Hi friends! I hope you enjoyed the video... Leave a comment letting me know what surface you work on in your crafting space! :) UPDATE: The Ranger Craft Sheet DOES work with alcohol inks and will not ruin the surface at all! :) Here is a link to the blog post and full supply list: bit.ly/2VznNLZ
Note: I have the Tim Holtz mat and I’m a lefty! So I adjust or sometimes, flip the glass mat around when I use the white grid space for mixing colors. It’s not a big deal ( we lefties are used to adjusting) but I wanted to mention it. Great video and I always enjoy listening to you!
Just started taking up crafting in my old age after I had to put my kitty of 16 years down. Got the Tim Holtz mat a month ago and love it but that Stay-tion mat with the magnets has me browsing Amazon.
Another great video Simon. I have them all and use for different things as you stated. I do love the Make Art Station. I use it all the time with the ruler because I can't ever seem to get anything aligned or even. Thanks again 💜
I have all three...and I agree with you Simon, they all have a place in my craft room. I have been really happy with the Wendy Vecci surface because I am really into stencils lately! Thanks for your reviews, and I’m glad you are feeling better. 😊
Hi Simon. I have all those surfaces. I had my eye on the Wendy stay-tion for awhile but after watching your video I had to get it. I so agree they each are unique and I love them all!!!! Is always good to have the right tool for the job or craft in this instance.
I'm not sure if you know that 1st mat from Ranger came from mats they made to bake cookies on. So you can buy this exact same matt @ any local store in the kitchen dept. For much less. They come rolled. Just a little info. You probably knew that. TY for testing these surfaces. It was very helpful. TYFS
Hi! Thank you for a very thorough review. I have been using the Ranger Craft Sheet for years. I'm thinking of getting the Glass Mat (and now the Vecchi product) and your review was very helpful.
I love your explanation of how to use these Mats, I have the glass media mat and also the ranger craft mat and also use them as you do. I can’t wait to get my hands on Wendy’s mat too! Thanks Simon, I love your videos 😃
Great explanation!! Very proud for you!! Your ink colors are beautiful! I’m not a stencil person, but I will be adding this one to my stash! Thanks Simon!
I have a large magnetic self-healing mat made by WeRMemoryKeepers. Like the glass mat, it too has an alignment grid & metal rulers. In terms of function, it's a hybrid of the glass mat & Wendy's metal mat. When I need it, I use the Ken Oliver Craft mat. It has the same basic properties of the Ranger mat with a few additions. It's white which is great for true colour rendering, it does not slip around & you can scrunch it up into a ball without it cracking & it will lay completely flat once again. There's a similar mat made by another brand. I believe it's from Tonic.
I have a glass mat, and I just ordered the Wendy Stay-tion. Great comparison video. I also have a self-healing mat i film on, so no glare. It would make sense it's surgical steel that would scratch the glass.
This video is very informative. I have the glass surface, which I love but I think I'll get the Craft Sheet and see what I can do with that. Thanks Simon.
I got the glass media mat for Christmas and LOVE it, and I just got the make art STAY tion today but love the reviews and can't wait to use it! Love the Alcohol inks you used and it turned out beautiful ❤💕
Good info! I use my glass media mat the most. I was wondering about using a craft knife as I've seen others do, so it's good to know what to use. Thanks! :)
I like the make art station and have it on my wish list of things to get... right now I just use a plastic cutting board, it does the job but need something better :)
Which inks do you recommend to use on embossed art ? Like embossed invitations? I want to add little bit of color to the emboss details but not sure which inks to use. Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks so much for this video, i didnt know you can use the achohal inks on Tim Holtz mat. I do like that. I will get that one, and Wendy's. Thanks. Oh who am i kidding, they all have their perks, i will end up getting them all, thanks again 😉
Great video Simon as usual! I love the Wendy Vecci STAY-tion for stenciling but I also have a glass mat which I use to color my images. On an unrelated note I'm not sure if you have done a video on inks. I'm confused on what amalgam ink is, can you explain that or direct me to a past video you have done??? TIA❤
awsome video, you have provided me with tons of info on mats thanks so much Simon. Please try to slow down you tend to talk 2 fast and i miss half what you say plus I get wound, up short of breath pleeez dont be offended I love your ink , theyre now available where I live bye for now.
I was very dissappointed in the wendy vechi art station because my white lines came off when I used water to clean off ink ... very badly ..I have contacted Ranger but have not heard back yet, I was surprized because they sell good products and ink is used with stencils....what do u think???
If it’s a water based ink the lines shouldn’t come off... maybe the ink had a chemical that took the lines off. Ranger will get back to your email soon! :)
I like this one because the heat is less directed, quiet, and doesn’t move inks around. But because the heat is less directed, it’s not great at embossing. :)

This is such a helpful video, Simon! Thank you for sharing. 😊
Great video showcasing the unique characteristics of each crafting surface! :)

Thank you Simon. I can't wait for your stencils and inks to become more widely available, I just love the colours!
I have all three...and I agree with you Simon, they all have a place in my craft room. I have been really happy with the Wendy Vecci surface because I am really into stencils lately! Thanks for your reviews, and I’m glad you are feeling better. 😊
Exactly! Each one has a different purpose. :) thanks Lee Ann!
That was an awesome demonstration- it really helped me work out which one I would use most seeing them all together.

Thank you for taking time to explain the pros and cons of all

Hi Kellie! Yay... these mats are so useful. You will have so much fun with the Stay-tion. :)
Great explanation!! Very proud for you!! Your ink colors are beautiful! I’m not a stencil person, but I will be adding this one to my stash! Thanks Simon!
Thanks to you I got the Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion. I had the Tim Holtz Glass Matt (got it for Christmas).
I have a large magnetic self-healing mat made by WeRMemoryKeepers. Like the glass mat, it too has an alignment grid & metal rulers. CouzCat Does the Ken Oliver craft mat have an odour to it? Thank you.
Thx for clarifying the scratching problem with the TH mat. That is the main reason I did not purchase it, now we know...
I have a glass mat, and I just ordered the Wendy Stay-tion. Great comparison video. I also have a self-healing mat i film on, so no glare. It would make sense it's surgical steel that would scratch the glass.
Yay! You are gonna love the Stay-tion. And yes... a cutting mat seems best for filming on. :)
This video is very informative. I have the glass surface, which I love but I think I'll get the Craft Sheet and see what I can do with that. Thanks Simon.
I have all three and love all three!
Thank you! I like using the stay - lion for stencils it is such a game changer for that! do everything else on my Tim Holtz media Mat.
I got the glass media mat for Christmas and LOVE it, and I just got the make art STAY tion today but love the reviews and can't wait to use it! Love the Alcohol inks you used and it turned out beautiful ❤💕
Yay! You are gonna love the Stay-tion Sarah. :)
I got my Wendy Vecchi Make art station. Really like that I can leave my work on it to finish latte, Thanks Simon.
Yay!!! :)
Simon, thanks for the comparison on the mats, you do great videos and I love your work and products!!!
Thanks Bunny! :)
Just bought the Wendy V mat.......can’t wait to use it!
I agree that all three are great to have and I love and use all three. I am still on the fence about the Waffle Flower mat. Thank you for your video.
I’ll have to check that mat out. :)
I use the new Tim Holtz craftmat. Prior to that I used a large Making Memories mat that I love.
Great video, Simon. I just bought the Stay-tion last week and love it.
Yay!
Good info! I use my glass media mat the most. I was wondering about using a craft knife as I've seen others do, so it's good to know what to use. Thanks! :)
Great comparison video. I own the craft sheet and love it. TFS
Thanks Karina!
Great comparison sharing! I have Ranger Ink craft sheet but not sure which side can be used actually because both look and have the same texture.
Either side works. :)
Hi Simon, great video. Which surface would you use for gluing, let's say, delicate die cuts where the glue may seep onto the surface?
I have all 3 and keep my Tim Holtz glass mat up all the time with the media mat under it so it is ready for anything I want to do.
Me too! I find uses for all of them in my crafting. :)
I like the make art station and have it on my wish list of things to get... right now I just use a plastic cutting board, it does the job but need something better :)
I’m brand new to this… what’s the importance of alcohol inks? Are they more rich in color or are they made fir certain papers?
Which inks do you recommend to use on embossed art ? Like embossed invitations? I want to add little bit of color to the emboss details but not sure which inks to use.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks so much for this video, i didnt know you can use the achohal inks on Tim Holtz mat. I do like that. I will get that one, and Wendy's. Thanks. Oh who am i kidding, they all have their perks, i will end up getting them all, thanks again 😉
Lol! Robin, you are gonna have them all in your collection soon.😂
Hey, Simon....great video! Not finding the ruler for Tim’s and can we buy a second for Wendy’s???
Nicely done Simon 👌😉
Great video Simon as usual! I love the Wendy Vecci STAY-tion for stenciling but I also have a glass mat which I use to color my images. On an unrelated note I'm not sure if you have done a video on inks. I'm confused on what amalgam ink is, can you explain that or direct me to a past video you have done??? TIA❤
Amalgam ink is a Gina K ink. Check out her stamp TV channel for more info. She is wonderful. :)
beautifuls colors of square
Tim Holtz - and i clean it super quick with single sided razor blades. Vecci one moves? Looks like it needs some stay put feet.
Wendy’s stay-tion is meant to be moved around on your work surface. :)
The exact same as the oven liner, sold at Home Depot, for a 5th of the price, and you get 2!
awsome video, you have provided me with tons of info on mats thanks so much Simon. Please try to slow down you tend to talk 2 fast and i miss half what you say plus I get wound, up short of breath pleeez dont be offended I love your ink , theyre now available where I live bye for now.
Very nice. Thx🤗

@@simon.hurley Hi Simon it was pigment ink!!... crafters companion...thanks for answering me!!
Quick question about the heat tool you used, is that good to use for heat embossing as well?
I like this one because the heat is less directed, quiet, and doesn’t move inks around. But because the heat is less directed, it’s not great at embossing. :)
Inklipse ok thanks. Can you tell me a good recommendation for a heat tool for embossing? Please ❤️
The Wagner heat tool is great. I got it because that's what Jennifer McGuire and several other UA-camrs use and I was not disappointed.
Amanda Bartholomew thanks!
Tim Holtz!! Oh sorry I mean Simon 🤣🤣🤣
❤️❤️❤️
Eeepppp.... I just pushed like ... but now it’s 666 😈
Wow your talking faster and faster! 😧😁
