"Did you get a sunstroke, dear? What are you talking about?" Astarion attempts to discreetly look over his shoulder, but it's evident from his exaggerated, somehow unconvincing grimace that he's trying too hard to appear intimidating. His eyes nearly squint with the effort. You catch his lips moving just slightly, whispering to someone, "Guys, please! Be more careful!" Or should that be to some-one-two?

Sadly it's kind of killed my enjoyment of his character, I personally began liking Gale a lot more as I went in thinking, 'I only see Astarion so ig I gotta like him.' just to meet Gale and become infatuated. And frankly, I'm kind of mad that Astarion has so much to him, it really took away from other characters like Wyll (WHO ONLY HAS 8 HOURS OF CONTENT APPARENTLY, COMPARED TO ASTARION WH OHAS 12.)
The same thing, I love him with all my soul, to the point that I want to scream! I am so sorry that none of my friends played BG3 and I have no one to pour out my soul about my love. This game is driving me crazy, but I'm so happy about it.❤❤

The best part about this song is how it applies perfectly to both Astarion and the Dark Urge, redemption arc specifically. In my head, it's their love theme.
@@kittyfootsies Aww... the more I think about it and read comments, the more I feel it's for the Dark Urge and not specifically Astarion. BUT I think it plays at his tent because they have a close relationship from the very early access of the game and he has the most dialog about DU... so makes sense.... DU to be in the back of his mind/behind him...🗡🍷🖤
Astarion may be the poster child, but honestly Neil is also truly the most passionate about this project specifically. It always feels like he was so deeply intimately connected to this development of this game and character. Him and his writer are buds now haha
You can definitely see the passion in Neil when he explains and when he talks about the game... we could also see it in their dnd campaign that they did... he is an awesome Astarion!
I mean, it’s a simple melody and I *technically* know how to reprogram a mechanical movement… 🤔 It’s just a matter of finding a preexisting mechanism in the right key.
@@GreebleClownjust use some music box mechanisms with paper tape with holes. There is a lot of different tunes for that mechanism. Try Grand Illusions 30 firstly.
@@GreebleClownthere are three ways I can think of: 1) There are pre-existing 30-ish paper sheet music box, where you hole punch your own sheet. 2) There are « play any music » electronic music box (physical action, but the drum can take any shape). 3) You could make your own drum, but are there any tutorials on that?

This game is one of the precious gems which allows to have beautiful stuff hidden to find or not. In many other AAA titles you are just force-steered to explore every bit of content, because they have so little.
I love this song. As if this game didn't have me in a vice grip already, they go and throw in absolutely hauntingly beautiful music. I've always been easily moved by music.
So true! The music is amazing! I listen to it on a daily basis while I do chores during the day and I can't play. The Astarion song always grips my heart and wants me to hug him to death! 😊⭐🖤
The person who wrote Astarion’s character and romance is the same one who wrote Fane’s if I’m correct. Which makes so much sense, since Fane is 100% the best character is DOS:2.
In some moments I would prefer the Raphael's song. It's just so so good! This one is so so good for different reasons and hits different feels, but they are definitely on the same level! Great soundtrack from Borislav Slavov! 🖤
It is to me as well, no matter what people said. It seems that the song was written 3 years ago for him, but eventually they have added it as a main "theme song" and I guess now they are not allowed to say it's his specifically, and they need to say it's a general song from the soundtrack 🤪
I mean, looking at the lyrics, it's hard to argue otherwise. He's the ONLY character they fit too, not just that, but they fit *perfectly*, too litteraly for it to be an accident.
Yeeesss! Literally without an exception , on every new playthough I make, I find something new, even tho I thought I know everything by now with 480+ hours in the game lol
YEEES! Very sad. I'm not even sure if this is specifically a song for Astarion, but the fast that it's hidden behind his tent and the talks about blood and necks makes me feel that it's for him. 🖤

omg its true. I wondered what triggered this song once in the very beginning of my first playthrough. couldnt found it out. in the beginning I packed some barrels etc on that rock for different storage. now it makes sense! thank you! btw this is totally Astarions song. no doubt.
I remember triggering this song just before Act 3. You can hear it by going up to the stone ledge overlooking the city. My morally gray player character was in conflict trying to decide what she wanted for her future and this was also the first time I asked Astarion what the relationship meant to him, with him asking if you're not a victim, what in the world could you be? Which really fit for the backstory I had in my mind for her. Anyways, I'm nearing the end of the game and she decided that all she wants to do is live a safe peaceful life. Which will probably be spent in the underdark helping Astarion from keeping the vampire spawn from committing mass murder, lmao.
I love it as well so so much! Thank you for being here and commenting! Appreciate the support! After all we all love those beautiful pale pixels and want more content related to Astarion ! 🌹🖤
Not only that. In his interview with Dan he explained how they wrote it with the writer of the lyrics, that he gave her instructions and then received the lyrics, made the music and was like "heck it, i will sing it myself" and then in my interview with the female vocal - ilona, She explained that when they recruited her, this was her first task/audition to sing a female part in that song and she did and they released the song with her audition, or with her very first try of the song. It's quite a story this song. For me it mostly fits the Dark Urge, but then Astarion and Dark urge have the closest connection, so there are references to both. You can try and fit all the characters, and you probably would... maybe you can fit someone's real life in... I can fit in some of the lines myself... So yes, it is old and back then it was known as the secret Astarion song, so I left it like that , so the people can know it's that song. I suppose eventually I will change the title to just "A secret song on a cliff" 😅🔥
@@resonatinglo It definetly fits Astarion and Durge a lot!!! I think if you imagine Durge as the "true" Tav then the song fits SO much! I read too that quite a few people thought of it as Karlach's song which is interesting!
@@CallMeW00F For me DUrge IS the true Tav. I think this was the original intent of the game - all companions and we play as DUrge... and then from all the feedback in Early access they change it to a DU to be chosen and regular Tav for the players. But that's why the game fits Durge so much, because that was the original Tav... Of course the song was meant for the player's character, so it stayed as a main theme, but it was not written for ANY Tav... As for Karlach, I just could not see it... Skin cold as death and blood like wine, just don't fit Karlach at all 🤪🔥🍷
@@resonatinglo I 1000% agree on Durge being the intended backstory for Tavs before becoming an "origin" character!! And right!? I can't see it at all but apparently enough people thought so for the composer to recognize it in the tweet addressing the song! (along with recognizing Astarion as the suspected owner of the "theme" lol)
@@CallMeW00F Yep and still they ask the composer in every interview - "Is this really not Astarion's song" ... "Like are you sure it's not his, mr Composer..." When I was doing the interviews with the two female vocals of the game, soo many people left a question for me to ask - "Is I want to live Astarion's song" like, ask the lady who sings it... she might know better than the composer...
I had this song start playing at the Tiefling party, after finally triggering into the first romance dialog with Astarion. I thought it was just related to locking onto a romance. Lovely track, too.
For clarification about this song, since a lot of folks are trying to ascribe it to Astarion himself, this song also plays if you go to the overlook of Baldur's Gate during the Act 3 prologue camp. The composer himself has said on twitter that it's not about a specific character, but more about the Avatar/Whoever is being played. It's intended to be about the player!
There's the theory tho - The story is a bit different. Astarion, Shadoheart and the Dark Urge were the first characters written... maybe Lae'zel is also close... but originally Tav(we) were supposed to be just a Dark Urge, kinda forced to play that story and have urges throughout the game... SO this song was written back then like 4 years ago... this song is for the Dark Urge more and Astarion a bit less, but he goes in very well as well. I just didn't know that back when I made the video and we are just rolling with it. But it's should be for the "player" who was supposed to be a Dark Urge... I know, a bit of a trip down the lane...
He only said the song was "for you, the player" because people were asking him if it was about their favorite companion. He said he wanted it to comfort everyone throughout their journey. But the song was confirmed to be written about Astarion's story years ago. Astarion's actor posted about it and the composer responded. To me saying it was "for you, the player" is just a diplomatic answer so no one is disappointed if they initially liked the song because they associated it with a specific character. But beyond it already being confirmed to be about Astarion before people started arguing about it the lyrics don't really leave room for doubt when they talk about drinking someone's blood like wine lol.
True, true. But act 3 was added with release where this was there from early access 3 years ago and it took people a lot of time to find it. It was requested as an easter egg from the music director and composer of the soundtrack to be put there. You can hear it in act 3 and in the credits if you listen for that long. But here it's hidden 🤭
This gives me so much validation for all the times i reloaded my quick saves over and over again to make sure i got the piano instrumental version of this song in camp scenes with astarion

It reminds me of Divinity's music, their other game that came before BG3. I absolutely loved Divinity: Original Sin II. A lot of the extra content you get from the digital delux edition is actually from their previous game. All 3 extra bard songs are from Divinity, the "Rivellon paintings" are of characters from Divinity, their world was called Rivellon, and the Shapeshifters mask is a mask that the character Fane wears. Fane might as well be the main character of that game. Had the same sass as Astarion too, a tragic story, but more know-it-all. I wish more people knew about Divinity, it deserves as much praise as BG3.
I love DOS2 as well, played it for many years, many playthroughs. I love Fane, he was my favourite. Even one campaign as did as Fane from his point of view! Love Malady (which is the Narrator in BG3) , love the kraken fight, love the ancient eternal in the catacombs that called us rotting things 😅. DOS2 is one of my fav games. That's why I knew I will like BG3, because it should have the same feel. Now that I have played it, I can say it's a bit different and the two games are very distinct from one another. As for the music, YES! I also knew that Borislav Slavov made the DOS2 OST, I love the main menu music, I have done Lohse's song a cover as a bard... just so so cool! It's nice to meet another person who knows about Divinity as well! Thank you!
So after my 5th playthrough and now is 6th, i never knew about this, wish I could hear it sooner at the beginning. Thank you so much for this, it was a beautiful song ❤️ P/s: it suits for Astarion as well 😂
Haha, happens! Thank you! It suits Dark urge, Astarion and most of the stories if you turn the lyrics a bit. It's a good song for sure. Now every time you are in act 1, you can go up the cliff to listen to it
It's so rare to have attention to detail in videogames today. Baldur's gate 3 is not just a game, its a passion, a world with no stone left unturned by the creators. A true masterpiece we should be gratful to have experienced in this lifetime. Thank you Larian Studios and everyone involved
The scene is good, yes. I even had Lae'zel do it when I was recording the bite all companions scene... the rest are like ... meh... and then he bites Lae'zel and she just staked him...
This reminded me I keep wanting to match characters in my fandoms to Kimmo Blom and Annica Milán's "Good Enough", and the lyrics of that song fit Astarion surprisingly well. The chorus, just sayin'... _We all believe we're stronger_ _If we hold it in a little longer_ _Trying to hide behind a lie_ _Keeping everything locked inside_ _When only silence haunts you_ _And no one really understands you_ _Pick yourself right back up_ _You're better than just good enough_
Nice, good one. I find many songs fit... i think it's because his story is something we can relate to much more than any other character... and those chains, lies, master can be metaphorical for many things that happen in our lives... the things we keep inside, hide from, the things that cage us... 🌹

That statement is both correct and incorrect at the same time. There is only one other spot where the song plays and it's the first camp in act 3 next to the tower we climb in the cinematic, on the cliff next to the bush. No where else in the game you can hear the song with lyrics like that. The original idea was to have only one spot as an easter egg - this one behind Astarion and it was like that until close to release. For the release of the game they have added a second spot to dilute the talk that this is Astarion only song, so they have added it at one more place that is more likely for the people to go and hear it.
The song with the lyrics also pops up when you look over the cliff in camp when you reach Act 3. This is the night right when you first get that really big camp and before you see what the Prism really is.
it does but it's not so well hidden. This one was put there from early access by request of the composer and music director Borislav Slavov. The one in act 3 was very late for the party a few years later on release.
The final credits song is called "The Power". This one is "I want to live". But yes, it's my favourite as well from all the lyrical songs of the soundtrack! Giving us a deep and sad story... with some hope at the end...
BTW you can also find this song by standing on the outlook over Baldur’s Gate in the first camp your party is at in Act 3. It’s quite a beautiful sight to overlook the city while listening to the track!
Yep. That's why I left it down in the description as the only other location you can find the song. It was only suposed to be act 1, but much much later they added the act 3 one also, right for release
We have 20 camps through out the game. So technically , NO 😁 . It ONLY plays in this camp act 1 with the cliff and act 3 in the beginning with the cliff. The link is in the description. But from all the camps we have, it's not in every camp, or even in every other camp. It's just those two locations. And there's a reason for that, but I will tell you about it some other time 😇
Same, one of my fave as well... It was the first one I heard and I was mesmerised and gutted and crying and heartbroken and wanted to play the game so so bad, but waited until full release and then looked for the person who wants to drink blood like wine and has skin cold as death... I think I found him... 🍷🗡🌹🤭
You can also find a spot like this at the very beginning of Act 3! When you're in the ruined fortress overlooking Baldur's Gate, step out through the broken wall to the cliff that has a great view of the city. This song will also play there.

I want a music box playing the melody. That would be the coolest merch.

I can’t get over how incredible Old Time Battles is.
The person who wrote Astarion’s character and romance is the same one who wrote Fane’s if I’m correct. Which makes so much sense, since Fane is 100% the best character is DOS:2.
Fane is the main character of DoS2 like Durge is the main character of BG3, love them both
That honestly makes complete sense. Fane is also an undead... who was *also* imprisoned in a tomb.
Good lord, between this and the House of Hope fight song, I wonder how many other hidden songs are in this game?
In some moments I would prefer the Raphael's song. It's just so so good! This one is so so good for different reasons and hits different feels, but they are definitely on the same level! Great soundtrack from Borislav Slavov! 🖤
And people say I Want to Live isn't Astarion's theme. It is to me, even if not official.
It is to me as well, no matter what people said. It seems that the song was written 3 years ago for him, but eventually they have added it as a main "theme song" and I guess now they are not allowed to say it's his specifically, and they need to say it's a general song from the soundtrack 🤪
Exactly! It was originally composed for him, it is his. No arguments.
I mean, looking at the lyrics, it's hard to argue otherwise. He's the ONLY character they fit too, not just that, but they fit *perfectly*, too litteraly for it to be an accident.
@@Kanikanihia The lyrics still feel explicitly tailor made for him, but apparently it's Tav's theme, some say the entire party's theme. Huh???

Fucking. Amazing. I love it.
Right. I was shocked and amazed as well. And of course tried to find the song in all of the other campsites we have... to no avail. 🔥🌹🖤
😁😁🖤🖤
the song is amazing, thanks a lot for sharing this!
I love it as well so so much!
Thank you for being here and commenting! Appreciate the support! After all we all love those beautiful pale pixels and want more content related to Astarion ! 🌹🖤
now listening to this lyrics no one can change my mind - it's Astarion + Durge romance song. lyrics just fit perfectly
Right, It was originally written for Durge anyway and Astarion is just as close to durge as can 🌹🍷
So ik this video is quite old now but!! if no one has said it: this is actually Tav's song!
It's been confirmed by the composer over on his twitter
"Like are you sure it's not his, mr Composer..."
When I was doing the interviews with the two female vocals of the game, soo many people left a question for me to ask - "Is I want to live Astarion's song" like, ask the lady who sings it... she might know better than the composer...
I recently sang the song when I felt really sad. I knew it was his song. But I never knew you can do this in the game and listen to it. Thank you 🖤
Much love! 🖤
I had this song start playing at the Tiefling party, after finally triggering into the first romance dialog with Astarion. I thought it was just related to locking onto a romance. Lovely track, too.
Yep. It is all over the game indeed, but without the lyrics. 😊
I think every major camp location has a spot that triggers this, always somewhere most people wouldn't go
I tried... I tried for most of the camps in act 1, but could not find any other
For clarification about this song, since a lot of folks are trying to ascribe it to Astarion himself, this song also plays if you go to the overlook of Baldur's Gate during the Act 3 prologue camp.
You can find this song at an observation point in the camp at the beginning of Act III, before you meet the emperor in combat!

Wash my pain away is my favourite, closely followed by Old Time Battles. So emotional, so evocative.
It is brilliant writing... the words seem simple but the whole concept is much much deeper
Thank you!

This reminded me I keep wanting to match characters in my fandoms to Kimmo Blom and Annica Milán's "Good Enough", and the lyrics of that song fit Astarion surprisingly well. The chorus, just sayin'...
_We all believe we're stronger_
_If we hold it in a little longer_
_Trying to hide behind a lie_
_Keeping everything locked inside_
_When only silence haunts you_
_And no one really understands you_
_Pick yourself right back up_
_You're better than just good enough_
Nice, good one.
I find many songs fit... i think it's because his story is something we can relate to much more than any other character... and those chains, lies, master can be metaphorical for many things that happen in our lives... the things we keep inside, hide from, the things that cage us...

Dont think its specifically an astarion thing because It also plays in the camp area between acts 2 and 3 l. If you go to the cliff overlooking rivington, behind the portal that spawns to the astral plane you can listen to it in full.
True, the composer said it is Tav's song, but he requested it to be put behind Astarion's tent for the players to find it
Oh I love it! Spotify playlist, in you go.
Indeed. I have most of the soundtrack in my spotify list 😊
When the song first started I was thinking "uhh, that song plays All the time at camp." and then the singing started and I was like "ooohhh..."
I am happy to show it. It's an easter egg that the composer asked them to put there behind Astarion 🖤
Give this poor man a hug right now 😭
Give him! He deserves one so much! Even not one, but one hundred! 😞
Oh the camp plays this for me regardless of where I'm standing
You mean with lyrics and all? with the female vocal too? in camp? next to Withers? Impossible... or a bug...
This song also plays on the northernmost point in the camp just before reaching the City.
Thank you. Yep. My video for it is in the description as well 😋😁😇
Wow, it sounds so beautiful 🥺 I wonder if I should continue listening to it or wait until I encounter the moment mentioned in comments during my playthrough
I think I'll try to wait for the moment in my playthrough, so I can experience and savor it to make it a true memorable gaming moment.
Thank you, I'll try not to forget it exists ❤️
🖤Happy to help. You can always listen to the song with the link in the description 😊
@@resonatinglo I reached that campsite (Act 3) yesterday and what can I say? It was so beautifully done - I almost cried. When I heard female voice accompany male one I imagined Karlach singing along with Astarion, pleading for life, for that a chance at "normal" one just appeared on the horizon for her. I almost bursted in tears, especially given what endings are available for her at the moment 😭💔
Thank you ❤️ Without your video I wouldn't have found that magical and wonderful Easter Egg.
@@ВладиславБулаев-л3э You are welcome. So did you see my other video for the second spot that is in act 3? Happy to help. I love the music and I love all the characters in the freaking game... just amazing!
@@resonatinglo I love everything about it too! No, I don't think I saw your second video, I just saw comments under THIS video. Had to look for it for some time, but I found it! It was so worth it...
@@ВладиславБулаев-л3э I'm glad! Next time check in my repertoire of vids , I might have exactly what you need 😊
There is more spots, in other camps that also trigger that song. Usually some kind of overlooking spots with a nice view.
The same secret music cue happens in the first Act III campsite on a cliff edge next to the tower overlooking Baldur's Gate.
Thank you, Yep. I have my video for it in the description 😅😇
I was literally just seeing where I could go in the camp when I found this easter egg
It's a lovely easter egg... i wish they had added a few more...
This song just makes me feel so much I absolutely love it so much
Now I know that the composer requested this to be there. Makes me so happy too 🖤
Almost all their stories are about being controlled by someone or something. Its a good song.
It is good... you can relate it to most, different lines fit more than others. But in general, yes... Tav and all... want to live
I want to live is such a pretty song, haunting
I agree... one of the better ones in the ost... and emotional as well
My favorite song from the soundtrack. This song in the final credits had me crying 😭
The final credits song is called "The Power". This one is "I want to live". But yes, it's my favourite as well from all the lyrical songs of the soundtrack! Giving us a deep and sad story... with some hope at the end...
I didn't realize that i had done something specific to trigger this song.
Did you find it yourself going on the rock? Nice
Aparently theres a spot in everycamp that plays this
I just found it in the begining of act 3's camp
We have 20 camps through out the game. So technically , NO 😁 . It ONLY plays in this camp act 1 with the cliff and act 3 in the beginning with the cliff. The link is in the description. But from all the camps we have, it's not in every camp, or even in every other camp. It's just those two locations. And there's a reason for that, but I will tell you about it some other time 😇
One of the fave songs from the soundtrack
Same, one of my fave as well... It was the first one I heard and I was mesmerised and gutted and crying and heartbroken and wanted to play the game so so bad, but waited until full release and then looked for the person who wants to drink blood like wine and has skin cold as death... I think I found him... 🍷🗡🌹🤭
You can also find a spot like this at the very beginning of Act 3! When you're in the ruined fortress overlooking Baldur's Gate, step out through the broken wall to the cliff that has a great view of the city. This song will also play there.
Thank you and Yep. It's in the description and I have the second place in a video as well! 😅😊
