What a blessing to have such a wonderful husband!
I agree!
Thanks for dropping by!
Rachel,
I have gone through many styles in my almost 39 years of marriage, mostly following trends I didn’t like. As a person who grew up with little to no belongings, I wanted a cozy, welcoming and bearable home. Not knowing where to start, I followed those trends that everyone was doing. About 7 years ago, after reading many books on decorating, following along on Pinterest boards and seeing some beautiful homes, I came to realize that my style is a mix. I love English cottage with small touches of farmhouse. I am slowly getting there in my home with thrifted treasures, DIYS and gifted items. It’s very common for my 4 sisters to trade items with me.
Thank you for sharing your home and ideas. Your channel has been an inspiration to me. ❤️
Hello, Miss Robin!
How fun to find your personal style and decorate your home accordingly! Thanks for sharing your journey!
Rachel, your channel is my favorite!!! I have truly enjoyed watching you express yourself from room to room. I love being able to watch your thought process and your youthful enthusiasm is precious. And I must say, Mat is an amazing young man. It's fun to watch the bloopers and see the playfulness between the two of you. Keep up the great work, and I will DEFINITELY keep watching!!! 😊
What a nice compliment on our channel, Miss Birdie!
I totally agree, Matt is amazing! He not only makes my design dreams come to life, but he makes it fun! The kitchen remodel is next, and we are actually installing countertops and a new sink & faucet today! Thanks for being here!
@@StoneCottageHome OMG!! I wondered how close you were to doing the kitchen. I'm sooooo excited, and I really love your personal style. It's truly classic and sophisticated. I'm a fan for life and thank you so much!! You and Matt are a joy!!!
Thank you!
We've actually run into some hitches with electrical (old house joys), and the sealant on the countertop... But that's how these things go & we've allowed time for the unexpected. Have a great day!
@@StoneCottageHome You as well and God bless!!
Beautiful!❤ May God Bless you and your family with these wonderful and dreamy English Country renovations! 🙏🔥🕊😇💕🤩🥳🥰
You picked my favorite wallpaper! I love that you put your treasured piece in the dining room and the mirror is perfect. I truly ADORE the smaller dining table and chairs as well. My husband did a handyman exchange with some church friends and brought me a similar era dining buffet, table and chairs, with fruit and birds carved into the chairs. It is small, and I have a large dining room - but I have made it work, and it is just so pretty. I love your videos so much. I truly wish I could just sit in your home with you and hear all of your sweet stories. You are a gift to the world - and I think I know what makes you shine! Blessings!
Haha! You guessed it!
I love the smaller dark brown furniture set better, too! Your table & chair set sounds lovely.
I would love to have you over for a chat over tea and shortbread as well. Thanks for being a part of the Stone Cottage Home community! 🌹
Blessings in Christ,
Rachel
The mirror and lower furniture expand the look of your space so much.
Yes, Ma'am! Originally, I had a piece of art there, but the mirror really opened the space. Plus, as you said, the lower profile furniture simplified and expanded the space even more. Thanks for visiting!
It looks so cozy and inviting. I can imagine both hosting and being a guest in your home is a pleasure.
Thank you!
Oh! The flow is SO pleasing to my eyes! Each space draws you in but allows enough difference to make each area seem ‘special’! I have never been able to appreciate the homes that are so cohesive that they lack distinction between spaces, except for obvious furniture pieces that say ‘this is the dining room’. The wall paper was what I would’ve picked myself and your colors are warm without being too strong. Truly just lovely spaces! Now the little things that add your special personality to the dining room.❤️
Thanks for the encouraging words! I'm glad you enjoyed the flow from dining to living and the wallpaper, too. Every morning I enter this kitchen, the cheery paper makes me smile. I plan to recover the chair seats and add curtains at some point. Thanks for stopping by!
I honestly liked it better with your big hutch. The dining room looks smaller. Loved the wallpaper.
How beautiful, Rachel! The new furniture has lightened your dining area. Great job
Thank you!
We appreciate you dropping by and your encouraging words. Have a lovely weekend!🌹
As is the case with every other room in your house...absolutely gorgeous!!! The khaki paint goes perfectly with the beautiful wallpaper and I never realized how much difference painting the outlet covers make!! You and Matt are such talented treasures!🥰
Thank you, Miss Ilene!
I'm glad you like how everything turned out! We're grateful to have you for a neighbor!
Awesome job Matt!! What a sweet thing to do. Painting the dishwasher made a world of difference.
I agree, Miss Sandra!
Thanks for stopping by!
Excellent, looks great. I would place a nice area rug and cover the tiles in the dining room and move that large dark sofa out and replace it with the lovely settee which you placed by the front door and remove the guitar.
Thank you.
We may add a rug at some point. The large sofa stays until we can afford to replace it. Thanks for stopping by.
Hahaha 🤣 I loved the bloopers. Isn’t it funny how styles change. About 9 years ago wallpaper was removed from about 2000 of the 3000 square feet of this home. The walls were all textured. Even paneling was removed. I do love the transformation of your dining area. I think I’d want an area rug under the table but it really looks perfect 💕~ Janet 😘
Hello, Miss Janet!
Yes, styles do seem to come and go... I have considered a rug, we'll see what turns up! Thank you!
I loved it before and now I love it more!!!
I was so happy to see your post today its always so special! Just like you and Matt.
I like the blue and white lamp too....thank you for staying true to your design style!!! Its lovely! Excited about the kitchen ❤ I wanted to text how I was so excited you were on today before I even watched it, but watched it first anyway❣
Good afternoon, Miss Joann!
It's good to see your name pop up! I'm leaning toward the blue and white lamp as well, it seems to fit the space better. Thanks for visiting today!
Nice. Center the table under the chandelier
I love seeing how you redo your rooms. Love your dining room and the mirror you used. Your lamp was an added appealing piece. It is a nice and peaceful place to enjoy eating in. Your house is truly becoming who you and Matt are, can't wait to see what you do next.
Thank you, Miss Marlene!
We're glad to have you along!
I was thrilled to see another cheery video from you~showing us your new dining room~! It feels so cozy and comfortable.💝
So glad you enjoyed your visit, Miss Carolyn! We appreciate you stopping by!
Miss Rachel, I was amazed at how light, airy, and open it is! It turned out beautiful. I look forward to watching the kitchen transformation. You always give me inspiration and encouragement to keep moving forward in my work and goals at home.
Oh, I'm so glad to know you've received inspiration & encouragement for working on your own home projects! I'm glad you like how the dining room turned out. We appreciate you visiting today!
Put the table under chandelier. Very Pretty.
Just what I was thinking too center table under chandelier and add a area rug under the table but beautiful work love the room
I like the blue and white lamp you added to the buffet.
I think it all turned out lovely however, I think I would either center the chandelier over the table (and move the table out slightly from the wall) or I would take that chandelier and put it in the living room and remove the fan. Of course I’m looking pictures so I can’t tell if the chandelier would be too low for the living room. However, moving the table out a few inches and centering the chandelier over the table is easy job.😊
I’m so happy for you two!
It turned out so good!
So inviting.
Love it!
Thank you so much!!
I admire your work ethic. I personally know how much work this is. It’s wonderful that your husband is on board and you can both enjoy the results of your labor.
Thank you, Miss Jo~Ann!
You're right, there's a lot of bits and pieces in a job like this that aren't shown in a 20-30 minute video. Part of my job to speed up the process is to have ALL the supplies (plus quick, easy food) on hand before we start!
Matt is a great blessing and such fun to work with. Thanks for stopping by today!
Looks so much brighter...bigger...better.
Thank you, Miss Linda!
Love the hutch and mirror in the dining room. I'm a runner girl, always think they set off the ornaments and soften the look of wood.
Great idea!
I have been looking at tablecloths. A runner would be a nice, simple touch. Thanks for stopping by!
The new smaller scale 6:58 furniture looks better but the table pushed up against the wall makes it look crowded. Maybe a rug under the table would soften the floor. The light should be centered over the table and lower. If you can’t move the light, place a longer chain on the light, put a hook on the ceiling (center of the table) and put hang it.
Beautiful, I would have centered the table longwise with the light fixture. I love your home.❤
Good morning everyone.
I have thoroughly enjoyed your video this morning.
I wanted to pass on a trick regarding recovering dining chairs.
I am neither rich nor a good seamstress. However, I am quite good at coming up with a plan "B" when needed!😊
I scouted round markets and car boot sales. for cushion covers and odd remnants of materials. I eventually found a set in good order. I paid about £5.00 for them.
Once home I washed and ironed the covers. I removed each seat and placed them inside the covers (rather like changing the pillow cases on a bed) I tucked the excess material neatly underneath the seat then stapled 2 hours later---"job "sorted" (As we say in
England).
The Laura Ashley wall paper that you chose is very popular here. So you are right on trend.🤗
I look forward to your next instalment.
Best wishes.
Kate
Hello, Miss Kate!
Thanks for dropping by and sharing your tips! There's nothing like shopping second-hand and making things for your home!
Love the wallpaper! Your original chairs look like ones I saw in actual English country homes, the new set is so much more proportionately better. Nice job!
Thanks for stopping by.
I've really enjoyed the wallpaper and new chairs. Have a great day!
The dining room looks lovely, Rachel. I like the wallpaper and the smaller scale furniture in the room. Makes a big difference!
Thank you!
You two do not disappoint … loving your choices and final look … I also appreciate your instruction, I mean I gain so much from your research and diy projects that it inspires me and/or confirms what I am doing … thank you ! Look forward to more.
So glad you're finding these visits helpful & inspiring. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you! Your joy and design are wonderful!!! Love the clips at the end!!!
Glad you enjoyed, Miss Colleen! Thanks for stopping by!
Your. Dinning room turned. Out. Beautiful. I love it❤
Rachel, the dining room is beautiful. The small scale furniture is a better fit, as you said...And the wallpaper brings out the English country feel to the room....
Thank you, Miss Tina!
I know you will be adding more beautiful English cottage pieces as you come across them. You and your husband are doing a great job. I love the wall paper is just perfect. I enjoy watching, can’t wait to see what’s next.
Thank you!
Yes, this phase gave us the backdrop. There will be curtains, artwork, etc. Thanks for stopping by!
Well, that certainly was a lot of work, but the result is fantastic!
I would have bought that first lamp and used it in another location. Your dining room turned out perfect.🌹
The ding room turned out beautiful! Love the wallpaper choice!
Thank you!

I agree!
Mrs.Rachel your dining room is gorgeous. All the hard work is paying off with the wonderful transformation yall have made in the living room and dining room. The blind choices are beautiful as well .Thank you so much for sharing.
That's very kind, thank you!
We are really enjoying the bamboo blinds, they've been a good investment. Thanks for stopping by!
Wallpaper is so beautiful.
Thank you!
It has turned so bright, airy and cozy. I was delaying a room makeover at home and my ideas regarding colors and wood tones were almost the sane. And the wallpaper is so beatiful. Catherine from the Dainty Diaries chose the same for her living room makeover. Great minds think alike!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed this dining room makeover! Hopefully, you gleaned some ideas that will make your project go more smoothly and be just what you envision. Thanks for stopping by and happy decorating!
Omygoodness!!!!!! I love your style!!!!!! It is so beautiful! Your husband is so funny! God bless
Thank you so much!
We have a great time working together!
What a lovely transformation! And I love the reflection of your living room in the mirror above your buffet. 💙😊
Thank you, friend!
I knew that reflection would catch your eye! Thanks for visiting today. Have a lovely evening.🌹
Renovating my kitchen. I feel your pain.
I’m laughing I picked the same wallpaper as soon as I saw it ,just beautiful
Yay! Glad you enjoyed your visit, and thanks for stopping by!
Your new dining room and front room are gorgeous. Thank you ❣️
You are so welcome, thanks for stopping by!
Oh Rachel, it's all so lovely! It always amazes me of the transformation that paint and wallpaper provide to spaces. The flow looks beautiful from your dining room to the living room. It's all so very tasteful and classic, and truly gives that English Cottage vibe. I can't wait to see your kitchen! Thank you as always for encouraging us towards all things lovely. Your posts are also so delightful in offering a pleasing, calming sense to my heart. Many blessings! 💗
Good morning, Miss Roxie!
I'm so glad you're enjoying our channel! In looking back over the old footage of the living & dining rooms from before, it is amazing the difference paint & wallpaper makes!
We are making great headway on the kitchen. We removed the old countertop, the plastic-y backsplash, and are currently prepping the new counterop. We're hoping to get the new sink/faucet installed and hooked up today!
Thanks for dropping by, and have a lovely day. 🌷
@@StoneCottageHome ❤
Very much of a lovely improvement indeed. Good job! But, the table needs to come off the wall and become more centered in the room. I also would take the heavier wood dark stools on the breakfast nook and either paint them a lighter shade or remove them due to them being a bit to heavy and replacing them with something lighter in a stool. Perhaps with a rattan seat.
Thank you, Miss Arlene!
We're on the same page, the barstools are too dark, I've looked at Rattan and cane... My plan is to either give these barstools a makover or keep hunting down the perfect trio. Little by little! Our focus was on the dining room for this video. Thanks for stopping by!
This was the first video of yours that I watched, and I was instantly hooked; I'm a new subscriber. Your voice is pleasing to listen to and you explain your design and decor choices very well. You're so fortunate to have Matt who has the tools, know-how and the ability to do the "heavy-lifting" to bring your design plan to fruition--the 2 of you make a great team! I just had all my popcorn ceilings replaced with knock-down and all but 2 rooms freshly painted--what a huge difference it makes. As much as I like the English cottage look of wallpaper, I won't have any more in my home, what a job it was spending 4 days scraping it off my small guest bathroom walls. Anyway, I really enjoy learning from your expertise. I love your channel and will keep checking back.
Welcome to the Stone Cottage Home family! We are glad you're here!
Yes, I'm very grateful to have Matt's skill and willingness to make these visions a reality. And, yes, fresh paint makes a tremendous difference! Thanks for dropping by!
Your home really has that English country feel. You and your husband need to visit the Cotswolds some day.
Thank you!
A visit to the Cotswolds would be delightful!
Love the wallpaper. The dining area looks so much lighter without the heavy furniture The only thing you need is a rug under the table ❤️
Thank you, Miss Sherry, I adore this wallpaper! Yes, I've been considering a rug! Aren't the finishing touches such fun?! Thanks for dropping by, and have a lovely day. 🌷
Lovely!! Matt is so adorable and a helper strait from The Lord! I’m so happy to watch your show… very inspiring! And .. beautiful dinning area..
You said it! He is a great blessing. Thanks for dropping by!
What a beautiful transformation of your dining room! I love the color scheme and the wallpaper is stunning. The furniture choices fit just perfectly in that space. So much fun following along as you tackle each room.❤️
Thank you so much, Miss Courtney!
We are really enjoying sharing the process and seeing how others are encouraged and inspired! Thank you for coming along.
Well that is just gorgeous. I love your choices.
Love your new dining room! Everything is beautiful. I was so excited when I saw the new video this morning. I would love to see more content from you. I know making videos is demanding but I so enjoy your work. Keep it up.
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement and support, Miss Laura! My dream is to publish weekly, so I'll keep working towards that. Thanks for stopping by! 🌹
In a home I had. I hired a carpet cleaner that could steam and scrub my tile. After, it looked like a new floor. I saw someone give a suggestion for floor.
The room is just so beautiful. ❤❤
Mind reader!
Yes, once all the remodeling is complete, we plan to rent a floor steamer to clean the tile, and then we'll reseal it.
Thank you! Glad you liked how the dining room came out!
Stunning! I have lived with the color of my wall in dining room and front room, i wanted to change but didnt know
where to start.
Now thanks to you I know what color to go with. Blessings
Glad it was helpful! Happy painting!
I was just rewatching Sage Lillyman redoing her bathroom (she's in Australia) from a year ago and I thought the wallpaper looked familiar, so I came back to this video and, sure enough, she used the exact same one as you used in your dining room! She used a sage green for the bottom of the walls and the wallpaper half way up. Looks great in your house and hers!
You're right, she did & it looks great!
I noticed that you changed the lamp since this video. Love the wallpaper.
Thank you!
Yes, the blue lamp seems a better size for the buffet. Thanks for stopping by!
As soon as i saw your video i clicked soo fast 😅. Wow the room looks Amazing and thise dinning room chairs are gorgeous! Im sure you will pick the right fabric to apostle them . When you we’re picking out the wall paper my eyes were on the one you chose jeje … i live how worm and inviting the space looks , Mat and you did a great job !! 😍
Thank you, Miss Isabel!
I was thrilled to find antique chairs in such good condition and for such a good price! Stay tuned as I plan to share reupholstering the chairs once I find the fabric. How fun you picked the same wallpaper! Thanks for the kind words of encouragement and for stopping by today!
Love how your dining room turned out - the colors are soothing and the table and chairs are definitely a much better fit.
Thank you, Miss Robin!
The furniture does feel much better suited to the space. Have a lovely weekend! 🌹
Very beautiful light and airy, I love wallpaper well done to you both ❤️

Hello, Miss Catherine!
How kind of you to give such encouraging support to our channel. It's a blessing to know you are inspired & helped by what you find! That's our goal! Thank you for dropping by, and have a lovely evening. 🌷
Your space turned out fabulous! The smaller scale furniture was a perfect decision. Absolutely beautiful!!!
Thank you, Miss Lorie!
Very beautiful, all of it.
Lovely wallpaper.
Good riddance to 'the Beast'! 😊
The table and chairs are just the right scale, and fit the English country style so well.
Hanging the mirror there, over the buffet, did SO much to the light and airy feel! Like an extra window.
And the cherry on top was the blue and white lamp.
(The first one disappeared.)
I really enjoy seeing your room updates and transformations.
Well done!
(Love the bloopers!)
Thank you!
What a beautiful cozy cottage room. Love all your choices and the light is perfect. I am enjoying several of your videos.😊
Thank you, Miss Julie!

The wall paper is stunning! Thank you for sharing and the inspiration.
You are so welcome!
I'm glad you are inspired, Miss Lydia!
Love the rooms. I admire the way you think things through and process what needs to be done. Love the colors and wallpaper . However, my favorite is the way you and your husband interact. I have thought you are a teacher and your husband is adept at many things. Love everything.
Thank you, Miss Diane!
Matt not only makes each project possible, but he makes it fun! Thank you for stopping by today!
To make it even more English looking I would paint the table, chairs and sideboard. The wallpaper looks great.
Thanks for the ideas, Miss Cynthia!
As a lover of brown furniture, I usually get the English country vibes from color and pattern. Thanks for stopping by!
Absolutely beautiful makeover! Love the wallpaper and what a difference the smaller table made in that space. The blinds are awesome with all the colors your chose. Your home is so warm and inviting. Great job!
Thank you, we are glad you enjoyed your visit! The smaller table and chairs are much nicer in the space. Thanks for stopping by!
The wallpaper is so pretty! It elevates your dining room to the English cottage look and feel. Your dining room makeover is lovely. The flow between your living room and dining room is seamless. Love your bloopers, keeping it real! Well done!
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit! I'm still loving the wallpaper six months later. Every morning, the cheery pattern brightens my day and brings a smile. Thanks for stopping by today!

How beautiful you've given me the push to do my dining room
Wonderful, that's exciting! Happy decorating, Miss Karen!
Turned out beautiful!
Hi Rachel, The dining room is looking great. The wallpaper is gorgeous. A solid valence/ window treatment hung very high would add a nice touch. Consider crown molding as well.
Glad you liked the dining room and thanks for the ideas!
I am so glad I found your channel! Love your style.

Hi Rachel. I like the chairs! SO much better! I look forward to see what fabric you find. And look forward to the kitchen. I've been waiting for that one as I have a thing for kitchens. 🙂

It did make a big difference!
Thanks for stopping by!
Oh, so beautiful ! I just love your style and the way your home is coming together!
Thank you so much!
Sucha a pretty room. Great wallpaper choice!
Thank you, Miss Polly!
It's over a year later & I'm still enjoying the wallpaper! Thanks for dropping by today!
That wall paper was my favorite ❤
Very nicely done. The sideboard and table are wonderful family treasures that fit the space perfectly. I could see two brass wall candle sconces on either side of the window. Also I would pull the table away from the wall and center it more to the sideboard.
Thank you, Miss Liane!
I've considered a pair of sconces, antique plates, and artwork. We'll see what turns up!
I love it and I’d improve 2 things: I’d lighten the grout in the dining room and I’d absolutely paint the brick on the fireplace wall, white wash, German smear at minimum. Light light light!
Thanks for the ideas!
We do plan to steam clean and reseal the tile (which will lighten the grout) once all remodeling is done. We both like the brick as is and plan to keep it that way. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
@@StoneCottageHome thank you!
Oh my goodness, the dining room turned out so lovely! Looking forward to the kitchen renovation. Love watching your videos, and how well you and Matt work together. Keep up the great work and blessjngs to you both.
Thank you, Miss Connie!
We're glad you visited today and are super excited to share the kitchen series soon!
Terrific makeover . Your hard work paid off big time! Just one suggestion: replace the knobs on the buffet, possibly brass ones.
Thank you!
That's on my list!
