Roth was a great front man until the late 80s. Hagar has a superior voice, great live, and is constantly working. Roth is a great showman and writes great lyrics. He's terrible in concert, though. Both guys have made a huge mark on music. But if you don't think Sammy has done so, you don't know music. Montrose, HSAS, solo career, Van Halen, the Circle, Chickenfoot!!! Roth was awesome, no doubt, but Sammy has a catalog that not many can match.

Second, who cares how great Sam can sing? He never sang 99% of the catalog. His solo career was also mediocre and only got the sales it has because he joined Van Halen. Dave’s solo career accomplished the same numbers in a few years. Two different styles , two different bands.

Sammy was a good fit for VH I think nobody could have done it better...and that its true but when it comes to VH with Dave...well classic VH was untouchable...on a league of their own..and this is also true..!!
