For the bottom bolts on the fan shroud, I used my 12-point box wrench. Tedious and slow, but got it done. Also, for the driver side bolt, I pulled the lower radiator hose off of the radiator and moved it aside. This was for a water pump replacement, so the radiator hose had to come off anyway.
I want to do this on the 4.7 with the hydraulic fan I want to delete it and have the fan controlled by the pcm (factory style) do you have the wiring diagram for the 1999 4.7 non tow wiring diagram for the fan? Because the 1999 came with a electric fan and a mechanical fan I believe it's the same pcm as the 2001-2004
my fan had too many connections so i just made one from the car to the fan, changed the relay under the headlight and new wires for the connector and it worked for a week and stopped and was overheating so i finally got a new fan and tested everything before i put it in and it worked but didn’t kick on when i put the car together? and now i’m stuck again
@@paulc8581 ouch. I've pretty much rebuilt this this from the block up, new front springs, new shocks all the way around, new brakes and rotors. Trying to solve a wierd issue where it won't idle now. Idles for a bit, then dies. Super frustrating. Starts no problem, runs fine with a bit (or a lot) of throttle. No codes 😂🤣😭
Thanks this is very helpful
Glad it helped
There's always another bolt.
Very useful video thanks!
You bet
Thanks!
No problem!

Did the previous owner also remove the damn mechanical fan as well? Mine makes it a b*tch to replace

fuse maybe?
Bought a fan, connector has 2 wires, my jeep has 3, could this be a 4.7 or a newer fan? Tips to connect?
I have a 2004 jeep grand cherokee Laredo 4WD 4.0L
You made this shit look easy lol 😆 every other one I watch everyone takes forever and takes off all this unnecessary shit
wonder why they do it the hard way?
Does this apply to the 4.7 engine
Dont know
@@smallengineguys it's doesn't well taking I off does but the fans are different. Mine an hydraulic fan ..
Definitely not working on my 2000 Grand Cherokee 4.7, the hydraulic fan blades hang the shroud up.
@@TremaineLea never had that problem with it . Shortly after I changed it the timing chain broke

Good video but you didn show how to remove the hardest bolt which is the bottom driver side. It was a pain in the ass 🙄
I have to cut curse word sections out or they demonetize my video!
How do you get this bolt off
I'd like to know the same please
