    Thanks for saving me 200 bucks buddy. I was trying to figure out what the point of Mia was when I watched your video. I use my phone for navigation with either Calimoto or Google. I use the Uclear Motion communicator with my helmet. I thought Mia would work like Android auto does for automobiles and that I'd be able to see my phone's screen on my Guzzi dash. I guess that's not the case at all. Thanks again for sharing this review!

    Good points. The navigation of my moto morini xcape has the same issues. No avoidence options, road closures and is subscription based. Luckily it mirrors gmaps on the 7 inch display.

    Thanks for the Demo! I just bought the V85tt Travel version and found the Nav App was slow and primitive and thought i was doing something wrong. You're absolutely correct, charging 200 bucks for 1990's GPS technology is not cool. Otherwise, i love the bike and have your videos to thank in part for the choice. Looking forward to more vids from you. Cheers!

    If you already have a music/voice system working as you like it, no, the MIA is not worthy.
    Another thing I don't like it is the search system, it is impossible for me to find any special place as "John's sports bar", or places like that, I have to enter the address. Also, I cannot place a mark in the MG map and navigate to it. I ended up using Google Maps for roads and Osmand for off road and track following.

    Is there a Report function in the map app so folks can report issues or closures? Is the map online and updates? Or is it some kind of static offline map? Interesting video. I really like this bike. I have been riding a modified DR650 for 12 years and am starting to want for something different. Scooping up my dads old R1200RT since he stopped riding, but its not the kind of bike I want to ride to work or take short day trips on.

      Starting at about 3:28 on the video I showed how it worked for mine. I did have to unpair it from my phone first. It kept wanting to keep connecting to my phone instead of the going through the app. Once you do that, it should be visible to connect to. Hope that helps you.

    There's more to it than the navigation. For example it lets me increase and decrease volume on my headphones using the bike's switchgear.

    • @cubbysue
      @cubbysue  2 роки тому +1

      I understand it does more than navigation but it relies on a smart phone connection through there app. If I'm going to use my smartphones data, Google maps is by far better than the navigation on the app. As for volume control, I use a Cardo in my helmet. I literally just say "hey Cardo, volume up" and it turns up the volume.

  • @HippoDrones

    I like the MIA app, but def not worth the money. I feel that all it offers can be done directly through the phone and helmet headset. I use a dedicated satnav as the nav on the app is not great. I do like being able to see the bike stats on my phone, but with the dongle on the bike not having it's own GPS, the find my bike is pretty pointless and can't even be used as a security device to find the bike if it gets robbed.

    • @cubbysue
      @cubbysue  2 роки тому

      To use the app, you must have your phones location on at all times so it knows where you are....ALL THE TIME. It never stops tracking you. I'm not a fan of that.

    while MOST of the people use the google maps nowadays it is BEYOND me what the MG were thinking with trying to incorporate their own navigation software into the app. such tiny things just spoil the whole experience. now in 2024 they are releasing the new V85tt and there is no way the useless MIA app gets any substantial update. what a shame.

  • @tomdrpa7221
    @tomdrpa7221 3 роки тому

    App want your position because it has some activity tracking, which is recorded with some kind of telemetry. You may review it later in the app. Like consumption, altitude, traction intervention, RPMs etc. and you may see it on the map on each spot you travelled. Pity is that is not possible to extract it to some usable form.
    I hate Here maps because you cannot use point and go function, you have to know exact name of the street which is something for me while standing under sun in gear and googling correct name of street while engine on idle and I am sweating as a pig :D
    Also it is only a map, not dynamic map with traffic. It is possible to use it only on long way travels where you need to remind when turn left or right in less building density villages. I can’t imagine to use it in city.
    Sometimes App crashing or not connect to the bike if you switch off the bike...
    So yes definitely not worth to buy it. I had it with my Travel packet.

    • @cubbysue
      @cubbysue  3 роки тому

      I agree. At least with other navigation apps, I can just tell it to take me to a location with voice commands. Don't need to Google the address.

  • @tedmarakas2626
    @tedmarakas2626 2 роки тому

    Please explain this, I understand that it is not worth $200 BUT is it the MIA problem that the road is closed or the application on the phone is crap? The screen on the bike mirrors your phone , it’s not the bike that doesn’t have the latest navigation traffic or closed roads. Unless of course I didn’t understand everything here.
    Unless the phone is incapable of receiving updates or has cellular signal the MIA won’t do anymore than being a mirror to your phone. Therefore, I conclude that the application on your phone is at fault

    • @cubbysue
      @cubbysue  2 роки тому

      The Mia device connects with the bike and communicates through the app. The app is the problem, it has its own navigation system completely separate from anything on your phone...ie; Google maps. Without cellphone signal it doesn't work. The Mia device works as it should, the app is just awful and it is what is responsible for all the directions.

      Anyway, the Garmin is awesome because you don’t depend on cell phone signal and it also gives you the option to choose your route by selecting hills, back roads, on/off roads, dirt etc. that’s the joy of motorcycling, nobody wants to be on a boring interstate or the fastest route
