    A radioactive lens? That´s really cyberpunk!

    I got this lens in an antiques store for £4, with the price sticker on the rear element! It's got such character, I love it.

    This is a fantastic lens - I have two copies. My favorite of all my vintage lens collection. Super sharp, too! I didn't remove the discoloration, as I love the warm tones. BTW - you can use a UV light to get rid of the orange cast.

    It’s a good job they made so many of these lenses through the production life as it’s a rightly super popular lens that we can all still enjoy without breaking the bank, and it’s always interesting to see how other photographers work, great episode.

      Some older lenses have thorium oxide as part of the glass formula. It does emit radiation but not really too much to worry about. I do like living on the wild side though : )

    • @ForsakenAngel236
      @ForsakenAngel236 5 років тому +12

      Just stay away from it when not in use and by any means don't shatter that glass, because if you do you are in major trouble. Especially if you have kids and/or animals. And keep in mind that over time it may increase in gamma spectrum.
      Most time it is safe if you know all about it and are very careful. Still AFAIK radioactive optics can get you in trouble, for example, in Russia. So that is still an object containing more risk than it looks like.

    Just one question, why are you hiding the Fujifilm logo on your X-Pro 2. The great focus peaking on Fujifilm X cameras is one of the things that make using vintage M42 lenses so much fun.
