Who Is The Better McLaren Driver?

- I think it is not a debate anymore as to which team has the upper hand on the track at the moment. In fact, if the season had started over now, we would be in for a pretty dominant constructors win for the boys in orange.
But the question that is still up for debate is who would win the drivers championship. Now, if we rule out any potential resurgence of the Red Bull mastery we've had to endure the past 3 years, it would be up to Lando and Oscar to fight it out in the end.
And at the moment, it is not so clear who would be able to take the lead of the championship battle out of the two young chaps. Lando has the experience while Oscar seems to be the 2nd version of the Ice Man with the nerves of steel he's shown on the grid.
But which one of the two would be able to out compete the other in the grand scheme of things? Let's find out...
as an oscar fan i feel like mclaren should prioritize lando this year, next year who ever is ahead in the wdc will get the first driver promotion

@@benix598lando didn’t capitalise on anything, he wasn’t faster, he didn’t earn the position. He inherited it through a conscious decision with the intention of Lando redressing it before it was even executed. You can argue if you think was valid or not. But smarter people than you with more data made the call.
@@MaCcAM40a3 i am an oscar fan but oscar couldnt catch up to lando if he could have catched up lando would have given up the position and yes people with more data made a call but i am smart enough to look at a number and decide if it is smaller or bigger than last lap. was the positionsoscars? yes. did mclaren made a mistake? yes. was lando faster in thoose laps? yes.

@@inspiredglue2056 Oh 100%. Oscar is very good. So I expect there to be good battles. But I don’t think he will beat lando next year. But that’s just my opinion. I could be proven very wrong, who knows 🤷.
@@SB0418 Yeah. I think he showed in Monza that he can beat Lando and be brave enough to send it, just needs to do that from race 1 next time around.
@@inspiredglue2056 Although I believe team orders should’ve been in place to protect the 1-2, just like 2021 monza, I do agree that Oscar’s overtake was good. But don’t forget, it’s landos first time at the front properly. He hasn’t had a top car at all in his f1 career, all just midfield cars. So he is also improving, which a lot of people seem to forget.

since Monaco Oscar has scored the most points of any driver. Apart from one race Lando has slumped, Oscar has been consistent.. still the only driver to complete every single lap all year. He’s still improving, Lando has already reached his talent ceiling. McLaren need to do to Lando what Red Bull did to DR when he was beating Max in 2017 and bank on the future…

honestly like it is a win-win situation for oscar either way, since the team has said they will be supporting lando then the pressure will be on for him. if lando wins the wdc then oscar will get praised for being selfless for helping him and if lando loses the wdc then it js free game for oscar.

It’s not glaze, we’ve seen 6 years of Lando in the sport and he’s had the exact same weaknesses the whole time. Wheel to wheel racing, dealing with pressure and decision making have never been strong for him.
We’ve not even had 2 years of Oscar in the sport and we have seen marked and consistent improvements almost every race meeting now at a far quicker rate than what Lando has shown.
