We have an excellent Mexican supermarket chain in Southern California called Northgate. It is like being in Mexico. Quality is great, helpfully staff, fresh tortillas!
All kinds of people eat foods inside of grocery stores before paying for them here in Texas to. In my local H.E.B. we have some, but not all of those "exotic" fruits and vegetables here. I personally prefer to gather my own prickly pears, and such. They are literally just growing all over the place outside. We haven't had to wear masks in Texas since mid March. Some people still do 🤷♂️ I just wear a neck gator so I can politely cover up if I have to sneeze or cough without having to use my hands to catch the spray.
Spanish-speaking supermarket workers are sedulous (hard-working) -- but foggy with their common sense. In the supermarkets they seem dazed and devoid of directional sense: They will sweep your feet, bump you with their boxes, and *won't stop-mop until they plop slop on you.*
