We started a gardening plot in our community, I set it up for those who maybe didn’t have anybody, and elderly folk who wanted to meet up and get outside with their friends.
Covid of course didn’t help and people stopped looking after the plot, but I managed to keep it going with a couple of others and harvested the crops.
We gave out the produce and made sure everybody got something from the garden.
They where all chuffed and couldn’t believe they had grown this stuff.
Post Covid, the garden is going well and more and more people are getting involved.
I’m planning to do a camper build in the new year and this filter would help me out a lot, getting clean water wherever I went would be a big deal.
I have been watching your pondguru channel for years wether it be your fly fishing videos. Or even just finding bottle caps on Spanish beaches :)
Thanks for giving us and endless stream (pond) of knowledge Richard :)

Community will be massive in the next few years as we need to build a new system as fast as the old system is being destroyed.
When the covaids psyop kicked off that was a huge wake up call for people with eyes to see and it's been great to see the amount of work which has gone into community gardens and individual projects.
None of us is an island and I sometimes feel a bit isolated where I am since nobody around me sees the full picture unfortunately - it would be really great to have some neighbours who were awake but thee's still time. We've got so much to go through before 2030.

I was working Night Shift last night, (I work in a hotel)
I managed to get my mates to log in to their accounts and like the giveaway and subscribe. I was sitting at 17, and seen the next person was at 12.
Checked my phone early this morning and seen 10 likes had been added on to the other persons.
It’s a shame to see even when people are trying to do giveaways and be positive in the community, there will be people who manipulate it.

@@aringreen5971 I'm not sure where you're going with that comment as you've had your mates boost up your 'likes' and when I made the video I presumed that lots of people would do that - if there's a comment with more likes then the (currently) winning comment was either received better by the viewers of the video or that channel had more people to call on to boost the likes.
I hope that makes sense - only people with a UA-cam account can comment or like any comments so I'm not sure there is a fairer way to do it.
However, only 2 of the 10 give away videos are going to have winners based on the top comment, the other 8 will be purely random and I'll be making the winner video for all the give aways around 6pm tonight when I get finished the work.

I bought 5 chickens and installed a chicken coup in our back garden.
I also bought, battery operated air pumps for my fish tank.
I've also been on the army surplus stores looking for long shelf life products.
I've also joined this channel!!! 😁
    Hope that's good enough!

Over the last year, I have got myself a greenhouse to extend my growing season. I have learnt and set up a solar power storage system. Only a very small one, but its a start. I also have lots of water storage around the garden as well as my chickens. I'm still quite new to it all, but we all have to start somewhere.

18 months ago we moved from a busy urban town to a rural village in Cumbria. We have some old pictures of our garden which use to have 4 seasonal growing areas and we are in the process of landscaping the garden to re introduce these areas. This year we have bought a flock of chickens for our own eggs, we now buy milk direct from our neighbour who has a small herd of cows, we took your advise and bought a small generator which will power our biomass heating and hot water system if the electric goes off. We are now non dependant on gas. We have planted a small orchard and as a community of 8 houses we have set up a small community larder where we can take our produce and we can exchange it for other produce from the neighbours. In the past 18 months since we bought the property we have increased our Energy Performance Certificate from E rating when we moved in 18 months ago to now a B rating. This should make our home much more energy efficient.

I've made sure I've got pasta, rice, sauce, hotdogs, anything that has long life, and waters. I've bought gas/heater stove. This is all due to power cuts we may get, but sometimes just sit in darkness with the family and use em, we then have a great time bonding.

Me and the family(Wife and 5 boys) started an allotment to grow root vegetables for long storage aswell as preserving and dehydrating other veg and fruit, I have also installed a small wind turbine at home solely for charging communication devices such as mobile phones, I have also invested in 2 Jackery power stations + solar panels for recharging.

I could list various types of equipment and supplies that I have put together but, for me, my greatest asset is the acquisition and continual acquisition of knowledge. Without this everything that you've put together becomes short term rather than long term gain.

I've done a few things such as grow veg at home as well as at an allotment, have a large larder for bulk food, as well as invest in solar. However, I think the single most valuable thing I have done is for me and my family is to learn and educate ourselves different skills. It's really brought us closer together as a family and life seems far better without some of the complications. 👍... Best of luck everyone. ... all the best for Christmas Richard

The most important thing I have done to prep for when the s##t hits the fan is knowledge I have drawn up a map mentally and physically of where all the resources in my area can be found this includes water sources food sources and any areas to avoid
I think having the knowledge of where to go and gather the likes of water or food is essential in surviving whatever happens

Something I've done in the past 5 or so years is always had a vehicle prepared and ready to go incase SHTF actually occured, normally they've been basic non ECU Landrovers (disco 1 and defenders) then I got a sprinter and converted it into a camper van and now that is up for sale since I miss how much a capable 4x4 gives you. Thinking of an old Toyota or landrover again, Still have lots to learn on other avenues of Prepping,
    Cheers

me and my girlfriend are in the processes of buying a small house with 0,2 hectares of land (its very little i know) in the countryside, near a lady that grows chickens for the eggs and man who grows pigs, we have already talked to them when visiting the house and they told us it was very peaceful and that they generally traded food with others in that location, so i guess we are moving into a self sustainable little community, hopefully all goes well

After years of waiting lists, we finally aquired a plot at our local allotment. The whole family now chips in and grows an array of fresh fruit and vegetables. The teaching of this to the younger ones involved is truly magical, and the look on their faces and passion in their eyes from nursing and producing something from nature is just priceless. Also, a massive thanks buddy for sharing your journey towards self sustainability. Giving an insight into how cheap and easy it is to tap into nature with the right gear is top. Especially when you live in a concrete jungle that only dulls your senses. 👍

It’s just the small things for me, rechargeable batteries for use in my touches, and other bits. Looked at the Jackery and I’m still heavily considering it. Heat wise I got the outside BBQ and wood to burn for food and hot water (should water be available), I could also use it to heat something that would retain heat for hours…like stone etc for indoor use. Food wise I’ve stocked up over the past year (thanks to you) and got an extra little freezer (this is where I think I need to invest in a Jackery). I’ve re-insulated the loft, opened up the chimneys that were blocked off, but will not be silly lighting fires until I can afford to get them swept, lined and a burner installed. Stock pile of wood ready to go when needed. LED bulbs in every room. I’ve experimented with growing veg but it’s not been successful due to pests. I even tried a “sky” garden 6 foot up on a pergola I made to keep the sun off my little girl….it got infested with caterpillars. I will keep trying tho.

Unless people are fully awake to what's going on they're in for a very hard few years leading up to 2030.

I think one of the most valuable things I've done in recent years was finally learning to drive. I was 39 when i took the plunge and passed my test first time. This has opened up so many opportunities in life that were not possible when relying on public transport.

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare  Рік тому +2

I was just discussing the 'skills are currency' topic last night and driving was one of the top skills I mentioned to open up a world of possibilities yet it's a skill so many take for granted. When people think of survival skills the ability to drive should be right up there.
