      It is based on fish oil. WD stands for Water displacement, so it will not cause or allow rust at all. It pushes water out of the spaces it occupies. It is a great product if used for what it was designed for. Like you, I would not use it in this application, but not for your stated reason. It is just that there are so many other products that do a better job for something like this.
      The 50/50 ATF/acetone mix is a wonderful thing to have around in a few quart bottles. It is very handy and is a hellacious corrosion cracker, better even than the mighty Kroil, which also is amazing stuff. (Best thing you can do for a budding mechanic is introduce him to PB B'laster, and then when he starts to actually use it, turn him onto either Kroil or ATF/acetone. If you start with Kroil they will balk due to the price and how hard it can be to find, sometimes. If you start with the home-brew they will balk because they don't want to mix it up. PB B'laster will get them to see the benefits of using a good penetrating oil. Once they are sold the efforts to get or mix the two better oils becomes acceptable to them.
      Great video. Thanks for posting it. I just wanted to chime in on the WD-40 thing. It is great to see that you made the correction. Still, I just *had* to stick my nose in here. Sorry! -- Wade

    If you live in an area with cold winters, so you can get 25F or below, pouring the mixture inside the cylinder when the car sat outside may work some better. Because of the cold, the piston will shrink and hopefully the rings will dislodge a little enough to let the fluid into it's groove.

      @@NitroGuyJH mavel has always seemed like cutting oil and atf to me. Which is what I use and great results too. • @NitroGuyJH
      @NitroGuyJH 4 роки тому +1

      herewegofans I know he is making the attempt and that’s always a positive for sure. But in my experience with just plain mystery oil and or plain acetone I’ve never gotten any good results. I’ve freed up engines that were stuck real bad from sitting many years with marvel mystery oil soaking and just about every time if rust was the reason it was seized up it would smoke badly cause it was burning a ton of oil because the cylinder walls and piston was so badly scarred up from the rust.

    • @herewegofans
      @herewegofans 4 роки тому +1

      @@NitroGuyJH I'm certainly am not discounting your knowledge here. I've been real lucky myself majority came through no issue after. I'm not shop and I set clean oil in pistons before long term storage so that helps two. But time or two needed to dope pistons with the snake oils to get things moving. Cutting oil being so fine is normal go to. Then atf if need to clean. I always move by hand both directions, and clean oil before attempting start. I throw supertech oils in when fixing and rotella when in service. But again, not better than next guy, only trying to keep em going.

    • @NitroGuyJH
      @NitroGuyJH 4 роки тому

      herewegofans that’s the way to go. I say everyone should always put clean oil in each cylinder prior to long term storage. It helps a tremendous amount, I usually take an empty spray bottle and put a mixture of 3 parts engine oil and 1 part diesel fuel and mix thoroughly to spray every inch of the outside to help keep rust at very minimum. Works extremely well here in salt country lol. A couple of my mechanic friends use the desiccant method and it works for them really well too, they wrap the engine or put the metal parts in a heavy plastic bag and throw a couple baby diapers or use a couple of those big packages of silica gel beads in the bag with it. Definitely works if you don’t want to clean up an oily engine after a year or so lol

    Interesting you bring up WD40. I have '09 2.4L camry w/ almost 350,000 miles. It began burning oil real bad after 200k (likely due to faulty stuck rings that I was over the mileage to get recall repair for). The only thing I found that fixed the oil burning was shooting a can of WD40 into the intake manifold while it idled once every 2 or 3 weeks for 2 months. It slowly starts up again perhaps 50k later, but then I just inject another can of WD40 and it's fine again.

    • @Clueless2daWorld
      @Clueless2daWorld 5 років тому +1

      WES . with mileage as high as that I would kind of disagree with rings being stuck..You probably would not have enough compression to even run the thing at all,due to wear and clearances of both THE pistons(actually their rings) and cylinders...It is my 2 cents worth of really strong opinion that your problem is much more likely to be deposits of carbon within cylind. and fuel gunk over intake valves...Easiest way to prevent that is using higher octane fuel and driving reasonably but aggresively(with rpms over 4k and away from but closely to redline) for few minutes 2-3 times a week. Highway entry ramps are ideal place for it,IE. You can BANK ON those TWO cents.

    The head is off our yanmar diesel. I feel we have an issue with one cylinder rings sticking. Should I just pour mixture into cylinders with the head off? I go see I can see if the mixture leaks down as well. Should we do all 4 cylinders or just the problem one. We ended with too muchdiesel in crankcase, whitish smoke and ultimately a runwaya(managed to stop it in 30 sec) I think it was due to diesel leaking down through piston 2 and rest out the exhaust. Had the inj3ctors fully rebuilt. Still some smoke and blowby

The belt and pulleys were all rotating and I got a red blinking " stop! Low oil pressure light refer to owners manual " also codes for multiple misfires. I changed plugs and coils and new battery and it would just keep trying to turn but wouldn’t start so I sent it to my friends shop and his mechanic said the engine was seized and they couldn’t turn it by hand so I had it towed to the VW dealership and they said going by the previous mechanics notes! That the engine was seized and they couldn’t get it to budge and that I needed a engine ( from the junkyard) and it would cost me 6,500 dollars to install it! So I’m on here looking for a way to unseize it! Oh yeah they said the timing chain must’ve stretched and jumped outta gear!?!

    I'm trying to replace my brake rotors but one of them is seized on there. I've tried PB Blaster and beating it with a hammer but it won't budge, and I've also tried heating it. Do you have any other recommendations?

    • @timcondren72
      @timcondren72 7 років тому +1

      Travis Grover, place the lug nuts on the studs so you don't damage them and beat it with good size hammer or sledge. You have to hit it like you mean it. Make sure the shoes are retracted all the way.

    • @waiting4aliens
      @waiting4aliens 6 років тому

      Rarely do rotors have shoes. Some rotors have a threaded hole or two in them that will allow you to remove them with a bolt or two. You can rent a 3 armed puller, or remove the hub and rotor assy, and have a shop press it off

    How could a multiple piston engine run with one piston seized with un-seizing even being an option?
    There should be serious damage. Cam shaft/lobe damage. Rod and/or valve damage. Something.
    Since the other pistons are functioning and all.
    Aren't they linked together in some fashion?
    Am I wrong?
    It kind of sounds like this car was having a valve seal issue which would cause fuel to improperly ignite, or fail to ignite which would cause the lower temperature discovered.
    Genuine question. Not trying to be rude or dumb.

      If the rings are seized in the piston you lose compression and if you loose compression you won't have ignition. Without ignition no heat from that cylinder. Easy.

    Thanks for posting this. I have a Toyota T100 with 3.4L v6 that sat for 3yrs. It was running when parked but now it has ZERO compression on all cylinders. Someone recommended me put a 1/4 qrt of ATF in all cylinders and let it soak because we think all the rings are stuck. The acetone/atf mixture sounds even more affective. I asked the person who recommended this to me, " why automatic transmission fluid" ....the answer I got made sense, atf has a lot more detergents than just marvel mystery oil and other oils that I have used in the past to do similar. So, you recommended a week? I had already tried soak marvel mystery oil in cylinders for 2-3 days with no luck. Before I do this, can you recommend anything else ? I desperately want to get this engine to where it will fire up again. Someone suggested using a very soft metal or plastic punch to tap on top of pistons to help free up the rings, to vibrate the pistons enough to let the rings spring open??? I am unsure about doing that. I mean, I would never pound on the piston but I do understand that a little jar or vibration could help unseize the rings but definitely don't want to bust or crack a piston either. It's the weirdest sound I have ever heard ( an engine with no compression). It sounds basically the same turning over with the plugs in or out, just a sound that I will recognize from here on out...lol. If you don't mind, let me know about the time to leave this mixture in the cylinders and anything else you may think of to help me with this issue. I really can't afford another engine right now and do have plenty of mechanical experience.....just never had an engine that after sitting has no compression at all. A first for me and need all the help I can get. Thanks

      MAURICE HILL BARBER EXTRADANAIRE you make it 50/50 buy acetone at lowes 20 a gal and a gallon of atf but you have to shake the shit out of it for it to work. the acetone is somewhat like a carrier it brings in the atf and evaporates so it needs to be well incorporated
