I remember a long time ago seeing this “behind the scenes” thing as kid where they said specifically that this scene was modeled after the D-Day landings.
I fail to see why this would be more epic when half of the sounds mostly High pitch from original are muffled and scuffed and an attempt make strong bass by enhancing the lowest of lows as much as you can. I've heard Marching soldiers making more impressive performances.
