It sounds like you didn't listen to what the man said. You don't just hand the patient a dimebag of weed and say "smoke up!" The entire purpose of his research is to figure out what specific compounds are curative, what the properties of those compounds are, and then to extract them, and make properly studied, properly dosed medication. FDA's good manufacturing processes (GMP) are specified for a reason. They're there to protect patient safety so you don't kill people with meningitis or other such stuff and so you're not selling a product that won't work. Now I'm all for keeping drug prices down, and I'm not a huge fan of many of the big pharma companies. They have done some things which deserve criticism, but right now, you know you can go to a pharmacy, pick up a prescription and know that the drug is safe and will do what is advertised. Big pharma brings that to you. It requires an enormous amount of money, time, and dedicated research. Would you risk $2.5 billion and 10 years to develop a new drug? That's what they have to do in order to "get rich off of it", and they should be able to make money from it or they would never take the risk at meeting the demands we place on medication. You'd be like the man trying to understand why the extracts for his wife worked one day and the next time didn't.

@Joe King If weed cured everything then my friend that smokes everyday wouldn't have a brain tumor right now. Anyway thc has been studied in depth already and Medical Scientists are against promoting because it depletes dopamine in the brain and can lead to chemical imbalances causing schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder and psychosis which deemed it ineffective as a "medicine". MRI scans show it dulls the prefrontal cortex, which is the area of the brain that controls goal setting decision making and more...ect..It causes many changes in the hippocampus and striatum...and thats _just_ THC, there are hundreds of other cannabinoids. Im not against pot, I used to smoke it. But stoners really act like viruses wanting to spread their weed habits on everyone else. Let people choose their own medicines and quit trying to convince the world to get high. TL;DR: Dont lie to yourself, you know you get stuck in "thought loops" and have paranoid thoughts on pot. Weed messes with peoples head too much for Doctors to just say yeah "smoke weed" its medicine. Further more, it's not like it takes several days of use, it can mess with your thoughts instantly.
that's why videos and people like this gentleman are important. The days of reefer madness are long gone and even Dr's that are honest and open minded are waking up
One variable that I rarely hear anyone mention is a big almost universal concern - soil science. When I travelled in Colombia’s tropical rainforest I was amazed at the integrity of the topsoil. Minor elements make a gigantic difference in the integrity of plant molecules. It also is very visible in the high quality of the plants. Holistic connections to the Earth are at the core of successful plant chemistry. Insects and soil fungi are the building blocks of this plants chemistry.
how cannabis plant makes its resinous glandular secretions ( cannabinoids) is based on the soil mica ( metallic oxides) . one of the reasons that those compounds are anti oxidants in our cells
He didn’t really mention about the fact that it doesn’t have negative side effects. After a recent surgery I was prescribed narcotics that didn’t help my pain at all and all they did was put me to sleep. The side effects I had after stopping them 10 days post surgery lasted several weeks, not to mention the awful effects it had on my already messed up GI system that took about a month to re-regulate. I have a family history of colon cancer from both of my parents’ sides of the family so I’m interested greatly in the strain that prevents that. The stigma and horrific things they said about cannabis starting in the 1930’s has caused such a bad mindset about it that I can’t share with either of my parents, aunts/uncles, or grandparents about the healing properties of cannabis. Thankful for people like this person who was willing to stand up and combat the lies with truth. Our world needs to realize WHY it was demonized in the first place and WHY the government is so resistant to legalizing it for medical use.
You may want to rethink the title of this talk. It makes it sound anti-cannabis. As I know people whom cannabis has helped tremendously, I almost didn’t watch it.
All I know is, cannabis has improved my life in countless ways. For one, during a rough period in my life 5 years ago, a doctor prescribed Lexipro and Xanax. I found living in Lexipro's emotional flatness bizarre and alarming. (I was also surprised by how many people want Xanax once they know you have a supply.) Cannabis, on the other hand, brought me peace, calm and even pleasure in trying times. It expanded my consciousness, helping me appreciate all the good in my life, while examining the roots of my trouble and resolving so much of it. Cannabis is a profoundly intuitive agent in the healing of all suffering.
I'm being deprived of this plant because I have a CDL and can't use it. We need a truckers strike like the one back in the 80's only not independent truckers every CDL driver in the nation take one day off to get their attention. And organize a mass paper letter writing campaign to flood the President with mail respectfully requesting him to remove cannabis from the federal laws and regulate it as alcohol, let them make money on tax but allow people use this plant as needed
I have several serious problems with pain and have gone through so many drugs and doctors for the last thirty years, nothing helped. I've become mostly bedridden without a life the last fifteen, recently a neighbor came over with a cbd joint to smoke with me.. I felt immediate results after two good puffs!! It is a miracle, I hope some day those of us suffering horribly will be free from the intrusive Government and Medical associations that really don't care about the suffering people endure.
@@quarteracreadventures855 Unfortunately, like all non FDA supplements, you don’t know if your getting Kratom or hedge trimmings. Not that I am against the use of these natural plant substances.
People should be allowed to grow use and sell this useful plant, interference from government in private affairs of this kind is criminal, overreach, and counterproductive.
No, DECRIMINALIZE it and give it rightfully back to the people of the earth who have used it since the beginning of civilization for various therapeutic, sacred, or social reasons throughout prohibitions. 😠 Making criminals out of citizens who choose to use this God given WEED! And NO it is not any more potent today. It is STRAIN specific and the citizens do not need any prohibitions put on particular strains either! A high THC percentage strain is a choice and one of the most healing cannabinoids in cannabis. ALSO, no need to censor out the feel good benefits of THC by using strains that increase the munchies in overdrive but do not include the appetite stimulant of enjoyment while doing so.
It is extremely complicated. Everyone wants to break it down to THC and CBD but its totally not that easy. The interaction between all these chemicals and your brain/body will take years of research. This is the kind of data super computers will be helping us to understand. Terpenes are playing a giant roll and no one gives them enough credit, some of them are known to cause apoptosis! And cannabis can be the easiest source to harvest these things in concentration. Getting Strain specific is the first route to 'controls' for comparison, but I'm here to tell you different inputs(light, heat/cold, nutrients, air/water quality etc) mean different outputs even with the same strain. That is part of why science is having a hard time. Its these chemicals in concert with eachother having an effect, and while humans have been great at understanding and determining how single chemicals interact with our bodies, we are almost clueless when it comes to combinations and their effects or potentials. This is the magic of cannabis, this is why those 500+ compounds matter. We will discover it is 4,5,6,7 things all together that create a symphony for relief. There are few, if any other plants so complex, basically little chemical factories for us to manipulate through breeding. And this is just the medical side of the plant. FOOD, FUEL, FIBER, MEDICINE (dyk Hemp Concrete even?)
Wow well done Tim you totally NAILED it here:) In the process of awaiting the arrival of my medical card I set about diligently studying all things medical cannabis and have since become obsessed or at the very least fascinated with the subject and this most sacred plant in general. I have Multiple health challenges including Fibromyalgia Syndrome which is so very painful. The only thing that helped me was a cannabis extract concentrate from an Indica strain with a high THC content. I was still living with health challenges but the pain was under control and I felt much happier (Not stoned!) in life. Then my government took this away and made it illegal. Then put forth so many ridiculous rules and paperwork that I simply cannot process. Then my doctor told me that it was understood and agreed that this was a beneficial medicine for me but that it was being strongly advised by higher ups that family doctors not sign the prescription papers required to make it legal for access to this drug with insufficient scientific research and proof of health benefit. Thank you for sharing your wonderful research knowledge and explanations 👍👍
We have to get to a point that we recognize each human’s right to put into their body what they wish regardless of whether or not it brings them only a pleasurable experience, acts as a placebo or actually cures their illls. Live and let live!

I am on kidney dialysis if you're doing the research on CBD and THC I referred back to my nephrologist .I asked him for his opinion he told me he is from Israel. Israel has been using the cannabis plant to cure cancer or 30 years however he was never allowed to speak about it asba license physician but now that it's legal here in Las Vegas Nevada he can now speak about it. He told me to run don't walk and by the oil today .He said that it is the world's best anti-inflammatory there is nothing effective as CBD and to put it under my tongue once a day or as many times as I need it you do not get high from it it has too many benefits to mention it has been a miracle worker for me to be able to cope what's a pain in my joints. I use use the CBD DURING DAY AND CBD WITH THC SAVE AT NIGHT. IT HELPS ME SLEEP BETTER AND IN THE MORNING I CAN GET OUT OF THE BED WITH NO PAIN

You could try a 1:1, 2:1, or higher CBD to THC ratio strain to modulate and moderate the high. Additional CBD may help even better for your seizures. However, most people who are in the know sat not to use the 0% THC, that you want some THC to help activate the CBD. However, you don't necessarily need high THC levels.

Warching The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper Weed 7: A Senior Moment Season 1, Episode 14 from Aug. 6, 2023 with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and a portion of this Tedx Talk was mentioned well enough for me to find it here. I learned tonight about Dr. Dedi Meiri. Now I am learning of Endogenous Cannabinoids. At age 62, it is an interesting subject. I have a back injury, neck pain, Trigeminal Neuralgia, kidney issues, severe muscle and nerve damage throughout my entire body, and all had gotten worse in the 6 months. I am on 8 different medications, muscle relaxers, Lyrica for the nerve endings, and all of it does so little to help. Life is nt bearable to try to get through a day without medications. Heard how this can allow the amount of medicine needed to be less or even eliminated. Lots of study for me to do.
Someone should get the nobel prize for this, and it should be the 5000 year old chinese doctor who discovered it, btw. I went from having seizures when i was young to not having them at all, just from " hanging out with the wrong crowd"
the man makes some extremely relevant points, that aren't usually discussed, and emphatically at that too - pointing out the wide variety of cannabis strains and the little we understand so far about their chemical compositions in being able to thus identify exactly which combinations of compounds help attenuate and protect from which specific illnesses and disesase, until unless the stigma suppressing cannabis usage is dissolved to explore this field further, many innocent people who could benefit from the treatment by this medicinal plant are unfortunately suffering needlessy because of the reservations of the brainwashed - the war on drugs has lost, it is time we pick up the pieces to start rebuilding the foundations for a free equitable usage of cannabis
The oil extracted from cannabis sativa (hemp) is completely legal across US. The THC-free CBD oil of hemp is not only effective in treating certain conditions, it is also not addicting and is not mind-altering.
It sounds like the benefits of cannabis might be directly related to its hundreds of compounds working synergistically. The scientific method would need to test each one individually, catalogue its effects on a large test group and move on to the next. But really we just want to smoke it for fun, it always works right for that and that is its main therapeutic benefit.
that is the pharma approach... to take one bio active out of a few hundred and claim it is the entire thing... severe lack, severely compromised signalling and our cells need to pull biological agents from other sources to even make the single compounds model signal efficiently ETC... this is exactly why we end up on 20 or more meds, to add more signalling molecules to the expression of single compound formulas and make them activate our anatomy more LOL....
cbd oil helps restore cognitive function in Alzheimer's, cbd with thc oil helps the chronic fear anxiety state in people with Alzheimer's. I was part of national research project and they were not interested in how I improved my cognition. My cardiologist however was really happy and said he has more patients every week helping themselves with cbd oil mixtures.
And they improved it through centuries of deliberate companion planting, making it richer in terpenes and even more beneficial. Unfortunately big pharma and their THC and CBD hypes did a lot of damage reducing the medicinal effect of most cannabis.

the High = an increase of intracellular ions via activating/ de-activating cannabinoid type one receptor in the central nervous system . THC for example inhibits acetylcholine which modulates ion influx and Glutumate somewhat... one disadvantage of creating to much cb1 signalling... a decrease in magnesium ( FAAH decrease) ... hydrolysis of arachidonic acid into a signalling metabolite uses up FAAH and MAGL... FAAH is the issue though in some people
I think what you meant to say was, you found your limit and you get nervous beyond that limit. I had a cousin who smoke marijuana and went hysterically blind, she wasn't actually blind she just convinced herself it was hurting her, we refer to that is paranoia.
I, too, have experienced the effects of long term cannabis use, as I have smoked it for 60 years, since I was introduced to it in Mexico City in 1960 while studying at Mexico City College. I am now 84 years old, and I have no major medical problems, and my current physician has found no evidence of this use from all my test reports. After doing my 'due diligence' I accepted the fact that cannabis is medicine, and has been used as such for hundreds of years, if not longer. You may reference that today by remembering Charlotte Figi, as Dedi Meiri does here. It is documented in the Anglo-Indian Report of 1895/96, as well as in the LaGuardia report of the 1930's in NYC. These two reports are noted for their lack of serious indictment of cannabis, thus the substance entered the pharmacology of the USA with it's inclusion in major publications such as the American Material Medica, Therapeutics and Pharmacognosy, 1919, as well as similar publications dating back to before 1900. It was just another medicine. Until what's his name showed up as head of the FBI in the 1930's. Singlehandedly he apparently turned the world against cannabis, he made it a demon, a killer ...... and the rest is history, and a very fascinating one at that. Peace........
I theorize that disease evolves via the same psycho-emotional pathways we call the cannabinoid system and the specific strains effective for specific diseases are like combination locks that can literally pull disease out backwards from the way it evolved. I don’t know of a single disease that isn’t accompanied by emotional suffering.
Our country is screwed up because of people with small minds. They then vote the same into office...not once, but again and again. Then they complain. That's a wrap.

why didn't they just look at the chemotypic content of the first cannabis that worked and then get which cultivars have a match. It seems like they unfortunately did not find out which cannabinoids and terpenes were present and this made their search inefficient but it's great news they found a chemovar with the same efficacy again :-)
Thank you for the intelligent speech. So many people think that you can use any kind of cannabis. I live in America where prescription drugs are tested and the dosage is always the same. That is all I ask of the people who want to use medical cannabis.
Yeah and that's the fallacy of the FDA and clinical trials. Everybody is different standardized treatments and prescriptions don't take that into account. While clinical research and trials are indeed important they are often biased and the pharmaceutical companies are adjusting results to suit their own agendas. There are many safe and effective treatments for cancer that could save thousands of lives and improve quality of life for thousands more that are available around the world but not here. And no I'm not talking about quack medicine or so called alternative treatments. When your number comes up and it likely will are you just gonna listen to your Dr and the recommendations of his golf buddy specialist? Or are you gonna do the research and see what options you have globally? Rest of the world has a thing called compassionate care when it comes to potentially life saving yet unapproved medicine readily available. Yes the fda does to, good luck with that your likely be dead if and when they would approve it. Your deluding yourself if you think that pharmaceutical companies have people's health as their best interest. Profit is their interest. Medicine, people's health, their lives should not be a for profit business. That's a direct conflict of interest. So is incarceration for profit but that's another debate.

Maybe not in the correct classification cuz if she can be classified at all but they're going to plus you know our government has a patent on cannabis or at least the compounds in cannabis why does our government have a patent on that?

Just watched this for my master's class. I applaud you!!
This is true ! I make RSO for my illness and it helps tremendously!
If you watch till the end he is very pro cannabis! But the right strain for certain maladies!
Yes it does
The title does sound anti Canibus
That’s why I clicked it though. I’m a cannabis nurse and I like to hear opposing opinions and concerns. Excellent talk!
What strains do you use that you find are a god replacement for Xanax?

People should be allowed to grow use and sell this useful plant, interference from government in private affairs of this kind is criminal, overreach, and counterproductive.
the criminals have been running the world for a long long time
Keep up research and legal worldwide NOW
just legalize it and allow us to plant it
There's no seeds in it anymore
It used to be mandatory to grow a hemp crop in the colonial days has lots of use
Well said

The only thing that helped me was a cannabis extract concentrate from an Indica strain with a high THC content. I was still living with health challenges but the pain was under control and I felt much happier (Not stoned!) in life. Then my government took this away and made it illegal. Then put forth so many ridiculous rules and paperwork that I simply cannot process. Then my doctor told me that it was understood and agreed that this was a beneficial medicine for me but that it was being strongly advised by higher ups that family doctors not sign the prescription papers required to make it legal for access to this drug with insufficient scientific research and proof of health benefit. he is from Israel. Israel has been using the cannabis plant to cure cancer or 30 years however he was never allowed to speak about it asba license physician but
now that it's legal here in Las Vegas Nevada he can now speak about it. @kcotte59 Prices are way too high for regular users. Those who need it can just grow it and not tell anyone. They are profiting off our diseases and not letting us treat our own illnesses. It's ridiculous and unconstitutional.
check into CBD distillate, no high and perhaps good for your epilepsy
Getting high is still better than a seizure. I dont have seizures and i love getting high. Fly baby fly lol

People aren’t listening to what this man has to say. Just hanging on to what they believe.
the man makes some extremely relevant points, that aren't usually discussed, and emphatically at that too - pointing out the wide variety of cannabis strains and the little we understand so far about their chemical compositions in being able to thus identify exactly which combinations of compounds help attenuate and protect from which specific illnesses and disesase, until unless the stigma suppressing cannabis usage is dissolved to explore this field further, many innocent people who could benefit from the treatment by this medicinal plant are unfortunately suffering needlessy because of the reservations of the brainwashed - the war on drugs has lost, it is time we pick up the pieces to start rebuilding the foundations for a free equitable usage of cannabis

"In my lab alone, I have more than 550 different strains of cannabis." Dude!
if you have strains on your plants that is a bad problem ... you do not want strains of bacteria on your plants

Medicine is a chemical that you take that improves the quality of life. If being high improves the quality of life, why isn't it medicinal?
the High = an increase of intracellular ions via activating/ de-activating cannabinoid type one receptor in the central nervous system .
