In this video I remove paint from a thrift store table to reveal beautiful wood underneath.

I recognized the table, and then i looked at the older videos. I guess that means I'm a real fan.
Always a pleasure to watch.
Thanks for watching again! I made some changes to the video.
same here! but i had a good time rewatching it anyway.
Best $5 spent. You did a great job.
I'm not even into furniture, but damn this thing's wood is gorgeous! Reminds me of the really old church benches I saw at church as a kid. They too had gorgeous wood.
Always an inspiration!
Thank you!
I love those old little end tables. They're actually really functional today as charging stations. Fantastic work...
I really like how you talk us through the project, that's how we learn, thanks.
Okay, had a look through the comments... I THOUGHT I'd seen this one before! Doesn't matter, the "rerun" is still fun to watch. :)
Beautiful restoration! Another piece saved from the landfill!
My grandma had one of those! They're so pretty when they're taken care of ❤️
Love these old telephone tables, rarely find them now, you’d sit on the seat and the telephone sat on the higher table with the phone directory underneath. Memories.
This one can’t be sat upon. It’s too low and can’t handle the weight. It’s just an end table.
Holy crap. That table looks fantastic. Keep up the great work.
Cant go wrong with a nice bit of walnut.
Looks a hell of a lot better than it did with the paint, great job 👍👍👍👍👍
Happy Sunday!
Thank you.
I’m pretty sure my late grandmother had a pair of similar tables at the sides of her living room couch. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. Your restoration is beautiful. You have a very deft touch for painting details like the little dark stain.
She turned out GORGEOUS! Even better than I thought she would! Beautiful stain color as well!
Hi,
The table looks sharp. Really nice job. And a hell of a bargain at $5.00. I find it fascinating and fun to watch when you bring out your paints to mask/blend away marks and stains.
Thanks
I enjoyed seeing you work on this in the first video, and enjoyed this version too. It really came up well, and so much better than when you found it.
Coming from someone who has had one in their family for over 40 years, those rings are almost definitely black coffee rings. Ours sat between my mom and dad's recliners, and between my dad's mom's recliners as well. It's where my folks and my dad's folks drank their coffee every morning. My dad eventually did what you've done here to ours and it turned out so beautiful. I really do love a solid, old piece of functional furniture ❤
What a transformation for a $5 table! And great tips - ones I'll likely use for the stubborn paint in the grain of the project I'm working on. Thank you for sharing!
Definitely a diamond in hiding. Looks like it was painted to fit into a specific furniture style. Beautiful rework and return to former glory. Thanks for sharing.
Seems like it was painted to go in a child's bedroom / playroom? I kind of like the paint, but what a waste to put it over a nice walnut piece.
Absolutely lovely! My family had two walnut mid-century step-tables; a side step-table (similar to yours) and a square corner step-table when I was growing up. I remember them well and fondly. In fact, I wish I still had them, except due to their size, they took up a fair amount of room in the small living room we had. You've done a great job!
Great video! I just stripped a mid-century hallway bench and posted a video. Love giving old furniture new lifw 🙏🏻
One word…WOW.😮😊
beautiful, mid century is my favorite I have several pieces from my parents that they bought in the 50's
My mother had to end tables like that which were her pride and joy. Great job returning them to a usable and attractive state.
The finished product looks amazing.
Those "step" end tables were hugely popular during the mid-20th century, and I'm surprised that they never made a large-scale comeback. Aside from the overall popularity of midcentury design, the tables themselves were extremely practical (the upper surface was for a lamp, and that freed the lower surface for drinks, books, magazines, and other household items). My grandparents had a set of them from the 1950s (with a matching coffee table) that were teak, with beautiful glass insert that would look great today in a mid-century style living room.
That table is beautiful. Reminds me of those that were in my grandparent's house when I was a little kid. Fantastic job!
Gorgeous piece!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. ❤
$5 never looked so good!
Love this style table. It looks so much better with paint removed
Loved this. I know you’ve done pieces like this before in the past, but they turn out just so darn pretty.
I love how the shots are framed at the end on the cracked concrete. All those diagonal lines together are pretty.
From that hideous paint job to a classic beauty. As always, nicely done!
This is one of my favorite pieces. It was great to watch the video again. 🤩🤩🤩
I feel bad for the poor little girl who’s parents took this table to goodwill though lol
@@pavloszimbrakos4410she’s probably a parent now herself lol
@@still_your_zelda true but that’s why you save it for your kids to give your grandkids lol
Aw Dash it's beautiful. What a great job as always. It's always a pleasure when you upload. Thank you for sharing.
It looks so nice now!
Another great success including the price tag! Thank you
Gorgeous wood table. Good job
Very pretty !
Gorgeous!
Turned out really nice for only 5.00 bucks!
Just found you. That little table turned out beautifully, your patience work really paid off!
My parents and grandparents had a set of these two tiered tables. Ah, flashbacks. Yours is definitely a much better look than the faux wood grain that was on ours.
That is an elegant upgrade from the paint. It looks lovely.
Beautiful!
Well worth the $5 you shelled out for it. It turned out beautifully and looks better than a factory finish. I think the thing I don't like about typical MCM furniture is that the manufacturers seem to use a lot of toners to make the different timbers look the same. This inevitably obscures the grain and, in my personal opinion, can make the furniture look bland. Whenever people like you, Angie, Barry, etc, refinish this type of furniture, you usually end up bringing out the grain rather than covering it, resulting in some really beautiful and more interesting pieces.
Yes! It’s almost like wood paint, if you get me. I like the grain!
Speech.
You do such great work! I also find your voice over so relaxing!
Great job as usual...Glad to see the grass is finally green and not covered in snow...lol
Beautiful! I feel like I've seen this one!
I’m so glad you took a chance on this piece - it turned out beautifully! That’s exactly the type of piece I wanted in my living room, but ended up settling for a slightly older, but still nice, piece with a leather top. I did have a family piece (same style) that was blonde….. I do like light furniture, but the blonde was just too artificially light for my tastes.
A good looking Midcentury step table. One of the classics. Well worth $5.00 with a lot of Dashner’s love. Carol from California
Pretty but the yellow and blue paint made it cute too.
I'll never understand why some people with paint over beautiful wood!!!
It looks beautiful and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Didn't you think the painting was really rather pretty, though? It had reached the end of its painted life, perhaps, but the painted table too had given a family pleasure. And now the table goes on to a new phase in its life.
I hope your partner enjoys your voice as much as we all do
Beautiful
So beautiful!!!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing
Turned out great! Really love the finish
WAW!! As usual. Nicely done.
So cute. Loving that 1950s look
Perfect 🎉
Very nice!!
Wow! You sure have some eagle eyed loyal subscribers!
Very nice sir good job see you soon with another project 😊
That is a stunner.
Excellent work always.💗
This is a really cool and unique piece. Thank you for sharing this. ❤
Thanks for watching.
Gorgeous!! I love that wood color and grain!
Beautiful job, well done.
Lovely. Fantastic job!
that's a beautiful $5.00 walnut table. 😉 thanks for including us in your restoration.
You outdid yourself on this one. Looks great, especially considering the low price you paid. Value added and a nice piece of furniture saved.
Beautiful save! I really really like how you speak at a nice, “slowish,” even, and very easy to follow pace. Even non instructable video hosts often speak at such a rapid pace, I have to slow the speed to half, just to *try* to absorb what’s being said. Five stars!
You’re the true 🐐 of wood working my ninja!!! The greatest of all time!!!!!!
Pretty graining...great job❤❤❤❤
What a coincidence you have found and refinished the exact same table with the same decorations 2 years apart
I think you did an awesome job. I love the stain you chose as well. It does bring out the grain in the wood. Perfect job. I use to own a couple of these night stands but didn’t look anything like this…
What a difference! What a fabulous job you did!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Love the piece
Beautiful. Thanks for the video!
A great transformation!
Beautiful work!
Very well done ...simplistic beauty
Wow. Your attention to detail is great. What a difference. 😍
Absolutely beautiful restoration! ❤😊thanks for these videos.
Excellent work!
Love your work and your faithfulness to the original design.
Such a nice result, top work as usual, well done.
Absolutely gorgeous job! Your color matching is on point 😊
Beautiful job.
This looks amazing. Love it! I think the "gently worn" look is my favorite with older pieces. Why would I want it to look like I just bought a "vintage style" table at Target or Wayfair? I want people to know that this is a vintage piece, especially if I'm the one who did the work to make it look nice again. 😅
Reminds me of the old tables where the house phone was placed.
And I think that stain is probably the mark of a cigarette left unattended .
The butterflies were the clue to something hiding under the paint .
Quite a transformation, it’s beautiful!
Really lovely ! ❤
wow beautiful!
Super little table David. Excellent job as always. I'd be happy to have it in my home.
I really admire your work. the way you care about the wood is wonderful and the detail you put into every piece without giving up is perfect. You are my type of person. Congratulations.
Beautiful work!!
that is an amazing transformation...love it.
