every loss tuohy experiences just makes her an even more dangerous runner. what i observed is that tuohy is fearless and is not afraid of failure, instead she feeds of it, she lets it be her motivation to get even better and faster. this video gives me chills.
shes so young too, a sophomore and already running extremely fast times with an amazing range, she runs so fearlessly, lot to learn with the tactics but shes one tough warrior! bright future ahead
no kidding she was like lets go do this, it is just the kind of experience she needs though she ran a 4:12 her PR is 4:06 which would have won so she knows she can do it just needs to keep grinding.
That's track and field for you. I did quite a bit of it back when I was young, and I still remember throwing an absolute bomb of a javelin that landed... well, undecisevly. It has to go down tip first, but my angle was so shallow, it was close to illegal (or perhaps just straight up illegal). It sucked because it was my last attempt and all the previous ones were illegal as well (I had changed my technique very recently). Just when I thought I'd go out with nothing, I had three different opposing coaches arguing my case with the refs. Broke my PB by almost 10m and won the competition. The people who do this sport know that they are a very niche section of weirdoes who sacrifice so much for a hobby that very likely never pays off monetarily and that brings an incredible camaraderie.
I love the epic coverage of this event! The runners speak so well and I love Gear's assessment and complement of Tuohy after she was passed: "Katelyn's so fluid I could just match that." Their fist bump before the anchor leg was legendary and heart-warming!
nc state gets overlooked for the past years, specially on track (but is about to change with katelyn tuohy on their team) but they have lead elevate ncaa distance running with their very young distance running squad, they rank number 1 in the 3000m-5000m distance for the last 2 years, and their top runners has 2-3 years of college running left...for them to thrive and be competitive at a 1500m relay is pretty impressive. this experience for these young guns, will only make them better.
Fantastic spectacle! I so admire every competitor from first to last in every event, and every coach, official and helper involved in the organising, administrating and filming of these meets.
I quite enjoyed seeing the heavy logistical efforts which occur behind the scenes to enable these races. Ultimately though, I’ve shared this full event with friends who have never watched T&F. They were hooked! and impressed at the strength, endurance and entertaining aspects to this interchanging race. Excellent stuff 💪🏻
For some odd reason this was in my recommended and I really don't even care for women's running but now I'm looking for every tuohy and gear race..them 2 are badass!
The music was a trifle overly dramatic, but great camera work, particularly beyond the scope of the race itself. Katelyn's fist bump before they ran the anchor leg - that was pretty cool.
Loved, loved, loved this music. Classical instrumentation just seems to belong with the sport- beautifully done! Was this music written and composed separately from the production? Best.
katelyn tuohy just won acc 1500m in 4:06 !! dropped everyone and time trialed for the win!! if you watch at 9:37 - katelyn was frustrated and sad despite running 4:09 because I guess she knew she could run so much faster glad to see her win and show her 1500m prowess!! but so unfortunate that we will not see a gear vs tuohy at 1500m because katelyn will only run 5000m at ncaas :((
Both teams needed recognition for an historic race. The winner was 15 seconds faster than the National Record and second place was 13 1/2 seconds faster than the previous National Record. It’s a stunning improvement on the National Record. Again Katelyn Tuohy reminds me of Steve Prefontaine , by attempting to sprint for the remaining 800 meters. The teams were so very prepared for the race. The poised concentration on the girls faces was truly impressive.
@@sgtcrab2569 Well, sort of. Touhy ran a faster leg; but I think she made the decision to pass too soon. I've seen her do that in a few races now. Hopefully she'll learn to be a little more patient.
Oh no, I want to hug katelyn! why nobody hugged her? Katelyn is such an amazing and strong runner that people forget she's actually so young, she ran well yet she was so frustrated, a hug can ease what she's feeling.. I hope her teammates hugged her or her family
I've read that the Young twins had been sick and in bed until they left for the meet. So they did very well finishing where they did. It takes training and guts to run sick. As forAaron, he is a phenomenal half-miler who has spent the last couple of years finishing within a few seconds of his brother and the Youngs, so I was just wondering when he was going to be put in a position where he had to do more for the team than finish 30 feet behind the Youngs. This race was that time, and he rose to the occasion. I was very pleased for him, but not really surprised. He kicked butt.
I'm from Russia. And for 4 years now I've been rooting for Katelyn Tuohy as if I were my own. She is a very talented girl. I wish her health and great victories! She reminds me of a very talented, young Russian skier, Olympic champion, Veronika Stepanova.
Probably hired a cinematic editor who chopped everything up to assess shots for aesthetic value, and in the process they lost track of the continuity. At least they posted the full race separately.
One of those races where high school front running loses to experience. Passing with two laps to go was a blunder, but sure made for a dramatic race. Great colour commentary and editing!
You could be right, but also think of the deficit she made up. If she had stayed with her until the final 100 or 200, would Katelyn have been able to pass and outsprint her? The other girl had the speed at the end... But if Katelyn hadnt started the last 200 already tired from the attack.... Who would have the speed left in the tank at the end? Still, great splits there and overcame a good deficit.
Anyone know the starting lists for 2023 for the women's 4X1500? Does Arkansas and NC State still look like the top two teams this year? I tried to find the start lists on the Penn Relays website, etc. to no avail.
I love the fact that Tuohy offered Gear a fist bump, it's a cool moment there. Anyway, I've just heard of her, I thought she's the fastest runner now. Is that wrong? Since she lost to Gear here.
I don't understand why ppl are sad for tuohy. she ran great despite she started further than gear. it was nc st vs arkansas at the end. not tuohy vs arkansas team.
every loss tuohy experiences just makes her an even more dangerous runner. what i observed is that tuohy is fearless and is not afraid of failure, instead she feeds of it, she lets it be her motivation to get even better and faster. this video gives me chills.
I know. We all love her. She tried with the pass and did great. Not a win, but the experience will help her within a year. Olympic is for her.
shes so young too, a sophomore and already running extremely fast times with an amazing range, she runs so fearlessly, lot to learn with the tactics but shes one tough warrior! bright future ahead
@@CL-oi6im you know that the coaches are on the infield. That's legal.
She feeds on losing and keeps losing . LOL .
@@CL-oi6im bright future until burn out or getting caught on drugs . Wait and see .
Tuohy offering a fist bump to her opponent was unexpected and quite cool 5:51 made Gear smile and everyone.
For real.
no kidding she was like lets go do this, it is just the kind of experience she needs though she ran a 4:12 her PR is 4:06 which would have won so she knows she can do it just needs to keep grinding.

And Arkansas’s Gear at 5:17 yelling encouragement to NC State’s Samantha Shaw and her own teammate Lauren Gregory. That sportsmanship is nice to see.
I love the epic coverage of this event! The runners speak so well and I love Gear's assessment and complement of Tuohy after she was passed: "Katelyn's so fluid I could just match that." Their fist bump before the anchor leg was legendary and heart-warming!
0:31 slo mo always gets me! that was so cinematic!
Fantastic job, FloTrack, on a truly memorable race. Both teams crushed the record, and this also deserves an award.
It has been fun watching this NC State crew the last few years... raising the bar in the ACC and nationally.
hope she got alot hugs and affirmations, she did so well! heads up katelyn!
Djk34💘💝🥰🥰 are you single how old you are
Very high production values. Very well put together.
'Very well put together'?
The overtake in the final leg wasn't even featured in the video?
Sorry, but this wasn't 'very well put together' at all.
Quickly becoming one of my most re-watched video. Well produced and great source material. Two amazing teams.
yep, the commentary and footage here was AMAZING
What an absolutely epic race! And the sportsmanship impeccable! I love this sport!

this is too good to be the last one, flotrack we are counting on you guys! thank you for this amazing ultimate highlight!
Krissy Gear played that perfectly. No substitute for experience. Enjoyed this vid!

begging flotrack to do more edits like this
Gear just looks so strong. Great looking form.
Reminds me of Shannon Rowbury
Word..straight up..whereas katelyn is more forward leaning
Krissy Gear ran a hell of a final leg. Congrats! Razorbacks
They are AWESOME! SO MUCH TALENT AND BEAUTY!
everything about this is good 👌🏻

That fist bump caught me by surprise...two awesome competitors

Well edited video. This is like the end of a movie.
flotrack delivers if its katelyn tuohy
Feel real bad for Touchy she gave everything to come back even dragging the other team into a record,
I'm sure this will only make her stronger,👏👏
I believe Katelyn ran a 4:12 on her leg? 2 weeks later she won the ACC 1500 with a 4:06.83 so she continues to get stronger!
Yup
let's go !! what a race !! from france
A really excellent race and presentation !
Great race!
Fantastic story telling, FloTrack.
I'm just hear to follow Katelyn Touhy...big fan! Go Katelyn! The Arkansas girl was awesome to win and set a new record!
Thanks for getting this together on the pitch don't get any better go NCAA track

The scorching 4:06 she ran at ACC was pure revenge. Jenny Simpson's NCAA record 3:59 is in reach.
Sick edit 👏👏👏👏
Badass. Great video.
Phenomenal video!
this "ultimate highlight" is so well done. you should roll credits at the end of it.
This was enjoyable to watch
Best video flo track put together !!
the girl from Arkansas ran like a champion, love Katlyn Tuohy since she was 14
What atmosphere!!
What a great race!!!
BEAST MODE. rooting for Katelyn!! hoping she continues to improve.
Gotta love the incidental music. It's like watching Chariots of Fire with the soundtrack from Barry Lyndon.
Welldone!!!! I love you!!!!
I was rooting for Tuohy but couldn't help but cheer for Gear.
The Mans attempt was not as good as this. This was epic the whole way through.
There was no men attempt.. They did a 4 x 1 mille(10 meters more) and still did it faster. So what do you mean?
Great video
Awesome! Unbelievable!
god damn what a battle
Wow what a battle! :)
Tuohy is a beast at 5K. The shorter runs give the runners with a kick a chance. Tuohy takes the kick out of them in the longer runs.

These girls are tough. Congrats Razorbacks
You might accidently make T&F more popular if you keep this level of production up!
I’m a big Katelyn Touhy fan. Go Wolfpack!
the 6:50 / 7:00 clips are out of order.. based on the Gear-Tuohy gap.
5:41 and 5:48 also, reversed orders of Shaw / Gregory.
Probably hired a cinematic editor who chopped everything up to assess shots for aesthetic value, and in the process they lost track of the continuity. At least they posted the full race separately.

Tuohy is going to be on the cover of sports illustrated swimwear magazine
Congratulations Arkansaw.

Arkansas a great University....
Katelyn did close about half the deficit she inherited at the finish line.
