My family and I are so grateful that I get to do this.
I appreciate your dedication to your crafts and your fans. This just filled me with joy.
When’s the next BBQ?
Randall Johnson You Tube brings folks together. It's a beautiful thing.
Randall, my man! I have very much appreciated your encouraging comments all during this UA-cam journey, and I want to thank you for being just so dern cool!
Look here, Randall Johnson, you just make sure you have some BBQ chicken when we come by for the cookout. 😉
Mr. Johnson, I would formally like to invite you to a BBQ. I hear a BBQ with you in attendance is just amazing.
My father in law use to make copper countertops venthoods and sinks back in the day. He made his own book of samples using everything from vinegar to lemon juice and various exposure times. He made a one counter top where he soaked leaves in water and threw them onto the copper sheet, laying them out flat and left it outside for a couple weeks, keeping the leaves wet. When he removed them they left perfect "patina" copies of themselves on the copper. Very delicate but noticable.
That sounds awesome
I love the look of copper vent hoods that have chasing and repousse on them.
That sounds like a wonderful approach right there. Does require some patience, but it pays off with long-lasting effects you get to enjoy for years.
I need to try that!
Tannic acid in the leaves. Neat idea!
Man, this is without a doubt the best UA-cam video I have ever seen. You are a shining lighthouse of a human being, and the world is most definitely better that you're in it. Thanks for bringing so much joy to my day, loved this.
Ahhh, my favorite moments were the lady singing when you accidentally set fire and the joke about the q-tip!!
"I've never had a hearing problem. Whatchu say?" Made my day! Ily!!
Ha! Glad you enjoyed those bits, Elaina! Expect singing lady in future videos as well. ;)
Your videos are not only immensely entertaining and educational, but you are a breath of fresh air on the otherwise (mostly) negative internet. Thanks for all you do, and keep steady-craftin', Crafsman!
If you see the internet as mostly negative it is a reflection of where you spend your time. Change your browsing habbits and your experience will change.
Randall Johnson having a barbeque and nobody told me? Ah snap
A lot of times he's so focused on the event itself - preparation, food, music... that he winds up forgetting to publicize it. ;)
I'll get the invites in the mail here soon
lol
@@thedangersofoxygen135 mine never showed up😀😂
@@TheCrafsMan must've been that cheap light saber...wrong color....ain't even bright...cheap plastic...😀
Man, that ammonia mixture makes a funky cold patina! Keep on steady craftin', Crafsman!
My man... this Tone-Loc reference straight cracked me UP.
Now that beat is thumping in my head! 💖❤😃👏
😂😂😂😂😂😂
TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin tone loc and madina.......and marina was a man 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
I needed The gentle tones of the crafsman tonight.
Right? TgitCm
Mighty nice comment! :D
I can't wait till Randall Johnson gets here
I'm here
That’s when things get rollin!
That ammonia though
Your content is always so calming, funny and informative. Keep doing what you do
Thanks so much, Mina!
These are beautiful! Yours is the most thorough tutorial I've seen and I feel confident I can reproduce the effects you've shown. You are a gift and a blessing to the world. Amen.
Man this dude cracks me up somethin fierce. Great video with some good content but the personality is what makes it shine.
Craft Man! I am a self taught metalsmith and I just used one of your techniques to patina a piece of copper that I hand forged into a pendant! Thank you!!!
I cannot remember the last time I'd ever been so mesmerized by any video, let alone a craft video to the point where I haven't skipped a moment. I am very thankful you made this and will now have to watch more of your videos.
I hope you are well!
Things that are abundantly clear. 1.) You're a madman. 2.) This is my new favorite channel. 3.) You've got a new subscriber. This is great stuff, thank you.
One of the best videos ive seen on patina
We love you, Crafsman! Let’s go get some tacos!
Yes ma'am! We have a taco night at least once a week around here! :D
This was the first video I watched of yours because I searched for copper patina, it won’t be the last! Your videos are worth watching because of your voice and personality alone!
In the sea of (really bad) DIY tutorials, this was the best. That smooth voice and way of talkin', man. I'm calm and inspired now.
My favorite thing about copper as a material is the potential for patinas. It has so many beautiful oxides and such.
This is the Longest video i have ever sat through (honestly, I have adult A.d.d and cant stay interested in anything for long periods of time) and i was entertained the whole time! Very informative! Thanks!
Ikr. I just stumbled on this and he had me at "do not adjust the color of your tv set"
I love sitting down and listening to a good ole fun guy make some majestic crafts in a nice relaxing space. Craftsman, you’re truly an amazing crafter.
THERE YOU ARE! People been looking for you! ;) And mannn, thanks so much for watching, and for your kind words!
TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin Haha You found me!!! :3 always happy to come out of hiding to watch your videos mann!!! :D
“Don’t give this to anyone with a peanut allergy” ROTFL ! Love it!
Dang it Crafsman. My kids now think we should name our new Pug puppy Randell Johnson! The kids thinks he's cooler than Batman and would even win in a battle. Way to go Randell Johnson!
That's a great puppy name! Though I don't think I'd try to battle Batman, I'd definitely join forces with him
LOL! This right here is a delightful comment! :D :D :D :D :D
A friend of mine sent me a link to your 24 frame stop motion video a couple days ago and I cannot get enough! You are a gem! Thank you so much for making these videos! I love your style and your anecdotes. Keep up the awesome work!
Modern version of Bob Ross. Calming and educational
You are the best Craftman. I can listen to you all day!
I've never learned so much while laughing at the same time, I immediately subscribed man, you're awesome!
The Crafsman is who I look up to the most in life.
Wow. That's a mighty nice comment, Gar. That encourages me tremendously.
I absolutely love this guy. He has such a pleasant personality and skill.
This is by far the best instructional video I’ve seen ❤️❤️👏👏👏
A new video, sweet! I may not do any of the things you teach us every video, but it’s so fun to watch and listen to you do it. Plus, it’s a new thing to learn. Thanks so much crafts man!
Glad you enjoyed it! :D
Best 22 min in a long time! I smiled, learned, laughed, and subscribed! I'd listen to you read bottle labels all day.
You’re my absolute favorite as of this moment. Only problem is you have that bob ross kinda voice that had me feeling all loopy and zen like. I have to rewatch after a shot of espresso.
I love you! Keep up the great videos!
I’ve watched a zillion crafting videos & you win my award for best videos!!!! Not even a close 2nd! So informative + silly + entertaining!! 😂❤️❤️
Craftsman you are off the hook! Another great video my friend. Now I’m going to go find me some copper.
Hello there! :D I just got me some copper grounding rod. Thinking about hammering out a bracelet, maybe. :)
If your Lincoln Memorial penny has a date before 1982, it is made of 95%copper.
Called my folks yesterday. I can't choose a favorite patina or parent, each are unique and special. Thanks for improving my weekend!
:) I always appreciate your comments, Mr. MEow!
This guy is always calm.
Keep up the great work Craftsman!!
Mr. Crafsman, sir, you are a certified National Treasure. I'm so glad I found your channel!
18:10 - for a second CrafsMan became Bob Ross!! lolll............. I ♥ CrafsMan!
Mannn, it's crazy how a paint brush just changes a person's demeanor. I really don't try to be one way or the other, but sculpting and painting probably are when I dial it down the most. :)
Really enjoyed this. Very easy to understand and loved how you can use simple household stuff like ammonia, vinegar and salt to bring about color changes. you also have an easy going relaxed way about you when filming this. Thumbs up 10 times over!
Best way to spend my Saturday night watching these videos!
this is the best comprehensive video I have been able to find, thank you CrafsMan!
What a delightful surprise. I really needed this today. I have never heard of patinas, until now.😃
So glad you liked it! :D
@@TheCrafsMan love u 2!
Thanks for another informative and entertaining video! I want you to know that since I started watching your channel I've been so inspired to pick back up on some crafting hobbies I haven't messed with in years and it's been so much fun.
SO glad to hear that, Ryan! Truly! Hang with it, my friend!
The MRE spoon made me smile.. keep shining a light on the world craftman, love ya!
Craftsman, You are too much candy for a dime. Just found your video and it is just what I was looking for. Looking forward to your other videos. You present the information in an easy to understand way. Love your sense of humor too. Thanks for posting this. I,m sure I will use it often. Take care and stay safe.
Thank you for being so wholesome and incredible, Crafsman! I've watched every one of your videos and every time one pops up on my feed I know I'm in for a relaxing, pleasant time :)
Sure appreciate that, Maquila! :D
Yes!! Another amazing video craftsman! Wow wow wow! All I can say is those are some beautiful patinas!
Thanks, Jacob! :) Man, I was excited with how they turned out. And they could ALL be even better!
I love you crafs man. Give crafs mama a hug from us fans over here in Michigan.
Consider it done, Chris! We appreciate you!
(And man, I sometimes think it's too cold in my workshop. All I gotta do is think of the word "Michigan", and I feel warmer here just because. ;) )
I didn't know about Randall Johnson until today but I feel like now I need to learn more.
That was one of my favorite instructionals yet. I swear, if you were my teacher or I had your videos back in middle and high school I probably would’ve turned out to be a crafsman myself! Keep it up, all the love!
Mannn, I appreciate that a lot! Mighty encouraging.
Thank you for this video. I’m making a wire pendant for my boyfriend for our anniversary and this is exactly what I have been looking for😊
The most relaxing voice on UA-cam. This dude needs to negotiate foreign policy
Your voice reminds me of my grandparents and it's very soothing
Actually I like them all! Sometimes when I'm putting copper sheet metal on a birdhouse roof, I'll even add some miracle grow to my patina concoction. It adds some nice blues to the mix. Keep up the great vids. This is my favorite youtube channel!
Hey Todd! I saw someone else mention Miracle Grow. I may eventually have to try that one too!
So glad you like my UA-cam channel. :D
You make me wanna do some metal working! Love listening, love learning. Keep them coming.
I'm glad to hear that, Debbie! Thanks for watching!
Crafsman, thank you for the side by side, just like all buddies ought to walk.
I love love love that pretty sky blue, looks like the freedom of a bird in a stormy sky.
Man, I love how positive of a patina this channel has! I like that you are using your opportunity to spread kindness (go call your parents...) and bring some happy craftin' our way! We need that these days. If you ever find yourself wanting to do some steady craftin' up in Canada, look me up! 👍 My hearing is good too.... Whatcha say? Hahaha!
We usually paint false Rusting at my work for miniatures but knowing the real methods is fascinating!
Hello there! :D There's definitely some benefit to using the false rusting. For one, you can control it and not worry about it going too far. Also, the integrity of the object is in-tact. I did this for some metal roofing one time, and felt good about it not having any thin rusted out parts like might happen with real rusted roofing. :)
Another great video! I really like the look of the peanut oil method.
You can always try different spices with it
I was happy with how that one turned out too, even if I did combust it.
Also, I'm thinking about trying some Walnut oil or similar. I have a feeling many oils would work for this.
Randall: L O L ! ! ! ! !
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL AND I LOVE THE CRAFTMAN! First time ever seeing him and I'm instantly sold. Good fella for sure!
The Crafsman is an alchemist! Transmuting copper into joy!!!!!✌💥👍👏👏👏
Love you too Crafsman.
:D
I don't know how to do that from the computer, but you know what I'm sayin. :)
Shout-out to my friend the California Raisin! Obviously, he heard about the CrafsMan through the grapevine. Ya dig? Much love to you, CrafsMan!
I just found your page! You are so much more entertaining than a lot of the soccer moms doing the same type of videos!!! No hating I'm a "soccer mom", but I'm subscribing and watching your videos first!! I also appreciate the explanations you give, instead of just showing how to do these different crafts!!! I think you're great!!
This means so much to me, Alyson! Thank you for the encouraging words, and for watching!
Apart from what you do [which is the best] you are a great teacher and have a great personality !
This is very kind of you! Thank you for encouraging me.
Who would thumbs down this?! Awesome video brother. Thanks for the different approaches. Gonna give this a shot...one day. :)
Wasn't me
Thank you for that! And it has become a funny thing. Back when the "Sketch to Sculpt" video came out (which was more popular than I expected), I got to noticing after that, I'd get a thumb down on every video, almost as soon as it was uploaded. LOL! I got me a subscriber steady waiting to thumbs it down. :)
TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin Well hey man...let the haters hate. You keep doing these amazing videos brother. Let them hate all by themselves. “Hatred corrodes the container it’s carried in.” God Bless brother.
Hey Randall! When’s your barbecue? Just tell us all what to bring! We’ll make it a potluck. I’ll bring the potato salad. Can we bring our pets too? Thanks, The CrafsFans 😜
Probably mid to late spring, depending on the latitude and longitude.
Bring whatever you like to eat and share!
I'm enjoying these Randall Johnson comments, y'all! :D :D :D
(And I'm sure glad Randall is an absolutely wonderful sport about this!)
You are not only a Good Artist but you have a Wonderful SOUL❗️🙏🏻 ♥️
I dont even watch you videos for the content i just find you voice so relaxing
I can't decide which one I like the best! Including the painted on patina one, they're all very pretty and copper is so interesting how it changes color. Thank you for another good video!
CrafsMan i just wanted to say how much i love the evolution and progress of your channel, i've been following it since quite a while and everytime a new video comes up it puts a big smile on my face! Have you considered getting into some voice stuff like VoiceOverPete? Cause you got an amazing and very relaxing voice, just saying :)
Franco, I appreciate your encouragement. I've actually never heard of VoiceOverPete until right now. I'll probably stick to just doing my little MP3s for folks on Etsy, but if things slow down, I'll keep that in mind. :D
Mr. TheCrafsMan, you are amazing and I'm so glad to have found you. You simultaneously educate and relax me. Thank you.
This has been the most fun diy metal/jewelry making video EVER. And I'm a tutorial junkie. Thank You for your knowledge, salt of the earth character, such fun humor... and for the truly ingenious way you throw in little nuggets, snack bites of phylosophy and wisdom!
Keep on keeping on... spreading happy vibes and helping others to learn cool new stuff!
your videos are gold!
Mannn, thank you so much!
Randy (Randall Johnson) sent me the link (I'm his dad, and proud of it!), and this is awesome! Now you've got me inspired! I play bass in a metal band, and I've been wondering what to do with my plain white pickguard on my seafoam green Fender bass. Now I've got it! Going to buy a copper pickguard and put a patina on that thang!! Gonna have to study your video!!! Thanks you sir!
Steve, it's nice to meet you! :) As you can tell, I think your dad is a cool guy. It sounds like you're carrying on that tradition. ;) Thanks so much for watching, and commenting! I hope your bass guitar pickguard project goes well! (Would be happy to check out the finished project, if you're inclined! thecrafsman@gmail.com)
All the best to you, buddy!
This is how discombobulated my mind was... I read that all backwards! I’m so sorry! LOL! I was thinking Randall is your dad. I apologize! Either way, y’all are a great bunch!
There are craft videos that are, frankly, boring. However, yours are anything but! And I love that you don’t fit the stereotype of the average crafter. Creative, talented, informative, and funny all in one!
SO very kind of you to say! Thank you for watching, and taking time to encourage me!
Crafsman! You’re simply the best.
Mighty kind, my friend.
The new Bob Ross
Mannnnnn, I don't know about that but I sure do appreciate your kindness. :)
Who ever was doing that singing sounded like a true songbird haha, the family loves them some classic crafsman action 😀🤙
:D Thank you and your family for watching, Nova Kane!
This is a super dope video and I swear Crafsman you are the most wholesome man around this website!
Alexander, thank you SO MUCH! Comments like this do my heart a lot of good. I'm very happy you continue to like what I do!
Best "how to" video I've seen. You go Crafsman.
crafsman, you can use mustard for patina too, we used to treat our opinels with it, give it a nice aged look.
Mustard also good with just sausages.
Mustard! Gotta try it, my man! Thank you!
Hi Crafsman! 💕
Chatarain’s! Made me smile to see that pop up.
;) Glad you liked that!
Mr CrafsMan, you make me smile in a way that no one else but Bob Ross can.
This is the voice that I like most. Good memories. Craftsman, I’m making a video of an octopus, going to give it a Cooper finish and going to try to patina it with ammonia and salt
Hecks yeah Crafsman! Let me know when that Randall Johnson cookout is happenin', I'll be there.
YESSIR! :D Always appreciate you, buddy.
I need a "Randal Johnson" friend. Won't try Liver of Sulfar because ammonia is bad enough. I grew up developing blueprints using ammonia vapors. Nasty!
I'm here for you
@@thedangersofoxygen135 You just made my week! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the smile.
I'm glad I could help.
The Crafsman once again proves his awesome
@@thedangersofoxygen135 He is awesome indeed!
I liked running blueprints. But when I was pregnant I craved the smell of gasoline. Maybe there’s something wrong with me.🤣
Hey Thanks !
We had fun hangin with you !
My mans got the chillest voice I’ve heard
Super cool crafsman! I love the blue elephant patina. Are you gonna make anything with your copper pieces? Id like to see what ya come up with. Keep steady craftin!
Thanks, Peter! Those are just samples for the video; I didn’t have much in mind beyond that. May put them up on Etsy for someone to drill and make pendants or something.
Gettin’ crazy with that peanut oil! 😂 Everything you touch becomes beautiful. 😘😘
;) Thanks, Jenn! You're steady kind, as always. I feel like I should have put a THIN coat up on that, but even still, it gave it a fairly dark patina. I'm going to try some other oils sometime. (Walnut?)
What is it called when someone is good at craftin? With plants its green thumb.
Auto generated subtitles do not disappoint 🤣
Thanks for the patina tips and as always thanks for the clean entertainment Crafts Man!
LOL! I guess UA-cam’s subtitle system thinks I’m the “Grassman”. :D Glad you enjoyed this! Thanks so much!
I'm so happy to have found this channel.
Lol crafsman, love your videos even if my boyfriend thinks I'm weird for it!!! 🙃🙃🙃 Do you plan to come out with any more chickens or other creatures? I'd love to support you and get a piece for myself!!!
Thanks so much! Second release of chickens is set for Dec 11th. :)
"That's what I call 'neutralized'" LOL!!
I did not expect to start a jewelry craft vid and end it dying with laughter and tears in my eyes. Immediately subscribed. You got me with the sock puppet 😂
How did I just find this channel! So great. So soothing. So informative
