See what kind of financing you can get from a bank on your own FIRST, before you go to the dealership. Then you can counter the dealer's marked up financing offer with your better rate, or simply say, no thanks, I'll finance on my own. Basically the only time it's better to go with the dealer financing package is when it is part of a special deal from the manufacturer. Either way, if you get a quote/rate from a bank or credit union first, you'll know if what they are offering you at the dealer is good/fair/ridiculous.

I totally disgree with the clutch and the way the auto revving system works, I’ve driven hundreds of manual cars in the past 5 years and this is the first car I’ve stalled in 5 years 3 times, I love the clunkieness of this car, makes it feel much more serious then it’s competitors , good video!
The clutch bite point is really vague. First time I drove the car I tried to drive it out of the parking lot without using the gas and just feeling out the bite point. Since it was a cold start the anti stall was keeping the revs higher and really couldn't feel the bite at all. You just start moving as you let it out. I can see why you'd stall it, you just can't feel anything.
@@Vermonsteredthats one of the best desicriptions of the issue I’ve ever seen And anti stall is a serious issue cause it stops u from being able to rev the car, 2 months of ownerships I still pay attention everyday but that’s what makes it great lolll The anti stall almost got me stuck in a middle section one day lol
@@jdmbren13 The anti stall prevents you from giving gas? Normally on drive by wire cars the car will see the RPM's dropping below intended so the computer will open the throttle slightly. If the GRC computer can't take user input while it's implementing it's own anti stall it seems backwards as the driver is asking for even more gas. Just picked up a 2024 white Core yesterday at msrp. I’ve been waiting for them to get one, which they didn’t last year. Was in the dealership for an oil change on my Corolla xse and saw it on the floor. They had just received it so I pounced! Has the Performance package. Great fun to drive. Personally, I’d prefer to pay 7k less and not get all the other “stuff” added. Simple interior is fine. I’ve had 2 M2’s, 2 Golf R’s and an Audi S3 and was never that impressed with the “upscale” interior. Plastics all around as well. I’d rather save my money and still get the performance. Good luck to all who are trying to get them. Just be patient. Peace
I'm going to purchase my new 2024 GR Corolla tomorrow. This video was very helpful in regards to specific details. There are only 1 question that I have. Can to swap out the head unit for an aftermarket deck? I don't want a screen in front of me for any reason, unless it is functional (ie. oil temp, oil pressure, etc).
One thing i think gets overlooked is the fact that the circuit edition only has 1,600 built. Because they made so little of those cars, the engines were actually hand built rather than machine factory built. So, in my personal non expert toyota dealership opinion, it makes it more reliable!
I’ve owned one for 8 months now and have loved it from the very first drive. Sure, there are small annoyances like the interior rattling and such but it is greatly overshadowed by the cars handling, performance and feel👌🏼.
Interior rattle in a NEW CAR is unforgivable to me. I have the OG Matrix that this car came from, its an '08 and the interior is STILL quiet. How the hell can you drive while hearing plastic rattling around your ears?
@@PurpleMonkeyWaffle it’s definitely annoying and quite the shock from a new car if I’m honest. Yet, it’s an easy fix for the dome light assembly that does not overshadow at all the rest of what this car offers. It’s a car meant to be driven hard so eventually something will be rattling regardless I believe.
@@Jeyxero I'm for sure one for taking my brand new stuff apart to make it work better for me, brings me closer to the car. It just seems like Toyota cut corners on everything they could and still ask a premium price when really all this has is AWD. Many cars have a turbo and LSD so this car isn't special in terms of offering brilliance. Its just an AWD corolla for 50k!! Yet 10 minutes of hard driving and the oil and clutch overheat, interior rattling, ugly cheap interior (my '08 matrix looks better), thin paint, poor paint options, poor trunk space, overpriced. Toyota said it was gonna be an affordable fun car... Its 50k in Canada and it looks like you need to put another 10 or more into it to make it what it was supposed to be.....Its incredibly disappointing to many many people. P.S My Matrix was offered in AWD too lol For pennies more.
What's surprising to me is that there are any build-quality issues with this car as it's advertised as being built in a special factory by specially trained master technicians.
Its a compelling vehicle in a number of respects and a standout . It’s a great competitor to the Acura Type S a front wheel drive vehicle which lacks the exclusivity of the Corolla GR.
I think it’s safe to say, the GR Yaris and Corolla are going to be Legendary in 10+ years and possibly rival the 2JZ. Such a fun, quirky, unique driving experience! I absolutely love my GRC
After watching videos of ownership. These cars have a lot of issues with paint.. For 40k+, that's a little steep. Better off waiting for the 2025 model? Not sure if they'll fix the current issues by then.. 😢 Been holding off for now between the type r.
My Tacoma is almost paid off. I’ll keep that until I no longer owe money for it and wait to see the new Supra if they do what was done with the GT86 and give it a new body and chasis improvement. Same for GR Corolla.
I went online to look for grs and surprisingly enough, there are lot of them going for MSRP, specially the black ones. I did some research and it seems this vehicle was overhyped, the black color is the least desirable and apparently it has some issues with the diif overheating and going into fwd.. I'm surprised you didnt talk about that.
You may want to call them before assuming that. Some are actually msrp and available, most are marked up (mine was advertised at msrp but they were originally asking 10 over 😂). I talked about the awd overheating in this, it’s in the drawbacks portion. I’ve never personally had it overheat. Definitely not overhyped unless you were expecting it to feel like an awd miata!
man my car is a 2023 black GR Core and has seen multiple rally events. even got on 3 wheels. almost at my 1 year mark as I received it in December 2022. smiles per gallon are infinite.
one reason the 2021 ND RF got me to sell it was that AWEFUL "Beepbeepbeep" lane departure warning and it's insistence that I was going to crash every time there was traffic. That too is an engaging 6 speed mini monster with a torsen.. But worst of all it is virtually un-tunable to my standards. I know anyone riding the nuts of Mazda who is reading this might say "ya but there's a Fab9 supercharger" - I will reiterate, un-tunable to my standards. I miss the older generation of miatas where the engines were closed deck and COULD handle 400+whp worth of turbo boost if you could just manage the drivetrain to match (which you could!). These newer miatas don't seem to have the aftermarket and high performance crowd doing anything more than drag their feet, but their cool if you want to leave it stock and do some fitment industries "builds" (just wheels, tires, suspension) 🙄. I've since moved backward to an MR2 Spyder - which to be frankly honest Embarrasses the new ND on all performance ceiling fronts OTHER than NVH, but it is equally comfortable - surprisingly. It even has more cargo space. I think the new GR corolla might be a POSSIBLE stable mate for my Mk3 MR2 and Mk4 Supra. It seems to fill the void between the 2 pretty well. It's the only one that isn't a convertible though (and I had a strict no boring-roof cars allowed rule before... well I guess Its worth bending for the ultimate daily)

I have been looking at them for a couple of months, but they are really uncommon in my region. I am considering ordering one through Toyota, but I would still have to wait for a batch that isn't completely spoken for to have a chance at allocating one. I almost pulled the plug on a Civic Type R, but they are just a little too much "Hot Boy" flamboyant for me.
In most cases, yeah, that’s been the big appeal to the wrx for decades but if you can actually find one at msrp, the difference is more like $6k and you get more features with the GR for that money too, just less space!
Where in Canada? I'm in Calgary and it's been a while since I looked, but I think they were around that. I'm still happy with my S4 but in a couple more years when this markup stuff is over, I might get one of these? This or a Golf R really in you need/want awd and hatch. The new WRX is ugly or else I'd of gotten one (well, wanted an STi wagon but we know how that ended lol)
what their sports cars need is an infotainment system upgrade, like why is it a boxed TV? I've seen ford do better, Mazda, and some of their toyota did it better than this, boxy shaped screen. it doesn't fit the whole sporty look, they'd rather switch it to a radio system if that's the case. would have fit the whole vibe better. That's the only thing that bothers me on this car, everything else is 👌 fantastic.
There's one for sale in Canada for 54995 because the previous owner wrapped it in stealth PPF but the interest rates are at 9% and the sale price with tax is 60k... I'll get a used M2 for that price and wipe the floor with this GRC... Toyota should get a grip.

Interior rattles, check. I Fixed them in my 4runner, it was the windshield cowl. Brakes squeak? yeah my 4runner does that too. Besides that it's way better than my previous junk Jeep gladiator. Two years and it was falling apart.
To be frank the argument that a $40k lil bare-bone sporter is affordable is grinding my gears. But ooh it has a 0-60 in blah blah blah EVERY CAR NOW HAS GOOD PERFORMANCE NUMBERS GOD DAMMIT THEY DONT MEAN ANYTHING ANYMORE
Biggest problem with the EVs - they all have insane 0-60 times but god are they all soulless fat porkers. Kind of like Old American Muscle all over again, fast in a straight line and thats it!
For that money, you can get RAV4 GR and all the comfort you want. But I think Toyota is ripping of their costumers, since even GR doesn't perform as it stands for. Many people are saying that the GR just lacks umph and really doesn't give the feeling of being GR.
The people saying that are jaded, the only other GR performance models literally aren't Toyotas. I've driven all, the GR86 is the most fun but the GRC is awesome in its own way and much much quicker which is partially why I didn't buy the GR86.
@@Realistick Sure. Lots of people suggest getting AWD, for example on Yaris Cross, etc., than to buy a GR version. Would you suggest GR86 is more for daily driving, if you are not too much of a car enthusiast?
These videos fooled me. The interior didnt change other than seats, jbl, wireless charger and heated steering wheel. The door panels and plastics are not improved over the core. (GR premium owner)
Toyota announced they are going to make an automatic trans with paddle shifters. This excites me because the are I live in is a nightmare for having a manual
Common problems include stealerships slapping on mind melting markups, low stock, low production numbers, and I'll be honest I'd like an auto which I know triggers "enthusiasts" to no end but when I'm sleep deprived in the morning getting to work, the last thing I wanna do is deal with driving stick + clutch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ with an auto, you always have the choice to row gears when you want to
It’s a bit of an abusive, low production car so I get why they don’t even bother with an AT, I actually haven’t had any police troubles with the car (knocking on everything now), to most, it’s just a corolla.
I can sell you my 2014 EVO X //MR with only 3k miles...YES 3KMiles only! You can have it if the price is right...I actually still have some of the factory plastics on the vehicle...only reasoned it stayed that low on mileage is because I drive our family cars more. 😊
Toyota dealers in south central Wisconsin are just awful. They have no interest in helping anyone reserve a GR Corolla and when they are randomly allocated one it's offered for sale at a huge markup. I went to a dealer to ask them in person how I could get on a list and reserve a '24 and they basically shrugged, said they didn't know anything about them, and that the THREE they got all year were gone. Utterly useless.
Funny enough, up here in oregon I'm seeing a lot of 23s with roughly 5k miles on them and dealers still want 5-15k over msrp. Maybe 2025 we'll see first year's at msrp?

No, but sometimes I miss the days not having to worry about getting rock chips and door dings in the parking lot.
I found mine at msrp, it just took a while. This car is hilarious on backroads, but if you just commute to work on busy highways, I'd just get a tesla. On empty roads, or backroads, this car is a dream.
Talking to someone who works at a Toyota dealer I was told the most common issue is burnt up clutches. As to if that is the result of agressive racing, design shortcoming or people not knowing how to drive manual is to be contested
Definitely user error, it’s pretty easy to cook a clutch with AWD!
@@Realistick That is my hope. Somewhat glad this is not my first manual but it is my first new car and I want to baby it.
Bro idk what prices or where u live but I just bought a core and I love it I paid like 42 and change the premium is 46 circuit 48 and 50 it’s crazy
Just put down a deposit for a Premium in black coming in towards the end of the month from a dealer that says they do MSRP! First time buying a new car so not sure what to expect in terms of haggling with financing/other upsells but looking forward to it!
my first car, i said "no" for 3 hrs... they even had to bring in 2 managers for me to say no to 😂
in sales there are lions and lambs, be a lion! You're not going to hurt anyone's feelings.
@@floaterfans I mean I don't mind letting the guy have his cut, he wants his bag, I want a car that's hard to get, I don't mind if he gets a little nicer of a check. Just not like 5k+ markup LOL
@@ragweedmakesmesneeze This is what I ended up doing! Bank of America offered 5.8% on a pre-approval, the dealership wanted to give me 10% LOL. Had the preapproval in hand so they couldn't do anything about it, put 30% down and rejected the extra warranties and such. I did take the $1300 tire and wheel warranty though because I've had flats on the poorly maintained roads before so I'm sure I'll end up using it at some point over the 5 years it applies for. All told I got out of there with MSRP + 1300 tire/wheel warranty. It's a 5 year loan but I'll be throwing extra money at it as my stocks vest and I get bonuses and plan on paying it off in 3 years to save interest.
Got the car two days before New Years, absolutely love it so far.
Just got mines today the car its a blast!
Mine. Not mines. ..mines are where you get minerals and other raw resources out of. In the case of a military application.. mines are explosive devices.
I totally disgree with the clutch and the way the auto revving system works,
I’ve driven hundreds of manual cars in the past 5 years and this is the first car I’ve stalled in 5 years
3 times, I love the clunkieness of this car, makes it feel much more serious then it’s competitors , good video!
@@Vermonsteredthats one of the best desicriptions of the issue I’ve ever seen
And anti stall is a serious issue cause it stops u from being able to rev the car,
2 months of ownerships I still pay attention everyday but that’s what makes it great lolll
The anti stall almost got me stuck in a middle section one day lol
@@jdmbren13 The anti stall prevents you from giving gas? Normally on drive by wire cars the car will see the RPM's dropping below intended so the computer will open the throttle slightly. If the GRC computer can't take user input while it's implementing it's own anti stall it seems backwards as the driver is asking for even more gas. Would keep me on my toes creeping along in traffic or parking lots!
@@Vermonstered that’s exactly what I mean, it can’t and it’s ridiculous, either that or the clutch point becomes none exist, to turn off anti stall input in an emergency u essentially have to slam the clutch to the floor to pop it again, other then that, flying into a corner this transmission is gold.
@@Vermonstered and yes I drove through 2 hours of Toronto traffic yesterday and it was hell, unless driven how It’s intended* the car essentially feels like a brunt clutch from factory , ur constantly deciding whether to gas ur self or let it to do it, it’s pretty funny, but a lot of effort
Core with performance package is the sweet Spot.
Would be so cool if Mitsuoka would make a car based on this Toyota and then import.
I would vote for them doing luxe version of the IS or the old GS platform.
Awesome information. Thank you
One thing i think gets overlooked is the fact that the circuit edition only has 1,600 built.
@@ragweedmakesmesneeze Right? Corners were cut plain and simple.
Its a compelling vehicle in a number of respects and a standout . It’s a great competitor to the Acura Type S a front wheel drive vehicle which lacks the exclusivity of the Corolla GR.
"how will it ever handle the power of a cold air intake and stickers??" 🤣
Not sure about the gearbox opinion. Test drove it earlier and the shifter feel was amazing coming from a '22 BRZ
Really good presentation. I'd choose it because of snow performance... and then would feel miserable exposing it to the salt :(
when ill have the money, ill get the best trim.
this year im working hard for this shit
I’ve seen a few for msrp around where I live and Im really considering just getting one
Yeah I seen a couple owners show paint chips real early in ownership. Just another corner cut by Toyota.
My Tacoma is almost paid off. I’ll keep that until I no longer owe money for it and wait to see the new Supra if they do what was done with the GT86 and give it a new body and chasis improvement. Same for GR Corolla.
how did you enjoy the GRC at mid-Ohio?? I did my HPDE there with my GRC and it handled phenomenal!
What's Toyota saying regarding the clutch packs overheating?
Putins fault. So we have to send more aid to Israel
I’ve seen them going under sticker already
Now im debating if i should sell my 22 BRZ
Waiting on these mark ups to go down still :/ only ones I’ve seen for msrp are far from Florida
one reason the 2021 ND RF got me to sell it was that AWEFUL "Beepbeepbeep" lane departure warning and it's insistence that I was going to crash every time there was traffic.
Can that anti-stall in first gear be turned off? I had a Focus RS that also had this and it was occasionally annoying.
Pretty sure anti stall is part of iMT so I think if you turn off iMT you turn off anti stall.
The rear diff issue is going to be a constant issue… I hope Toyota comes up with a fix.
If you’re hot lapping it, definitely , though I’ve driven it pretty hard in varying temperatures off track and have never run into problems with it!
@@Realistick if you actually drive this car hard you can overheat rear diff in 10 mins… this was in 85 degrees in the Midwest… if you select track mode 50/50 you get lucky with 15 mins… Great review btw, I’m near Chicago area
@@pushtoyota You’ve overheated while off-track? I haven’t pushed it hard for very long on a track (I did one autocross section with it and the hdpe intro day for the GR track day) so maybe that’s why I can’t add anything to that conversation. Either way, I really hope Toyota offers a factory vent and/or heat shield, cooler to alleviate it in the future!
@@Realistick hope to see you out on track more often. Come out to Gingerman Raceway or Autobahn. This GR Corolla is great, but if you drive the car the way Toyota says you can you won’t have more than 10 mins of fun before you over heat the rear diff….
Lol I rip the crap out of that handbrake on my circuit edition😅
How has it been holding up? Wanting to know how hard I can thrash on mine lol
@@RobbieMinor please note that I actually haven’t done that since I made this comment but umm… well I posted a video about it
Awesome car, for the average Joe it’s prob best to get base WRX for almost 10k cheaper 😅
In most cases, yeah, that’s been the big appeal to the wrx for decades but if you can actually find one at msrp, the difference is more like $6k and you get more features with the GR for that money too, just less space!
Yeah in Canada these are over $60k. 20k more than a WRX. I'd love a GRC but that price is hilarious really.
Yeah big difference there from what I’ve heard!
What...Ontario core msrp 45k no markup
@@brendanchess8954 interesting, makes me wonder what I could get for my manual S4 lol

what their sports cars need is an infotainment system upgrade, like why is it a boxed TV?
Is the cricket also giving a review
I want the gr yaris brought to north America. I already have my family vehicle, and would prefer the smaller yaris for my fun little toy.
The more I learn about the GRC, the more I missed the GR Sti.
I just need one reason after driving a core edition, It's probably the most fun car I have driven. That video would be too short, so you had to come up with 6 reasons.
I just can’t get past the interior is the reason why I went for the ELANTRA N AS MY DAILY.
1 huge reason to pass!!! The rear diff. Over heats on a track!!! And there's nothing you can do about it!!!
All the noises give the car character! It's a good thing. Want quiet? Buy a Lexus.
Is it true about reliability issues?
Interior rattles, check. I Fixed them in my 4runner, it was the windshield cowl. Brakes squeak? yeah my 4runner does that too. Besides that it's way better than my previous junk Jeep gladiator. Two years and it was falling apart.
I love my gr corolla circuit edition
To be frank the argument that a $40k lil bare-bone sporter is affordable is grinding my gears. But ooh it has a 0-60 in blah blah blah EVERY CAR NOW HAS GOOD PERFORMANCE NUMBERS GOD DAMMIT THEY DONT MEAN ANYTHING ANYMORE
Biggest problem with the EVs - they all have insane 0-60 times but god are they all soulless fat porkers. Kind of like Old American Muscle all over again, fast in a straight line and thats it!
Some Recaro's and this car is dope.
good luck finding one off a lot for MSRP
GRrrrrrr (Every Pirate's choice)

Do you ever regret buying this over a CTR?
I have second thoughts sometimes, but after looking at a new one locally for $60k, it got rid of that bug. Im gunning for a comparison asap
The "market adjustments" aka Greedy dealership price gouges.
These videos fooled me. The interior didnt change other than seats, jbl, wireless charger and heated steering wheel. The door panels and plastics are not improved over the core. (GR premium owner)
A major turnoff for me with this car was the base model not coming with the LSDs
Over where I'm at. All of them come with the performance package.
buying a base core is a waste.

How tall are you? Headroom and legroom alright for you? Can you sit behind yourself?
It would be cooler if Volkswagen lowered the price of the Golf R.
Toyota announced they are going to make an automatic trans with paddle shifters. This excites me because the are I live in is a nightmare for having a manual
Sounds like a good time
Common problems include stealerships slapping on mind melting markups, low stock, low production numbers, and I'll be honest I'd like an auto which I know triggers "enthusiasts" to no end but when I'm sleep deprived in the morning getting to work, the last thing I wanna do is deal with driving stick + clutch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ with an auto, you always have the choice to row gears when you want to
Also, the cops will be on your butt like white on rice. It already happens in my GR86
GR Rolla AWD ftw! MSRP sucks lol...
Wish it had an arm rest
And an aluminum dead pedal to match the rest.
I muted this video a few time because I thought there was a cricket in my house! 😂
He was really screaming
The cricket noise in the back is atrocious- can’t get past 10 sec in the video.

Me too. Unfortunately I'm upside down on my 22 Camary and I can't afford the hit. Midwest at $0 markup. They had a CE at 2k over. Couldn't afford that one even more😢 Waited on the list 18 months to have to pass them up. They just arrived Oct 6th, 23. I think we are the last place in the country to get them 😂. Isn't life fun.
