Dune was totally my favorite! It's the only movie I saw in the theaters this year because of covid, but absolutely loved the score :) Fun fact: The loud djembe-like percussion you hear at the start of the movie was all made by the Zebra synth and not by a real percussion instrument!
The White Lotus was my favorite by far. One of the only shows where I wouldn’t skip the intro so I could hear the theme. Also, thanks the tips on Stratus! I bought it a while ago but didn’t know about the non-aleatoric patches.Very cool.
Choosing a favourite score is a really difficult thing to do, but I would have to go with Johnny Greenwood from The Power of the Dog (Netflix). He really encapsulated the mood and emotion for each scene that there was a score so well. It's the way he also moved between a traditional score and also non-traditional elements such as a nylon guitar and using the harmonics as an accent. The way he uses his strings is so inspiring and gave me a new perspective on how to use legato strings. There is a piece where he used a detuned piano and that caught my attention for sure. It was a dry sound with little to no reverb. It was one of the best for me in 2021.
Thank you again as I always enjoy your overviews and scores. And thank you Spitfire Audio for the 40% discount sale - it burned another hole in my pocket, but so worth it. Would you be able to share the logic project files of your piece? Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the nice words - I think we are not allowed to do so due to 3rd party plugins. Please let me know if I can clarify anything or show in more detail. Best, Ox
Dune is my personal favorite of 2021. Zimmer was super creative with the soundscape, kinda showed us a new level of atmosphere. More than the paddy synth stuff that we’re used to.
Dune. Hans Zimmers music really captures Villeneuve’s ability to create a sense of distance, solitude and space in his scenes. Zimmer even made companion music for the book. I could listen to it endlessly.
Yesterday I bought my first library from you guys (Sacconi) Today I want all your libraries !! Oliver your playlist is fantastic, thank you for sharing, is very hard to pick one but my favorite is Mathieu Lamboley's Etretat... But, but but the most interesting one is "Aloha" from "The white lotus" (What an uncomfortable piece of art) hahaha !!! Juan Cristobal Tapia de Veer if you read this you have a new fan in here !! All the best from Los Angeles.
My favorite score from 2021 was Evangelion 3.0+1.0. Composer Shiro Sagisu used guitars for this score to give that home and warm feel to it as the film was going to be the last of the Evangelion franchise. Still my favorite and will forever be my favorite.
Hey Oliver, thank you. Just starting composing and want, hell, so the Spitfire libraries😂, but you are a composer and what you score and demonstrate with Spitfire libraries is your composition skills. Are you self taught out did you learn from school, etc. I need to learn how to do before I buy so these libraries. I do have a BBCSO Discover.
Hi Oliver. Informative video. Since you're one of those people who also uses "KORG NANOKONTROL 2" for MIDI manipulation, I was wondering if you could help me and my ilk out with this issue. All my data gets recorded in Ch:1(channel 1). Using Kontakt 6 (MultiOut 16X16 Stereo); Logic Pro X. No matter what track I select, all midi (notes, velocity, modulation, expression, vibrato, mic positions) gets recorded in Ch:1. How do I make sure that when I "R-enable" a track (and also with MIDI Catch, which is retrospective recording feature in Logic), it records all the MIDI data (notes, velocity, mod, expr, vibr., mic pos., etc.) in that track's respective MIDI Channel. Please Help!! P.S. I see you've called upon 1 instance of Kontakt5 per track!
Hi there Shashank - I'm not sure I understand correctly, but make sure your Korg Nanokontrol isn't assigned as a Controller in Logic. It should merely control Midi CC. If that's not what you mean, then I have a feeling that you want to route your midi input channel to different midi output channels perhaps, to which I think are a few tutorials and tips online. And yes, I like using 1 instance per track, it helps me keeping a good overview of what sound/articulation I use. Thanks for watching and commenting, Ox
What annoys me is people out there using libraries having a lot prepared, but they do not even know basics of instrumentation and cannot even imagine how a clarinet combined with a bassoon sounds without libraries. It is like saying "I create shoes" but in reality just picking a pair of shoes out of a 100 pairs available.

«In Autumn» by Andrei Moissejev was my favorite 2021 score.
My favorite was probably The Last Duel, it added an uneasy feeling to the atmosphere of the movie.
Dune was by far my most favourite. I loved how the line between music and SFX was so blurred
No Time to Die!
Hey Spitfire let Oliver do more videos! I love it!
👍🏻👍🏻
Yes, Oliver, don't be lazy and make a video every day! 🙂 Great stuff, of course... as always.
thanks so much guys!! Will do my best, Ox
oh my, that sounds so playful and unique

Big fan of Radiohead so will have to check this out thanks for the tip.
Really great score 👍🏻
anyone noticed that Oliver did this Walk-Through at around 23:00 Hrs?👏 Bravo to your hard work Oli!
Thank you, much appreciated Ian
He IS a father, I believe! It makes sense that he would be working late hours :) - well done Oli!
So good to see you on another demonstration, and aside from that your studio looks like a really inspiring place in which to compose. Great stuff.
Thanks so much Dave!
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING !
Very cool piece Oliver
Thanks Sean!
I like the piece, and love the way you wove those libraries together. I think I need to pick up symphonic motions.... Well done, and thank you!
Thank you Don, very kind of you! Ox
My favourite would be Dune - absolutely insane textures and atmosphere!
Totally agree. I just love sounds in new Dune
The track kinda reminds me of Vera tbh because of all the echoy bits and bops
Very nice!

@@OliverPatriceWeder - thank you for replying and understand - just keep making those videos!!
Birdman starring Michael Keaton and music by drummer Antonio Sanchez.
Nicholas Britell absolutely crushing it
Don't Look Up was such a captivating score all those bell/malett sounds similar with Cruella, SO good!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!
Duneee...the score was sooo good!

I loved Christian Henson’s “Rites to Rituals to Raves” from Albion Solstice. It was actually the score that convinced me of buying Solstice!

It's my pleasure, thanks for watching and commenting Toby! Ox
My favorite score in 2021 is Dune. The textures and atmosphere created by HZ is just incredible!
Incredible sounds. I have to pass on these incredible deals this time around. Everyone should definitely take advantage though!
The Green Knight was my favorite score of 2021. Spencer is a close second just because of how good the song Crucifix is.
My favorite score from 2021 was Evangelion 3.0+1.0. Composer Shiro Sagisu used guitars for this score to give that home and warm feel to it as the film was going to be the last of the Evangelion franchise. Still my favorite and will forever be my favorite.
very nice track
thank you Peter
Reminded me of Passengers in the beginning
The White Lotus, and thanks very much for the free sounds.
I liked Carter Burwell's score for The Tragedy of Macbeth. He used a detuned solo violin. That was nice.

My favourite 2021 score is "Army of Thieves" by Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro.
Power of The Dog for sure.

« F*ck me! » Written on the LCO Textures track 😂 around 16:30
oops.....
"Drive my car" 2021 by Eiko Ishibashi
Dune would have to have my vote.... or squid game.... some of those textures are super haunting in the best way
My second ist the first Munich - The edge of war
cool
I am getting so tired of this fad with the off camera angles. If you talk to me please LOOK AT ME. I do not want to check out your inner ear canal.
