What about Nutrition, Vitamins, Bloodcirculation... In Traditional Chinese Medicine they say Gums are realated to the Kidnesys. These tips here a bit cookie cutter. Do THEY REALLY UNDERSTAND the ROOT CAUSE....or the Sympthoms. Good old Western Medicine. Short Sighted.

There are a few more reasons for receding gums such as pre-diabetic condition - high level of sugar in saliva - constant eaters on carbohydrate foods that amylase enzyme in saliva turns them in to sugar within few minutes - not washing the teeth after sugary or starch since it takes a minute for starch to turn in to sugar in the mouth, habits such as too much coffee, caffeine and alcohol that deplete calcium, doing the last tooth brush late at night for late night sleepers, also personality issue related to unhappiness or accumulation of hidden anger and its negative force in the jaw.
Thanks, my gums have been recently receding big time these past 2 years. been drinking coffee daily for that amount of time
It is not easy to be a human at all. Normal lifespan would be good like 65 to 85 years. Goodbye teeth.
Sounds like me coffee drinker, satisfy sweet tooth now receding gums like never before 😢
Yes. Elsewhere stress is mentioned as #1 reason for gum diseases.
I’m 66, and my front lower teeth have a lot of gum recession, and a little bit of mobility. My 18 yr old asked if I could go back in time, what would I tell my younger self. Without hesitation, I said to brush and floss my teeth diligently. They looked at me and said “that’s the first thing you thought of?” Yup.
Ditch the sugar drinks, the junk food, processed foods, the gummies, the syrups, processed foods, Read Weston Price's research on societies before they got addicted to a Western diet. It would save him from cancer and all the fungus and mold created diseases too. Much more than brush floss and waterpik. No. 1 is the immune system. How? everything we ingest, inject, smell goes through the liver, the sorting factory. It is the only organ that can regenerate itself. Pretty amazing how we stupidly destroy it. Did he learn that 80% of the immune system is in the gut? 80-90% of the conditions of your health goes from the gut to the brain,10% from the brain to the gut via the vagus nerve. Sometimes our brains are so dumbed down by advertising and bad government and big brother guidelines. The brain can decide what to eat, but it is the gut that throws it out one or both ends if it doesn't like it. the upper computer does not keep it down or keep it in. The asshole is now in charge. and the brain better learn, for next time. For you, try swishing with wheat grass drink, if you can't stomach coconut oil pulling. an don't get me started with toxic fluoride in water, known to make teeth & bones brittle plus reduce kids' IQ by 10% (it's a neurotoxin).
I'm 78, have all my teeth, and want to have the mercury fillings removed. I muscle tested and my body energy does not like mercury slowly leaching into my body. Dentists should all be using composites for fillings. No mercury-silver amalgams. Unless. It's cheap. It lasts for life. It leaks mercury. It's a slow toxin.
I have Luekaplakia around several teeth for years. Gums are white and thick around these teeth. Receding slightly. Hyperkeratosis was what the labs stated. ENT says wait and see. Dentist has no idea. I've tried everything. Any recommendations would be great. Thank you

I lost my insurance and shortly fell into a really bad depression. After 7 years, I finally have insurance and I terrified about how bad it is going to be I know I need to do it. This definitely helped ease some of my worries.
I'm in a similar situation, just remember though - worrying about it is often worse than just putting mind over matter! Get your teeth cleaned by a dentist and talk about it, there are several ways they can help
You don’t need insurance to go to the dentist. Most dentists have their own plans for people without insurance or you can still pay out of pocket which is what I do which I personally don’t feel like it’s a lot of money for the basic exams, cleanings and some fillings.
I haven't had insurance since 19. (2015) then got it in 2019 had insurance but didn't use it....then lost it ....got another job hoping to get new insurance ..( was having wisdom tooth problem) ...then got fired.....then couldn't get insurance due to coronavirus lock down...then went to the dentist this summer and found out I have periodontal disease at 25 :( but I got wisdom tooth removed ... getting the others removed

Buying myself a really good electric toothbrush (even better than the ones I’ve used in the past when I was younger) was the best decision I ever made. I went through years of dental anxiety (I had to switch dentists for a couple years and had bad experiences), and once I went back to my old dentist and the anxiety went away, i knew I had to take better care of my teeth. I researched so many different models of toothbrushes, and I ultimately ended up buying a Sonicare diamond clean smart. Yes it has all the bells and whistles, but for someone who went through all the problems I went through as a result of the anxiety, it is worth every penny. I can’t see myself buying any other kind of toothbrush. I’ve noticed a difference in how my gums look, and while I haven’t noticed a difference in gum recession, my gums definitely feel healthier.
How much was that model? I live in California USA
@@jerrysanders9101 I guess it depends on where you live and where you get it from. What I got was the Sonicare Diamondclean Smart 9700 (or maybe it was 9600… I can’t remember. For the most part they’re the same). I bought mine from my dentist because it ended up being cheaper there than it was if I had bought it in any store (including Amazon). But I love it so much that when it eventually dies I will purchase another one. I’ve had it for almost three years and no problems yet. Replacement heads for it can be expensive, but I’ve found that if you alternate between the different heads that serve different purposes, you don’t go through so many heads at once (even the ones you use most frequently). I’d like it because there are all these different indicators on it, both in the app and on the toothbrush itself, that help guide you towards best brushing practices.
Is it an expensive electric toothbrush? Yes. But is it worth it? Absolutely
@@jerrysanders9101 Hi Jerry, see my post above. I live in California too. I have Amazon, Walmart, Walgreen's CVS Target. You can start out with a really good one for $5.97. I like Oral-B (1 AAA lasts a year or more). Colgate & other spin brushes, including kids' costs about the same. I now use a Fairywill and love it! USB to DC 5V cable charges it for 2+ months. My 2 friends use this now, and their $150+ Phillips from Costco are gathering tartar at the bottom of the sink. I also ordered a Waterpik travel model from Walmart for $25 (sale). (3 AAA). The Fairywill (~$25) doubles as a great back massager for muscle knots. Wowee!
I purchased a Fairywill on Amazon, $25. 40,000 sonic vibes per minute. 5 selections, 30 second pauses for a 2 minute job. Gifted 2 more to my friends & they love it more than their expensive Phillips from Costco ($150?). Especially travelling, no chunky base, just a USB to DC 5V cord. When I got mine several years ago, there were only a few sellers, now very poular item. Mine charged with a USB to micro (micro is obsolete because new phones use USB type C). Plus, I can remove the toothbrush part & use the shaft for massaging muscle knots in my back. Wow! Try it. The Boka from my dentist is 30,000, heavier & I have to lug a small but heavy charging base. Check Amazon. Or Walgreen's. I used Oral-B for years (still cheap $5.97). One AAA battery lasted a year. Very esthetically slim and light (doesn't stand upright). The spin brushes like Colgate worked well, but I like the artistic feel of the Oral-B. My son's family got rid of their Oral-Bs, got Phillips from Costco (perception is that expensive is better). Not so much.
My dentist said to use Waterpik so I ran across its travel model at Walmart and ordered it. Love it! I have to refill it. Then again, no chunky tube and open container or plugs cluttering up the bathroom. BTW, almost all claim to be "sonic." You have to try different models, because they have different brushes. Oral B 1000 uses rotary brushes, like the DDS. Save used brushes for face/ body exfoliation/massage.
@@sussanalee430 the brushes don’t spin, they oscillate.. I about figured that out when I was a little child..
A healthy body starts with a healthy mouth. Most people have no idea that most if not all diseases come from the mouth.
Bullshit🤤
Lies! You don't need a mouth! 😶
The gut the most part!!! And it goes all the way to saliva..
There is a very obvious correlation between gun disease and hearth disease. Its pretyy crazy and they dont understand why buy its there
I wish I could give this woman an award and hug I needed this so badly it’s driving me crazy everyday
Very informative video! .. My dentist identified gum recession around a few of my teeth and immediately identified the cause: years of using "hard" toothbrushes and most definitely brushing too hard.
Me too😭😭😭😭
Dak,
Solution: soft brush for sides of teeth & medium brush for tops of teeth.
Common sense 👍
@@bz3086 It maybe common sense to you and those who were raised with the correct way of brushing their teeth. But for those who were taught as kids to brush their teeth twice a day to maintain healthy teeth but were never taught the advantages of a soft toothbrush, and never knew of gum recession while growing up, then common sense has nothing to do with the issue. These things only become known years and decades later. It's like kids and candy. We tell them it's bad for their teeth and have them brush after consuming candy. But how may teach them that a greater threat looms - high blood sugar (diabetes) as they get older?
Me too. I find it so hard to stop but I use soft brushes (electric and manual) now. I take meds that give me dry mouth so I need to be diligent
Go see a periodontist
Congratulations on 100k! I'm so happy for you, well deserved! 🎊🎉🦷🦷🦷
truly appreciate you saying this! thank you so much for being here!
My dentists are useless, been to them so many times never advised me once on my receding gums. They just work on the problem at hand. All they are interested in is the money. They always charge for consultation and give you an appointment for another day. They make money twice of you. I thought lawyers were bad :)
I know right my dentist too never tell me what happen or how to prevent them, even when deep cleaning my teeth he finished in 30 minutes while i can still see my front teeth yelllow build up tartar plus it hurts like hell and some of my teeth bleed and cant clot properly for 3-4 days until i start taking medication for it. :) i cant eat with bloody teeth, trust me its very bloody
Get a new dentist, do your research and pay attention to reviews. I had the worst dentist experience (I got kicked out) and that scarred me from going to the dentist for years. But now I found an amazing dentist who evaluates everything in the mouth and I have such good experience with the cleanings which was always scary for me. Finding a dentist is almost as important as finding a good spouse, seriously.
Same said it was alright FLOSS. Useless
Same happened with me

Wow! I have received more relevant info from you, TeethTalkGirl, than I have from all the dentists and dental hygienists I’ve had over the last 70 years! Thank you so much for adding so much needed quality health care into my life.
I am definitely very guilty of aggressive brushing!
True
You're not alone... I tried soft brushes but they don't do much, my mouth still feels stinky like I haven't brushed @ all... until I went back to "medium" brushes.
I have had such problems with this and it’s terrifying😔 I keep asking my dentist how I can stop it from happening and they all say there’s nothing wrong! It’s been a few that have said that. The only cavities I get are where there used to be gums and now there’s not. I don’t understand how none of them have seen a problem. I did get an electric tooth brush and I think that has helped somewhat. But I’m so scared I’m going to loose my teeth and I’m only 25😩
There’s always dentures! Stuff happens but just do your best to look after your teeth.
If it comes to the worst case scenario, just make sure you’re making enough money and buy $20,000-$50,000 Full mouth dental implants. It fixes all your teeth and gum problems and looks like natural teeth, since unlike dentures they’re actually implanted into you
I am surprised that all the dentists I have spoken to also don't acknowledge this issue. I don't grind my teeth but I used to brush hard as a kid. I am 21 now and got braces again today. I will eventually try to switch to electric brush.
@@bellion9143 can’t implant teeth if your Gums are gone.

My biggest regret in life is not looking after my teeth... I am now on my journey to getting them fixed so I can actually eat properly. This video was packed full of info and helped a lot!
Good gums and teeth is the product of good nutrition. I was a vegetarian, then vegan for many many years. I had receding gums and weak teeth. My dentist said receding gum is genetic. He said gums don't grow back. As a matter of fact, he wanted to put some kind of cap or filling thing for 13 of my tooths at $300 each!! I basically said screw that. I did some heavy reading and research. Ditched eating vegan and went heavy on animal fats and animal foods, mainly beef and liver. Within 3 months my gums grew back and my teeth looks and feels so much stronger. I only brush with water. I never expected this, honestly. I wish I had before and after pictures. I ditched eating vegan because I learned that way of eating was completely based on fraud science. I never correlated good oral health to good nutrition. you can use all the fancy, expensive products out there, without good nutrition you won't have good oral health.
Wow yea.. man was designed to be a meat eater.. along with lots of good greens 🥬 it’s just basic health as you’ve proven.

So happy to hear you are caring for your teeth. I'm sorry to hear about the anxiety - but you got this! Here is my dental anxiety video - hope this helps: ua-cam.com/video/AzE0d5bjqTY/v-deo.html
Me too !!!!! You’re not the only one girl .
Hopefully my story can help you. I’ve avoided going to the dentist for a decade because the dentists have always been rough with my teeth and my anxiety got so bad I went through a long period of time when I was having nightmares about my teeth breaking. Then about three years ago, I noticed my teeth started to deteriorate, I had lots of tartar, dark spots, wholes I thought were cavities, etc. So I forced myself to make an appt with a dentist that my siblings used. The experience was horrible. I explained to the dentist my anxiety, particularly about the scaler and how that pressure feels like they’re ripping out my teeth, and the dentist wanted to show me how it wasn’t that bad. Well, it was so bad that I whacked his hand out of my mouth and he kicked me out of his office right then! I left crying and decided to do more research myself thinking I can be my own dentist. I did take off most of the (visible) tartar off from the space between my teeth because I held my own tooth to counter the pressure from the scaler. But anyways two years past and i had several teeth that hurt and I was convinced I needed root canals so I decided to find a new dentist, atleast for an exam and to see the conditions of my teeth. After avoiding the dentist for long, I was shocked I did not need any root canals, however I did need a very big filling that the dentist recommended a crown for. I did not want a crown especially because it was the tooth right behind the canine and that was visible when I smiled so o went in for a second opinion. Well, that is how I found my God-sent dentist. He is way more conservative on his recommended treatments (I feel like that other dentist probably recommends more invasive treatments for financial reasons), and he was a lot more thorough in his evaluation. I got that filling done easily without the crown and it’s been doing well even when examined 6 months later. I did have anxiety going in but I told myself I had to get it done otherwise my teeth will get worse and will end up at the dentist eventually with bigger and more expensive problems. You have to reason with yourself, it’s a mental thing. Yesterday I just had my first cleaning at this dentist office and the hygienist was great, always communicate your anxiety and any accommodations you need! For me, I feel like my front teeth are more sensitive and they were very gentle and caring about making sure there’s not too much pressure on those teeth. Also, find a dentist that uses the ultrasonic scaler, it takes off most of the tartar and I hardly felt it! It hardly uses any pressure as the regular manual scaler does. I’m shocked that I was able to push through my severe dental anxiety but most of that work was telling myself the consequences if I don’t start taking care of my teeth now. The second part was finding an amazing dentist. Do your research on all dentists within reach and read all the reviews! The reviews on my dentist were very accurate to my experience. I hope this helped. Know that you are not alone.
@@FLP90 same situation. Made an appointment for this upcoming Wednesday for X-rays then a deep cleaning. Anxiety is killing me right now. But like you said shit has to get done sooner. Ima request the ultrasonic scaler. I’d have bad experiences with manual scraping. That’s mainly the cause of the anxiety. This made me a feel a little better.
Me rn.
With a balanced biochemistry and proper nutrients, gum tissue and the bone that gum tissues resides on can absolutely grow back. Oral health is way beyond just "the mouth" and is a reflection of systemic health and what is happening biochemically. Nourish the whole mouth & body while you clean with Eucellus products!
Could you tell me more please, I over flossed and brushed now the gum between my front teeth is red and receded, I've been looking for ways naturally to heal and grow back, the only one I found was tea tree oil.
@@Noname-oo9gn Sounds like you have bad bugs in your mouth hence the inflamed red gum tissue, bad bacteria alone can cause gum recession. A short-term but fast result solution for you would be to continue to use essential oils topically that will kill/suppress your oral bacteria, or use a waterpik with a mild antiseptic in your water solution like iodine or hydrogen peroxide. Organ systems in the body are all connected and their efficiency status is highly vulnerable to the raw materials present in the blood that always need to be in homeostasis or perfect balance for our chemistry to work properly. If we go too long with a missing nutrient/s, our bodies then struggle with the regulation of other nutrient/s that turn into toxicity issues. For instance, you are probably having bacterial issues in the mouth because of a lack of antimicrobial compounds that naturally should be found in saliva, but your body is currently having biochemical nutritional/toxicity issues and certain cells are unable to function properly to synthesize a sufficient amount of these compounds needed to be effective against oral microorganisms and it's impacting your bone health too. A great long-term goal and effective solution for you would be to get some help from a health practitioner to understand your biochemistry and what is happening on the nutritional level to see what's missing or in excess. Eucellus offers focal nutrition therapy while you clean, it works on other levels too by artificially building the enamel and suppressing bacteria, but it's most effective when you know your biochemical nutritional needs and choose the correct product!
Wow thank you
@@silverhranch what vitamins should I take
@@cereal_qilla I can't really say without seeing test results from your biochemistry. Everyone has a unique situation and ingesting supplements that you may not need is only going to make your health issues worse. If you have oral health issues get a hair tissue analysis test and see what is happening with you on the biochemical level so you can address your nutritional problems intentionally. If you don't want to do that try brushing with Eucellus Maximum which has vast balanced form of nutrients that is similar to whole food with therapeutic levels of insoluble enamel building minerals that will strengthen your teeth directly and offer a ton of protection for the teeth.
man thanks for these vids my dentist told me I have gum recession few days ago and Ive been totally freaking out...i realized ive been doing a lot of things wrong
Dear TTG, you are a gift from heaven. Thank you. Your videos on homecare allowed me to totally reinvent my homecare and completely reverse gum diease and bleeding gums. It really happened, and you are the reason. Thank you.
I was flossing and brushing once a day. I was TRYING to do twice, but it never happened, due to the need to get going with my day immediately after breakfast. Then you explained why we should brush first thing before breakfast - that was revolutionary. Now I just get up and brush when I wake up (and before bed as usual) and now it's twice a day without fail. I also adopted the Waterpik, which is a miracle itself, and now I understand why using only string floss does not get my teeth clean at all, but the Waterpik can.
I'm 55, so I've already had a lifetime of dental care, cleanings, fillings, crowns and the like. I've learned that without dental care, your teeth will fall out. After all these years, I should have it sorted, right? Well, no, I still had a lot to learn. Only the TTG could convince me that there is a better way.
!!!!! thank you so so much for telling me this :) wishing you continued dental health!!! you are amazing!
Great information. Wish I'd seen this years ago. I recently had to have gum grafting done to fix my recession. Now I am fully aware of my brushing habits and am mindful when brushing & flossing my teeth.
How is your recovery? How long did it take? Painful after anesthetic wears off?
How much did it cost?
@@skk3940 I was surprised the recovery was pretty quick, about 10-14 days. As long as you stay consistent with your pain meds there is no pain. It is uncomfortable for the first day or two but I took a pain med just as i started getting feeling back to my lips. Thats when I knew the anesthesia was wearing off. I took tramadol for the first 2-3 days about every 6 hours. Then ibuprofen after that for another day or two as needed.

My dentist couldn't identify specific cause of my recession. Yes, I have a couple of severely crooked teeth but the recession is on most of my teeth - both front and molar ones. I use soft bristle brush, I don't have a gum disease. But my dad lost most of his teeth in his 30s....i feel hopeless sometimes. I don't want to end up with dentures at 40...
Sounds genetic
Could be genetic but try to see if your bite is aligned that could be one of the reasons!
Thank you, my dentist never explained any of this to me, just said I had it going on.
my braces pushed my teeth forward and made my gum recede so my dentist said i need a gum graft. But when i googled it, it scared me and there are so many conflicting opiniojs. Do you know how successful they are and if it's a good idea?
Same thing happened to me! I am almost done with Invisalign and I noticed my gums receding. Apparently, this is not out of the ordinary and gum grafting is expensive as hell. Like much more expensive than the Invisalign

I believe that a poor bite also contributes to clenching. If the teeth/bite are in an unnatural position either due to the natural growth and development process or due to unfortunate orthodontics. That will make it difficult to stop the recession process. Consider oral posture.
Thank you so much for the information! You are an angel!
Thanks, my gums are hurting sometimes, and now I know that I was brushing too hard.
Just got my braces off and I've noticed some gum recession. While having braces I made sure to get my annual cleanings I even paid for laser treatment to make sure I didn't get gingivitis or perodontis while having braces. I brushed after every meal with a soft bristle toothbrush, flossed and used my waterpik. I have no idea why I have gum recession I'm so stressed by it
Same. I don’t know what to do. Let me know if you find any solutions

My gum recession was caused by my jaw orthopedic treatment. My dentist told me that if your teeth have gone through significant movement (?) it can cause gum recession even years later.
Same
Super helpful and concise 😊
this was so helpful Whitney! thank you so much!! i have a question though: could stress contribute to gum recession? like maybe it wouldnt be a major cause but does it have some acute impact on the state of your gums?
Stress could make you grind/clench your teeth at night which could result in gum recession. Hope this helps ❤️🦷

Thank you for the useful information. I see a perio every six months. Different periodontists have given different advice and I try to self manage between appointments so the more knowledge I have the better.
I think one cause that hasn't been mentioned here is orthodontic work. You mentions ortho work as a treatment plan, but doing ortho in some people specially ones with thin biotype can actually cause recession. That was the cause identified for my recession. I did ortho to fix my bite, but instead, I trade it with gum recession. I had to do multiple rounds of gum graft to cover the roots and save the teeth with more graft coming in my future :(.
Awesome video! This is so me Stressed grin🤭 aggressive tooth brushing!🙋🏽♀️ I my hygienist informed me the proper tools to use,I’m better now.Whew🙋🏽♀️
Thanks for this production. How does bruxism, grinding, cause or instruct the gums to recede?
I randomly bought some Zyn pouches and fell asleep with them in several times. At the same time, I was trying to whiten my teeth by brushing several times a day, very aggressively and thoroughly. I also clench my teeth unconsciously due to stress. Now I have receding gums 😢
I needed this😭😭😭my gums hurt
Same😢
@@meh-_-9314 I’m currently trying out solutions with my dentist. Hopefully we both figure out how to fix our receding gums!
@@keepstrongliveyourdream3032 hows you did u find solutions
1) gum disease 🦠-deep cleaning 🧼 helps
2) poor home 🏡 care- not brushing enough
3) teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism)-
4) aggressive tooth 🦷 brushing
5) crooked teeth-braces or clear aligners
6) smoking 🚬 tobacco
This is great advice. However, I think dental fees are not within the means of most people these days.
agreed! regarding that, here is my affordable dental care video: ua-cam.com/video/CKHrWfEH9JI/v-deo.html
Agressive toothbrushing and crooked teeth 🦷 😢😭 Thank you Dentist. 😇
Excellent recommendations ‘visit your dentist 2 times a year’ 🤷♀️
You are so kind thanks for sharing. My 17 year daughter haa gums problems .like swelling on gums I am so worried
Did you take her to a dentist 🦷 for treatment? If not I would see a dentist in your area.
Friends gums receded from the surgical wax made from soybeans when she had braces. Possible there is still soy protein in the wax. Waxed dental floss is produced with a acidic chemical. As well as bacteria are the things I have noticed. The extra soft toothbrushes are extra nice for gum recession brushing.
Is it possible for the gum to grow back if well treated?
Congratulations on 100,000!
THANK YOU for being here :)
Nice talk. So professional
New subbie here and thank you for doing this video. I was an aggressive brushed for many years and trying to reverse the damage is hard but I have been working with my DDS and I have had some graphing done and will need more.
I have the same problem, I'm worried about having graphs done, mostly the cost in the UK
Very pleasant personality & well explained!

Very informative video available on UA-cam...I was wanting to know if gum recession can be handled at home ???
So glad I subscribed to your channel 💪🏽💪🏽... keep up the awesome work
thank you for being here! and commenting kind :)
I visit the dentist at least twice a year for cleanings and the dentist and hygienist never discussed any of this with me and I am 65. That is a lot of visits.
if you are already 65, and still have most of your teeth, then you are doing fine.
what you should worry more is Xerostomia.
Hi Whitney, what is your opinion on the BURST Sonic Toothbrush? Would you recommend it? Also, with my tooth front teeth - the gum is slightly higher on one tooth giving me an uneven smile, do you have any suggestions on how to fix this? Are there any surgical options out there for something like this? I would really appreciate your advice. Many thanks, George.
hi there! I think many patients can benefit greatly from BURST especially those who need an extra soft electric toothbrush. always ask your dental provider which toothbrush they feel is best for you. and there generally are procedures for gums - but again - always ask your dental provider to go over the benefits vs the risks for your individual case. hope this helps!
Thank you. I noticed mine are starting to recede. I travel for a living and its hard to find a good dental provider. I usually only find a Dentist when I have an issue.
I’m just at the very beginning of my Invisalign journey... hopefully I’ll have my trays in the next few weeks. I have a serious concerns about gum recession. I’ve heard that the action of moving teeth can contribute to gum recession. I currently use a soft bristle brush, brush twice daily and floss once daily (sometimes twice but I’m not consistent). I know all of this will increase once I get Invisalign and I’m worried about my gums. I’m also old (50+) so I don’t know if that will make my experience worse. 😬
I’ve always been told not to use anything harder than a soft toothbrush and I’ve only just heard of extra soft. Since I’m going to be brushing more often, do you think it would be better to switch to an extra soft? Will it clean my teeth well enough? Also, if softer is better, why do they make medium and hard?
Do you know about tooth powder? It's an age old habit in India where one's teeth is cleaned using one's index finger which is dipped in an ayurvedic tooth powder .The thumb helps in cleaning the back of the tooth effectively. One has to massage the gums apart from cleaning the teeth. Try avoiding the brush altogether. God bless.
Get a waterpik and use a 50/50 mixture of water and 3% hydrogen peroxide with a pocket tip to target the gum line and in between teeth. This turned my sore and inflamed gums around big time.
Wow! How I'd love teeth like yours, your very beautiful and your teeth are stunning! Can I ask what toothbrush you reccomend?
I have bad gum recession, i was looking at getting an electric toothbrush, the Io top of the range but worried it will make my gums worse. I think brusing too hard over the years caused it. I've had to have fillings along the gumline on my bottom eye teeth as it was so bad. I feel my top ones are heading in the same direction. I use a soft toothbrush now and don't brush hard but feel they are still getting worse. 😪
Please can you reccomend the BEST toothbrush to use? I need to buy one ASAP. THANK YOU SO MUCH 😍
LOVE the video!!!
As someone who already had gum graft surgery in their early 20s (it wasn't that bad but there were a couple not great spots to fix) I cannot understand why they even make hard bristle brushes. I only buy soft or extra soft but mostly just use an electric brush.
Probably for house cleaning. They should come with a warning not for teeth.
You are the best!
After 69 years of hard brushing with a hard toothbrush as dentists use to recommend I now suffer. How could they have been so wrong for so long?
right! same with cigarettes! we know they are bad now - but they still sell :(
Well explained... Really helpful👌🦷🙂
Could you do a video on what to do after eating. To prevent bacteria from producing acid. Xylitol gum , swishing water etc. And if there's such a way to remineralize teeth .
Green tea.

Vitamin k2 and d-vitamin, cod liver oil should also be good for teeth.
Salt water
Use mi paste
I was trying to find a soft toothbrush at the chemist, but found an extra soft one and bought it! Thanks for motivating me
Listen up ladies
I went through my second pregnancy and it completely ruined my teeth
I went thought so many different brushes rinses and paste! My teeth were so sensitive through my pregnancy it was absolutely horrid. I remember flossing one night and one of the teeth chipped from the backside! Some days were so painful and I couldn’t take anything for the pain. I’d brush for hours trying to get my teeth in good shape and to no help until 6 months after baby was born things finally started to ease up. I ended up with severe gum disease STILL after everything and now I have one tooth that’s dark at the gum line that drives me crazy. If you dentist will take you while pregnant have them clean your teeth with as little trauma possible because I found out the hard easy pregnancy is rough on teeth
Sounds like an inside job, and inside fix, rather than exterior brush floss waterpik. I did read that fetus is a parasite and it will suck all the calcium it needs out of us. I recall dear ole doc telling me to get 90 g protein a day, never mentioned calcium & other nutrients. After i gained 12 lbs a week, i quit that. Also I read that we only absorb about 25-50% of the calcium, depending on the type. Limestone, chalk, Tums calcium carbonate is the worst(cheapest). Magnesium and vit D along with zinc, selenium and other elements help digest the calcium, and vit K2 shuttles it into the bones and teeth and away from the soft tissues.
If you watch enough of these videos, you would come across coconut oil pulling(swishing to 20 minutes, UGH!) to help gums. Coconut oil is anti viral, anti-fungal, so it coats the surfaces & deters growth of bacteria. Like eating cheese (fat) before dessert. I am using wheat grass (powder in water) as a swisher. It has a lot more nutrients than oil. And I can swallow it too. They're no more gross than swallowing mercury from my fillings, or chemicals in processed foods, or Roundup in cereals, and other stuff in shampoos & suntan lotions "swallowed" by pores. Or worse, more mercury and aluminum through vaccines and bread and fake foods.
An end suggestion: look up muscle testing. I use it to check with my gut-body - (trillions of little cellular peeple) and 3x more parasite, virus, bacteria, germs, bugs in my immune-gut system. This (food) is good for me. My body-self will say thank you thank you for feeding me this. My gut loves it, my heart loves it, it is safe to eat. My teeth needs, wants this x times a day. Now, Peter Pan peter butter tests negative if it has trans-fat (hydrogenated) in it. Home cooked fried chicken would test ok, but KFC test negative (old, transfat oil). One piece -tests positive. 4 pieces - negative. Here's hoping this "woowoo" helps.
Omg me too!!!!!
Yes I got gum disease while pregnant too and wish I would have just went to the destiny smh. I got gum recession also and have a couple exposed roots. The root is a darker yellow color that’s probably what you’re seeing as well.
sadly, baby will suck the calcium and other nutrients from your body.
there really isn't much that can be done, other than eating enough for 2.
Thank You I just subscribed ❤ 😊
thank you so much for being here!!!
I wish you were my hygenist. Mine told me none of this. I just had deep scaling cleaning and a crown replacement
I had a graft done in my 20s prior to orthodontal work. No idea what caused the recession and it was held in check for almost 20 years when it started being a problem again. And still no idea why....I have good habits and had zero issues for 20 years. Recently they discovered bone loss and I had a deep cleaning. But my gums didn’t improve soI was sent to an oral pathologist and diagnosed with oral lichen planus. Been on treatment for that for just 1 week and see massive improvement in the gum tissue but they said it could take months to control it. In the meantime I have to have more frequent dental cleanings and once we get things figured out, I guess we see about another graft.
It was beyond frustrating to do everything right and still see bleeding, boils, and peeling. Glad to finally see improvement.
Hi doc, can you suggest what electric toothbrush BRAND you suggest us to use ? And what types we should be using? The Oval / Circle head?
My daughters horizontal tooth hidden above front tooth due out today in hr... Vids r scaring me so searching this for my teeth. Thanks
You’re just amazing Whitney! Very well explained video 👌
thank you so much!!!
If you have thin gum tissue, orthodontic treatment can also cause gum recession because teeth movements make the gum thinner and therefore, more likely to recede.
I’ve had severe bruxism ever since I was little. I’ve tried every mouth guard otc and from dentists and orthodontists. I’ve tried reducing stress, although over the years, the stress has increased immensely. I’ve tried limiting and even cutting out caffeine. I ground off my sealants when I was a kid, 4x before they gave up on putting them back on again. When I would spend the night at friend’s houses when I was a kid, they would always make me sleep in a different room, usually downstairs in the living room and they’d say they could still hear me grinding. My 4 year old God daughter who can sleep through an earthquake woke me up once saying I woke her up from 2 rooms away and asked if I was okay cause I was making weird noises with my mouth (grinding) and it was hurting her ears. I cannot seem to figure out a way to stop.
Plus clenching during the day. All day, every day. I even have severe migraines because of this.
I’ve never really been good about brushing, but it wasn’t until my early 20s that this started to hurt me. I never had a cavity growing up and my sister, who was very on top of brushing would always get cavities. Into my early to mid twenties I started getting cavities and she stopped. I developed really bad TMJ after I got my wisdom teeth pulled and had to get a molar pulled because after 3 visits, I couldn’t keep my mouth open long enough for a root canal.
I tried getting better with brushing but never really could form the habit. Into my mid to late twenties, I lost dental insurance and became homeless when I was 30. Brushing my teeth was REALLY not on the top of my to do list especially since I knew my teeth were already so messed up. Finally made it into a dentist about 2 months ago because I have been in excruciating pain and I can see most of one of my molars has decayed away, and they did X-rays and a “check up” on my teeth and told me I have OVER $25,000 worth of work I need done including pulling a bunch of teeth, root canals on most all of my teeth, and would probably need to pull my front 6 top teeth, etc. It’s really difficult to say, oh well let me drop a couple years of my income to get my teeth fixed, while also trying to figure out a bed to sleep in most nights. It’s to the point that it HURTS to brush my teeth so even if I do have the opportunity to be able to, I still don’t because so much is gone from my teeth, my gums are swollen, receded and sore, so much decay and constantly grinding and clenching. Not to mention I haven’t been to a medical doctor either in almost a decade.
Any advice on how to fix my teeth for less $$, especially since I’d have to put half down to book the appointment and the rest due at the appointment. It’s gonna be ~$600 just to pull the 2 molars that are bothering me so bad and that’s an entire month of what I make. (I don’t feel like I need to say, my credit isn’t the best either, so there goes that idea.)
Just looking for some advice on helping my teeth before I completely give up on them, I’m about to just let them all fall out and get dentures at this rate, but I’m only 32 years old. 😔
I brush with baking soda, and a mild kid's toothpaste, and sometimes with salt. I do use an electric toothbrush, and it's so much better! it's like a massage on your gum's. I also use a few drops of olive oil and swish it around my mouth for a few minutes, and this has really helped my gum's, too! I previously had an infection, and I used diluted vinegar with a bit of baking soda, and would swish that around for a few minutes, too, and it cleared up the infection within day's!. Also a micro current device rubbed softly on your face where your gums are helps relieve pain, as well! Good luck, and all the best+
I have worked in dental for 19 years. My recommendation would be to check if there is a dental school in your area, the cost is significantly less however it does typically take longer to get an appointment and the time spent in the chair. Another option would be to search your area for offices that do charity work or community service. Some dentists will take on a certain number of cases per year at no cost or sometimes just for lab fees from the patients.
I too have dental anxiety..
Light fawn. Was very interesting. Please tell us if u use any type of vinegar. White or apple cider. Thank you. Like wise I use a soft toothbrush and once a week bicarb, and if a gum hurts I use few drops of oil of cloves on the toothbrush with my toothpaste. If gum really sore drops directly on area for few days. Then brush. Plz note do not get it on your lip, its too strong, and will burn.
@@SunLightFawn gotta be careful using vinegar. But I guess only a few times won't hurt. But you really shouldn't use it. Also, don't rinse after brushing. You're not supposed to. If you feel you need to spit a little more, you can use a very tiny bit of water. Just enough to wet your tongue a little bit. But do not swish and spit, you literally rinse all the stuff that should help you.
Probiotics for the teeth have been wonderful for me. Replaces the good bacteria toothpaste and mouthwash kill....
Congratulations on 100k!!!! You so deserve it!!!
