Elon Musk officially revealed NEW INSIDE SpaceX gigafactory that shocked NASA!
Elon Musk's SpaceX has astounded the world with its ability to produce a rocket engine within 24 hours, unmatched by anyone else for a long time.
However, things are about to get even crazier with SpaceX's new giant factory.
Let's find out in today's episode of Alpha Tech:
Elon Musk officially revealed NEW INSIDE SpaceX gigafactory that shocked NASA!What exactly has SpaceX just revealed new inside the Starship Gigafactory? And what is the real reason SpaceX built the Gigafactory that Elon Musk just revealed?
In recent times, we've heard a lot about the plans for Starship that Elon Musk revealed in his presentation to all SpaceX employees but has anyone noticed that to achieve all these goals, SpaceX needs a crucial element first?
Elon Musk officially revealed NEW INSIDE SpaceX gigafactory that shocked NASA!Yes, that's the construction of the Starfactory plant to mass-produce Starships. Although at this point the factory may not yet be ready to meet the ambitious production goals, it is laying the groundwork for a major revolution in Starship production speed in the near future, as Elon Musk recently stated in his latest speech.

For every starship there will also have to be a booster ! I take it the boosters will be assembled in the mega bays and the ships assembled in the star factory ! So its plausible we can see a rocket a day ! But only after all the upgrades are proven successful !

Star Factories will likely not only be in the USA. In fact, possibly not even on this planet. There are three other locations for factories, if they can get the supply chain worked out. 1. Orbit. 2. Moon. 3. Mars.

  • @sagecoach

Cargo Starships moons will not need to return as their material value is very high. They will have a dome nose and fuel tanks ready to bury as shelter and body segments like Gilbert Erector Sets for building anything. The same may be true for space missions to asteroids for mining. Robots included.
Lots to build in the factory.

Nice... but... be careful not to confuse square meters with square feet. The installation will not be millions of square meters. I recall Shotwell saying "one rocket every 3 days"... did not hear one per day. The goal set some time back was 100/year over 10 years.

With retooling a factory for different variants, I'm not sure 3 factories will be enough if SpaceX creates as many different types of Starship as has been imagined. Then again maybe the different variants will be similar enough to each other that won't be an issue. Things that make you go hmmm? 🤔🤔🤔

So, I asked the question.

It doesn't matter how big your factory is, or how often you change the engine designs. The only real criterion is how well the rockets perform. In the latest test, goal being to get many tons of fuel into orbit and transferred, it was a total failure. The rocket ran out of fuel before reaching orbit, it came down in an uncontrolled fashion, the door opening and closing test failed, and at least one engine burned up on re-entry. Failure in almost every way.Particularly worrying was the failure to reach orbit with the expected fuel surplus. That's the whole point of the refueling in orbit plans. It sure looks like the basic energy calculations are way off.

@@j.scottanderson4417 Elon just confirmed, they are not going to be able to get 100 tons of fuel to orbit. He says "50 tons" so going by his exaggeration factor of late, maybe 30 tons. So that would require like 50 launches to fuel up for the Mars trip, totally wack. If they could do one launch a week, a rate they've never been within a factor of 5 of doing, it would take a year to fuel up the Mars craft, actually much longer as oxygen and methane would be boiling off the whole time. And NASA only contracted to pay for 3 fuel runs, not 50. Totally nogo from every angle.

    Excellent!
Not how I'd do it, but its Elon's toy box..
    And it will work...
With fabrication and simplification Starship is off to the races..
And already leaving the competitors far behind.
I suspect the next test flight will be a watershed for Starship, begin the process of solving the re entry issues. Basically going over the hump, and once they get the data, V-2 will be adapted to the realities.
Strange part thinking about V-2, is though it will have problems, they will be getting fewer and fewer.
And Jeff will be whipping his saddle turtle in dismay, as Elon gobbles up market share, while Blue Origin has to turn the ship.... And go for the new heading trail blazed by SpaceX.
Other startups are watching and learning on the cheap.
And I think we will see a quickening of Space Endeavours in general...
Nothing like envy to motivate, In Space, the Joneses everyone tries to catch up with is SpaceX....
It'll be alot of fun! And likely morph alot more than most imagine right now.
My guess is Elon will have the first private Space Yacht... and the guest register be the notables of our time...
Cant wait to watch the pod cast style interviews from Elon's first Flagship...
Sure his kids will love the family vacations..

Poor Jeff! Rockets are his hobby.... And he learned to dance the Turtle from NASA! 🤣
He has a few plumber's nightmare engines, and Elon is filling ware houses, with ace stuff, and just getting started.
That Raptor 3 and following Raptor 4 are likely to be like a 3D printed version of a casting, and few add ons... Also stout as heck, as the passages everywhere will create structure. Will love looking at images to see if theres anything able to be improved? I doubt it, they reallly get the simplification thing, and its often about chains of realizations, each better than all preceeding.
      They have become simplification monsters.
Must be hard to watch for all those guys who down voted parts count as a concept! 🤣
I'm looking forward to the re entry on test flight 4.
See if they figured out a better way.
Best part is: production is gonna be waiting on success, and when they get a go, stuff is gonna happen.
They are gonna need a pretty good parking area for finished ships waiting to be tested... wont be a rocket garden, it will be more like a Silver Spruce tree farm...
And that production line will seem like an over sized bottle factory..
      "Here they come!"
Should be fun to see what the Nay Sayer's reactions are, when there are continuous launches just transferring new ships to other launch fields.
Its likely to be like clockwork...
I still see people trying to say its not viable. The flat Earthers of modern space craft. They'll be like the unvisited indigenous in the Amazon basin watching airliners, only it will be constant streams of starships crossing the sky, day and night. They'll dimly grok theres something going on.
And watch the numbers of humans off planet at any given time, go exponential. Early Astronauts will be considered like 1900's barn stormers are now.
      Something quaint and almost forgotten.

How can they produce a rocket engine that fast? The rocket cone is the hardest thing to fabricate as the electroplating takes time, even though they are talking about 3D printing them, which takes longer. I have the idea they aren't counting the cone fabrication in how many they can build in a day. Someone is editing the data to make it look better than it really is.
