Agreed. I fired Marriott years ago for the exact reasons that you experienced. I haven't missed them. I found Hyatt and an amazing experience and staff around the world. I think Hyatt has the best pillows, too.
Thanks for another great video. We've had a really different experience with Marriott. We are Platinum and recently got upgraded to a 2-floor penthouse suite at Niagra Falls with a balcony overlooking the falls. It was spectacular. We've also been upgraded to a 2-floor Penthouse Suite at a Sheraton in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. We are leaving to slow travel around the world soon and I'm hoping we get some of the same perks as we travel. We will definitely work toward IHG status too.
Not sure where they are travelling honestly. With Marriott I've had a 100% suite upgrade rate, and that includes three Ritz-Carltons. Thats with Marriott Platinum. I've been upgraded to a suite in a Marriott everywhere from Istanbul to Cusco to Bali.
We love the videos! Which Choice credit card did you get, the free one or the $95 one? Just booked a flight out of San Diego to Ft. Lauderdale when I quit my job in April for a Transatlantic cruise and staying four nights at an IHG beforehand....guess we have learned a lot from you! Thanks...
Thank you for the hotel status breakdown. Really good information. Keep hearing how great the Hyatt program is. Just spent 9 weeks in Europe. Hyatt properties were not readily available. Those found were really expensive.
Unfortunately, not all of us were financially literate early, I was 35 when I finally educated myself and started taking steps. I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 2 years later, fully debt-free and over $1000,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but l'm incredibly proud of it. Now I'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $400,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling! Thanks Evelyn Infurna.
Evelyn Infurna Services has really set the standard for others to follow, we love her here in Canada 🇨🇦 as she has been really helpful and changed lots of life's
I went from no money to lnvest with to busting my A** off on Uber eats for four months to raise about $20k to start trading with Evelyn Infurna. I am at $128k right now and LOVING that you have to bring this up here
I know this lady you just mentioned. Evelyn Infurna Services is a portfolio manager and investment advisor. She gained recognition as a former employee at Goldman Sachs; a renowned investor she is. Evelyn Infurna has demonstrated expertise in investment strategies n has been involved in managing portfolios and providing guidance to clients.
I searched for her complete name on the internet and located her page. I then sent an email and scheduled a meeting to converse with her; now, I'm awaiting her response.
I've found that Marriott in the US has been decent. Where we've traveled they are often less $$ than IHG. Hyatt sounds nice, but no chance with them - they rarely are available where we've traveled.
Great video! I have the IHG card, so I’m already Platinum. I’ve got some upcoming travel to London, Paris, and Strasbourg. I’ll be staying at the Holiday Inn in London and Strasbourg and the InterContinental in Paris. Paris will fall over my birthday so I wanted to treat myself 😊 I took advantage of IHG’s 80% bonus promotion when buying points, which allowed me to cover my stays in London and Strasbourg. Really looking forward to the trip! Hyatt is my other favorite chain, so I plan to focus on earning with them next. Thanks for the recommendations!
We got the IHG card through the link you provided and have bought many, many points. Staying for 18 nights in Arizona at an IHG over the holidays. I booked the room in multiples of four nights as you recommend but I notice that while they say the fourth night is free, the first three nights are no longer at the point rate quoted but fluctuate to almost wipe out the fourth night free - maybe save 2000-3000 points over the four days. Maybe this is just the case in the USA and not abroad? The best part of buying points and using those instead of $$ is the flexibility to cancel without penalty and the savings on the state and local taxes.
I noticed the same thing with IHG points. I booked 4 nights in Santa Fe in the spring. The website quoted me 24,500 points. I mistakenly thought that was for each of the 3 nights, but learned afterwards it was an average for 4 nights. I bought points on sale so that helped, too. Now I know the point valued is averaged over 4 nights.
Great video and I appreciate the perspective. I have the Hyatt card and they are definitely the most valuable hotel points currency. Hyatt milestone rewards are fun and I appreciate they don’t charge resort fees on nights paid on points. Hilton also doesn’t charge resort fees on nights paid on points (Marriott and IHG do) and with Gold status and above you (and a player 2) get a breakfast credit at participating brands (the breakfast credit is more with higher brands). I like that you can buy Hilton points on sale and you can book 4 nights on points to get the 5th free. Side note, I do have the Aspire card lol and have received a few very nice upgrades stateside. I haven’t explored IHG yet but that might be next, I like that you can buy points and book 3 nights in points and get the 4th free. Stateside I don’t see as many great IHG points redemptions which has given me some pause.
Great channel and content. Thank you as a long term subscriber and fan! Do you find as Hyatt Globalists, you get upgraded to suites often in Southeast Asia, without having to use Suite Upgrade rewards? I was under the impression that Globalist status granted the member suite upgrades with a standard room reservation unless suites are already fully booked for planned stay dates. I’m working hard to achieve Globalist status and that was one of the perks I was most attracted by. Thanks in advance for any insights you can share on that based on your experiences in traveling through Southeast Asia.
What status level are you at Marriott? At Le Meridian by BKK I always get upgraded to a suite. I am a Platinum level. I did not know that Raddison even had a program., interesting. Stayed at the Rad Red in Madrid and enjoyed it. Rad Blu’s throughout Europe look nice too.
I always got good values for my IHG in East Asia. I’ve no doubt Hyatt will be the same or better; it’s just that they have a lot less properties than IHG in East Asia. Correct me if I’m wrong, I believe you guys have Marriott Gold status that came with Amex. I wonder if you had the Brilliant card, it’d make a huge difference since you’d have access to lounge and I know you will get more upgrade with the Platinum status in Asia. I feel like all I need is IHG, Hyatt, and Marriott in Asia.
Not sure where you guys are travelling honestly. With Marriott I've had a 100% suite upgrade rate, and that includes three Ritz-Carltons. Thats with Marriott Platinum. I've been upgraded to a suite in a Marriott everywhere from Istanbul to Cusco to Bali.
Question about the criteria used. Did you consider the CC and other benefits it offers for the particular chain? Say IHG is better for x or y because their car also give you this and that benefit? Or was it solely on the chain membership like Hilton Honors (without any Hilton card)??
I’ve had all these statuses and Hyatt is on par with what Starwood used to be before Marriott bought them. IHG status is only good for higher-end properties. In my experience, Marriott and Hyatt have better higher-end properties than IHG.
Can you layer these programs with your travel credit cards ( like chase sapphire preferred)? Or do you have to use the hotel chain credit card? What is best strategy?
I have a question regarding IHG status. Do nights carryover to the next year? Example, if you end 2024 with 35 nights, can you stay 5 nights in 2025 then get status for 2025/2026?
One other Hyatt related question - are you taking advantage of Hyatt’s “25% More” point sale going on now through early January? Do you think that represents a good value?
With Marriott you didn't build actual status with them. The real status is the life time status. Once you build that then you get great upgrades. I travel with work and usually stay in hotels for 300 plus days a year. I use Marriott and IHG. I'll do the first 100 days in IHG then stay the rest of the time in Marriotts. And you didn't get the top tier status as there is a spend. Of course you're not talking about this on your videos which I find very miss leading.
QQ. Hello currently in IHG for the next 6 weeks will have 40 nights prior to end of December. How to leverage lounge access for 2025/2026. Thank you for all the information
You will receive the award choices after your 40th night stay posts. Just wait until Jan 1st to select the Lounge Access award. We are doing the same thing.

There are better hotels in South East Asia and Europe than IHG, Marriot, Hilton or Hyatt. Promoting your referral links to get commissions makes the review bias. Selling your main residence and squandering the equity that you built for over 20 years RENTING hotels and then trying to make back with a UA-cam channel is not retirement and is unwise ❤.
1. Hyatt 2. IHG 3. Radisson 4. Hilton 5 Marriot
Thanks for the info + video!
I agree Hyatt Globalist is far and away the best of the bunch. I left Marriott as a Titanium and have never looked back.
Agreed. I fired Marriott years ago for the exact reasons that you experienced. I haven't missed them.
I found Hyatt and an amazing experience and staff around the world. I think Hyatt has the best pillows, too.
Hilton is my favorite, but I’m in the opposite situation so interesting to hear the different perspective.

@@Re3iRtH I'm so glad to hear that you have had such luck with suite upgrades around the world. I hope we have the same luck! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video. Thanks so much for sharing your experience - great content!
Thank you again for a great video with information that excites my soul.

Super useful information. Thankyou
I end up staying in local owned or regional chains around the world, but I like your hunt for deals with the biggies!
Great info!!!! Thank you so much
Love the content you give!
Great videos, as usual.
Thanks!
Really like your style. I purchased 50,000 points so I started out conservative.
Awesome!

We do get upgraded quite often, but they aren't always available
Can you explain how you got the top tier status offer from Raddison if you hadn't stayed there? What do you think prompted the offer?
What status level are you at Marriott? At Le Meridian by BKK I always get upgraded to a suite. I am a Platinum level. I did not know that Raddison even had a program., interesting. Stayed at the Rad Red in Madrid and enjoyed it. Rad Blu’s throughout Europe look nice too.
Good day to you both.
Question; do you have IHG travel card OR the IHG premier card?
Have you thought about Wyndham status? Their higher end properties are really nice.
Yes! Marriott could be more generous. I always get upgrades when I use a Marriott, but it is constantly pricey. Hilton is also a pain.
Waiting for your thoughts on Wyndham and Choice!
We just got the IHG👍🏻
It is awesome

Which IHG card should you start with? IHG has a free card and one with a $99 annual fee. I will be traveling to Thailand and Japan.
It's the $99 dollar one. IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card
@ Great!! Thank you

What status do u need to get ihg free lounge access?
Does hotel status reset every year like airline status, or do you keep it once you achieve it?
Would like to hear your experiences in Europe.
One other Hyatt related question - are you taking advantage of Hyatt’s “25% More” point sale going on now through early January? Do you think that represents a good value?
It depends on your use case, in many cases it would, you just have to do the math on your particular property

Did the buy points get 100% more points still give you 20% off your points purchase if you used your high credit card?
