She is truly an inspiration to young and old alike. I am 74, recently had to give up running because of hip problems. Have followed Katelyn on youtube since her high school days. She is truly one of the few feel good stories in any form of sport today. Win loose or draw, her personality casts bright sunshine wherever she goes. There will be bumps in the road, but she is an amazing young lady.
If there is one thing Katelyn does after every race is recognize the efforts of her fellow runners. She pats them on the shoulder, hugs them, or shakes their hand, but she doesn't just walk away as too many of her opponents do at times. She is a class act.
@@slayer8actual1 - Most people are buggered after running this. 2 - Covid 19 anyone? What is this fascination with touching everyone, it is bizarre. 3 - She’s only doing it to gain kudos. It makes you look good.

Squeezed out to the back of the pack. Made it all up on the outside, dropped it down into passing gear and flew to the lead. Then hit the afterburners and never looked back. Such a class act to be so dominant.
You're right. That was an Einstein level move. They closed in tight in front of her, so she fell all the way back to dead last and moved around the whole pack while they were still finding their pace. Amazing!
Smart strategy. Let all the hyper ones expel all their energy in the first 30 seconds. Don't get tripped or twist an ankle. Get to the outside and move up carefully, and slowly set YOUR pace. The race will come to you. Know your times, and work to improve. In the end, DOMINATE!
She's so small compared to most of the other runners. But her stride length is big and it visibly looks like her stride rate is faster than all the rest.
@@bluenetmarketing Yeah honestly this is probably the only thing that might hold her back from elite status it is hard to run a hundred or more steps than your opponents (in say 5K) and win races.
When the race began, it was crowded and a real potential "trip festival." Tuohy didn't panic. She dropped back, knew she could just round the field and kick it. Whew. She's in another class altogether.
She definitely had to burn some extra energy to get up there but it offset the risk of getting boxed in. I like how she ratcheted it right up when she got to the front outside lane to snag the pole position.
Ingebretsson does the same thing in qualifying rounds. It’s what to do if you completely outclass the opposition as she goes. Keep out of trouble early. Then circle and control.
The pace of this heat was way too slow for Katelyn. I think to win nationals one will need to run faster than 4:08. We know Katelyn can go 4:06; she ran that unchallenged.
Katelyn’s training regiment is going the extra mile. In her example of life, she is not covered in ugly tattoos to attract attention, she uses her platform to encourage excellence in life. God Bless you, The Bear 🐻 🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Katelyn did what she needed to qualify. A pedestrian (for her) opening 800, then started to stride out enough to stay in control, and then tested her finishing sprint. No need to expend herself as I believe this was run before the 5000.
Semi-finals are June 8th. After all these races, the Finals will be June 10th. Katelyn will need to get at least a 4th place in her semi-final to get to the finals where she has the potential to break another record. Go KT
Very good running from Katelyn 😊❤ However I'm a little bit worried as it seems to me that she does not keep to her pace when nearing the end of the race. To me it seems as if Katelyn goes into coasting mode. That could cost her some races in the future. She does not have to do that because she's not tired 😮. Congratulations to Katelyn.

Without wishing to be a killjoy, the world record go reset in Florence with week. The first 10 came in around 13 seconds fasher than this heat, and Kenyan Faith Kipyegon ran 3:49.11. So Katelyn needs to move up in class soon and test herself against the best. Next season’s European Diamond League i would suggest. Not sure what the NCAA rules are about that and amateur status. She’s got lovely, economical gait which doesn’t waste a lot of energy or momentum, so if she can continue to build endurance I think the speed/kick is already there at the 800, and she could fulfil her promise.
Biggest stretch for the title of a video. She was never really in last place other than coming right out of the box and her move to stay unencumbered in the pack. With her brains, coaches and closing speed, she was NEVER in jeopardy. 😅

Odd start for Katelyn, swinging around the back at the beginning and settling in from the outside. She's just too good.
I agree. Makes me think others inadvertently were blocking her and she had to do this to get in front.

She knew she had regularly run faster than the PRs of anyone else in the heat. No reason to risk getting boxed in just to save a few strides.
