  • In this video, I had the opportunity to chat with Dr. Safiya Lyn-Lassite about why she chose to become a Cannabis perscribing doctor, tips for those interested in doing the same, typical day in the life and tips for all!
    Dr. Lyn-Lassiter graduated with honors from Trinity University (DC) with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Science. She completed her medical training at Meharry Medical College in 2010 where she earned her medical degree (M.D.). She received her postgraduate emergency medicine training at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ, a Level I trauma center. Dr. Lyn-Lassiter has proudly served the South Florida community since 2013.
    To keep abreast of the latest developments in the medical field, Dr. Lyn-Lassiter maintains affiliations with The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), American Medical Association (AMA) and National Medical Association (NMA). As a testament to her success, Dr. Lyn-Lassiter was honored as the Physician of the Month at Memorial Hospital in February 2016. She works closely with the community to inform and educate people on evolving medical practices through engaging lectures and community-centered outreach programs.
    Dr. Lyn-Lassiter became involved in the field of Emergency Medicine after discovering how unpredictable and rewarding each patient interaction can be. Her specialties include Free Standing Emergency Department Administration, Graduate Medical Education and patient satisfaction. When she reflects on her medical training, her rotations in Nashville’s underserved community not only exposed her to the reality of health care inequity, but also this experience prepared her to engage a cross-section of patients with care and compassion.
    Dr. Lyn-Lassiter is currently pursuing a professional certification in Fitness & Nutrition. She enjoys traveling the world, attending music concerts and watching romantic comedies. Recently, she joined the interesting debate focusing on the effectiveness of medicinal marijuana (MMJ) use among Florida residents. As an advocate of MMJ, she created a user-friendly website (www.askdoctorlyn.com) to identify, evaluate and recommend MMJ for qualifying patients.
    Dr. Lyn-Lassiter is a proud parent to Myla, her eight-year-old daughter. Considering the future, Dr. Lyn-Lassiter hopes to continue flourishing in her career in the Emergency Department, exploring medical journalism, and advocating for MMJ patients nationwide.

    The point about not much (or any) business training in medical school is so true. I wish we were taught more since a lot of us will be involved in business to some degree over our careers.

    This was really interesting to see the different possibilities for Emergency Medicine physicians. I recently just discovered Wilderness Medicine as a potential fellowship and would LOVE to hear more about that field! :)

    Being legalized in Canada soon i hope it will help people addicted to pain meds and be used as alternative for those comfortable enough to try it! I believe it can be very beneficial in certain situations!

      It also helps me because Tylenol and a lot of medicines I need when I’m sick come in “pills” not liquid medicine and they don’t react well with me and usually make me feel more sick..... weed is awesome for that best medicine ever, I can even smoke it before I watch o boring movie lol

    I now work in an office that prescribes MM and find we have so many patients coming to us because they don't want to go back to the family doctor because of the side effects and how they have seen so many of their family members are addicted to the medication that is being given to them. It's crazy how many New patients day we are getting

    Hi Doctor Webb, I know this question isn't related to the video but for me personally i'm a very deep sleeper and i'm scared that in residency i will fall asleep for a few hours in the on call room. What can i do to wake up, or what would happen if i missed a page?

      Dylan Nie there are many medical conditions that can be causing this, too many to list here, go see a doctor

      @jameso 5 років тому

      Dylan Nie maybe you can set the alarm on your phone to go off every 20 minutes. Because then deep sleep would'nt have kicked in.

    This is legal in one state and not another. What about all other people in other states. It's a plant and all patients should be able to decide. Thank you for all your research! Washington made the right to try law. Spread for patients in all states. Blessings to you and your family ✝️🌷

    Good afternoon, It would be nice to know the caregivers for med hemp/cannabis will have at least have the 'people skills' that are required of a veterinary technician student.. RESPECT first, real quality Q&A session &requirement of treatment consent &satisfaction rider/survey at each visit/correspondence! &*When the plants are grown inside, they are NOT as potent or antural as outside or greenhouse grown. Why does no one address the quality issue.. &Assist/equip patients to grow their own. for self sufficiency, as mandate 'suggests'.. With Doc assist for testing patient grow samples, or provide test kit to monitor patient purity &levels, not invasive 'trespassing' of 'canna cops' . There is MUCH room for simple, cost effective transition! . We are looking for a sponsor or information on how to proceed w/PATIENT INITIATIVE, & YES we have taken much time to study the medical and the environmental benefits, etc. . AS a survivor of the opiate epidemic. The students are brilliant &want to think for themselves! #4and20Reasons =Twitter=M.Kowaski.

    Must be difficult being a physician that prescribes cannabis through our opiate problem in the U.S. There is a huge amount of misinformation regarding the topic and I am not quite sure about a lot of it either. Great interview Dr. Webb. Check out my weekly med school VLOGS if you have time! Aaron MSI
