At the risk of giving this movie _faint praise,_ I _liked_ the teenage daughter Diane. She actually felt like a relatable and sympathetic character being a teenage girl who had to become the woman of the house and is mentally and emotionally torn between the two roles and the actress did well playing her. I'd _much rather_ a movie about her character.

A lot of people are like this. The sentiment that "fathers know how boys think" is old as dirt. But the implication is that disrespecting other people's boundaries is a quirk inherent to gender, and not a product of an environment which tolerates unhealthy power dynamics and misconduct. And this protectiveness treats girls as property who couldn't possibly initiate or refuse sex based on their own desires. Ironically, this sexism is also often combined with racism.
      But you know, myopia, hypocrisy.

FriendlySith That's because Christians like to imprint on kids at as young an age as possible what their idea of sin is, and how to be a model Christian, often fabricating very dark but very real scenarios as examples. Secular society on the other hand has a lot more respect for the innocence of children, and entirely different expectations of what is appropriate for that age. But as far as Christians are concerned, if there's a lesson to be learned about sin and being the best Christian you can be, no subject is off limits, within certain age gaps at least.
