Really cool looking new BMW. The exhaust sounds almost identical to my GS, some differences but very close. Most notably is the gurgles I am getting which may have something to do with my stock headers/akra combo or to your point,position of exhaust. 🤙
Not sure. But previously I was riding around with the Akra, stock headers with CAT and my exhaust didn’t sputter or gurgle during engine braking. This Saturday my local Ducati dealer is unveiling the all new 2025 Panigale V4S. I’m going to head over and make a video weather permitting. My buddy just sold his 2018 Panigale V4. He was sad to see it go but he wasn’t using it nearly as much as his BMW S1000XR. The Ducati had really limited fuel range and it cooked his inner thighs which sucked here in the Texas Summer. I’m keen on this bike but orange er… even the green one looks better but so far I think the option 719 looks best. I expect another version will come out later.
TFT is an option and I’m guessing it will sell well as it’s got the whole R 90 S vibe thing going on. Much better looking than the R 1300 GSA Lego bike.

Paying homage to the R90s, but just a rehash on the old 1200 engine that's more than earned the investment money and greatly overpriced. Fool and money easily parted the saying here goes, and the R90s is clearly aimed at "Poseur" weekend rider's to extract money from them😞😞 Belated happy Thanksgiving America. ps. This video has reinforced why I would never give Akrapovic a cent of my money. Sorry, it sounds awful and extremely annoying. The Akra noise doesn't really sit with the Darth Vader Stealth vibe😜
I had the mic next to the can in my pannier, so a bit loud, but up front I can’t hear that same sound. I can certainly hear it when I get on the throttle but sounds fine to me, not annoying. A couple riding friends said sounds good, so perhaps my recording method is for shit. Anyway it’s a boxer which doesn’t sound great to begin with. The more you open up the pipe restrictions the more it sounds like a pissed off dirt bike. The note of a K1600 would certainly fit the Darth Vader vibe more appropriately.
BMW and Ducati are always on the pricey side then the only argument is the degree. This bike will be bought by people who had or wanted to have an R90S in the mid 1970s but couldn't afford one then but now probably can. The absence of huge TFT no matter how wonderful will not be missed. In fact that and the liquid cooled motor would probably diminish the appeal. The style, sound and the few features most riders like cruise control and heated grips are there. Sunny Sunday rides on country roads is where this bike will likely be found when not parked comfortably along other retro styled motorcycles like the Kawasaki Z900RS SE and Thruxton R. Anyway that is what I'll do with mine.😁😁
are you using an insta360 for most of the video? just curious. I purchased an insta 360 and now wondering if I should get a GoPro for the forward (POV) view and the insta for everything else- including the look-back angle..
I use an insta360 for when I’m riding and talking to the camera. I use a GoPro 9 helmet mounted for test rides so viewers can see the cockpit. However I wouldn’t buy a GoPro better spend on a DJI Osmo action 5 if you want a helmet mounted camera. The GoPro has given me all kinds of problems over the years. Many of my friends have also had issues. And for interviews I use my iPhone 13 and DJI wireless mic 2. Happy filming. Any other questions let me know. Happy to help if I can.
Yes, after reading some more reviews/ watching some videos - the DJI Osmo action feels like a better choice- as it also appears to 'natively' support some kind of wireless/bluettoth microphones- that DJI also sells (like lapel mikes). Since DJI also appears to make some of the drones- perhaps there might be easier future interoperability if i were to go that direction. If using the insta360- does the video it is recording- also somehow automatically record the audio? it must be paired somehow to the audio source? perhaps to a sena/cardo? if not- is there a mike inside the helmet - ?

Very much so. If this were a 1250 we could start to negotiate but with the 1200 it's not worth it. Option 719 fluffery to drive the price even higher. There's just as much retro bike available from other manufacturers for far less money, no matter how cool this looks. Agree w/T2T that this needed to be a limited run to justify the cost. Ducati has been releasing several of these and seems to do well with that tactic.
Like the other bikes of the R9/R12 family. BMW have tweaked the looks thrown some of the latest tech at it but deliver muted performance. The 2011 Roadster and Classic delivered roughly the same or slightly more horspower and slight fly more pound/foot of torque at lower rpm. Road testing comparing the R12 to 14 year old R1200R roadster/classic, R9/R12 seem to have been castrated. The balls out performance and flexibility and pull from the torque seems to have been stolen, probably due to emmisions regs. The R12s should have had the 1250 engine at least at the price point and the superior performance for the sporty look of the bike!

It is over priced. A well equipped 2024 R1250 RS is $1200 dollars cheaper.
