    I just bought my first Guzzi last week (gently used v85tt travel). Watched several of your excellent videos and had an epiphany regarding removing the valve covers. Step 1 is to follow your instructions for removing the tank. But don’t completely remove it. Disconnect the fuel line, undo the three retaining bolts, and raise the tank about 3 inches with a 2 x 3 “special tool” supporting the front and a block at the back. This makes it super easy to undo the torx screws that secure the spark plug lead to the rocker cover. Easy peasy 😊

    As all other people, they do not know the O ring will last many years, but you also made the mistake NOT to change the aluminum gasket on the bolt. Now you might have oil dripping’ NOT because of the O ring, but because the aluminum gasket HAS to be changed every time.

    • @cubbysue
      @cubbysue 3 місяці тому

      @@oluffriesthomsen7680 Well. I hate to say it, but you are wrong. It doesn't leak, drip, seep or otherwise lose oil from the drain plug. When it gets too smashed, I do replace it with a copper one. That is usually about every third or fourth oil change.

    NB don't err _too_ far on the side of being too tight. That would cause the valves to leak during compression and power strokes. The clearance is needed because the valves get hotter than the cylinder head, hence they expand more, and the clearance reduces when the engine is hot. This is also why the exhaust valve needs more clearance, it gets hotter.

  • @nickhockings443
    @nickhockings443 4 місяці тому

    Any time in the compression and power strokes both valves should be closed, and hence the rocker arms should have clearance between them and the valve. Hence the piston being perfectly top-dead-center is not critical. You just want to be "near enough" at the top of the compression stroke. So don't anyone damage their engine by breaking what ever probe you use to check piston position.

    An oldie but a goodie. Just installed the Givi bars on my '23, and this made it easier. The weirdest issue I had was that I couldn't remove the horn. The bolt would do a half turn and then feel like it was tightening again. Dropping the fender helped get around that issue.
