I have both a nasal pillow and full face mask (f30i and p30i). Most of the time I use the nasal pillow one, but if I have a cold or am congested for some reason and can’t breathe well through my nose I use the full face mask.
hey, just got a apap machine the luna g3 as was just diagnosed with sleep apnea and i have the resmed f30 side medium and i have a beard and cant get it comfortable at all as it itches and leaks and i toss and turn back and forth when i sleep too and it shifts the mask. and i find it hard to breath with my mouth since i have a deviated septum and can barely breath through my noise and i think the pressure is too high since it like puffs out my cheeks and have hard time exhaling and i changed the reslex settings. and been watching your vidoes and learned a lot. so would love some adivce and opinions on how to get comfortable and get used it to. and is the luna g3 as good as the resmed airsense 11? and is the f30 mask good? again id love any advice and help. thanks for the informative videos
I was having problems getting a good seal and also jaw drop, I have a large nose and a recessed chin so it was looking hopeless. The Airtouch F20 with memory foam mask helped with nose bruising but I still couldn't get a perfect seal all night. What finally worked was very simple: first connect the upper straps while looking straight ahead. Then turn your head down and look down at your feet and attach the lower straps. When you look back up you'll feel the mask tighten perfectly into place. Using this simple method I have eliminated leaks. If you wake up and the straps have loosened, just push your chin towards your chest and tighten the lower straps again. Hope this helps someone!
i'm going to book some paid time to go over my treatment but just so i don't burn all of it being a fangirl, dude you are saving me so much pain. I love your sleep nerdness.
I'm here because you are the only content producer who did an honest review of the Resvent iBreeze. Your honest and unguarded, but respectful assessment and critique of that APAP was reflected in virtually all of the viewers comments on all the other channels too, regardless of how glowing that channel's review was of that product. That speaks well to ethical content, so...now I'm here. Thanks for your integrity.
I appreciate that. Certainly something I take very seriously and try to make known when a mistake is made. That said.....a fair number of people ROASTED me for my review of VCOM. I still stand by that. It's awesome!!!! Thank you for the kind words. I'll disappoint you in many other ways for sure, but lack of honesty won't be one of them.
Maybe I'm in the minority. I can't afford healthcare and can't qualify for assistance. I paid for a machine and supplies back alley style because I'm at literally my wits end. I hear people complain all the time about wearing a CPAP and how much they hate it. I want it so bad I'm literally in fucking tears. I'm on day 2 and still learning. Idc how uncomfortable it is. I'll figure it out and make it work. You're 1 of 2 people I've found with amazing info. It's so invaluable. Thank you so much
Part of the issue is that doctors are not much of a help. "You have an AHI lower than 5, you're doing great," meanwhile I still feel like I got hit by a truck every morning. My tolerance for stimulants is far higher as a result of less restorative sleep than my body needs. I commend you for doing this on your own, but realize that most people want a decent night's sleep and will work hard with CPAP, but many doctors are just woefully ignorant or do not care about the sleep quality and fixate instead on AHI, which is a pretty subjective measure of overall sleep quality.
Being a mouth breather, jaw dropping, cpap leakin fool. I wish a manufacturer made a full-face mask that goes over the chin. I use a respirator often and even with a beard get a great seal.
Wonderful info. So glad i found you. I had used Fisher full face for decades and covered UNDER my chin. HC431 Full Face CPAP Mask Headgear by Fisher & Paykel. Since the new fancy engineering tried all the nasal pillows and supposed full face and mouth opened all night. New sleep techs and Apria Health had no knowledge about original full face. Probably fancy manufacturers influence. Lucky still had one in box with label. Now back on full face that goes UNDER chin (wear a small) and better sleep. Original products sometimes the best. ✌️
I know this is going to sound like an ad, but I swear it’s not. I was breathing through my mouth due to a deviated septum and allergies that hadn’t been properly dealt with. I was getting TERRIBLE leaks with the F30i and F20. But then I tried to better address my nasal congestion. I tried an online Rx nasal spray called Allermi, hoping that it would be better than Flonase and Nasacort. It’s honestly incredible. I have pretty much completely fixed my mouth breathing, and now I can wear a nasal mask with zero issues and very minimal leaking. It’s a game changer. If you’re struggling with congestion, allergies, and/or deviated septum, look into this product. It’s made life better in a lot of ways. I thought I was going to lose my mind waking up constantly with all that leaking from the full face masks. I’m so glad I can wear a N30i now. So much better.
I'm a mouth breather, I have a deviated septum, I'm always congested and I'm at a very high pressure of 17. I absolutely love the F30i! I do have to wear it pretty tight... so the headgear worns out fast, but it's very comfortable and I really enjoy the top of the head connection! Makes it very easy to move around.
make your own headgear then, that's what I did, I also love the F30i, I used to use dreamwear but because I do wear it tight, the nose portion of the silicone would break after a month. Not an issue with F30i. I made my strap with multi layered cotton fabric. The main issue with regular headgears is its single layer and foam inside, makes it weak.
Ditto - the same with me! Same mask, love it. I too am on pretty high pressure. VPAP 19inches High/ 12inches Low. My F30 head gear lasts only 4 -6 weeks. I have to wear it tight or mask leaks are terrible. I also have used the collar, and jawstrap/boil and bite mouth guard too. None of that was an answer for me. I might consider trying out the Fisher Pykel mask to see how it does.
I use the dreamwear full face mask and get those flappy, farty leaks you talk about and they are VERY disruptive. I've worked long and hard to find a solution and finally came up with one that you didn't mention. I'm a crafter so I have a drawer full of glues and Aleene's Tack It Over and Over temporary glue has solved my problem. I run a bead of glue around the perimeter of the silicone where it touches my skin and let it cure, so I do this in the morning when I wake up and take my CPAP mask off. When I go to bed at night I just position the mask before I set it on my face and connect my straps - then I'm good for the night. Think of it as form a gasket for CPAP masks. Chin straps don't work, and tape didn't work because I'm very sensitive to adhesives but this glue does not bother my skin. I even checked their data safety sheet and there's nothing in there to indicate that it would be a problem. When I wake up in the morning and take my mask off I just peel that string of glue off, usually from my face but sometimes it sticks to the mask, and it's like those glue "boogers" (since you could say farty I figured I can get away with boogers😁) that hold credit cards in the paperwork they send you. I have been using this method for at least 3 months now and I am extremely happy with it with no skin irritation whatsoever. One of the alternatives I tried was poligrip denture glue but all I got out of that was dried and crumbly material when I woke up and hadlll crumbs in the bed I had to vacuum out. I also made a sleep cap out of a pair of my tights because the silicone band pulled on my hair so much that my scalp was painful all the time. I also cut my hair down to half inch so I don't get that permanent dent in my hairdo. Since I live in the hottest spot in Arizona I don't miss the extra hair at all and this is a very doable method of dealing with my air leaks. I think that wonderful chin strap contraption that you were showing is ingenious but I would overheat at night in that because the summer temperatures at night here rarely drop below 100° if they get that low. Our daytime temps have been well over 120° all summer!
I used a nasal mask for nearly a dozen years successfully. Last year, I started to experience some of the same issues that led me to CPAP therapy in the first place. I was waking up with headaches, dry mouth, fatigue, etc. The headaches were just awful. I did not suspect a problem with my CPAP therapy in the beginning because, why would I if was on CPAP therapy for a dozen years? Around the same time, I developed atrial fibrillation and went to the doctor to figure out what was going on with my heart. It’s was at that point that I started to think that my sleep apnea may be getting worse and my CPAP therapy wasn’t working like it used to. So I went for another sleep study and during the study they discovered that my jaw dropped and I was leaking a lot of air. So basically, I was breathing in through my nose and immediately exhaling through my mouth causing a loss of oxygen and a backup of carbon dioxide. That was where my severe headaches were coming from. Also, this explains my sudden onset of atrial fibrillation which is a common side effect of sleep apnea. They fitted me with the ResMed F30 full face mask and adjusted my pressure up two points. The improvement in my sleep was immediate. My atrial fibrillation however is still a problem and need to take meds to control my heart rate. Had I realized my problem sooner, I may have avoided the development of atrial fibrillation. My current problem though has to do with mask leak. I am a side sleeper generally and everything seems to be OK if I stay on my side. If I lay on my back however, my cheeks fall backwards and creates that farting sound on the outsides of the mask near my cheeks. They even vibrate as a result. I don’t know how to solve this problem. I find myself waking up and holding my mask more firmly. If I tighten my straps anymore the magnets disconnect and that causes more problems. Long story I know, but if I could figure out how to stop the cheek leak it would be helpful. The other information was to share my story in case others have something similar happening.
Sounds like exactly whats going on with me! I gta go back to the Dr,Im so tierd of feeling exausted everyday!!First I was diagnosed with reg.apnea n was still having 70plus apneas so finally done another study n found out i had central s.a. so got new machine a few minths ago n now Im gtn sime better scores sometimes but always exhausted, its so frustrating!!!
I was getting 'mouth farts' with my F&N Vitera FF mask (medium). I then tried a 'small' seal instead, and things got a bit better. Then I tried a Resmed Airfit F20 (small), and things got better still. I'm going to try a Resmed Airfit F20 (medium) tonight. Bottom line, for you, have you tried different brands and sizes of FF masks?
@@chriss740 I just had a Tele visit with my suppliers sleep therapist yesterday and he suggested changing my F30 mask from a small to a medium as he finds that most people do better with that size than they do with the small. I received it today and will try it tonight so keeping my fingers crossed that it does the trick. If it doesn’t, he suggested the Evora mask to try next. Wish me luck!
A Classic! Conceded that I needed to go Full Face previously successful with nasal/pillow use, but jaw drop was crazy. Chin strap and very "cut down" basic sport mouthguard (prior to boil) got me holding my chin right, and had enough lip leak to have PAP work. Now I have "graduated" to not needing to use them (sometimes just the chin strap), but learning to maximise nasal breathing under the FF mask (look up "mewing") as it is healthier and better to keep nose as open as possible and far less dry.
I'm glad I live in Sweden and the cpap machine, tube and masks is a part of Healthcare and we get the fitting of the masks and everything for free because it looks expensive otherwise. But I love the tips and all in your videos
We have the NHS in the UK so we get it free too so very lucky, I didn’t know I needed it until recently I thought my sleep problems was caused by the menopause.
Wow! Nice to meet cha fellow lefty! Just got diagnosed with sleep apnea and was given a Resmed Airsense 10 with a nasal pillow set up and because I can't wear my false teeth when I sleep I have jaw drop. I've been taping my mouth but that's going to run into bucks in the long term so they gave me a hybrid of the nasal/full face mask Fisher and Paycal (spelling issues) and experienced the biggest mouth farts I've ever heard, not to mention serious leak issues so I went back to the nasal pillows and tape. Can't wear a chin strap or anything on my head so it's looking like it's the nasal for me and I'll deal with my full thing when I have a cold. So glad to find you and your expertise! Love your cat 🐈! Take care! -Tina in Kentucky
I hate the whole sleep apnea system!! By Gosh we can put a man on the moon but we can’t figure out better things to keep our freaking mouth shut, then three…. Ready to give up 😞
I'm sorry you're struggling. Give yourself some grace - breathing through the mouth means your nose can't bring in enough air to keep your throat open, so we just need a machine to blow hard on us to help 😂 it's kinda silly, if you think about it
I'm with you! We need room pressurizing. Or a company to scan your head for a custom fit. I want a mask to also go under the jaw line. And they are working on a 3d printed landing pad on the moon.
Philips Dream Wear nasal cushion completely ended my leaking issues. 100% This + full coverage mouth tape has me sleeping better than I have in a long , long time.
I started with full face was terrible.Switched to ResMed AirFit N30 works great. I’m a mouth breather . I use face wash for oily skin and apply a strip of 3M Transpore Tape(in expensive) My Air sleep score averages 94
@@unkljimmy1911 Yeah, took me four different masks and almost two years to figure out that full-face just wasn’t going to work for me. The NP at my pulmonologist’s office had told me that I would always need a rigid full face mask because of my high pressures. 1000% wrong. 🤦♂️
I’ve had a cpap since 2002. It changed my life and has kept me alive all these years. However, over the years I have gone through so many different kinds of masks that I’ve lost count. Your mention of “jaw drop” just started happening to me about a year ago. I’ve tried tying my jaw closed with every method possible. I don’t have a full face mask, and when I tried them ten years ago… I had too many face farts to sleep with it. What should I do? I’m lost.
I use the Vitera and F30i - typically alternating one night at a time. I've also tried taping my mouth shut while wearing (with some slits to allow mouth breathing since I can't reliably breathe through my nose). CPAP is definitely infinitely better than trying to sleep without, but I still haven't found that groove of waking up feeling refreshed. I would not be comfortable wearing that chin strap. I may try taping the mask down. I struggle with having the mask too tight or the mask leaking, which like you mentioned, wakes me up.
I've been using the ResMed AirFit F30 mask for over a year, and I really like it. I like that it fits UNDER rather than OVER the nose, and the tubing comes out the front instead of over the top, which I also prefer.
Jason.. great show.. a real solution to mask leak is a product called cpap gel mask leak sealer. Rub the gel on the mask where it touches the face and the results are great and the stuff is quite cheap.. have not ordered in awhile but really worth the try. Thanks again
Thanks for the info. I've been with a CPAP mask for about a year now and I'm 35, fairy healthy, 110 lb. so it was very surprising that I have sleep apnea. I have been using the F-30i mask and it works pretty good but I do have a lot of issues with air leaks. If it's too tight or too loose you will have problems. It's very tough and in that sweet spot. And I don't really care for the imprints that it's putting on my face. BUT I do sleep better with it!
I have been using cpap less than six months. I have found that the antisnore headgear helps with jaw drop my cpap machine reports are better when I use one of those. I will try the Knightsbridge. They aren't honoring your discount code.
I have to ware a full face mask. I use the Resmed F20. What I do is switch on my mask fit settings on the CPAP, and adjust the mask with exaggerated slack mouth drop, look up, down, side to side, and only experience leak when it time to replace the face mask cushion. By that time the silicone is degraded. I hope you’re doing well Lefty!
I have the f20, also the memory foam. I like them both. I had the blue gel mask in comparison half the weight. I find washing my fash well.blot dry. I wet the edge of the mask, it tends to adhere to my face.
I use Vitera (and Simplus) FF mask... but I never breathe through my mouth... I use it like a big nasal mask. And... I tape my mouth! Your tape job can be a lot less thorough when doing this, obviously... and the tape prevents me from mouth-breathing and helps with jaw-drop too.
Good, informative video. Just got my Airseries 11 CPAP. No issues. I do use the full mask because of nasal congestion and allergies. One problem I do have while sleeping, is chronic spinal pain. Six surgeries and implants in 5 years. I takes time to get comfortable. Wake up several time from the discomfort.
You have great tips in this video…well done! I’ve been using PAP therapy for 11 months and went through five different masks searching for my dream masks. I was about to give up when I found the Evora by Fisher & Paykel. The F30i pulled my hair and I was never able to eliminate leaks. I have a rather small face and the DME was having a hard time fitting me. In the office, the Evora leaked, but I was getting desperate and decided to give it a try. Taking it home with the Fit Pack was all that was needed. I sleep all night with almost zero leaking. My advice to anyone is to keep searching and not give up because of leaks. There are so many masks and solutions to try. Thanks for all the great information you provide.
Great videos, Jason. Thank you for making them. I've been using an F30i full face mask for about two weeks. I've used regular skin tape and SomniFix tape. The SomniFix tape is better but more expensive. The mouth tape is another game changer that I learned from your videos. I didn't realize how much CPAP therapy I was losing due to my mouth leaking air. I bought the double-sided mouthguard from your Amazon store, but it hasn't fixed my jaw-drop problem. I didn't even know jaw-drop was a thing until I watched your videos. Now I recognize it when it makes the ResMed F30i mask leak at the bottom of the mask. I will return the F30i and try a nasal pillow mask because I can breathe through my nose; I like to drink water at night, and the full face mask leaks too much on me. I'm watching your videos today to choose a nasal pillow mask. I've been a CPAP user since 2004, but I took a break from it for 1.5 years, from mid-2021 to April of this year. I definitely benefit from CPAP therapy. I also appreciate you mentioning Oscar software in your videos. I had no idea such software existed. The SD card in my ResMed AirSense 10 is read by Oscar and provides a wealth of information. I plan to pay you for a review of my Oscar analysis after I get about 60 days of usage recorded.
Was loving my Pico nasal mask, but was getting too many mouth leaks and not really a fan of taping. Have Dreamwear FFM, and F30i, and F30 (all from my partner) but seal to nose is problematic. We both have switched to Vitera which has great seal and stability - just trying to adjust temperature to minimize dry mouth... I found with a nasal mask I'm comfortable with climateline auto humidity @ 21C, but with FFM a higher temp (like 26C) is better - higher temp = higher water content for same relative humidity.
Your covering these various topics like this which other channels do not produce to this level of comprehensively, is not only interesting & educational but is really pragmatic for our health.
Thanks! I enjoy making them. Some of what I consider my "best" videos have way lower views that I would like. (not for views, but for getting what I consider quality information out there)
You mentioned several times in your video that people are only wearing Full Face masks because they are 'mouth breathers'. That's not at all true. I'm a nose breather, (and keep my mouth closed) but when I use a Nasal Mask, the air that blows in through my nose was leaking out through my mouth, causing incredible dry-mouth. I wasn't breathing in at all through the mouth - just allowing the excess air pressure to escape through it. My mouth was generally closed, but I could feel air seeping into my mouth, and then forcing my lips to open momentarily. For this reason I had to switch to a Full Face mask. I don't like it, but it's the only way to avoid ultra desert-dry mouth.
I started CPAP about 2 months ago and I love my DreamWear full face mask. I haven't had any jaw drop issue. I can't really imagine wanting a nose only mask but I will try one out soon.
So I am a CPAP user I have the ResMed system I do have jaw drop, I was watching a video by the essential Craftsman that's the name of his channel, just out of the blue he came up with a solution for the jaw drop, it's a strip of tape that crosses your lips vertically and ties your lips together during the night I use it and it has diminished my dry mouth quite a bit, the tape is easy to get off in the morning because it is like a bandage tape that comes off easy.
I have bruises on my nose often. The mask 'farts' and it blows at the bottom often. I have perm sinus problems so a full mask is only option. Trouble is I side sleep and end up sleeping with my face buried in the pillow. so even though the mask has been fitted by the Sleep clinic and fits fine (until I actually sleep!) it gets knocked and pushed into my nose. Not found a solution yet. I wake a few times a night but I am getting 6~7 hrs sleep so whilst not perfect its far better then the almost constant stopping breathing all night(I was the 2nd highest reading for stopping breathing at the clinic!)
Great video. I am a nose breather but had trouble exhaling through the nasal pillows. Therefore I would slightly open my lips. Not really a jaw drop. Had to move to a full face mask. I would prefer the pillows. Should I use EPR to help exhaling with the pillows?
Thank you! My full face mask was making those « farting sounds » and I was truly puzzled as to why. And you are absolutely right, it definitely woke me up at 4:00 a.m.!😅 I am so glad I came across your channel. Jaw drop was the culprit! Thanks, again! ❤
New CPAP user here. Been just over 14 days and the only issue I've had is with dry mouth. I don't have any issues with mask leak and my incident count has already reduced from 41.6 at my Sleep Study to 1.3 last night. I use a full face mask (AirFit F20) and the ResMed AirSense11. To combat the dry mouth, the advice from everythibg I've read/seen is to increase the humidity. Well, I gradually stepped up from 4 to 6 and, while that helped with the dry mouth, I was woken up in the middle of the night by a strange sound. The increased humidity caused enough condensation in the air tube it sounded like I was smoking a bong!
Hi there, I started CPAP some 9-10 months ago. I’m still struggling a lot getting used to it. When I wear a full facemask, f20 or f30i the mask bounces/jumps on my face making it impossible to sleep. Then i switched to nasal pillows, no jumping but Air shoots into my right eye and chin. Machine says no leaks. I can’t sleep like that. Do you have any suggestions? I’m desperate here
New to PAP world. I'm shocked by the lack of help with this therapy. The devices (only ResMed experience here but includes AS9 & 11 auto, and 10 elite) are very powerful and adjustable. But have you ever add water to an AS 11? How can a version 11 top-of-the-line device be so NON-user friendly, for a daily task? Ridiculous! And the masks. It seems the makers should watch this video so you can learn that the lower jaw has joint and can move! Another stupid example is those hybrid masks with the air tubes on either side of the face. Great idea, but total fail on strap placement. Jason, YOU THE MAN‼️ Thanks for what you do!
Great job explaining. 2 year full face mask, Fisk brand. Never thought I would like but I've been wearing faithfully 9 to 11 hours per night. I'm addicted 😂🤭. I've experienced everything. Glad to hear from someone who knows. Thank you so very much! God Bless you Darlin! 🙏♥️
I mouth tape with my Vitera... helps with jaw-drop, stops mouth breathing and drooling. Can't use chinstrap/cushion alone... I have an overbite, so these devices tend to keep my jaw to the rear... bad. I'm using a MAD now, for an hour before bed... this helps a lot, I avoid clenching my jaw until morning... AHI zero baby!
I am a mess. I use the F20 with DreamStation. I also have to use Breathe Right strips on my nose. I forgot to put mine on last night and I woke up after a few hours with dry mouth, dry teeth and parched lips. Had to put a Halls Cough Drop in my mouth and sleep with it to keep my mouth lubricated. Still have dry mouth often. I tightened the F20 straps to the point they become uncomfortable. I sleep on side and the mask will break the seal where I get whistles. I have always breathed through my mouth for decades when I sleep. If you can keep the mask rigid it prevents your mouth from opening up as much. I always wake up several times to drink water. All those devices where you attach to head won't work for me. I struggle to sleep so any added items like a neck brace or chin strap will disrupt my sleep even more. My AHI incidents are very low. Periodic breathing usually 1%. Still feel totally exhausted. Thought about using tape on mouth but what good is that if I still wake up to drink water. Once you remove the tape it doesn't stick the same way again. The one thing the CPAP did stop is waking up in panic from being trapped. You can never get back to sleep from that fear/fight adrenaline that races through you body when your breathing is interrupted. As far as changing the F20 mask it was the only one at the Sleep Center that felt comfortable. The nose mask won't work because I would breath through my mouth. I'm also on Medicare and all my supplies are shipped. Unfortunately my Dr picked the supplier. I asked him why not one local I can drive to and he said it's automatically selected. With Medicare they are free. I would never want to pay for my own supplies they are so expensive.
I wake up sometimes with the bottom edge of the cushion lightly gripped by my mouth. (!). Guess that is what I do to solve jaw drop? I wear the style that rests just above nose, lower than the top of nose. Alternatively, I adjust the lower straps tighter when "fart noise" wakes me. Been a dedicated cPAP person for over 10 years.
Hi Jason, I use the airtouch F20 mask and have it where I have nights with minimal to no leaking per Oscar/SleepHQ. I use most of the water every night and have dry mouth. Any suggestions?
How do you overcome the requirement to have a prescription for whatever mask you want to try. My supplier requires me to have a prescription that is specific from my doctor. I have tried three different resmed masks p10, f20 and f40. I have had the most success with F20. I have mouth drop and when the jaw doesn’t drop I get lip bleed. I get dray mouth with all masks.
I use a high(er?) air pressure on my Bi-Pap machine, 28on my inhale and 18 on exhale. Was given a Air Fit F20. After having the therapist recommend a medium size I'd constantly leak over 100 l\min. She said I'd never go below 100. I had the same mask in a small size and managed to reduce and eliminate leaks through tighter straps. But, I would still wake up from leaks and mega dry mouth. Have a Phillips Dream Wear, the one like you demoed on this video. Still leaks! Will try fitting it better. I'm not using my machine enough. Have to do something!
I can breathe through my nose during the day, but when I try a nasal mask, even with mouth taping, I wake up feeling like absolute DUNG even with no leaks showing on OSCAR.
FP Simplus full face is awesome but that Vitera looks interesting. Evora would be a big fail, trying to breath thru those holes. Knightsbridge cap in winter.✔ And sometimes a cervical collar. ✔ You should have people look into tongue posture exercises too. Highly recommend buckwheat hull pillow also. Great vid. Thanks.
I have the Vitera and like it. My problem is I sleep on my side and sometimes I move wrong and push the mask sideways a bit. Then the leaks. Only been at it for a couple weeks. Sure I will learn to stop moving, lol.
I have the Simplus and I am constantly having problems with the swivel leaking....badly. Then I am forced to jamb it into place which only lasts about 2 weeks before the unit is shot. Any issues or fixes that you have seen? I am about to silicone the swivel into place! Great video!
I have broken my nose too many times any pressure on my nose collapses the cartlidge (or what is left of it) and thats why I mouth breathe. Also a stomach sleeper need to find a good mask for that currently the one I have been using id the resmed f30. I tried the tube out the top by philips and the problem is if you pinch off a tube the flow is so reduced that I wake up feeling like i am suffocating, I would raise the pressure but it became way to noticable when changing head position while sleeping.
So when do us older ladies put on our face creams? Just starting with a ResMed 11 full face mask, one week in, not too successful yet, but determined. Thanks for your videos.
I have been so tempted to switch to full-face to both mitigate dry-mouth and to stop the nightly injury masks render to the nose bridge. This video rescued and disabused me from both wrong solvos. Your prior advice to mouth-tape does help a lot.
Great video! I just got my OSA Diagnosis a couple of days ago, so I’m trying to learn as much as I can about CPAP devices etc. One question: I heard “medical implant” mentioned twice, but I don’t know what that refers to. Can someone tell me? Thanks!
Thanks for your great videos! Just something you may not know-one more possible reason for not being able to use a nasal only mask. I had a blocked tear duct replaced ( normal tear duct has a one way valve into the back of the nose, but my replacement duct has a two way valve. This is a fairly common procedure but it means high air pressure blows air through to the back of my nose and results in air being forced into my eye. Very irritating!!
I'm loving these videos. If I can make one suggestion, could I request jokes about OCD not be made? I know someone with OCD, and it's unfortunately a very debilitating disorder. Ruminations, compulsions where she scrubs her hands until they're raw and bleeding and spends hours on hours compelled to scrub things clean. It's a small thing, but I know this channel is for people with sleep apnea, which can be considered a disability, and it often has a lot of misinformation attached to it. It would be great to avoid misrepresenting other disabilities even if only in passing. Aside from that though, I haven't seen anything worth mentioning and I appreciate the content here immensely.
Why does my f30 mask let me inhale, but not exhale? Machine on full face setting and exhale setting is on. Need full face mask for frequent nasal infections.
With COVID ...not much trying on. My bipap pressure too high for just nose thingy, mouth opens too much because of pressure. Duct tape baby.... But I seem to get slight leaks by my eyes
Okay, so I’d love a recommendation. I have used the ResMed F20 (size small) for years, and the one thing I dislike is that I always get air blown into my eyes. So a few months ago I went with the full face-under the nostril type, and I’m pretty sure I’ve got the drop-jaw problem. Anyway, I’d prefer to go back to the F20, but I think my eyes are too close, so if the mask sits where it’s supposed to, that’s why I get the eye blast. Is there any other mask options I could try?
I recently ordered the F&P Vitera mask and have a major question. As soon as I tried using it (ResMed BiPap) I got a major leak error from the machine. After trying to adjust it on my face I realized that a strong stream of air was coming out of the ventilated hole in the middle of the mask! There was no way to reach any acceptable pressure level with that large perforated opening. So I put tape over the area to close it off and now it performs better than any mask I’ve had.
My mom likes the noise mask. However, I noticed mouth leaks when she sleeps. So I told her to try a full mask or tape her mouth. The only solutions I saw. Now that she is wearing a full mask will it solve her dry mouth? I feel like her mouth is slightly open with a full mask. But no leaks, is that okay?
When I use a full face mask, I use the resmed F30i, I also like the Knights-Bridge chin strap, but adds to much bulk with the F30i. I don’t know with the full face mask, if it is chin drop, or the fact that I move my head into the pillow, and push the mask with the pillow. So with the chinstrap, I think I need to up the frame size.
Just found your channel. I use bi-pap with full face mask. I get the classic “face farts” but not under my chin but rather on the upper sides just above my mouth and along my nose. I found two ways to solve this. The first way is to tighten the straps to the point you feel strangled and uncomfortable to wear the mask. The second remedy I do is sleep with my face half buried into my pillow but that leaves me with a sore neck. My pulmonary doctor sent me back to the fitting at Cpap place who got me a different manufacture mask that straps differently around my head but again, it has to either be too tight or buried in my pillow. Do you have any tutorials on leaking masks other than jaw drop?
I use bi PAP at 28 intake\18 exhale. I believe that the farts on upper side of mask are from jaw drop. In Ab. Canada the government supplies my "stuff" for me. But, I need to use it 4 hours per night, on average. I haven't been able to do it, so far. On the verge of having it taken away from me. Hopefully I can get it working better? Cheers.
Iran and hid from the hybrid masks. I had massive dry mouth. Switched to a nasal pillow mask and once in a while I have jaw drop again bhut it was still the smartest decision I’ve made for my sleeping.
I just tighten the bottom straps of my AirFit F20 much more than the upper straps (fitting while chin over breast). It's not that uncomfortable and my mask seal is quite good.
I have a Redmed machine. I wear a full face mask, the kind that goes over the nose. I am a mouth breather. The medium mask is too small, but the large feels too large. Should I stay with the large? Thanks
Using Resmed 10 heated hose. Waking with dry mouth because mouth leaking. Taped my mouth last night and still woke with dry mouth. Please advise. Sincerely Js
🤔 I use the nasal pillows because i kept getting the farty sounds on my face cheeks area and waking up. i always wondered to simply wrap a piece of velcro around my head if my jaw is dropping, which i know believe it is and causing my face farty sounds. i just wanted an excuse to say farty face sounds a lot.😁
Thanks Jason I appreciate your videos……love the humour as well. I am going through this issue now, I have switched from a p30i which I love but my doc says I mouth breath. I absolutely can’t stand the chin strap so I have ordered a mouth guard, fingers crossed. I also have a Simplus and with some beard and moustache trimming I get a decent seal most of the time but other nights not so much. Very frustrating
Every single mask I've tried has an issue thus far. The ResMed AirFit P30i, the ResMed AirFit N30i and the Phillips Dreamwear Under the Nose Nasal all leak. I've tried the Bleep Dreamport which doesn't leak but requires adhesives that are one time use which I'd like to avoid. Do you have any recommendations for new masks to try that aren't full face and don't require single use components? What are your current favorites?
I bought a mask that covers true full face eyes everything you didn’t put that one in your video it makes a lot of noise out of nasal holes what can we do
I have tried everything to keep air in and stop farting...but no matter what I do air keeps escaping my mouth. I use a nasal mask (Resmed comfort gel) and it works ok but I keep getting infected hairs or zits just under my nose which are quite painful. I use a chin strap and medical tape over my mouth but still can't sleep more than four hours to six and am tired all of the time. I also feel like I am not getting enough oxygen but my o2 count seems fine. I get dry mouth because the tape doesn't hold. I tried a N20 full face but it was horrible. Without tape covering my mouth I get air bleed and my lips flap. I can't keep going like this much longer. I weigh too much for the implant and would need to lose 75 lbs or more to qualify for one.

Thelankyleft27 i have only been using my cpap full face mask f30i. My only problem ive had is mask seal . How do i fix that
Thank you
I was having problems getting a good seal and also jaw drop, I have a large nose and a recessed chin so it was looking hopeless. Hope this helps someone!
careful about chin tucking. It may cause some problems.
Your comment helped me fix my problem, thank you 😄
Jason, rubbing it a lot, seal ?
i'm going to book some paid time to go over my treatment but just so i don't burn all of it being a fangirl, dude you are saving me so much pain.
Is this spray one of those that you can only use 1-3 days or you get addicted?
Im going to try this! Thanks!🎉
Ditto down to the afib
Give yourself some grace - breathing through the mouth means your nose can't bring in enough air to keep your throat open, so we just need a machine to blow hard on us to help 😂 it's kinda silly, if you think about it
I use surgical tape to keep my mouth closed
Me too! But I don't want to invite stroke, or heart attack
I'm with you! We need room pressurizing. Or a company to scan your head for a custom fit. I want a mask to also go under the jaw line. And they are working on a 3d printed landing pad on the moon.
we need a better design.and the sizing on the airtube is laughable.
Philips Dream Wear nasal cushion completely ended my leaking issues. 100%
This + full coverage mouth tape has me sleeping better than I have in a long , long time.
I started with full face was terrible.Switched to ResMed AirFit N30 works great. I’m a mouth breather . I use face wash for oily skin and apply a strip of 3M Transpore Tape(in expensive)
My Air sleep score averages 94
Everything leaked on automatic mode sooo switched to cpap mode and put it on 8 pressure....voila no more leaks on all masks and very low ahi.
Jason.. great show.. a real solution to mask leak is a product called cpap gel mask leak sealer.
I do this exact same routine with the same mask and no leaks. Only difference is that I use the Resmed F20 AirTouch (Memory Foam cushion). Cheers!
I have the f20, also the memory foam. I like them both. I had the blue gel mask in comparison half the weight. I find washing my fash well.blot dry. I wet the edge of the mask, it tends to adhere to my face.
Thanks Mike. I’m going to give this a try!
OMG !!!!!!!!! Lefty is a righty too. Now we are disoriented.
I had sleep apnea for years .I didn't know this so I believed I had dementia . This machine has saved my life and sanity.
I actually got the full face mask n I just started using mine n I don't have any problems with mine at all
Great videos, Jason.
(not for views, but for getting what I consider quality information out there)
Thank you! My hubby needed this video. His mask leaks a lot.
I guess my medical supply company missed the recall notice. They literally just shipped me the exact model in this video..lol...wonderful
It's really only for people with medical implants.
I’d like to try this. I’m having an awful time with the problems you’re discussing. How can I get one with the custom fix like yours?
I’m desperate here
You mentioned one of your masks not to use use with a medical implant. Is a heart stent considered an implant?
Glad you saw this. It completely applies to what we discussed today.
You didn't mention anything on dry month, the reason I watched!
Helpful video, thanks.
None of those things worked.
Tried chin guard, mouth tape and bite guard. I guess I just can’t keep my mouth shut😊
Soft cervical collar up next!
Great vid. Thanks.
I turned off EPR setting on my resmed 10 and my jaw drop stopped 90% vs epr turned on
I have the Vitera and like it.
Do all the masks that you have demonstrated in this video work with a ResMed sleep machine?
Yes. All masks work for all machines. One exception being the ResMed AirMini....they're dicks. You need an adapter for it to make other masks work.
Full Face Mask deal breaker for me. Nasal pillows pushing it for me but works.
Where can I go get fitted for a full mask? My respiratory lady is not much help and my mask leaks

I would add that a full face mask is needed for those who won’t wear tape or have a mouthpiece for mouth leak issues
So, if you have to wear a chinstrap anyway (jaw drop) why not just switch to nasal pillows or nasal mask?
I have a full face mask, over the nose. It causes me to break out with pimples on my nose?
Several. Here is one of them: ua-cam.com/video/ExtPO3-S6t8/v-deo.html
*over chest
Switch to a Bleep Dream Port. No mask, no head gear and no leaks. And I have a beard and mustache.
I have a Redmed machine. I wear a full face mask, the kind that goes over the nose. I am a mouth breather. The medium mask is too small, but the large feels too large. Should I stay with the large? Thanks
I only use Full face N20 Resmed is the best !
Using Resmed 10 heated hose. Waking with dry mouth because mouth leaking. Taped my mouth last night and still woke with dry mouth. Please advise.
Sincerely
Js
I am using an Amara View while suffering covid…nose blocked. Love it…but the vent blows air into my eyes
My problem with the full mask is it leaks when I close my mouth. It only makes a good seal when my mouth is open.
My concern is events per hour. With the F30i my events increased. With the N30i and a chin strap and mouth tape my events dropped a lot. Any advice?
I bought a mask that covers true full face eyes everything you didn’t put that one in your video it makes a lot of noise out of nasal holes what can we do
Jason did taping to the bottom of thr mask work ?
Any advice for guys with bushy whiskers?
did the tape trick wind up workiing Jason? thanks!
What is your opinion of the F&P Evora full mask the newest one
