    Neil Peart once said that playing drums for RUSH is like running a marathon while doing calculus. Fun and great reaction!

    2112 never happens without this beautiful song. Such an amazing journey from birth to death and beyond!

    Caress Of Steel got a bum rap when it came out but it really was just ahead of its time and not by too much as 2112 followed pretty much the same format and became a huge success.

    Musical allegory about the journey of a man's life from birth to old age. In each song our protagonist is older.

    The No One At the Bridge section is the highlight of this song for me, Geddy’s singing is awesome and Alex’s solo is haunting.👍

    Kudos to reviewing this one! Not the most easily digestible Rush song. Love the channel!

    I love that you said, "We'll see where life takes us" since that is always what I've considered this song to be, a life's journey. This was my intro to Rush in 1977 (when I was 15) from my best friend who died the following year. It has always meant a lot to me. Thanks for the reaction.

    A beautiful song. The album Caress of Steel gets a bad rap sometimes, but I love it, especially this second side (when albums actually had sides lol)

    I’ve always thought this song is about birth, life, death then doing it all over again.

      Someone analyzed, early on Alex was the driving force of the band. Later others catched up, rised to his level. Too difficult for me to say, but I like the idea!

    Thank you Jone for reacting to this. I had this song on vinyl back in the 70's, but likly hadn't listened to the whole song in 40 years.🤯🎸🎸🥁

    This song sounds awesome on the record. Too bad this one was uploaded with a crappy bitrate. Your journey down the Rush "rabbit hole" is fantastic to watch. You are experiencing the finest band to come from this great country of Canada. Cheers 🇨🇦.

    It's quite a ride. :)
    And the best thing is that at the moment I can listen to it fairly loud. :) :) :)
    They did not think much of this album and talk it down, but as a whole I enjoy it and like how raw it is in parts, but also most of the songs are worth a listen and then relistens. Over many years I still appreciate it.
    They also said they smoked a lot of weed when writing all of it.
    Panacea is one of my favorites overall. One of the few rare outright love songs in their entire discography.
    The drum solo in Didacts and Narpets (addicts and parents) is just a hint of what Neil could do and so much more comes later.
    For a third album and their 2nd with Neil I thought it held up well and then of course next comes 2112...

      I've always thought of 'didacts' as being 'teachers', rather than addicts. It seems to fit more comfortably in the story, too.

    • @obiwanbenobi4943

      @@AnthonyKellett Sure! :) But then it's not an anagram...

    • @AnthonyKellett
      @AnthonyKellett Місяць тому

      @@obiwanbenobi4943 - and it has to be an anagram because...?? For a young child, as the protagonist would be at that stage, 'addicts' makes no sense, to me. Why would it be complaining about addicts? The few lyrics, and the angst of the music, screams 'complaint' and being generally pissed off with being educated and directed. Just my thoughts.

    • @lauriivey7801
      @lauriivey7801 Місяць тому +1

      @@AnthonyKellett I think 'addicts' because there are many people addicted to many things ... and it should be an anagram because it's Neil, and he was partial to anagrams ... and, because Neil said so: Regarding ‘Didacts and Narpets’ (which consists mostly of a drum solo), in the October 1991 news release from the Rush Backstage Club, Neil Peart said: ‘Okay, I may have answered this before, but if not, the shouted words in that song represent an argument between our hero and the Didacts and Narpets-teachers and parents.

    • @AnthonyKellett
      @AnthonyKellett Місяць тому

      @@lauriivey7801 - So you think 'addicts' because Neil said it's 'teachers'? 🤔
      Anyway, it's nice to know, after 48 years of believing I understood the track, that I was actually correct all along 👍🏽
