  • In 1940 WXYZ asked NBC to help in preparing a new library of recordings that would be out of reach of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Bruce Bonnell, NBC contract arranger, rearranged the Republic Pictures soundtrack cues. The rearrangements as well as numerous classical excerpts were recorded in Mexico by a pickup orchestra. Included in this group of recordings was the William Tell Overture Finale, as featured here.. This recording was used as the theme on radio & TV for The Lone Ranger for almost 15 years.
