They were such a good band - I first heard Code of the Road in 1978 and I played it constantly. One of my favourite tracks is Day Job with Rick Jones on lead vocals. "Me and my pal and this gal who played the tenor saxophone" 😁
I remember watching Ray Flacke playing a solo with them at the Nashville pub in Hammersmith in the mid 70s and just staring in awe, as his playing sounded like nothing I'd ever heard before!
I used to watch Steve and Jack regularly as Chuck Farley in the Red Lion in Brentford back in the 70s and 80s...My Dad (who's still around: very proud of him too!) played in a New Orleans band around the corner at the Princass Royal, and my cousin and I used to get a lift up with him and then go and watch your Dad's band. First time we saw them I was knocked out that not only was there a band playing all the stuff I loved (Ry Cooder, Little Feat, Randy Newman) but also their own material and doing it so well. Steve has always been a bit of a hero, and I'm still playing riffs I copied from him all those years ago. He always came across as a really nice guy, and is such a talented musician who never, despite an impressive portfolio, got the recognition he deserved. Please pass on my regards and thanks for all the years of pleasure.
i play jazz funk progressive jazz and a fan in the 80s of the Brand X bass player Percy jones, he had a great bass sound and it was a WAL BASS so i looked to buy one and found a great one with some history to it, Anyway fast forward 35 years i realise i actually own the very same bass which jack brand is playing here crazy isn't it i totally forgot about this bass, I later went on to guitar and vocals and programming eventually moved away from playing bass because i sang in my group Loose Ends but today whilst tidying up i picked up a bass guitar case in the garage it felt heavy the bass was a WAL BASS serial no.JG1116 with the leather scratch plate i decided to trace the history of the instrument and found out it was sold to Jack Brand of 'Meal Ticket'
people say country rock but I say pub rock I saw them at jbs Dudley and remember a rock goes to college concert be nice if they releasd that on the cd dvd format
