Started using in 4th grade 1970, and still use it today at 59 yrs old. I don't need permission, or research to know what works. And it hasn't hindered my life. I work in the technical field, running complex precision machinery. Have worked on medical devices, aircraft, and proton accelerators at MIT. Don't let laws or government tell you what's right for you.

Vodkarage the big difference is the classification of it as a drug, not food or simply a plant. If the drug companies can patent the compound it will be controlled and protected. If they can convince the government to classify it as a drug, they can control it and its market.

It sounds like you didn't listen to what the man said. You don't just hand the patient a dimebag of weed and say "smoke up!" The entire purpose of his research is to figure out what specific compounds are curative, what the properties of those compounds are, and then to extract them, and make properly studied, properly dosed medication. FDA's good manufacturing processes (GMP) are specified for a reason. They're there to protect patient safety so you don't kill people with meningitis or other such stuff and so you're not selling a product that won't work.
Now I'm all for keeping drug prices down, and I'm not a huge fan of many of the big pharma companies. They have done some things which deserve criticism, but right now, you know you can go to a pharmacy, pick up a prescription and know that the drug is safe and will do what is advertised. Big pharma brings that to you. It requires an enormous amount of money, time, and dedicated research. Would you risk $2.5 billion and 10 years to develop a new drug? That's what they have to do in order to "get rich off of it", and they should be able to make money from it or they would never take the risk at meeting the demands we place on medication. You'd be like the man trying to understand why the extracts for his wife worked one day and the next time didn't.

@Joe King If weed cured everything then my friend that smokes everyday wouldn't have a brain tumor right now.
Anyway thc has been studied in depth already and Medical Scientists are against promoting because it depletes dopamine in the brain and can lead to chemical imbalances causing schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder and psychosis which deemed it ineffective as a "medicine". MRI scans show it dulls the prefrontal cortex, which is the area of the brain that controls goal setting decision making and more...ect..It causes many changes in the hippocampus and striatum...and thats _just_ THC, there are hundreds of other cannabinoids. Im not against pot, I used to smoke it. But stoners really act like viruses wanting to spread their weed habits on everyone else. Let people choose their own medicines and quit trying to convince the world to get high.
TL;DR: Dont lie to yourself, you know you get stuck in "thought loops" and have paranoid thoughts on pot. Weed messes with peoples head too much for Doctors to just say yeah "smoke weed" its medicine. Further more, it's not like it takes several days of use, it can mess with your thoughts instantly.

One variable that I rarely hear anyone mention is a big almost universal concern - soil science. When I travelled in Colombia’s tropical rainforest I was amazed at the integrity of the topsoil. Minor elements make a gigantic difference in the integrity of plant molecules. It also is very visible in the high quality of the plants. Holistic connections to the Earth are at the core of successful plant chemistry. Insects and soil fungi are the building blocks of this plants chemistry.

He didn’t really mention about the fact that it doesn’t have negative side effects. After a recent surgery I was prescribed narcotics that didn’t help my pain at all and all they did was put me to sleep. The side effects I had after stopping them 10 days post surgery lasted several weeks, not to mention the awful effects it had on my already messed up GI system that took about a month to re-regulate. I have a family history of colon cancer from both of my parents’ sides of the family so I’m interested greatly in the strain that prevents that. The stigma and horrific things they said about cannabis starting in the 1930’s has caused such a bad mindset about it that I can’t share with either of my parents, aunts/uncles, or grandparents about the healing properties of cannabis. Thankful for people like this person who was willing to stand up and combat the lies with truth. Our world needs to realize WHY it was demonized in the first place and WHY the government is so resistant to legalizing it for medical use.

All I know is, cannabis has improved my life in countless ways. For one, during a rough period in my life 5 years ago, a doctor prescribed Lexipro and Xanax. I found living in Lexipro's emotional flatness bizarre and alarming. (I was also surprised by how many people want Xanax once they know you have a supply.) Cannabis, on the other hand, brought me peace, calm and even pleasure in trying times. It expanded my consciousness, helping me appreciate all the good in my life, while examining the roots of my trouble and resolving so much of it. Cannabis is a profoundly intuitive agent in the healing of all suffering.

And NO it is not any more potent today. It is STRAIN specific and the citizens do not need any prohibitions put on particular strains either! A high THC percentage strain is a choice and one of the most healing cannabinoids in cannabis. ALSO, no need to censor out the feel good benefits of THC by using strains that increase the munchies in overdrive but do not include the appetite stimulant of enjoyment while doing so.

It is extremely complicated. Everyone wants to break it down to THC and CBD but its totally not that easy. The interaction between all these chemicals and your brain/body will take years of research. This is the kind of data super computers will be helping us to understand. Terpenes are playing a giant roll and no one gives them enough credit, some of them are known to cause apoptosis! And cannabis can be the easiest source to harvest these things in concentration. Getting Strain specific is the first route to 'controls' for comparison, but I'm here to tell you different inputs(light, heat/cold, nutrients, air/water quality etc) mean different outputs even with the same strain. That is part of why science is having a hard time. Its these chemicals in concert with eachother having an effect, and while humans have been great at understanding and determining how single chemicals interact with our bodies, we are almost clueless when it comes to combinations and their effects or potentials. This is the magic of cannabis, this is why those 500+ compounds matter. We will discover it is 4,5,6,7 things all together that create a symphony for relief. There are few, if any other plants so complex, basically little chemical factories for us to manipulate through breeding. And this is just the medical side of the plant. FOOD, FUEL, FIBER, MEDICINE (dyk Hemp Concrete even?)

I am on kidney dialysis if you're doing
the research on CBD and THC I referred back to my nephrologist .I asked him for his opinion he told me
he is from Israel. Israel has been using the cannabis plant to cure cancer or 30 years however he was never allowed to speak about it asba license physician but
now that it's legal here in Las Vegas Nevada he can now speak about it. He told me to run don't walk and by the oil today .He said that it is the world's best anti-inflammatory there is nothing effective as CBD and to put it under my tongue once a day or as many times as I need it you do not get high from it it has too many benefits to mention it has been a miracle worker for me to be able to cope what's a pain in my joints. I use use the CBD DURING DAY AND CBD WITH THC SAVE AT NIGHT. IT HELPS ME SLEEP BETTER AND IN THE MORNING I CAN GET OUT OF THE BED WITH NO PAIN

You could try a 1:1, 2:1, or higher CBD to THC ratio strain to modulate and moderate the high. Additional CBD may help even better for your seizures. However, most people who are in the know sat not to use the 0% THC, that you want some THC to help activate the CBD. However, you don't necessarily need high THC levels.

I learned tonight about Dr. Dedi Meiri. Now I am learning of Endogenous Cannabinoids. At age 62, it is an interesting subject. I have a back injury, neck pain, Trigeminal Neuralgia, kidney issues, severe muscle and nerve damage throughout my entire body, and all had gotten worse in the 6 months. I am on 8 different medications, muscle relaxers, Lyrica for the nerve endings, and all of it does so little to help. Life is nt bearable to try to get through a day without medications. Heard how this can allow the amount of medicine needed to be less or even eliminated. Lots of study for me to do.

The scientific method would need to test each one individually, catalogue its effects on a large test group and move on to the next. But really we just want to smoke it for fun, it always works right for that and that is its main therapeutic benefit.

the High = an increase of intracellular ions via activating/ de-activating cannabinoid type one receptor in the central nervous system . THC for example inhibits acetylcholine which modulates ion influx and Glutumate somewhat... one disadvantage of creating to much cb1 signalling... a decrease in magnesium ( FAAH decrease) ... hydrolysis of arachidonic acid into a signalling metabolite uses up FAAH and MAGL... FAAH is the issue though in some people

I, too, have experienced the effects of long term cannabis use, as I have smoked it for 60 years, since I was introduced to it in Mexico City in 1960 while studying at Mexico City College. I am now 84 years old, and I have no major medical problems, and my current physician has found no evidence of this use from all my test reports. After doing my 'due diligence' I accepted the fact that cannabis is medicine, and has been used as such for hundreds of years, if not longer. You may reference that today by remembering Charlotte Figi, as Dedi Meiri does here.
It is documented in the Anglo-Indian Report of 1895/96, as well as in the LaGuardia report of the 1930's in NYC. These two reports are noted for their lack of serious indictment of cannabis, thus the substance entered the pharmacology of the USA with it's inclusion in major publications such as the American Material Medica, Therapeutics and Pharmacognosy, 1919, as well as similar publications dating back to before 1900. It was just another medicine.
Until what's his name showed up as head of the FBI in the 1930's. Singlehandedly he apparently turned the world against cannabis, he made it a demon, a killer ...... and the rest is history, and a very fascinating one at that.
    Peace........

Yeah and that's the fallacy of the FDA and clinical trials. Everybody is different standardized treatments and prescriptions don't take that into account. While clinical research and trials are indeed important they are often biased and the pharmaceutical companies are adjusting results to suit their own agendas. There are many safe and effective treatments for cancer that could save thousands of lives and improve quality of life for thousands more that are available around the world but not here. And no I'm not talking about quack medicine or so called alternative treatments. When your number comes up and it likely will are you just gonna listen to your Dr and the recommendations of his golf buddy specialist? Or are you gonna do the research and see what options you have globally? Rest of the world has a thing called compassionate care when it comes to potentially life saving yet unapproved medicine readily available. Yes the fda does to, good luck with that your likely be dead if and when they would approve it. Your deluding yourself if you think that pharmaceutical companies have people's health as their best interest. Profit is their interest. Medicine, people's health, their lives should not be a for profit business. That's a direct conflict of interest. So is incarceration for profit but that's another debate.
