Dreadfully sad. What a poignant goodbye, broken health the price of the dance that made him a legend. Thank you for the Dance Michael and God bless you
Me and my daughter watched this show at the London Palladium. It was awesome. Michael and his dancers are brilliant. Unmissable and unstoppable. They're a pleasure to watch
From Eurovision onward, Irish dance would never be the same. This was a remarkable thing for all of us to watch, delight in and enjoy. Thank you for the electricity, the showmanship, the pleasure..all these years.
My husband and I first saw Michael at Rockefeller 's in Houston when he was just sixteen and touring with The Chieftains. I consider us wonderfully fortunate, to have been there for that!
If this performance was really in 2016, I can only imagine the pain he was feeling due to his injuries... he said he has one toe that keeps breaking every time he performs... so sad... he´s a star....Also something bad in his back and ribs after years and years and thousands of performances took a toll on him, but his vision and art will live forever...
All serious dancers have a rough go of it physically later in life. You don’t think about that when you are younger. I just recently discovered Michael and am so in awe of him. First noticed him on some TV dance show he hosted and thought he was arrogant but boy was I wrong. Married and with a son he adores now and I wish him all the happiness he so richly deserves.
Reading his bio, he retired in 2016 due to constant spinal, knee, foot and rib pain. Hope stopping gave him some relief. He was phenomenal. So glad his shows are on tape.
Michael tapped (sorry, had to do it) into something the world didn't know it wanted. Good luck to him, and to all the envious nay sayers, may the blessings of allowing us all our own good, come to you today. Bless the Irish!
It’s not to-day or yesterday that I placed you first when you danced in the World Championship in the Round Room of the Mansion House in Dublin. 1975, if I remember correctly. Congratulations on your wonderfull success since then. You have certainly made Irish Dancing extremely popular worldwide . Eoghan O Cuinn, SDCRG.
a lovely end to a glittering career that spread so much love and pleasure, a marvellous artist and his amazing dancers, there is unlikely to be another.Thankyou Michael, you are a true legend!
He deserved the recognition...that’s for sure. Must be great to be there to have watched all that. It made people respect Irish dance ..let’s hope others go on to keep Irish dance alive. It’s fantastic entertainment..never let tap die.
Flatley was the Greatest of all time. I saw LOTD 5 times in Chicago. It was incredible. Made me so proud to be Irish. It’s an experience you see hear and literally feel. I mane feel impacting your body in your chest. Unbelievable.
We saw Michael dance in both Riverdance and Lord of the dance. It was spetacular!Something we'll never forget. I pray that he is not in so much pain now. I'm heartbroken that he's develpoed cancer. (undisclosed what kind) Please know that we all pray that you get through this. Thank You for making our Irish way of dancing come alive to the world. I'm so very proud to be Irish! GOD bless you Michael. Get well soon!
He was amazing sad he had to retire but he gave so much he never saw a dancer put so much heart in to dancing like he did now it's time for some you time
He opened a whole new dimension of dance to neophytes and lovers of the art. We are indebted to him. I am sorry he suffered so and wish him well. Thank you, Michael.
I sure am going to miss all of the Michael Flatly say good by. He is the with out a doubt. The best dancing by any one. Thank you for the pure joy of your dancing. Bravo Bravo!
@@athenapapadopoulou9802 He has got many serious injuries read about them in wikipedia, torn calf muscles, knee problem, recurring toe breaking, and spine damage, I suppose this dancing caused a lot of problems.
@@42kellys Not to mention all the shoulder injuries from boxing and such. He did an interview where he listed almost everything wrong with him but he said he earned every one of those injuries. Bless him. He has a heart of gold.
@@PhantomDrums917 Yes, and he is the Bruce Lee of the DANCE. The fastest ever, he is and was. Nobody was as fast as he was! You know, there are some people, who are so fast that the camera is unable to take the movement and show it, it is too quick. There were only a few like that. You could never see or feel the speed of his tap dancing moves, you could never see when Bruce Lee hit and when Toshiro Mifune drew his samurai sword you could not see the cut, at times you only saw when he has already stopped the move, and the other man fell down dead. Impossible speed some people are able to achieve, but there are very few of these wonderful men. They are special, they are set apart from all of us. We owe them our utmost respect and love for what they are and what they can achieve. The word admiration perhaps is not enough. I love these people, even though I have never met any of them, because they are special.
I will never tire of watching Michael Flatley dancing. But after almost three decades of doing these shows, night after night, the world over, can you imagine the PAIN this man must contend with on a daily basis ????
An amazing Opera singer, Beverly Sills said when she retired something like "I could go on for a few more years. However, my voice may not be what it is today. I want to retire while people say wonderful things about me. I dont want people to say, she used to be so good." Go out on top. Go out while you're "so good!"
There is only 47 thumbs down. Let me tell you I’m a hard heavy metal girl but this was just so mind blowing watching everyone of his performances and all the other dancers that were on there. I only wish would have taken the time to see it live.
This is a very hard o the body especially the feet, knees. He really knew how to put on a show and watching in 2021, you can see the huge energy in his shows. Real entertainment
Brilliant Brilliant! The best of any Performances in the world. Michael you are so full of Love, dedication, hard work and Passion. That is why you are No#1. Absolutely Beautiful
Broken health or not he was phenomenal and his legacy will.last as one of the best dancers entertainers and all round nice guy .one of a kind. Truly amazing . I didnt like tap.damcing at all till he shown me the talent in 1994 ..
We hope you sometimes watch youtube and read. You still have a lot of fans here in Germany and we wish you all the best. Especially health. Greetings from Germany / Bavaria
Michael, you gave so much of yourself to make your dream possible but you and your gentlemanly like manner always recognized that people loved you for showing this type of dance and you will never be forgotten for your time leadership and love to your dancers and to the public. May God continue to bless you with good health.
Thank you for posting this. Saw his first performance of Riverdance in the early 90s on PBS. Saw him live in Atlanta in Lord of the Dance. Was entranced the entire time. Now seeing his final performance is just so bittersweet. They’ll never be another like him. I felt lucky to be in the presence of such greatness while he was at his peak!
I REMEMBER HIS FIRST RIVER DANCE SHOW ON TV. WENT TO SEE THE SAME SHOW THAT HE PRODUCED THAT WAS IN FRESNO YEARS AGO THAT WAS RIVER DANCE WITH ONE OF HIS GROUPS IN FRESNO CA. HE HAS DONE SO WELL AND EVERYONE LOVES HIM. HE IS AND AMAZING IRISH TAPPER. THE BEST. THANK YOU MICHAEL.👍🏼💖
We were privileged to see this show here in Austin, Texas, earlier in March 2016. Mr. Flatley's performance was, as always, OUTSTANDING. (And while he may not be dancing full shows in future --- years of injuries take a toll --- it's likely he'll continue to perform more briefly on occasion.)
Michael Flatley is the Freddie Mercury of Irish Dance. Both geniuses. Both Icons.
Dreadfully sad. What a poignant goodbye, broken health the price of the dance that made him a legend. Thank you for the Dance Michael and God bless you

That's the joy of youth. I saw him in 1994. Gorgeous and skinny, with that elfish look. He seemed to fly, light as a feather. Full of joy.
A Truly Magical Dancer will always be remembered as the man who made Irish Dancing like a Micheal Jackson Pop star ❤🎉🔥🤩🙏✝️😘✌️xx
