I was a 80's teenager bought Appetite for Destruction cassette tape rocked it in my car. I went to a GNR concert in Dallas 1988, and I can still tell you that Led Zeppelin in my opinion is the greatest band of all time. There is no one that even comes close. GNR was heavily inspired by Led Zeppelin that is a fact.
Led Zeppelin was more than just rock. They were blues, country, funk, heavy metal and soul. They were just this in one word - VERSATILE. Guns & Roses basically just kept in one lane - hard rock with sometimes doing a metal ballad. That's it with them. Guns & Roses wishes they could have been somewhere in the same realm as Led Zep. They couldn't even match Led Zeppelin musician to musician.
Musicians learn from musicians that came before; Led Zeppelin came before Guns and Roses. The question might be; did Guns and Roses learn and improve on what came before? Taste in music is subjective but the music itself is NOT subjective. So we can judge a composition by (1) the vision it proposes and (2) whether the structure helped the musician(s) convey that vision. If the vision exalts virtues the audience is lifted, society is fortified and civilisation bettered. As I see it; to the degree the structure of the composition brings out the clearest expression of that vision from a competent musician/artist, we can judge. My 2 cents.
Slash of Guns admitted that he and his entire band were influenced by Led Zeppelin. He also said in an interview during the induction of Led Zeppelin into the UK Hall of Fame that if it wasn't for Led Zeppelin, bands like his would not even exist!

No industry plant here. Jimmy Page was the last member of the great band, the Yardbirds, who disbanded in 1968. Jimmy was the UK's greatest session musician (hired to play on recordings for other bands), and he was in the Yardbirds at their end. When the Yardbirds disbanded, Jimmy had Yardbird concert dates already booked, so he needed to get guys together to be the "New Yardbirds." Another great session musician, keyboardist/bassist John Paul Jones heard Jimmy was putting together a new band, and asked to join. When Jimmy was looking for a lead singer, he wanted to use the great Terry Reid....but he was under contract and committed to other gigs. Terry suggested an "unknown" singer he had heard play live in a small club, Robert Plant. Jimmy went to hear Plant sing, and offered him the gig. Robert accepted, and also told Jimmy that Robert had a friend who was a great drummer, by the name of John Bonham. Jimmy went to hear Bonham play, and convinced him to join the New Yardbirds. They played a gig or two under that name, but changed their name to "Led Zeppelin" (a name suggested by the Who's Keith Moon) before the first album was released. Zeppelin actually did things the record industry hated. Jimmy paid out of his pocket to record Led Zep's first album before they even had a record contract. When they tried to get a record deal, all the studio needed to do was to put the album put on vinyl....the recording was done. So when negotiating the record deal, Jimmy was in control. In exchange for giving the studio a completed album, all Jimmy wanted was full creative control of the band. The band got to decide whether to release singles, not the studio. The band decided which songs were released, not the studio. The band created the branding and album designs, and had final say - not the studio. Pure genius. Because of Jimmy Page's brilliance, Led Zep was in complete control of what they did, and when. Studio heads and the record industry resented it, because it meant no one could control Led Zep.

Jojo’s still learning, he'll get there. He is engaged, however, and that is a big KUDOS. Now Van, watching YOU immersed in this song was a pleasure. Best one I have seen you do in a while. Thanks for the show!
They're a British band. Jimmy Page was the one that put everyone together. They can't be compared to a typical rock band, because they were one-of-a-kind. No other band can touch them. They were perfect chemistry!!!
I dont know how you can compare the 2. They are both great but Led Zepplin is a far more genius, artistic, deep, and talented chill band overall. GnR was just really great music to listen to in the 90s, upbeat, grimy. 💜❤💙💗
It’s great to watch someone experience a side of Zeppelin they aren’t familiar with and trip on it.. Blues, jazz, funk, soul, R&B, metal, rockabilly,.. they did it all and blended it like a fine and strong beverage. Thank u for sharing with us dudes..👍✌️
No contest, Led Zeppelin was a pioneer in 70’s rock for future generations. So many artists covered their songs. Their diversity in musical styles and their skills as musicians set them apart. Led Zeppelin are the GOATs. Congratulations JoJo! Love seeing you and your Dad together are so good together.
Led Zeppelin is an English progressive *rock* group who came together in 1968 after playing in other bands in the 60s. Page was a session musicians and member of The Yardbirds before forming Zeppelin. Plant had been singing in local bands for several years before he met Page. Page and Plant wanted to form their own band and picked established session musician Jones and Bonham, who had been drumming for several bands in the Birmingham area of England and knew Plant who recommended him to Page for their new band. There was no way they were "industry plants", it almost never worked that way in the 60s-70s. Progressive rock is experimental, highly skilled musicians who combine different genres, instruments, tempo, etc in new compositions and configurations. None of these groups sound like each other. Examples are The Beatles, Genesis, Yes, Emerson-Lake-and-Palmer, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Rush, etc. But *all* are considered part of rock. Zep emphasized blues-rock fusion along with more traditional rock elements in new, amazing compositions that showcased each band members’ exceptional talents.
He had stank face and he peeked into the rabbit hole of their genus. "One More Song" and he will feel like the rest of us. A "Whole Lot of Love" should tip him over the ledge. I'm 74 and grew up with this music and it will never get old. Thanks for passing this along to another generation.
Watchin' dad getting off to this awesome tune is fantastic! You get it.....this is music you feel and not just hear! You are feeling every note. The son is so right. They are completely different! No need to compare.
This SONG is different. Led Zeppelin is very versatile. Not saying that there weren't some songs by GNR that were also. November Rain as an example. Zeppelin's: Immigrant Song, Rock N Roll, and whole Lotta Love were very rock driven and Zeppelin blew these song to legendary heights. Sorry GNR is Byron Scott to Led Zeppelin's Michael Jordan.
The MSG live version of SIBLY (Since I've Been Loving You) demonstrates LZ in their heyday and shows why they were the hammer of the GODS. That is the best song of all time and done in a way that is still to this day GOD-like.
No it isn't, not even close. By the MSG performance on Song Remains the Same, Plant had damaged his voice. He doesn't come close to the performance he gives on this recording.
My favorite reaction to Led Zeppelin ever. I appreciate you my brothers. Led Zeppelin blows guns'n'roses completely out of the universe like they never existed. Led Zeppelin is the king of rock and everybody else is there minions. Now you have to react to Achilles Last Stand and also music from Physical Graffiti. I totally appreciate you my brothers until then stay well. Led Zeppelin set the standard for everybody else
Bruh... You have to let him listen to the whole song all the way through. You can't expect them to form an opinion when you pause it after 30 seconds. That being said, while I am a GNR fan they are not even in the same league as Zeppelin. To be honest no one is. Every song sounds completely different than the next. Their versatility is unmatched. Led Zeppelin is without a doubt the greatest rock and roll band of all time.
Having grown up in a white suburban neighborhood, I feel as if Led Zeppelin introduced an entire generation to the blues through their "rock" music 🎶 I was fortunate enough to have my Momma share the music of Billie Holiday with me, so I could appreciate the nuances. Thank you so much for sharing! 😽🎶
I love watching you guys just tune out at 11:30-11:45 close your eyes, forget what you were just back n forth about , forgot where you were and just start moving n bobbing your heads together as one! Thats what feeling the music is and thats what music is about ! Bringing people together in perfect harmony! Music has no race so “they” created genres” because managers and technology have blasted every face to every voice through all outlets. Then leaving the decision to the “Big Wigs” to stuff everyone into there “genre” no matter the bias or deliberate action for which the “Big Wig” wants artists in their little box!
This song is as beautiful as it is difficult. This song is thorough. One of the most talented songs worked from the first to the last note. This song is like a little dramatic story. And this song will remain for centuries. Let your son listen to the song "In the Lap of the Gods" Queen)
What up Van. Glad to see you've taken the Young brother under your wing and introduce him to the mighty Zeppelin and one of their many masterful compositions. So good to see how much you appreciate music at its highest level. As only led Zeppelin can do it.
Oh son....no comparing these two bands. Led Zeppelin is WAY better than GNR. LZ is incomparable!! The ROCK GOAT!! Led Zeppelin grew up on American Blues. You can certainly hear the influence! They grew up in England. They are a unique band. Tragic they didn’t put out more music. Love your reactions man. It’s great you’re introducing your son to LZ!!
There’s music listening and there’s music appreciation. For his age, your son definitely is appreciating music, based on his feedback and opinion. Much respect!
You guys are have a good dynamic together. It reminds me of when I discovered Zeppelin as a little kid around age 10 from my friends oldest brothers record collection. At first I loved all the straight ahead rock songs like The Ocean, Black Dog and Rock n' Roll. As I got older I started to appreciate the more nuanced tracks like No Quarter , In my time of Dy'ing, Since I've been loving you..etc..
Did Jo Jo just say GNR are alternative Rock? They're hard rock. I was a teen in 80s..Class of 90. Nirvana is alternative rock. Love you guys and the discussions.
Led 1 starts with Communication Breakdown…impossible to say they are just a blues band…they did whatever they needed to do…versatile is the word…first song I ever heard from them was Whole Lotta Love…in 1970. All their albums had at least 3 to 6 killer songs still with us today.
Awesome intergenerational reaction to the lords of Rock. Each of these members carry the lead with seeming ease when called on. For that they are widely and rightfully granted legendary status. And together you really need to watch the Live version from MSG 1973. It is arguably the best ever 'live' music presentation by any group.

Better yet sit through 27 minute long dazed and confused tell me they are not rock band lol. Stairway live epic epic tune , no quarter omg we can go on and on !!!
Dude teaches the young man a lesson. Love you all.
THEY ARE THE GODS. i was 15 years hearing this the first time. 62 now and still think its hauntingley beautiful
That was one of the best reactions I've ever seen. Dad was feeling every second of that. That even turned his son around. They are so talented they can do any genre of music and be on top of any style. True musicians with special chemistry that land them in the top 5 bands of all time.
LED Zeppelin set the ground work .guns and roses wouldn't be the band they are without Zeppelin. I thought he should watch the . live version of Madison square garden
He needs to see them on stage. Superstars.
Yeah, number one!
Jojo’s still learning, he'll get there. He is engaged, however, and that is a big KUDOS. Now Van, watching YOU immersed in this song was a pleasure. Best one I have seen you do in a while. Thanks for the show!
Led Zeppelin was so monumentally good. Gums and Noses was alright but these guys were deep talent Jojo. I have to agree with Pops on this one bro.
Gums and Noses. That made me laugh.
Runs ‘N Hoses
@@BBaldwin Lol. Any more? Bums and Poses.
Don’t forget the drummer. These guys were totally in sync. They understood the assignment. Their concerts were unbelievable. Take my word
You're good father teaching your son this music. Their generation hasn't created anything like this, maybe they will learn
Awesome. I love both gnr and zeppelin. Think if I was on an island and could only have one band to listen til the end of time… would be zeppelin..
THE BEST OF THIS IS THE QUIALTY FATHER AND SON TIME!!! MAD RESPECT!!!!
There is no one like Led Zeppelin. Nothing compares.
Greatest solo ever written , the guitar sings with smooth and fractured notes,
No contest, Led Zeppelin was a pioneer in 70’s rock for future generations. So many artists covered their songs. Their diversity in musical styles and their skills as musicians set them apart.
Led Zeppelin are the GOATs.
Congratulations JoJo! Love seeing you and your Dad together are so good together.
That guitar solo Jimmy Page did it in one take in the studio! GOAT!
Shoulda, coulda, dun the Live...
Give him something to watch...Rock Legends, Gods....
GNR couldn’t even hold a candle to Led Zeppelin. They are just the greatest rock n roll band of all time
Led Zeppelin is an English progressive *rock* group who came together in 1968 after playing in other bands in the 60s.
This is the most fun I've had in a long time watching a reaction video. Your passion for Zeppelin is contagious!
He’d be TONS more “impressed” watching it LIVE.
I love the pure joy on your face listening to the greatest! It makes me so happy to see younger people appreciating older music.
The live version in Madison Square Garden is by far the best of live performances from the great Led Zeppelin.
Live versions capture a more human and real experience
The MSG live version of SIBLY (Since I've Been Loving You) demonstrates LZ in their heyday and shows why they were the hammer of the GODS. That is the best song of all time and done in a way that is still to this day GOD-like.
AGREED!!!
Oh I much prefer this version . It blows many a band out of the water . Sorry , Journey . Yall are hacks
This is my favorite song of all time, nothing can top it for me! And yeah the live Madison Square Garden ‘73 version … just the best
Some could argue that this is Jimmy Page's best guitar solo. But Bonzo's drum fill at the end of this song is f'ing LEGENDARY. GOAT
ALL Jimmy Page's guitar solos are EPIC!!!
Black Sabbath
@@Dr.Atomic black sabbaths cool but they’re no Led Zeppelin, each opinion to their own though and I respect it
you can see the joy in your heart while you listen to this. I love it. makes me appreciate the song all over again. thanks fam
Billie was a talent.
Man, you made me cry. Love refeeling that song as it were the first time I heard it. Thanks 🤘
I love GNR but Zeppelin is by far the greatest
JoJo’s eyes when Robert Plant screams at 11:38 into the video!!! 😆😂
ok now i have to go and listen to this whole album after this, always been a Zep Head, Zep Head for life!
A lot of people don’t get zeppelin. They play with their honest emotion something most humans hide.
My favorite band of all time, by far. You should do “When the Levee Breaks”, “The Lemon Song” or John Bonham’s long drum solo on “Moby Dick” live!
The Wonton Song.
@@mikesimonian484 There’s way too many to choose from! 😀
The way that the rhythm section supports the melody within the groove and form it is absolutely Incredible!
Watching Van's reaction to this song brought me immense joy. It's like I got to hear it for the first time all over again😀
This song is as beautiful as it is difficult. This song is thorough. One of the most talented songs worked from the first to the last note. This song is like a little dramatic story. And this song will remain for centuries. Let your son listen to the song "In the Lap of the Gods" Queen)
It's so nice hearing the tempo slow down right at the beginning. You can tell Bonzo is listen hard to Jimmy and dropping into his groove.
What up Van. Glad to see you've taken the Young brother under your wing and introduce him to the mighty Zeppelin and one of their many masterful compositions. So good to see how much you appreciate music at its highest level. As only led Zeppelin can do it.
Should show him the Madison Square Gardens version of this from 1973
Oh son....no comparing these two bands.
Z E P .. still gives me chills ..I've seen them many times in concert
He's right, they cannot be compared and! LZ is definitely reaching the soul.
LZ reaches frequencies of the soul. They're hypnotic.
I saw Led Zeppelin in 1976. Waaaay before you were a tadpole! Greatest Band Ever. They play a variety of song!! Thanks for sharing.
