    Most drummers play at least a four piece kit with snare, bass drum, rack tom & floor tom. Wondering why this $1,500 kit would come with only three triggers.

    Wow this looks nice! 🤩 Can you use it as midi zones as well? To ‘trigger’ Ableton for instance?

    Thank you guys. This is awesome. Sorry if I missed this, but could this be used to trigger software such as Superior Drummer 3?

    • @ArtOfDrumming
      @ArtOfDrumming  Рік тому +2

      Sure. You can use it as a midi controller just as any other trigger module. There's also a midi out on the portal if you want to use that as well.

      Multi pad is more effective Imo. While this does allow a high number of possible triggers, to carry around drum shells with mesh heads is impractical to say the least. I want to love it. Really. it just doesn’t move the actual needle. As a “drummer” channel I was hoping you would go into the hybrid approach and maybe even talk about how the so called “sensors” effect the acoustic sound and feel. Mesh heads are for moms migraine.

      @@StRiCtLyAlBeRt hey Albert, Moritz of Evans Germany here :-) I had many of the same questions when I first heard about Sensory becoming part of the Evans product family and that I‘d have the pleasure of training store staff on it etc.
      I’ve never played with mesh heads myself as I was always lucky enough to have a space for a my acoustic kit. So I was also under the impression that this sohlend necessarily be something for my. When I actually tried it on my kit with regular heads I was pretty stunned to find that contrary to my belief this would make it less accurate or usable it was just as fun and versatile. I do use a Roland SPD One pad on the HiHat side but only to add little individual clap or cowbell sounds. An SPD SX sure adds more pads but with any of those solutions there’s the fundamental difference in how you play them just because of the placement. The option to have as many or more zones on the acoustic kit itself and keeping your movements, stickings etc. the same makes a huge difference for me personally and most of the people who tried this. A multipad has other benefits for sure so it’s a bit of an ‚apples and oranges‘ comparison.
      All in all Sensory offers different capabilities that both due to the drums themselves become the input device and secondly the software being able to do much more than that of a hardware device.
      Hope this helps
      Cheers
      Moritz

    When you start playing the hybrid set at about 19:15, there is a cool sounding cord pattern. From the looks of it it's Selenium-Tahawus but I can find that chord tone when I pull that sound set up. Was that a stock setting?

      @ArtOfDrumming  6 місяців тому

      Sorry for the late respond. Yes it was but to be honest I don't really remember which one and if I manipulated the sounds afterwards in some sort of way... It's been a while since we filmed this one :)

    I really really want this the moment I saw it, but it is so expensive that I think it’ll take me about a year of saving and then figure out if I can justify getting it in the first place 😅

    How do I avoid cross talk? Example I hit one drum head and it makes the sound from other drum heads or from the symbols.

    • @ArtOfDrumming
      @ArtOfDrumming  10 місяців тому +1

      You can adjust the sensitivity for every zone seperately so you can make sure they don't trigger each other.

    what size of drums are you using?
    is it a good idea to have as wide drums as possible to hit each zone more easily?
    it would be interesting with an analysis of what drums and what width really seem to work best for the Evans Sensory system...
    please advise the size and type of drums you believe to be the best kit to buy now .. a lot of Christmas deals out now. I wanna get the Evans and a drum kit that makes me play it as well as possible so as not to end up with too small drums and find it just hard to hit each zone, and also drums with the right rims and the right rebound to get the best dynamic feel when playing...
    please advise me.. :)
    am new to electronic playing.. not to drums, and love great rebound or I lose motivation if I play on rubber pads, like the Nord Drum 3P...
    I sold it..
    only due to the small hard rubber pads,, and the interesting sounds of a drum synth, but to a drum for me.. this seems much more in line with my creativity! but what drums, and please do not answer, whatever drums...
    is not true...
    Every system needs its' specific drums to give the best performance.. please take me seriously and advise what might be more interesting for percussionists that want to get into this system..
    thanks! :)

    What is the maximum number of velocities able to be imported / zone?
    I play a 2Box Drumit & they have a maximum of 127 samples /zone. I have purchased some of your AOD samples but only having 3 velocities layers per zone is not enough in 2023. Could AOD please have more layers /zone, 5 different velocity levels with 3 round robins (15 samples) should be minimum when selling samples, (but over 25 samples is better & 90 very good). Making samples is not that bad these days with transit recongition. Unless your 3 samples are copy & pasted x 7, EQ & edited to have 21 samples /zone the AOD samples are not usable. AOD please keep up the great work.

      Hey Sam, Moritz of Evans Germany here. I checked back with Sunhouse and there shouldn’t be any limitation by the software itself. Using the hit controller allows you to drag in as many samples as you like and map them to the individual velocity zones. We’ve never tried to max it out but more than 127 is certainly not a problem :-)
      The kits that come built in and that you drag from the library usually have 3-4 layers with 5-10 samples per layer as a round Robin so 30-40 is what you should usually get in terms of variation.
      Hope to is helps!
      Cheers
      Moritz

    why would they put the input jack on the top of the trigger where it could get hit and knock loose? The DDRUM redshot design is much better, metal casing, xlr connection underneath, and much more affordable.

      Hey Matt, Moritz of Evans Germany here 🙂 As the cable is a 90 degree 3,5mm TRS plug it's really hard bordering impossible to knock this off by hitting it. We've put the system through the wringer for a long time and there were no issues with this particular concern. The TRS connection was chosen to keep both the sensor and interface size compact (7 inputs on the interface in a pretty small housing). DDrum is certainly a very well made trigger - no objections there. Sensory Percussion Sensors are not Triggers in the sense that they don't have a physical connection to the drumhead and don't use piezo elements as conventional triggers do. The sensors can detect and differentiate up to 10 playing zones per drum offering a lot more options than triggers. Hope this helps - let me know if you have any more questions!

  • @westbrad6808
    @westbrad6808 11 місяців тому

    Is it possible to use your own Interface and only purchase triggers & software? Assuming trigger & software are sold on their own?

    • @Moredrums
      @Moredrums 8 місяців тому

      Hey Brad, it’s a bundle of all three. The interfaces inputs are calibrated specifically for the sensors signals and while v1 was only sensors with XLR that could be used with any microphone input on any interface the number of issues that could potentially arise from that were higher compared to the benefits. The feedback on v1 of sensors was that while it was nice being able robuste an existing interface, many drummers wanted to leave their kit miced up as usual and not sacrifice their mic ins for the sensors.
      Hence the Portal that can be fed into an existing interface e.g. with the ADAT out (I’ve got it setup that way).
      Hope this helps

    Would I be able to add the GGD Benny Greb sounds to this ??

    • @ArtOfDrumming
      @ArtOfDrumming  9 місяців тому

      I'm not exactly sure since I do not own any GGD packs and don't know how those two might work together. For sure you can simply use the pack as an Midi controller triggering the GGD sounds and you can load the individual samples from the GGD pack. If there's any way of implementing the GGD sounds other than that I do not know.

      Depends on where you’re located. Best check with a retailer in your area / country as different tax rates and import duties affect the price.

    Now I understand why some many drummers are playing 5 gallon buckets! Drum kit, cymbals, microphones, all necessary hardware and electronic add ons = poor house.
