    When I first got my machine, my Doc set me at 8-12. I felt like I was breathing thru a straw, and I looked at the data and saw I went to 12 within minutes of falling asleep. I changed it to 12-20, and things have been great. At my 30 day check up, my Doc looked at my data, and made a comment about how good he did setting up my machine. I didn’t say a word.

      LOL, yes, mine set me up at 4-20 which worked ok until I found that the 4 should really be higher. Thanks to a YT clip, I discovered how to change settings. I doubled to 8, and only last eve I lowered the 20 to 15.
      This way I hope to live with the fact that only after 2+ years my heater system nixed itself and that a replacement heater still doesn't work.
      Also the projected 7+ years of use before $800-$900 total replacement does not hold true in my mind, but if I can reduce my dry mouth and dried out eyes with lower pressures, so be it.

    You saved me. My machine has been giving me a headache and my ent suggested reducing the max pressure. Here in Denmark they do it remotely from the hospital. Well, as luck would have it, we're having a nurses strike. They are the one's in charge of dealing with the CPAP's here. Now, I don't need them. Thanks.

    The only time EPR should be used is if you have an underlying neuromuscular condition that effects respiratory function such as muscular dystrophy or spinal muscular atrophy. Because it actually stops the person from exerting too much energy when breathing. Also people with these types of conditions are at risk of a build up of co2 in their blood which means that they enter into an acidotic state.

    Jason, thank you for this channel and this video was such a home run for answering some of the questions I've been having lately. I've been using OSCAR now to track my data and trying to get to the bottom of the past few weeks all of a sudden in APAP just not working well for me any more. My O2 drops so often in the night now that I'm constantly getting warnings on my lookee oximeter ring. I had recalled in one of your previous videos having you say you didn't care for the EPR setting because of messing up the CO2. I'm definitely trying the CPAP mode with no EPR tonight and watching the OSCAR data in the morning to see how I respond. I had the sleep study last night but I have to wait TWO WEEKS before the doctor has time for my what to do next appointment!! Meanwhile, my days are just complete exhaustion. I just wanted to THANK YOU for this super timely video. It was exactly what I needed right now. Definitely supporting you in one way or another for your hard work in educating us! I'll be signing up for the OSCAR review for example if I still remain stumped on what to do next. More soon! thanks again!

    Quick question. I switched from the F&P Vitera full mask to the ResMed AirFit N20 nasal mask. When changing the settings, the ResMed AirFit N20 info. said to set it on “pillows” instead of “nasal”. Any particular reason why? It’s a nasal mask, not the nasal pillows that go in your nostrils, so that didn’t make sense to me, but I put it on “pillows” like it said. Also, where can I find & get “Oscar”? The AirSense 10 manual says it includes an SD card, but it doesn’t come with one, do that didn’t make much sense either.

    I had COVID a month ago and since then I haven’t been able to keep my CPAP on for more than an hour or 2. Feels like I cannot exhale, which I am guessing is related to lasting lung issues from covid. I know you stated the EPR is best to be left off, which is what my doctor has it set at, but I was thinking about turning it on and setting it at 1 and see. Have you heard of anyone else having an issue like this after covid? I did not have a severe case of COVID ( had a total of 5 Pfizer shots due to Afib wanted to minimize the effects when I caught it)

    • @JaimeDornanLady
      @JaimeDornanLady 3 роки тому

      Look at the video at -9.48, -9.50. The ramp time is a feature that makes the CPAP start at a lower pressure and gradually build up to what you need when you finally fall asleep. That helps you have a more gradual increase, instead of the immediate shock of a high pressure blowing at you. Some pple. tolerate it better by starting at a lower pressure as they’re falling asleep.

    • @IHeartQuilting2
      @IHeartQuilting2 3 роки тому +1

      According to Resmed, the machine can identify when you are likely falling asleep. It adjusts the ramp for that so that you are ramped up shortly after you've fallen asleep. Look at your Oscar data with and without and you can see that difference.

So my ramp is set for 20 minutes and by the time I've fallen asleep, it has slowly ramped up to my best setting (which is around 12). 6 years on, still need the ramp. Nothing about EPR yet my machine is set to EPR ON Full time, level 3. Wondering why it’s set this way and maybe this is why I am not tolerating CPAP after 4 years of compliance. I'd like to know if one of your devices would respond to that specific issue : a breathing from the patient that doesnt stop brutally like in an apnea, but which has a minute ventilation continuously low in the few minutes after falling asleep (long insp. and exp. time, no obstruction), which ends up waking him up and not fully falling asleep. The nights when this event doesnt happen, the minute ventilation has a higher average and the sleep is ok.

    Hello, I am curious. @7:28 You say that the Dreamwear nasal mask should be on the nasal setting, but Resmed actually recommends the pillow setting for its version of this mask (n30i). I wonder if it is the same for the Dreamwear? or should I leave it on the nasal setting?

      I'm going by what a Respironics rep told me. It could be complete B.S.. It's not something that I'm able to "look into", so I haven't. I'd take that comment you're referring to with a grain of salt. That said, when I use the Dreamwear under the nose cushion, I do so with it on the nasal setting and have had no problems to speak of. I might try a nasal pillow setting and see if it has an effect on the OSCAR reported leak rate. Other than that I can't see what else it would effect.

    Do you have a video on how to setup the modem so a sleep physician has remote access to the data on the ResMed Airsense/Aircurve 10 Auto BiPAP machine?

    • @JaimeDornanLady
      @JaimeDornanLady 3 роки тому

      It may already be set up like that. My DME co. did that when they programmed mine. Also, you can go into the MyAir app , look under “profile” on bottom right, click “settings”, then click on “share with provider”. It allows data to be viewed remotely by your provider. Like I said, though, they may have it already done another way. I didn’t have that checked on mine, yet both my pulmonologist & the DME co. already had access to that.

    Essential Mode has nothing to do with myAir or data at all. It simply changes the options available in the patient mode. 'Plus' gives some additional options over selecting 'on'.

    • @ALbino998
      @ALbino998 3 роки тому

      @TheLankyLeft27 can you chime in on this? In your N30i review you specifically mention that we should set it (and the Dreamwear O.G. under-nose equivalent) to Pillow and not Nasal, but then in this video @7:20 you say that the Dreamwear is specifically a Nasal mask. Here's a link to the original video with timestamp where you say that according to Resmed themselves we should set them to Pillow:
      ua-cam.com/video/8RLjO1t-Qg8/v-deo.html
      I think this is a big point of confusion, and I remember when I watched your N30i video last year I went and changed my Airsense 10 from Nasal to Pillow to accommodate my Dreamwear. If this is wrong and we should switch back to Nasal let us know. Thanks!

I don’t think any dr saw the machine since the day i got it. my problem is I put it on every night air pillows and on the app it shows I take it off after about three hours in my sleep. do you think that the settings something could be wrong with the settings that this is happening? I doubt anyone looked at it the cloud I just got a watchpat home
    test I woke up. One of the sensors was off of my chest. The results said I have AHI 46.5 I have to look that up too 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @LankyLefty27,Hey, got a question... I'm 2 nights into using APAP, it's used, resmed 10, annnd I'm really not having any problems adjusting to it, I mean I wake up a couple times but I'm able to tolerate a nasal mask and apparently am able to keep my big facehole shut without any assistance. 🤷‍♂️ My machine says I had 8lpm then 14 lpm mask leak. It also says I'm having 0 to 0.9 AHI. From 30.3 on my sleep study. Is everything sounding normal ish to you?

    can you explain the therapy selection of what is best to use ? (cpap, S, vauto). my doctor set me up on 18.0/12.0. at 18 it keeps blowing my mask off. i reduced the high pressure to 17.0 and it seems better, with leaks every now and then. my current AHI is 1.8. think i would benefit by even reducing high pressure to 16.0 ? (i have the resmed aircurve v10 auto)

    I just paid $2,200 for my airsense 10 in july '23. The air mini which I also bought was $1,300. I like the mini the best and can change all the settings on the phone.
    The data is nowhere near enough but I've set the therapy based on the pressures used each night and I set the minimum and maximum pressure based on those. It's finally getting comfortable and the events are around 1 or 2.
    At least I'm up from 60's sats to mid 80's so there's still some tweaking to do.

    Really like your videos..do want to make a comment about t6e ramp features. I was first diagnosed in 2016..First machine recalled Phillips .
    My first experience with the machine was at full pressure and could hardly stand it. Almost turned me off to CPAP therapy. Covid came and I was off therapy about a year and a half and then my recalled unit was shipped back to Phillips and. Ow lost in their warehouse. Now I do agree that after you adjust to script pressure turn off ramp. But I did find and some of my acquaintances found using ramp helped during adjustment period.. About a week and then I shut it off ..

I don't get on fully with the sleep team as when I was first using it I was still having 25 apnea per hour and they said this is normal. Which it is not. My sleep nurse is a butt hole. I use a f30 full face what setting should I use
