  • My First Bass Guitar - Yamaha TRBX604FM - Is it a good choice for guitar players? Without Spoiling The Video, I Will Say Right Away... This is a Nice Bass...!
As a guitar player I soon realised I needed to purchase a bass guitar to help me lay down general bass track ideas in my recording projects. As I am no bass player, I would then go onto either use software to achieve what I needed or bring in a bass player to replace what I had done. For many guitar players, the bass can feel very cumbersome and when it’s not going to be a main instrument most don’t want to have to try and get to grips with something that feels awkward. At the time we were all in lock-down so my research had to be done online, and in my past (1970s) while I have played around on many traditional style bass guitars, be it a Jazz, Precision or Peavy, I was drawn to the Yamaha TRBX 604 and one was soon on its way to me. When it arrived, it came in a cardboard box and I was pleased to see that despite the flimsy packaging it was in perfect condition and the colour really is quite something... very nice looking instrument. Friend of mine who is a bass player took to it straight away.
This video is certainly not fully comprehensive in regard to what tonal nuances you can get out of this guitar, and it's capable of a wide variety of tone, but it should help other guitar players who are also on the search for a comfortable bass guitar to play... Enjoy!

Absolutely beautiful bass.. I just purchased the exact same one in the same color from Sweetwater last Friday. They will be doing a complete setup as well PLEK before they send it out with new DR Black Beauties and a bone nut installed.
    Cheers~

Hi - Congratulations on your purchase...! It certainly is a lovely looking bass, and while I am a 6 string guitar player I really enjoy playing this bass. Very easy on the fingers and it has so many tonal variations available. All the best with your new acquisition, regards: Stu

Another great video Stu,and a lovely bass great sounds,I too have a love for Yamaha had quite a few electro acoustics in my time, current one is the AC3 R looks similar to your Taylor but mine is a deep sunburst, bought it at the one and only Edinburgh guitar festival at the old corn exchange a couple of years ago,I’m up to around 8 of your videos now all superb, however I got spooked at the similarities of your journey when out pops a wem copycat 😀 mine was the red button version, guess what I’ve still got it to this day,my first bit of kit beyond toy guitars and I bought it for vocals not guitar hmmm, anyway I spotted your you tube mail so will get onto that with my email address so I can private message you regarding westbury and other stuff you might like to try out, have a good weekend and mind your brolly 😂😇

Hi Tosh - Yes, Yamaha make some really nice stuff, I'm not too up on acoustic guitars although that AC3 R looks very nice. I was not aware of the Edinburgh guitar festival... if it happens again I must try to go. You have a WEM Copycat!!! fabulous... I also bought one to help my dodgy vocals when I started out around 1975 - thing sounded awful when the tape loop kept making a noise as the joint hit the play heads... lol.. those were the days. Ended up using it for my guitar but as time went on it was clear the Copycat had to go. Yes, private messaging is best when giving out personal details. Look forward to meeting up and having a chat... the rain I don't mind too much... it's the cold that gets to me these these days... I must do a video on - how do guitar players cope when they get old and with arthritis - regards: Stu

@@StuGuitarChannel Thanks for reply Stu,after watching another vid I was off up to my attic/sort off studio to revisit some things I have, reason being when you said you went straight into the desk/interface with the bass a thought came to me,I got a pedal like a poor man’s fractual called a Hotone x stomp with tons of effects ie tube screamers to fuzz face etc, every amp you can think off,but here is the bit that may interest you the IR Cabs for guitar and bass how good they would be I can’t confirm but may be worth trying, the drives, mod, and special effects mostly sound great to me,lots off demo,s on you tube, and it’s another thing I can let you borrow on your recording journey, glad I found yer channel it’s motivating me again, best wishes.

@@TOSHROSEWELL Hi Tosh - Good to hear the videos are encouraging you, its a fun hobby to have. Not sure if you have watched my video on the Mooer GE250 Multi-Effects unit - same idea as your stomp box, it has multiple choices to choose from in regard to amp heads, cabs and combos and of course numerous pedals... and it is very good for what it is. I sometimes play a guitar using it direct into my computers DAW. I also use various Tootrack music packages on the computer which are a great help when composing music tracks. I look forward to our chat, sounds like you have an Aladdin's cave of music gear... take care of it, some of that stuff is very collectable... I can't believe some of the prices some of the old kit from days gone bye go for these days. Regards: Stu
