Brilliant use of sequencers, it's a great idea to put them in series so you get so much more variation with chord inversions. I will need to try that with my triggers on the EWI!

Quick Question:
The main thing that's always kept me on the fence about going electric is the latency (i.e. the time between me hitting the membrane, and the sound reaching my ears through the headphones), unless you pay big bucks for high-end e-kits. How does the Sensory Percussion 2.0 system fare in this category? Is the delay noticeable? If so, are there ways to bring the latency down?
Great job on the thorough breakdown of your kit though. We all understand the woes of the apartment drummer, and youe contribution and research is much appreciated!
Thank you! I'd say latency shouldn't really be an issue even with the cheaper electronic kits - some of them may require you to use an interface (especially if you're using Windows), but I've used a pretty barebones e-kit (Alesis Nitro Mesh) in the past just plugged directly into my Macbook, and the latency was not noticeable enough for me to alter my playing.
If you're looking for sensors/triggers purely for drum sounds, I'd recommend looking at triggers that are mounted inside the drum, rather than ones that clip on to the rim, as those tend to give you a slightly better overall response, but I've been using Sensory Percussion for about a year now, and once I trained the drums properly I've not experienced any significant issues.
I had no idea that you could also program chords and even melodies, that is crazy!

This is an awesome overview and you explained the purchases really well! I'd love to try this kind of configuration coming from playing and mixing e-drums let alone acoustic kits! Hope to hear even more use of the kit in the future!

Hi! Sensitive percussion bundle is quite expensive (~$1500). Would you recommend any budget alternatives? Doesn't ddrum triggers serve well enough?
I’m getting a 5th sensory pick up
I’m useing the sensory 4 on 4 piece kit I have Alisis dm10 my holed cymbals with single triggers and high hat triggers top and bottom. Trying to get midi or just line to combine. I have also easy drum 3 wanting to work on in put works great with my electric but not going through sensory percussion.
TIL you can pre-program triggers through sequenced MIDI, that's nuts!
I can even nest sequencers over and over 🤯
what size of drums are you using?
is it a good idea to have as wide drums as possible to hit each zone more easily?
it would be interesting with an analysis of what drums and what width really seem to work best for the Evans Sensory system...
please advise the size and type of drums you believe to be the best kit to buy now .. a lot of Christmas deals out now. I wanna get the Evans and a drum kit that makes me play it as well as possible so as not to end up with too small drums and find it just hard to hit each zone, and also drums with the right rims and the right rebound to get the best dynamic feel when playing...
please advise me.. :)
am new to electronic playing.. not to drums, and love great rebound or I lose motivation if I play on rubber pads, like the Nord Drum 3P...

only due to the small hard rubber pads,, and the interesting sounds of a drum synth, but to a drum for me.. this seems much more in line with my creativity! but what drums, and please do not answer, whatever drums...

Every system needs its' specific drums to give the best performance.. please take me seriously and advise what might be more interesting for percussionists that want to get into this system..

Hi! Not all the zones are on the head itself, so I think you can comfortably play on any drum that's 12" or upwards. As long as you're able to distinguish between the center and the edge, and play the shell and rimshots comfortably, you shouldn't have a problem. My drums are 12", 14" and 16", and I've had no trouble training different zones.
Heads would depend on how loud you can play - if you need to be on the quieter side then go with single ply mesh heads, although you'll sacrifice some of the feel. 3 ply heads would feel a lot less bouncy and closer to acoustic heads, although they'll be much louder. Hope this helps!
I see, have you tested the Evans dB One? To me, the rebound feel of the snare must be there still.. not sure if any brand that makes silent skins/mesh has thoughtfully developed a mesh that is silent but really bounces back better than any other brands? what have you seen and tested?

I wonder about Jobeky ,
I asked Evans about their module and they said:
"Our EVANS Portal has 1/4” line in and XLR inputs. If the cymbal you are looking at has audio output built-in, then you can connect it to our interface.
But I can’t say for sure if they output audio on their own or if you need to buy one of their modules in order to do that. You would have to ask Jobecky"
I have tried to communicate with Jobeky several times now, but get no replies and they have no clear info on their website either.
Can you please let me know if we can connect the Jobeky cymbals and cymbals directly into the Evans module? It seemed like you used a separate module?
I use Logic Pro and hope to connect the Evans module to this and all drums to the Evans module to make it easier and less modules and connections, if possible?
I am also thinking about getting a Roland KD-10 kickpad right into the Evans module and changing the sound in the software... is this possible as well?
and is that a good idea or not with the Evans Hybrid system?

How is the acoustic kit within the module itself. Is the playability and sound better or worse than sd3. Developers told me they are working on a preset to get sd3 working with ease.
Do you mean the sounds within the Sensory Percussion software? They're pretty good, although the sounds available right now definitely lean more towards the electronic side than the acoustic side. There's a fair number of samples and presets, but you won't get as much variety as you would with SD3.
@@RahulVanamali yes within the module. I noticed they just had one kit, the bop kit. I was just curious if the acoustic kit had multiple samples on various zones to make the playability more acoustic like. I use sd3 right now with an electric kit. Results are pretty good because of the high sample rate within the software.
@@3tc11 They do have multiple sounds for each drum, and the bop kit overall is pretty decent. If you’re wanting to use these primarily to emulate acoustic drums though, I would recommend sticking with SD3
