    Why are almost all the comments on this video negative? “blah blah paint isn’t chemical free blah blah”. Anyone working with metal, aiming for an artificial aged-looked project and not willing to use PAINT should consider giving up on that project entirely. Anyways, this video was super helpful and helped me get the exact look I was hoping for, thank you so much!

      I agree. No idea why all the hate. I appreciate the kind words. Glad the video helped you!

      I have a solution for the haters: dig a hole in your backyard, throw the metal in it, cover, let sit for 3 months.

    This is exactly what I needed for my Jedi: The Fallen Order Lightsaber replica! And it works perfect too! Thanks!

    Hmm I wonder would it work it you just sprayed the rag a bit and did that touching, wiping with it? would safe a bit of paint perhaps

      It doesn’t seem to spread as well that way. Great for touch ups though.

    The black paint looks like the mill scale that you sanded off. Where can I get that non-chemical acetone? Thanks - Lumpy

      Guess you’re not very familiar with mill scale.

      Really? The best reply you can imagine is "Guess you're not very familiar with mill scale"? Really? Very helpful and informative.

      You weren’t asking to be helped and informed. You were being a smart ass.

    you do realize that it isn't chemical free because the two spray cans you sprayed are chemicals lol

    Ummm.... chemical free? Acetone and spray paint aren't chemicals?

    • @AModernMaker
      @AModernMaker  6 років тому +2

      You can skip the acetone if you want, and as for paint, seriously? I’m comparing this process to a store bought acid type etcher or chemical reaction resulting in an aged look. If you’re going to be nit-picky, “rust” can also be considered a chemical.

      @@AModernMaker uh rust is a chemical reaction to oxygen mixing with water molecules on the surface of a metal, that's like calling heat a chemical. It's a reaction not a chemical. And even if you don't consider paint a chemical, the aerosol used to propel the paint definetly is. 🤦‍♂️

    Uh paint and acetone...those are called chemicals. 😒

      Rust is actually a chemical too if you want to be a stickler. Any idea to age metal with no chemicals at all???
