Katelyn ran two races and WON two races last night, she ran three races in total for the double-event win. She is expected to do the same at Nationals. The 1500m/5000m double means that Katelyn will have to run THREE races in the NCAA Nationals, which are 1500m semifinals, 1500m finals and 5000m finals. No runner has successfully won both 1500m and 5000m titles after NCAA changed the events schedule which made the 1500m finals and 5000m finals just 30 minutes apart. It is a very hard double.
Most of the focus at the NCAA's will be on Katelyn and Britton Wilson as both go for very hard doubles. Britton will try to win both the 400m open and 400m hurdles that are also about 30 minutes apart. Possibly the top 2 in contention for The Bowerman. Running is just so exciting to follow nowadays!!!
@@igloozoo3771The east and west preliminaries in Division I men's and women's track and field have concluded after four days of intense competition. Katelyn is my favourite but today i want to applaud Alyson Churchill. Her progress has been huge this season..In her cross country runs she did ok ,then indoor she kept running really giod first halfs of her race , ,then falling away at the end, positioning outside the top 5. Now she has just ran with Americas best two girls and competed right to the end even beating Kelsey Chmiel . Phenominal 🙌🙌🙌👍💯
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing... To see KT & PV head and head... well it doesn't get much better. It l booked like PV tried to make a move to the lead near the last lap knowing she had to get a lead but Kalelyn shut her down. Kalelyn was never presssd... running so easy. Thing of beauty to watch.
Thanks to "katelyn tuohy fans" for their timely posting of her races. At my age, I probably won't see the next "runner of a generation" so I'm enjoying watching this one take on the world!
The NCAA you mean. To take on the world she has a long way to go. Her recent 5k personal best was 66 in the world in 2021 and 46 last year. I'm not saying she won't challenge the world's best in the future but we can't tell yet.
@@simmorg290 I'm just saying that the stats you quoted were for females. If you include males, Katelyn wouldn't be anywhere near as high as 46th in the world.
@Ro Bear Tuohy isn't the best for her age. Konstanze Klosterhalfen of Germany ran 1:59 for 800, 3:58 for 1500, 8:29 for 3000 and 14:51 for 5000 at the age of 20 (one year younger than Tuohy is now). I'm sure there are others. If you mean by "altitude dwellers" the east Africans well unfortunately for Tuohy she will have to compete against them.
KT being KT...runs like a gazelle. Even has presence of mind to look at her watch. 15:31 facility record. Folks, enjoy this remarkable student athlete, because the likes of her will never be equalled. Truly she represents what a student athlete stands for 🐺💐
It is absolutely inspiring to watch how sturdy her form looks even in the last lap. Something to aspire for! And I get extra inspiration being an NCSU alumni :D
Allison Churchill, in 3rd for the last few laps, was running hard. I could see the effort, the knee-lift, the turnover. She looked like she was flying. Then I looked at Tuohy, whose stride just looked more relaxed. It didn't LOOK like she was running fast enough to be leading against Churchill. Deceptive. Probably speaks to the strength in her legs that gives her more thrust forward for each stride. Of course, in the bell lap, Katelyn turned it on and looked like she was flying at that point - and she was!
@@joecausey8508 I am not a runner but I do observe and have watched enough track to have an opinion, right or wrong. I do believe that Katelyn's coach has taught her to run like man. She doesn't run like the other woman. All knowledgeable people know that woman's physical struture is different than a man's. Knees, hips, and elbows, are strutured differently. And the reason why woman cannot compete against men in most sports and why women still have difficulty throwing a ball straight. I actually believe that her coach, having taught her how to run like a man, is the reason she is so much better than her competition. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for her to have mastered that ability. The main reason why I don't think that any female will beat her no matter what level. I do think that the Jamaican runners in some respects do have Katlyn's running style but that would be in the sprint races.
Takes a runner to fully appreciate a runner... Katelyn is doing ~93 strides/min at her 5k pace, this is insanely fast. Her 1500m is at currently ~100 strides /min. Dibaba for comparison was also doing ~100 strides /min for her WR run at 1500m, but was about 6s faster per 400m. So to get to the next level she would need to work on her strength and explosiveness - assuming she wants to. It is ridiculously difficult to get to the next level.
Tuohy just appears to be unbeatable. She's focused, her training seems to be on point, and with each race she gains more experience. Tuohy wasn't racing against the others, but against her watch. It's the only reason I can think why she took the front so early.
At this point, if she stays healthy and doesn't lose her focus...she will definitely be hard to beat. Based on what I have seen, if she does those things, there simply is no one at her level (college) today that can beat her.
Katelyn has run on the front since she first started showing up on UA-cam. I would have to say she likes taking the lead, since she's capable of sitting back and waiting.
I wish I had gone to Stillwater for the XC Championship. I may have to take a trip to Austin now. I never ran track and my PB was 18:30 for a 3 mile in Boot Camp. I was a wrestler. I know what it's like to live breath and eat for the sport. KT is next level though. She had an awesome coach in High School that taught her how to train herself. Now at NC State she has a next level coach that is building on that foundation, and a team to back her up and push her to be better. I saw the interview of her out for a "light jog" to warm up, doing sub 6 minute miles and not even breathing heavy. She is never racing the pack, she is racing her time. She must have a metronome in her head that acts like a tachometer, and I do not think we have seen her redline yet. She just keep pushing herself to be better,,
The inherent capacity of some to perform at high levels of output in endurance is not unheard of, to be displayed on the National Scale is fantastic to watch, and for the young to observe. Thank you Katelyn, your continuing legacy thrives. Amazing............

That was an awesome race especially since she ran an earlier race. That final lap was unbelievable (for all three top finishers). I'm 76 now and was a dual long distance runner in high school.
She is Parker's nemesis. It's like trying to win a championship against Jordan's Bulls. So frustrating for Katelyn's competitors. She is already legendary.
It's interesting to see Tuohy's development as a runner. She used to run behind a lead girl in high school until she'd make her move. It insured, however, that she ran further than the race distance because she was always a little to the outside of the inside lane. Now she holds the lead on the most inside part of the track and also doesn't get boxed in with the other runners. You watch the stride of the Florida girl compared to Tuohy and it's the same rate until the last couple hundred of meters and then Tuohy lays on the speed. Amazing endurance.
