Loaded with professional features, the Yamaha TRBX604FM offers incredible value in a bass guitar. A classic tonewood combination of solid alder and stunning flamed maple delivers punch, bite, and sustain by the truckload. A comfortable 5-piece maple/mahogany neck combines excellent playability with superior tone and stability. Experience maximum sonic flexibility, by way of the TRBX604FM's YGD H5 pickups and audiophile-grade active/passive 3-band EQ. Beyond that, a high-mass die-cast bridge and innovative headstock design provide optimal vibration transfer and tuning stability.
If a Sweetwater sales rep tells you an "alder body will help you stand out in the mix more," you should request a different sales rep.
Yamaha always make solid products. Nice tone too. Perfect for jazz, rock and more.
I have the TRBX305. They're great instruments.
I came to my store to buy this guitar, I left with a Ibanez SR655. Sound soo good !
Bass player with a treble clef tattoo...makes sense.
Kemet First I actually do have a bass clef tattooed on the other side of my neck. :)
why are you making personal comments about the guy? It's a bass demo
@@zafira976 Could have been a guitar player 😜
@@zafira976 I, too, thought it odd that a bass player would have a treble clef tattoo. Lighten up, man.
Kemet First He also buys dog food for his cat.
Hi! I'm trying to compare the TRBX604 with the TRB1005... I know they are different models, but what about the pickups?
I got the 504 and was happy with the mahogany body, the only thing I would change is maybe a coat of satin gloss on the back of the neck. It feels like it's from woodshop class as it is. :) But otherwise I love the flat neck, I absolutely ADORE how it weighs next to nothing, atleast a kilogram (2 lbs) lighter than a Fender.
Bass clef is on the other side. Haha
pretty significant upgrades from the 500 series?Like what, they changed only the body material from mahagony to alder(a bad move btw,but thats Me,the mahagony sounds much better),all the rest is the same, electronics, pickups, preamps, all specs are the same, the new ones have a different body finish.Thats all.
The pickups have alnico magnets which makes a difference but yeah they could have done more for this price point.
Stratisfied the 500 series have same alnico V pickups. He said in the video, alder will cut better in a mix,but I can tell you having 504 model I record all the time with it and it sits perfectly in the mix.Sounds really unique and warm.
The only difference is the body wood and the flame maple top. I got a 600 solely becuase this matte amber one looks way way better, to me, than any of the 500 series.
Great video, sounds fantastic
Second video I see that I hear the string touches the pick up!
Nice sound!!
Body wood plays very little role in the sound, apart from its weight. It's all in the neck wood, the pickups and their placement/configuration. And the technique of course. The body is very rigid and no matter what the wood it just doesn't oscillate internally (doesn't bend at all) in order to input anything to the tone. It only acts as counterbalance for the neck which does all the vibrating. It is the acoustic instruments for which body wood is paramountly important.
Negative. The body wood has a huge impact on the percussiveness of an instrument. Ash responds faster to your attack than Alder and Mahogany. Basswood and Korina are spongier than all of the above. Right hand response from these woods is very important.
@@9unslin9er Do you have personal experience -i.e have you created basses with all factors the same (neck material & shape, nut, pickups, strings, bridge, electronics, action, pickup-string distance, body shape) except for the body material?
I have made experiments with my basses i.e. swapped necks and saw the effect of a different neck with everything else kept the same (even string distance from the pickup was carefully dialed in).
I don't have the capability of swapping body material with everything else kept the same so that's why I'm asking for your facts. My assumption (that the body wood type plays very little role in tone shaping) is based on Physics according to which for any oscillating system, any completely rigid elements do not affect the behavior of the system except for what shape and center of gravity they have. And I assume that such thick, solid blocks of wood as bass bodies can be perceived as "rigid". I might be wrong here as the wood at the neck-body joint might not be entirely rigid but then again since any flexibility would still be negligible compared to the flexibility of the neck, I might be right.
If I am wrong I will gladly accept it but you'll have to convince me.
@@MotoGreciaMarios you make a good case
Cletus is ABSOLUTELY correct! Body wood has a very large affect on tone. Sorry Moto.
@@bobamato3763 Well, you'll have to provide with some arguments. Just a bare statement won't change my mind. Body wood in solid body instruments doesn't carry nor does it produce the sound. It's just there mostly as ballast. In acoustic instruments it's another story. In solid body instruments it's the neck that affects the sound. I have made experiments with different necks (different woods) on the very same body and I saw myself, with hands-on experience what some luthiers say - that flexible necks produce better "snap" and softer sound - is absolutely correct. IThere is a Fender MAsterclass video somewhere here on UA-cam (intended for luthiers) where you'll see that the Fender guy hits pieces of maple wood roughly cut in the shape of a guitar neck with a small hammer, listens to their resonant frequency and chooses according to the sound he wants the guitar (Stratocaster- solid body of course). He doesn't spend a second talking about the body wood. By chance? I bet not.
Kevin, between the 504 and 604 which would you choose?
Hello, Darryl! I prefer the 604 because Alder is one of my favorite body woods on bass (although I do really love my Swamp Ash P-bass), and I like the nicer look of having a gloss finish on that maple top. Feel free to reach out to me directly via my contact info below if you're interested in picking one up.
Thanks for the interest!

@@sweetwater Good stuff!👌🏾
Thanks!
So Jon Cryer plays bass now ?
whats the weight?
vs. TRB 1004?
so alder wood will help you sit better in the mix?!?! what a load of bs...
Facts. The plastic marker dots also give you more bite. Sounds like a fodera with more bite. Facts.
@@kittykat575 :)))
Ikr lmao
Why no maple fretboard?
Haha the ironic treble clef tattoo
👏👏👏👏👏
Do they make a left-handed neck?
Hello, Richard! Unfortunately, Yamaha is not currently making a lefty version of this bass. Here's a link to all the lefty basses we're currently stocking:

Gary Hess $599
I hate the headstock! Can the RBX375 neck be put on Trbx neck pocket?
No bass clef tattoo oops!
Kevin's got one on the other side!
Ya, ya he's got one on the other side, why does it even freaking matter. You are here to see the bass review.
He only mainly plays bass but has a treble clef tat that's weird
What? A pick dude? Extreme violation.
Holy Slap.... in 3...2....1....
TRBXs are better looking, BBs are better sounding.
I attest to that. Owner of BBP35 and TRBX604
@@vinekolladiv4494 Well no shit. BBP35 is like 3x the price of a 604. not really a fair comparison
This is absolutely a beautiful bass but cant dig the tone sorry!
jim claypool TRBX500 series you check ,and tell me what you think of them.Theyre great basses for sure.
T.I.N Mateus yeah I liked the mahagony tone.500 was nice but don't like this one.
