Having had the unfortunate experience of having my place burn down, speaking only for myself, the reason I left so much behind was, for starters, you don’t want anything that’s going to remind you of such a traumatic event… especially if there was loss of human or pet life, like there was at my place. Plus, it just feels creepy being in the house with no electricity, and that stench in every room. Another reason is that most of the electronics in the devices were most likely fried just from the heat, and especially as it pertains to clothes, that burnt smell never really comes out…especially if the material has polyester in it. I probably spent hundreds of dollars at the laundromat washing and re-washing things I really wanted to save, but in the end I ended up just throwing them all away. Having been through it, I can totally understand why they just left everything and moved on/started over. Emotionally, sometimes that’s just the easier thing to do.😕

Whenever you're in my neck of the woods, I always want to go to the same location! 😄 It's interesting that they left it all behind but the fire damage was pretty severe. It's still surprising they didn't try to clear out at least some of the items for disposal. The leaving of items here though makes more sense then the visit you had in the old church where you found all that families belongings.
I would say the owners were paid out and left everything there to who knows, rot away I guess. Fire damage is terrible, a friend I once knew their house caught fire and they mostly put it out themselves. Fire brigade came and made sure all was doused out and the insurance assessor came and they got insurance for the damage but even though it was all repaired, you could still faintly smell the smoke still.
It was mentioned that some of the clothes suggested older people were living there. This property could have been left as is for years prior to the fire. It would be interesting to find out how long after its purchase in 2009 the fire occurred. Maybe arson for insurance money? Dunno, but it would be worthwhile to find out who owns it now and/or look into salvage rights. Saw some things in there worth $, i.e., chandelier, wicker baby pram, antiques. Be a shame for those to sit there and decay.

I have read many stories where homes have burned during remodeling. No one is usually living in it so there is no one around to stop it and it isn't noticed until it is burning on the outside
I had a house fire and it was a total loss. Everything in the house was smoke and water damaged. If you try and take that stuff with you it has to be cleaned and there is no way to clean textiles, shoes, hats, etc. You would contaminate your next home with black mold.
Place almost could've burnt entirely down if you look at every single plug and light switch even on the opposite end of the house from the fire there's scorching coming out from them. My best guess as to why so much is left is due to smoke and soot damage.
I'm impressed to see they had so much outdated stuff in the house. These people were smart and were aware of the phrase, "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Something that todays throw away generation doesn't understand, which is sad. So what if the fridge looks old. It keeps your food cold so why throw it away? If you already own a movie on vhs why bother buying it again on DVD or Blu-ray? The TV was old but It looks like an early HD model. Those were built so well that if the fire and water didn't touch it I bet it still will work. I've made a ton of money reselling out dated stuff that snobs threw away and saved it from going to waste in a landfill. They were probably able to afford that nice house because they weren't remodeling the house every 5 years and weren't running out to buy the latest furniture or gadget. It's a shame they lost it all in the fire
Stuff today also isn't made to last, things are made to use for a time and toss it. Everything's plastic or mdf junk. Wish they'd make quality stuff like they used to.
"Todays throw away generation, doesn't understand" quite an ignorant and frankly bias generalization to make of an entire group of people. People very also, I have seen some older people throw away things and replace them once those things become outdated, and I have seen some younger people hold onto something until they are forced to replace it.
@@conversationtosaurusrex why are you trolling? You know what I meant and of course there are always some people out there that don't do what everyone else does. Hey there's a village Concello de Lobios in Spain. This village was submerged in 1992 and is now explorable due to severe drought. Might be worth exploring?
Maybe but doubtful. A full replacement policy would have reimbursed the homeowners for the cost to rebuild no questions asked. Note that this policy is not cheap but well worth it. Plus, the only way to completely rid a home of the smoke smell is to take the house back to studs. I don’t blame the homeowner for leaving if they were made whole.
I’m reading the comments and people saying the insurance have paid out and the owners have left it. Would they have been paid via the insurance company to just sort out the damage, or been paid the actual value of the home? I’m the U.K. if you have a fire the insurance would just pay for the damage unless it was the whole house. I just can’t get over the fact they’ve just walked away and left it to nature. Really really bizarre. Would you not mend it/knock it down and sell it? Maybe they have more money than sense. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Maybe it hasn’t been updated since the year was built I mean it could’ve been a mint condition even though it was still out of style. I mean obviously the lady love hats and that’s very old tradition
That place is creepy AF!!! If that’s the type of stuff they had in the year 2018 they were living in a time capsule! Something is not right with the date and what is in their house
That "Rear Projection TV" tells you how long since they lived there - that one looks like a CRT type rear projection tv which dates it to the 90's or earlier. The antique cloths and electronics and the antique perambulator are just Bizarre!! What is the history? Why did they walk away instead of fixing it?
I wanted to search around a bit and learn more about what happened here, but you didn't mention the city in upstate NY or any other info that might help.
I've Been Trying to Make Sense of This, & That's Sorta What I've Been Thinking. There's a Name for People, Who Actually Live & Wear Clothes of Another Era.
Either the home was not insured or they took the insurance check & split. If fire doesn't damage the smoke will & it travels through the HVAC system and deposited everywhere. So all of the belongings in the home are covered in smoke deposits and will forever stink. I'm so curious of the story behind this home. Sad as it was a cool old place and it still is.

At no point did I say every single young person participates in the throw away lifestyle. If you are able to take such a simple statement out of context and immediately get trigged and have to start trolling, it must he an absolute living hell in your head. So, instead of being a troll maybe pay attention to what people are saying and if you don't agree maybe be respectful and ask questions. Don't just make assumptions and try to insult people. Especially, when your comment makes you look like a complete idiot.
@@danthechevymanc6b475 No, you obviously made a generalization, and don't want to own up to it. If your words were taken out of context, then by all means, explain what you meant.
Assuming someone is trolling because they take your statement of face value, is nothing short but ignorant and simple-minded.
@@conversationtosaurusrex whatever helps you sleep at night. I don't feed trolls so if you don't see the error of your ways that's your problem.
What a grand entrance to what was once a magnificent mansion . They had great taste in champagne 🍾 and alcohol, I'll stick to water thanks. 💧 Love the old pram looks odd sitting there , and the red dress was abit creepy . Thanks for the tour
I Agree, Especially, About That Dress. It's Like 2 Different Minded People Lived There. Some Stuck on the Way Past & Some more in The Future.
Man, I'd be tempted to grab that pinball machine!
TV from the late 80's or 90's. My family had one.📺📼😊
Did you go thru the pockets of the clothes in the closests? Shoe boxes?
Lots of ppl put cash in those things. Or weed :)
scavenger gang
All those books left breaks my heart!
13:59 Jay, where did you get those jeans?
I think aerpostle
It's amazing that all that stuff is still there how cool
Once stuff gets smoke damages you really can't clean it, that is why they left so much stuff. Those game machines I think are collectors items, probably worth a lot of money. pretty amazing some dumb F vandal hasn't destroyed them. Hopefully a collector will get to them before vandal's.
Hello Chris
underwater church in Utuado Puerto Rico in lake Dos Bocas. When they made the reservoir they had to relocate the village
Hey there's a village Concello de Lobios in Spain. This village was submerged in 1992 and is now explorable due to severe drought. Might be worth exploring?
Insured for WAY more than house, grounds and all contents. That’s why they could walk out with just the clothes on their back.
Incredible. You find the most interesting places
Awsome video! Sad how quick this place changed in a matter of weeks:(
I’m reading the comments and people saying the insurance have paid out and the owners have left it.
Hello Rachel, how are you?
What a shame🥺I imagine insurance may have already settled and the owners wont return. Money can even make a disaster easier to bear.
Very cool place. Thanks for sharing.
I love your videos Mobile!!! You do the bwst videos!!! I love it when you team up with Lamont at Large! Awesome video thank you sir
Maybe it hasn’t been updated since the year was built I mean it could’ve been a mint condition even though it was still out of style. I mean obviously the lady love hats and that’s very old tradition
Had to be an older couple who bought the house and moved in all their vintage everything with them
apparently, but why would old people choose such a place to move into
That place is creepy AF!!! If that’s the type of stuff they had in the year 2018 they were living in a time capsule! Something is not right with the date and what is in their house
People don't refurnish their houses every 10 years! Don't be a dope.
@@Marcel_Audubon 😂😂😂😂
Nice exploring!🏚🏚
the cold room clip there was a pic on the floor there!
so sad thank you guys for the video ..
I. Love you. Mobile. Instinct. Liz
That "Rear Projection TV" tells you how long since they lived there - that one looks like a CRT type rear projection tv which dates it to the 90's or earlier. The antique cloths and electronics and the antique perambulator are just Bizarre!! What is the history? Why did they walk away instead of fixing it?
Really enjoyed this one Chris keep up the great work. 👍👊🇬🇧🇺🇸
I wanted to search around a bit and learn more about what happened here, but you didn't mention the city in upstate NY or any other info that might help.
Might have been part of being able to explore the place.
Probably a mature couple/family that never moved with the times and loved the good old days.
I've Been Trying to Make Sense of This, & That's Sorta What I've Been Thinking. There's a Name for People, Who Actually Live & Wear Clothes of Another Era.
The MacBook Pro box seems to be the newest thing in the house.
Not enough ‘cents’ than actual $$
Thanks Chris great vid!
Well that was an unusual field trip.
Quite a palace.
Wow this is awesome it's crazy how shit is just left behind frozen in time amazing
THAT ENGLISH BABY CARRIAGE AT 7 MINUTES COSTS $2500.
the brand new macbook pro touch bar... did you see if it was in there?
I love these houses, tx
Awesome video! Did you have to pay a fee to tour this house? How do you find houses like this?
They just trespass
Jay is awesome!
Awesome 👌 such waste is very depressing.someone torched it for the insurance payout.
I need to find this place and live there
