    Thank you 🙏 since I had so many weeds that had gone to seed, I asked the neighbours for their lovely clippings. They were more than happy for me to take them. First I asked if they’d used and pesticides/herbicides.
    I now have lovely compost ready to use. This is a great technique and thank you for sharing your knowledge

    Another quick tip for anyone worried about the cardboard damaging or blunting the lawnmower blades, wet the cardboard first. It breaks down easier and mixes a bit better with the rest of the grass and leaves.
    Don’t just wet the outer surface though, make sure it’s wet through and on the soggy side.

    Just a thought.
    Instead of struggling to chop or mow the dry cardboard just wet it down first and tear it up much more easily to mix in. It'll break down much quicker too.

    It was crumbled into a nice compost.

      Mashallah la Quwata illah billah, informative and easy to follow formula.
      I have used out of date (dates ,sultanas , and figs) to fasten the composting . You know how precious these fruits are, they are mentioned in the Quran and recommended in the Prophetic Medicine
      In fact, I have made a solution and used it on its own as a fertilizer and into soil and the compost.

    Hello my good friend. I am an avid follower. I am 74 and have been allotment gardening since you were in nappies. However I have my eyes opened by you so much I am now going to ask you what’s is purely basic questions because my veg growing is stuck in the dark ages. I have(after a 3 year break) taken on a small plot again from to start immediately. I have already marked out where to put the wood clippings, of which there is a huge pile available because I am keen to try your Potato growing method.
    We both like chips and roast potatoes and usually buy Maris Piper, but can you advise the best seed spuds to buy for this main purpose. I am looking at a First Early crop. Can you also advise what veg to plant now, before the onset of winter. I have planted onion sets at home but wonder if they will grow in your woodchip method. I live in middle England, Milton Keynes.
    Looking forward to your reply. Thanks.

    • @MyFamilyGarden
      @MyFamilyGarden  3 роки тому

      Thank you Graham for the support and encouraement. I prefer red skinned potatoes for grwoing in the 'ground' as a first early duke of york did quite well for me this year and desiree are one that i really like as a main crop. You can still sow lettuce, onions from seed, broad beans, pak choi, mustard leaves as food crops but i'd also plant lots of cover crops/green manures to protect and to build the soil - ua-cam.com/video/8vQw5Ll5L3w/v-deo.html
      Onions sets will work but it's best not to have the woodchips as deep, better to have the roots sit in the soil and the woodchip as mulch - here's an old video i did on the method of planting the onions - ua-cam.com/video/7DujTg5hs0Q/v-deo.html

    If you're short on Greens for nitrogen, you can add some ammonia to the water to charge it, or urine. I don't mean to pee on the pile either, as some suggest. I mean, use a watering can for a urinal and pour it on in large quantities. I produce 2-3 gallons a day, so this works well for me. I also use it on the garden beds in addition to regular fertilizer.
