Ok, Jason. Thanks for the review. I have been waiting for you to review this one, as I value your opinion. I have watched lots of other reviews on it. Well, this time I went ahead and ordered it, and I really love it! I was using the AirFit part of the time, but the Dreamwear was my go-to. The Dreamwear left horizontal marks on my face, even when I used satin covers on the frame, and I had to use hair clips to keep it in place. When I used the Airfit, I still had to use hair clips to keep it in place in the back, and the silicone on the top broke my hair off when I didn’t use satin covers.
Then I got the AirTouch. I absolutely love it. No face marks, it stays perfectly in place on my head (without clips) and on my nose. The only things I don’t like are:
    1. The front diffuser must be removed before washing because it takes forever to dry out. (They recommend washing nosepiece every day).
    2. I had to cut out the center strip on the nose piece to allow for movement and free breathing.
    3. I’m afraid to put the cloth frame in my hurricane dryer. Afraid it might pull apart. (It shouldn’t shrink because it’s polyester).
Otherwise, it’s perfect for me. I’m using it full time now. It’s the only mask I’ve been able to just pop on and wear night after night with nothing to hold it on. It’s so comfortable for me. So it is good for some people. Sorry you didn’t like it.

Been a front hose guy since 2011, my Zest days...always know where that hose is, I want it easy to find. Loving the Vitera for the big pressures I need... 21/17, Hercules! Tried the Lena... that is a death-grip mask, throwback to RM's Quatro... modern masks inflate to seal, the Lena (and Quatro evidently) are just tighten until sleep is impossible, then loosen a little. I tape my mouth with my Vitera, the cushion stays cleaner, the tape job is much easier than with a nasal, it doesn't have to hold any pressure... it prevents drooling and helps with jaw drop too. Those top-knot masks have hidden passages I don't like... I like seeing everything in the mask... also, those are harder to clean, the Vitera is an open book for cleaning.. always start your machine before putting on your mask folks, blow the spiders out! You think I'm kidding...

I really appreciate your review. Like you, my primary mask is the F&P Nova micro. The N30i is my go to for nostril relief and healing. I've found that using the airtouch cushion with the airfit frame works great. You also need to trash the headgear and use the Philips dreamware with wings strap -- uber comfortable.

I've been using the DreamWear version of this mask for years now and I will NEVER go back to the nose hose. I'm a side sleeper and I hated the tube coming off the front of my face as I rotate. The top of the head tube just sits above me at the top of the pillow and I rarely ever have to even acknowledge it's there. For me, the detachable tube is useless as the entire thing slides off and on easier than any regular CPAP mask, though I believe it's been mentioned in the past that for women it's easier as their hair or ponytail can be more difficult to manage at the back.
Regarding the VCOM, you can buy a tiny extension tube and that shifts the VCOM 6 inches or so further away from the connector, which I believe helps with the sound.
FWIW, I tried the original N30i and despised the hard plastic on the nose cushion. I know they got rid of that at some point, but I haven't gotten around to trying it to see how the modern version compares to the DreamWear. Until then, the DreamWear stays winning for me.

I have both, I'm bald. For me the AirTouch is a HUGE win! it doesn't stick to my head and it's not that rough, it stays in place nice without actually sticking to skin. I prefer the top attachment style because I don't wake up with the tube wrapped around my neck from rolling over throughout the night. But if you don't like it... Don't use it 🙄

I started CPAP therapy using the ResMed F 40i, so I am used to the hose on top. I switched to the Airfit N30i and liked it. Since I needed a new frame decided to try the Airtouch version. For me the nasal pillow felt more comfortable, but I had more leaks. Using the Dreamwear headgear has helped. I also use the F&P Solo, which I hated at first. I installed the filter hack from Uncle Nicko and now love it.

    Hi Jason,
As usual, you are spot on and agree with me on everything that I can do!
There has never been a mask that I threw away within two weeks of purchase. But there is now and it is this one! To be kind, it was the biggest disappointment in my five years of using CPAP.!!!
I frequently switch off between my F30i and my Evora full face
    Along with the regular F30
I used to use the N30i regular, but I got sick of fighting the mouth leaking.
Anyway, now that the damn thing is in the garbage and out of my site life is getting better!😂😂
Thank you for all that you do! And when I get back to work in the spring, I need to schedule another Pap analysis since I have no contact anymore with my sleep, doctor or anyone else.
Have a great day, my friend!

I've used the same N30i AirTouch cushion only without the new mask now for 40 days and love it. I had an air leak issue the first day but was able to stop it by shaving my upper lip stubble and applying aloe vera to the nostril area right before I went to sleep. Not sure if that will help you Jason but I felt sandpaper like you were experiencing before I did that. Hasn't leaked since. My insurance doesn't cover the new cushion yet but I'm going to take advantage of your LANKYFALL discount and order 2 more. I appreciate and enjoy all your videos and sense of humor. I use the Solo Nasal cradle (which you hate 😂) for my nasal rest mask. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Nova Micro and I get zero leaks from it. Went from the Solo pillows --> Brevida (leaky McLeak) --> Nova Micro. BLISS! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 These over the head masks look freaky and scare me a bit. I tried the Dreamwear - hated it.

I center the hose on the bed and the connector rotates GREAT! I use the F30i. I will NEVER go back to a nose drop! I use the connector pinch all the time, it lets me sit up because I use a shorter length of hose to get the connector to rotate. Once I am up I remove the mask via the magnets and it is SOOO easy and does not stretch the headband.

For me the quick disconnect on these masks is useful even though it’s trivial to take the mask off. If I take the mask off to run to the bathroom the machine goes into cooldown mode and rapidly chills the mask and causes moisture to condense in the mask. If I disconnect from the hose then I don’t have that issue.

  • @CoastFIREisawesome

Interesting take. My experience has been the exact opposite. I've been using the AirFit until I got the AirTouch 4-8 weeks ago. The Philips DreamWear under the nose is my backup mask. The AirFit caused so much nose pain each night that I had considered a nose job (not joking). Less leak and less nasal tip pain.

I have the P30i and love the top of the head feature. I originally bought it as an N30i, but found I prefer pillows, so changed the nasal piece. I still have to use a front hose SwiftFX for travel, as the P30i air tubes coming down in front of the ears are too noisy when using a travel CPAP.

  • @k6txh

The AirTouch N30i seems quieter compared to the AirFit N30i, but the inserts with the cloth seems to leak a bit more than the silicon insert. I have a few silicon inserts, so I will probably use them later. However, the additional cover seems to reduce mask rainout compared to the AirFit. The AirTouch frame also seems to slip up less on the back of my head. I prefer the AirTouch overall, but will probably stay with the silicon inserts.

  • @labramutt

It’s interesting to see such different reactions to every mask. The AirTouch N30i quickly became my mask of choice. For me it doesn’t leak as much or abrade the skin under my nose as much as the AirFit N30i, and I get a more reliable seal. I haven’t had any trouble cleaning it. Both versions are noisy, and I’m not a fan of the ResMed headgear/strap, because it slides too much, so I always swap in a Dreamwear head strap in the back. It’s helpful to me to see people’s objections though, as it keeps me from getting too evangelical about this mask.

I have been using the N30i for about 3.5 years, and really like it. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that the holes in the nasal mask are a little too small and too closely spaced, I have to use a Small, the M, and SW are too big. As for the head pivot it works perfectly, just don't have it laying on your pillow, get a small hook and use a "Command Strip" to fix it about 18 inches above your head. Use a small bungee cord to hold the hose to the hook using a clove hitch, and about 6 inches of extra hose, and you can move around all night long without it getting in your way. And I move around a lot through the night!!😅

I have been in debate about it. I made the switch from an under nose full mask. Can't judge the air leaking yet as I'm not sure if I'm mouth leaking (yet). I find it really comfortable no irritation. My complaint is it slides around my head like no body's business, Even rolled over once and it slipped right off. I ordered an alternate suggested back strap to see if that will help. If not I'll be in the market for a different under nose mask.

I just finally switched to a ResMed AirSense 11 from a recalled and refurbed Dreamstation. (Good riddance!) Loving the machine, but it came with the AirFit N30i, and that QuietAir thing on the front of the otherwise-nice cushion leaks air onto my upper lip and it drives me crazy! I've switched back to the Dreamwear cushion. Definitely interested in trying out the best alternatives, because I don't want to buy any Phillips anything anymore.

I actually liked the 'feel' of the comfort touch...most silicone annoys under my nose. However, I have a moustache/beard...and while I felt it was confortable, it leaked like crazy..I couldn't get a good seal no matter what I tried. Also read reports that when you wash that comfort touch piece, it tends to break down really fast. So another large chunk of $ out the window.

I have the ResMed air fit N30I, it’s OK, but I prefer the air connecting to the nose. So I purchased ResMed P10. I like it better because it’s a small mask. The only problem I have is the straps move around because I have long hair. I’ve tried everything to keep them in place.

    • @user-vj9eo2bf9m
      @user-vj9eo2bf9m 16 днів тому

I also tried the bleep and I really like it because there’s no straps on your head tangling up your hair. The only problem I have is the adhesive on the halos starts to make my skin itch and I end up taking it off. It seems like the moisture from the air gets in between the adhesive and my skin and starts to loosen and turn makes it itchy.

Your video is spot-on - using V-com with this mask causes so much noise on inhale & exhale. It might be just me, but it causes my brain to want to override my natural breathing and time it to what I'm hearing when I'm awake....I know that probably doesn't make sense, but I hate hearing it. No explanation WHY it makes that noise. Guess I need to look for a different mask, because the P10 I have causes my nostrils to hurt after a few hours. :(

Thanks Jason. Like you I have found the N20 as my best mask. Now about future videos. I would love to see more of your chart reading videos with the likes of either OSCAR or SHQ please with a focus on RERAs and UARS please. It would also be of value to discuss inspiratory flow shapes (contours) as they relate to adjusting air pressure. Also, any comments relating to air mask influences on CPAP/BiLevel machine reported events. Yeah, I know you have told us machine reported data is trash. But what options do we have. Why do I ask? Because the machine reported events with a N20 are very different than say my Solo. I believe this may be related to the mask vents.

Since you mentioned Fisher & Paykel masks in your video, I recently tried the Nova Micro Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask and found it to be uncomfortable since the nasal pillows protruded deeper into my nostrils compared to others and caused the inside of my nostrils to be sore. I noticed that my AHI readings seemed to increase for some reason. Usually my AHI readings run between 3-5, they were reading between 6-9 with the Nova Micro. I did not experience any leakage when I tried it. Since the nasal pillows are a soft and pliable material, is it possible that one of the nasal pillows partially collapsed once inside my nostril causing a restriction in air flow into my nasal cavity? The headgear was great and was very comfortable, I felt disappointed that it didn't work for me. I switched to the AirFit P10 and have not had any issues.

I really liked the Airtouch n30i until I washed it. The cushion then started leaking like crazy and blowing air up into my eyes. Its been two weeks now and its stopped doing that finally. I wonder if it just wasn't completely dry? I don't know. I love the fabric cover and fabric cushion as I get severe contact dermatitis from silicone. Top of the head works for me, I get extremely tangled otherwise. I just wish it wasn't so expensive here -NZ$309 / US$174 for the fit pack. We also can't get separate cushions yet which is bizarre. I just wish Resmed would make a cushion (xs? Xsw?) for small turned up noses because i have a constant problem with the Medium, SW and Airfit Small and Small wide cushions - as I move around in my sleep the cushion rides up my nose as my nose isn't long enough/at the right angle in comparison to the cushion. It blocks my nostrils and then i wake up unable to breathe. I hope they made a Airtouch p30i so I can try that to stop the riding up and dermatitis.

I use a Dreamwear with the nasal pillows (cushion just doesn't seal right for me), it's ok but the silicone cheek tubes get loud if you sleep on your side, also the top hose vent is noisy as hell if it is into a pillow or the headboard.
Almost a year in I'm on about mask five, full face, full face hybrid variants, none fit me right the frames hurt if tight enough to seal, now I switched to nasal which took a while to adjust to holding my mouth shut but I still haven't found a mask that doesn't annoy me. I have an airfit n20 too, but the plastic frame annoys me on that one. Anything comfortable just won't seal well.
    The constant quest.

I tend to bury my face in the pillow, so for me personally, the hose at the top of the head is the best CPAP innovation ever. I won't use anything else. However, I've had quite a bit of experience using the Resmed Airfit N30i and the Dreamwear nasal mask. I gave up on the Resmed N30i because the silicone would separate from the hard plastic. The Philips Dreamwear nasal mask is one piece silicone, so it doesn't do that. As far as noise, keep a CPAP somewhere other than head level, and they're much quieter, because you're not hearing the CPAP machine.

I get a good seal with the Airtouch N30i cushion for most of the night, but the seal is better on the silicone version. I find the surface of the cushion is comfortable, but I very badly need a size small. For some crazy reason, Resmed decided not to produce a small cushion for this mask. The medium is much too large for me and probably all others who need a small. I do like the fabric cover for the top of the mask, but you can get the same effect with removable covers sold on ETSY. The Airfit N30i without any extra covering pulls out my fine hair. Not good! I also use Dreamwear headgear for a more secure fit. Overall, I'm on the fence and still trying to decide if I prefer the Airtouch or the Airfit with removable covers.

What I hate most about that style is that the back-of-the-head strap does jack shit for keeping it on my head. I realize I toss a lot more than the average person, but if I had even a penny for the number of times I have to pull it back down on my head every night, I could at least pay my bills. I realize that nasal pillows really don't have the ability for a dual strap (like full-face masks) but man.
I also kinda hate the fabric bits because they get really gross over time and I don't find them easy to clean. They're probably kinder to hair, but eh. I'm losing mine anyway, so the rest of you with luscious locks can suffer with me. ;P
Anyway. There's my take. Still suffering, still mad about it. LOL

@veryberry39, I had the same problem with the rear strap sliding up my head multiple times per night until I replaced it with the "Philips Respironics DreamWear CPAP Headgear with Arms". The arms extend downward so the strap rests on the base of the skull and resists sliding upward. Even though it was made for the Philips DreaWear mask, it fits perfectily on the ResMed N30i and P30i frame. Been using it for about a year now and it still works great. Give it a try.

@@markheminger1334 Ooo, I'll have to look this up. Thank you so much! It would be amazing to not have to adjust that strap a dozen times a night!

I use a chinstrap under my headgear on all my masks which completely stops the slide up issue.

Two points: (1) has there ever been a "brutally honest review" of anything on UA-cam that was positive?; (2) I am surprised you didn't talk about how the N30i compared to other masks in terms of cleaning,.

Cushion leaks real bad,and frame began to ravel after a week. Medium frame is too large and Medium cushion is too large.
