For those of us in North America (US/Canada anyway), the 2500HD short bed is the entry level into the HD pickup truck market. We have a long bed version available, plus the 3500HD in either single rear wheel (short and long bed) or dual rear wheel (long bed). The current tow king in the heavy duty pickup market is the Ford F450 that has one configuration rated to tow up to 40,000 lbs/18,150kg. The F350 tops out at 8,000lbs/3,630kg of payload.
You were just frothing in the tour bro, that was awesome to see! Good on ya mate! Interesting to see the staff at wilkinshaw factory - not the aussie bogan /westie you'd expect but a very diverse group of smiling faces
Congratulations what an incredible remanufactured HD! You can tell they did it right. Who knew so much work had to go in to turn it into a right hand drive. Can't wait to see the swap out of the tray and canopy.
Thanks for that top episode on the new truck have been looking at all off of them getting put together and watching them drive around that yard at night when I am working next door to it Thanks for the look around inside can not wait to see what you do to the new one all the best for Christmas and new year Chris and Miriam
Awesome insight into what goes into making these awesome trucks. Thank you. Also since you've gone the truck spec has Miriam got or getting her truck license to drive Chris home from the pub? Enjoy it guys. What an awesome machine. Can't wait to follow this build.
Went to the original factory a few years back when we purchased our Camaro and 1500. Awesome set up they have!! Just a shame they have to go to all this effort and $$$ to make them RHD..... But we love the chevs.
Awesome vid guys and very educational! A new 2500hd Liz is A$100k drive away in the US a bit different to here -- all those mods with 350 parts! Llewellyn are tops for Slilverado and Toyota - best service and customer attention ever! Shout out to Bryn and Ramsey! Great haircut bloke - but still the sunnies on the head 🫣
Do you order a new truck from here in the states then gets shipped to GMSV to have everything swapped over and do you order the truck without the bed since you're going to have a canopy installed? Awesome build.
Great insight into the reman process. It would be bloody interesting to work out what the actual vehicle costs without the affect of the dollar conversion factor from US to AUS and then the additional cost to convert from LHD to RHD. Awsum bit of gear though 👍
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown Yes I see the affect of dollar conversion factor on a daily basis with our US manufactured Heavy Trucks. It’s a shame really because these vehicles are what people should be using to tow, the dollar conversion rate and then the reman expense would be the biggest contributing factors that put buying one of these out of reach of most Aussies that are already stretching the budget to the extreme to purchase Cruisers or Patrol…..A Duramax 6.6 running a 10 speed Allison bloody unbeatable 🤙
Sure is! But, money-wise it wasn’t much more expensive for us to get our first Chevy than to chop a 200 which is what we almost did … it costs a fortune to do that as well 🤪
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown you got that right. And then it is still a Cruiser, And don't for get the Engine tune, Intercooler, tranny cooler, auto lockup kit, all to try and get it to be a 1/4 the tug the 2500s are. I considered a chopped 200, but costs 2nd hand were mostly more than the same age and kms 2500HD. No comparison.
As Always, excellent Vid. Makes you want to go work in the factory....Hang on, Nah Melbourne weather, is an issue. Look forward to seeing you out there in 2023 . Webby
Very interesting 🧐. Do they send any of the unused left hand drive parts back to the US to be reused. Also they lady sales rep at the start said 100 k warranty not 100,000 k warranty 😂😂
Great vid and thanks for all the info. Our dealer in Hobart knew nothing about them so ended up ordering from Melbourne. So many questions Does it have keyless start? And when you put a canopy on it do you expect to be able to keep all 15 cameras? Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼 Oh bummer…congrats on your order! Do you have a delivery date? Yes they do have keyless entry and start. All the factory cameras will be relocated onto the canopy. Can’t be without them 🙌🏼
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown awesome thanks for that. may 23 is the eta hopefully it doesn’t push out. We ordered in march. We are getting our canopy from a crowd called AMLS Chameleon.
As much as I love my Silverado (and I’ll have another one too😂) it is pretty disgusting that we bring a brand new vehicle into the country and throw half of it in the bin to replace it with more brand new parts.
GM could might as well start producing RHD variants of the Silverado & Tahoe in U.S. from start . . . just like they build LHD trucks for the American market . . . better than a post build conversion . . . if GM full size pickup trucks are to succeed in foreign markets they've to build the RHD variants themselves, at their U.S. factory simultaneously as they build LHD variants of their trucks . . .
Yeah ripper video! How much we talking for one of these? I’d love one just to be able to have the van on and the dirt bike in the tray! Was the fella in the workshop really tall or?? 😛
For a car over 130K as soon as its off the boat its pulled apart re done and put back together again...why dont they just build them from factory RHD I dunno after seeing all this knowing my BRAND new car is pulled apart completely in a 1000 pieces.... I dunno about U guys but I thought about buying one but seeing all this while very professional...just knowing in the back of my mind it was in a 1000 bits Im sorry I just cant do it .....U must admit it would always play on the back of ur mind
Never plays on our mind. It’s actually been said that the remanufactured vehicles can be better quality than when they come out of the factory in the US. Don’t forget it was in pieces before they put it together in the US as well 😉
How stupid is it that we make the Aussies pay extra to undo our engineering and pay an extra 50K to convert our trucks to RHD; seriously, they are our strongest allies and right arm in Asia against China, GM just add a RHD production line for the rest of the world vehicles and honor their commitment to the USA in Asia. That woman is really annoying btw.

Excellent insight to what actually goes into the RHD conversion. Always wanted a RAM, but not anymore. Was only looking the other day for a 2nd hand 2500. I doubt it would be as tech as the new ones. I think I will need another 100k subs...(@we.tour.oz) .... before I can afford one.......or put off retirement for 20 years instead of 15.....lol..... Black is bloody beautiful...... Lol @ your misso's back seat activities......exactly what I was thinking....hahaha......

Two questions in the video your truck is wearing NHV plates and in other videos personalized plates on the truck. How is this possible?
Great insight into the manufacturing from a couple of deadset legends. Thanks for the video Chris and Miriam. 🤟🏼

Mind blowing indeed. There is such an enormous amount of work involved to change to right hand drive.
No wonder they are so expensive.

No, you need to order the complete truck from your closest GMSV dealer then build it externally.
