate on the video 🙌
Great work! Absolutely stunning shots!
Thank you so much. Thanks for joining :)
Some stunning footage from my home town. Lovely grade!
Super well done dude, congrats!
Thank you so much Alber
I don't usually comment but this is beautiful work you just got a subscriber!
+Charles Butler thank you Charles. Have you got a Mavic? If you do you can get a lot of tips from the comments here :)
+Charles Butler thank you Charles. Much appreciated 👌😎
At 2:12 you got some propeller flare on the unedited file. How do you remove that?!
SwissTec with neat video my friend but it won't always work :)
Thanks! Will give it a try.
SwissTec excellent. I find it works better when the issue is over picture information. For example if you see it in clear skies then it doesn't work, but if ya over detailed areas with trees, rocks, building etc it then works better. Love to see your results. Keep me posted 👌
Going to jump start my channel back up. Been a while I haven't uploaded :)
SwissTec yes definitely do 👌😎 let me know when you upload
best DJI grading i have ever seen....spectacular
Thank you for the awesome comment. It was great to work with amazing footage to start off with. Lucky to have been given them :)
Keep this up! Your footage is incredible! Putting out a few tutorials would definitely go a long way in helping fellow Mavic flyers!
Wow. This is crazy dude!
Some of the best drone footage out there, mavic or other wise.
+The Film Poets thanks buddy. Wanted to email you to chat directly. What's the best way we can chat?
matt at thefilmpoets dot com
+The Film Poets awesome man. Will message you in the morning when I wake up. Chat soon 👌😎
never got that email. just wanted to let you know!
@thefilmpoets you guys are pretty amazing too, so a fantastic compliment @ProCinematicFx 😁
Crazy visuals, can’t wait until mine arrives!
omg this footage is so beautiful !!
Thank you for the love :)
just subbed, this is the best DJI mavic grading I've ever seen, would absolutely love to see a tutorial on how is this done.
+Conghao Xu hopefully soon my friend. Just a matter of time. Thank you for your comment
that first scene feels almos like CGI, different planet from Avatar or something. This is the best drobe footage on YT in my opinion. WANT MORE !!!
Los Daniellos B thank you for the kind message. I just saw this now and replied to your other message. Did the tutorial help you? :)
Awesome example. Well done. Thanks for sharing your settings!
i Completely agree that you do an tutorial on your post production. This look amazing!
Awesome footage! Great job
slicstur thank you very much. I really enjoyed grading the acquired shots 🙏🏻
Nice scenery, footage and color grading.
Simply stunning!!
Thank you Kearress. Glad you love it :)
Incredible footage!
+Kelly Beem hey Kelly, thank you so much 🙏🏻
damn... looks amazing! Thanks for sharing
Rosa Park thank you, it was great fun grading the footage. I must commend the filming from the person who donated all the footage 🙏🏻
Superb footage
JC Entertainment thank you 🙏🏻
its very easy to spot the differences when the dji's camera was using 'flat mode', which will look kinda grey. The footage is nice, but I believe it could be graded better, as it looks a bit hazy, too much white color
How did you work with the flickering effect around 1:55?
This is National Geographic quality. Awesome job!
Thank you Fredrik, really love this comment big time :)
Great footage 👍
Nice color camera.
I do enjoy the correct shutter speed. Good footage!
and whats the exact name of the plugin? This looks really good :)
Tony LaPron revision:motion blur 👌😎
Hey, nice Video!
Could you tell me the trick to clean up the shadow of the propellers, please?
Neat video denoiser. Has a remove artifacts feature and it must be on temporal reduction. It wont remove completely but definitely helped a lot here. Rather just get a nd16/pl filter and you wont have that problem. Keep in mind that filer is for normal daylight and not lo light filming
Think you could do a Neat Video tutorial?
Excellent flying and cinematography. Spectacular location and scenery. You just picked up another subscriber. Please share more details on your Mavic, gimbal and camera settings.
Thank you. Everything is in the description, but if there is any other info then let me know so I can help :)
BlueHouseFX thanks. I'll switch back to the Dlog profile and try it with +1/-3/-3. Did you use any LUTs?
Mike Nowacki yes make sure you use a denoise plugin to in conjunction with the +1 sharpness it's very important this workflow to get the results
Mike Nowacki also I would rather recommend 0 for saturation. So your settings should be +1/-3/0
Many thanks. I'll give that a try this weekend. I can't stop watching this clip; it's absolutely outstanding. I'm looking forward to seeing what you post next.
Hmm.. any particular reason to pick dlog in these circumstances? How did you add the motion blur back in?
Revision motion blur :)
Wow what amazing footage. One day I hope to grade as good.
+Lee Wilson I'll hopefully be able to help if I get my head around doing some tutorials 😎
where did you find the song? seems like an interstellar remix.
Great video, well done.
+Thomas L thank you Thomas ;)
Nice fly and color correction.
Fantastic color grading! Would love to get a tutorial with your process!!
Hopefully soon my friend :)
ProCinematicFX Nice!! ;)
André Pilli!
Incredible, show's if you really put the time and effort you can get some incredible footage, thanks for the post.
+Joseph Kinyoda you are very welcome. Will be posting more stuff soon :)
I got the luts. Which profile? A, B C...?? used here.
Did you use motion blur instead of ND Filters to keep the shots looking smooth and not stuttery?
Amazing video. You make me want to buy a mavic pro :)
Thank you for your kind comment :)
This is perfection.
Thank you kind friend. Appreciate the love. I couldn't have done it without the great sponsored footage. Creds also goes to that person :)
Song: A Thousand Years - David A. Molina
You guys are awesome :)
ProCinematicFX thanks a lot & yes with the mavic
Awesome, yeah the Mavic has its issues but what a wonderful machine :)
Clifton Beach, Cape Town 😍😍😍 Epic! I'm so lucky to live close by ☺
Hey :) Nice video! Why do you decrease saturation and contrast to -3? I've seen people do it but not sure why
nice video man, looks great. could you give some insight on how and why you appield the blur? more the how
Thank you. Motion blur is a characteristic of film. its a great way to get closer to that filmic look. All high end visual content generally aims for this :)
I know the song is from Hans Zimmer -Interstellar but if anyone knows this remix please let me know! Much appreciated
SAME PLEASE HELP
Jordan Faretto did you find it ? 😩
I realllllllllly need for a huge project I'm working on...if anyone can help please do! Shazam doesn't know! :/
it is David Molina a thousand years
Michael Wahba YOU...my good sir, ARE A SAINT!!!! Thank you!
Thankyou, besides magnificent flying skills a very nice production. Where is the???
what is this place?
Awesome video! I'm really glad Dlog has been fixed. How did you fix the prop shadow at 2:12? The graded footage doesn't seem to have the issue on the bottom left like the ungraded footage. Great job!
Thanks, I used Neat noise reduction plugin
There is a feature called remove artifacts and use temporal reduction on 5
Holy cow this is beautiful.
BlueHouseFX 😌 polarizer, says it all 😝. Thanks again man
Wow, this is awesome! Great video and work with the post production :) How did you add the motion blur?
Its a plugin called revision moton blur
Amazing. Just wonder why is it that the trees in my d-log looks blurred? It doesn't look that great. =\.
Liping Lin just change it to +1 sharpness ;)
I see. some guys suggest to use -1 sharpness though =\ wonder why.
Liping Lin I hv the same problem
This solution seems too simple, but did you focus? I normally use -1 sharpness. I havent had an issue with blurry details
I would set it at 0 sharpness. I tried out all the settings and I think -1 does resolve sharpness artifacts but make the tress in a far distance blurry. You can my channel to do a comparison.
This is beautiful
+Wndll Jhnsn thanks. Appreciate your feedback buddy :)
Amazing video! The best I've seen recently. Could you let us know what settings have you used from the drone itself? And then if you used some kind of LuT or what have you done in post? Thank you, do more!
Would you mind sharing what you might charge a company for footage like this/ about this length? :)
Cali Cutler good question. I really don’t know and haven’t really thought about it. I would have a wild guess and imagine a person in the USA could charge in the region of $1000 to $9000(for a movie) depending on what it’s used for on a commercial level
wonderful spot, wonderful editing and grading, I just wish I could do the same with my mavic 😊
Really great work. Are you using any ND filters on the lens?
What was the song?
Did you overexposure footage when you take footage by 1 or 2 stops?
Absolutely stunning work! please, If you are so kind, share how you did the editing of the video. I am going to purchase the Mavic Pro now. It's been months of wondering which is is best for me.
awesome!! Love it if you do the tutorial about color grading and how you make it so smooth recording this? I tried one of my friend's mavic, the flying isn't that smooth ;( *or maybe I missed something*

I would say regardless of trying to match in camera, rather get as much dynamic range from all your cameras so there is flexibility in post to match. So always choose the profile on on cameras that have the most dynamic range :)
Hi! In what location was this fantastic video shot?
Amazing post
That’s freezing cool 👍🏼
Where was this shot? The place is beautiful.
hey your mavic footage is the best I've seen! great job! i subbed to you and I am delighted for upcoming videos!
so you did just film 2.7k? you didn't up- or downscaled or anything like that?
+the_unknown_culprit thank you so much for the grading compliment. I always film in 2.7k. From that point I sometimes upscale with a plugin called "instant hd". This is the best upscaling method which I have found. Although upscaling isn't really necessary from 2.7k. Does this help?
i love the color grade! would also love to know how you did all that
+cheeze.staxx media thank you. One can achieve a decent grade in both Davinci and premiere. This was done in Davinci
As of the propellers lens shadow cleaning using Neat Video plug-in ; are you using a special profile or particular reduce noise parameters?
Thank you for all the information you have already provided.
where the heck was that recording at? it looks magnificent!!!
How did you cleanup the propeller lens shadow? Having big troubles with that.. it's killing my best footage. Thanks!
Neat video plugin buddy, however it isnt a magic bullet and only works sometimes :)
Really great work..!!!
Thank you so much. Really appreciate it. A tutorial is coming out this week by friday. Let me know if it helps :)
awesome can't wait for more !!!?
Thank you. Did you see the tutorial I just made?
Nice job
so, this is with the .400 firmware update?
Small sensor size is quite a hurdle to professional grading in this. Hope for version 2 with a bigger one.
Yes with a P4P camera. That will be amazing but you know what they say. The best camera is the one you have on you :)
LOOKS GOOD DEFINITELY ON MY WATCH LATER LIST😊
Thank you my friend. This is awesome :)
Top quality my friend!! What were the settings in neat video? Have used it normally to reduce noise from dark images but never like this... Cheers
Thanks!
Usually the best results are at -0.3 on the ev meter. As a general rule, It maintains the most highlight information. Have you tried that?
Great stuff. A lot of people are bagging on the Mavic for it's footage quality, but you prove it can be done. Do you have some sort of a blog/vid about your workflow? I'm specifically curious as to how you denoised the footage. I think that's my biggest hangup right now. Edit: Ahhhh in your low light video you're using Neat.... Gotcha. Is Neat worth the price in your opinion?
Cody Olsen that's excellent. Make sure you learn some grading, denoising and editing. From there you are set ;)
Like a game! nice!
Great video...but...we need the tutorial! ;) I'm struggling a bit with color grading...any help would be awesome...
Spectacular footage!
I was wondering if you used a ND filter with your +1 sharpness -3 contrast -3 saturation settings? and if you did which one did you use? Thanks!!!
Looks super. What plugin did you use to give the clouds the PL effect in post ?
Jetspot Networks used a gradient grade on the sky with Davinci resolve
Do your LUT packages require the Neat plugin, or is that for noise reduction only?
justrbloke they work by themselves with most editing applications. There is a pack that you can get that works with neat video. You can choose. Which packs are you interested in? 😎👍
ProCinematicFX - all of them, for Davinci Resolve.
great mavic footage!!!!
Thanks.

Wow. I actually live on that mountain and I cant get anything like that output from my Mavic. Can I pop by for a few pointers?? I'll bring Wine!!
