I’m surprised to see that people don’t love the cohost, it’s fun! Ri sounds like she enjoys teaching and chatting with someone else, it just makes it more lively and chatty even though she’s the creative genius in the show for sure. This was an insanely clever way to use these ingredients and I’m glad she had fun during it. They had a lovely energy. ❤

A lot of Campbell soups are concentrated which means you need to add a cup of water to the soup or one can of water to the soup. Campbell’s cream of mushroom is typically used for cooking and not really eating.
I think it's funny that they made such a beautiful and complicated cake but can't follow the can's directions on how to make the soup properly. If you dilute it with a can of water, it's much better. Lol
I was so confused and highly insulted that they did not dilute the soup with a cam of water. Like it’s common sense, and LITERALLY written on the can.
I grew up eating the soup more than using it in recipes, but we always diluted it with milk, not water. Same with Campbell's tomato soup. You can certainly use water, but it's always much better with milk. When I got old enough to cook, I would sauté sliced mushrooms and fortify the soup, which has very few mushrooms that are typically diced in fine cubes. Now that I'm even older, I enhance/elevate the canned soup with a healthy splash (1-3 teaspoons) of dry sherry.
@@glennkurashima7056 I'm pretty sure they knew the directions on how to use it as a soup, but they were assessing it as an ingredient in a different recipe.

In my Black Southern household growing up, cream of mushroom was the linchpin or the foundation or mvp for many a dish you took to church or parent teacher night or to feed a large family like a casserole. It could blend in or stand out depending on how you prepared it.
Sounds yummy! Was any of those recipes that come to mind vegetarian? Or easy to substitute the meat? I love soups and creams in general and mushrooms in particular and I would be down to try one of those recipes that you mentioned, sounds hearty and delicious 😋

This must be so much more fun to have a guest person helping and someone to talk to while making the dish. It doesn't take away from the original idea of this series either which is nice because I really enjoy watching Rie turn things that are not fancy into something fancy and delicious.

It was fun at the start, but Rie doesn't need anyone else, please just leave it at her. She's wonderful with how she livens up the whole place, her amazing attitude, the quips, the other hosts just drag her down.

My dad used to cook a box of Kraft dinner according to the package instructions (slightly under cooked tho), mix in a cream of mushroom soup, a can of tuna, put it in a casserole Dish and crush gold fish on top. Then he’d bake it. Sounds nasty, lowkey is but it hits the spot

It was honestly the best part of green bean casserole and also my mom baked pork chops with cream of mushroom and it was always yummy

I'm pretty sure Cream of Mushroom is the one variety of soup that Campbell's makes that was never intended to be eaten on its own. I think this is the one variety of their soups that was always intended for someone to...make it fancy.
