@jjulch I bought that guitar about 20 years ago from a mate. It's an '86 USA Strat that I changed just about everything on. Locking tuners, graphtec nut/saddles, Seymour D pups, and a vintage style trem. It was originally surf green, so I had it refinished & a new scratch plate made about 10 years ago. I love it!!
This pedal can absolutely do metal if you have the right guitar. Doesn’t get past hard rock with my strat but with my 7 string with active p-ups it gets brutal! I’ll try to do a review soon.
Man can't say enough about these two affordable pedals. Purchased them both , and for Blues and classic rock tone , you can't go wrong. Sounds great through both my Fender and Bugera tube amps , and paid $100 for the pair !!! Can't go wrong if you're thinking about getting them if this kind of music is your niche.
I have the OCD and the Mojo Mojo overdrive. The OCD is a great standalone higher gain overdrive. I run the OCD at 18 volts as well. The mojo adds some good general overdrive but it is not really a solo overdrive. IMO of course. Also the mojo and the dark matter, both of which I have, stack really well together. Hope that helps.
Just played a mojomojo v ts9 in a muisc shop using a strat through a deluxe reverb The mojo complimented the amp and the ts9 was weak. For half the buck I'm going mojo
@@giovannigalbiati5717 i have both pedals. i play through a marshall jvm 210 combo and i dont even use the overdrive channels on it anymore. i just play through the clean chanel with the pedals and the crunch is just amazing. highly recommend both pedals.
A lot of people don't like the Mojomojo. I can understand why, it is on the muddy side of overdrive but I love mine. The idea of cramming as much bass into an overdrive kind of defeats the purpose of using the overdrive to cut through the mix in a band situation. Just thank anything that you can turn the stacked bass off but it does have it's use. With a lot of single coil guitars for example a telecaster, soloing high up on the neck sounds thin, with the bass stack on it sounds more natural.
The MojoMojo is not a transparent pedal by any means IMHO. I’ve owned one for 5 years...it has a TON of low end in it. So much in fact it’s almost unusable for how I play. Very good for the price, though.
really liking the sound you're getting. very fat. i think i could solo all day with that Mojo Mojo. and that Drop D riff that the Capt. was playing was pretty cool, too.
Is the dark matter worth getting? And would it sound good through a cheepish LP style guitar and a Marshall MG15? I want a distortion pedal that I can get a good metal sound out of, but can't afford really expensive gear and can really afford something in the price range of the dark matter (£40-£50)
Brad Patterson the Dark Matter is a really good distortion, but is not good for heavy. The gain of the Dark Matter is soft, more for rock or hard rock. If you are looking for a heavy sound, this pedal is not for you
The only thing I don't like about TC is that because they remove the mids, palm muting on any string(I play punk) all you get is the bass frequencies and it sounds messy. Then again what would you expect for paying £35 for a distortion pedal
If you think about it just roll off the bass and treble and adjust the volume. It's a pseudo way of giving you a more mid heavy sound. They probably do that to cut pedal size and cost as well. Since they don't have to put another potentiometer in the pedal that way.
I like to thank Lee and Tore for this demo I now have the Flashback Dark Matter and the Mojo Mojo :-)

I have the Dark Matter, MojoMojo, Hall of Fame, and Flashback. Such an awesome combo!

Quite natural sounding pedals, shame I missed this one! ;-)
Rob Chapman Shame :(
Which did you prefer anyway?
Holy shit that's Tore? Man he looked different back then
Now he's Pedal Jesus! xD
Holy shit right?
King's X Black The Sky! Very cool.
This amplifier goes together like butter with these 8 petals 👍

Gotta say the recording quality on this vid is the best yet!
Really enjoyed all your videos regarding the new TC TonePrint pedals. Very informative, good stuff. Cheers!

Late to the party but I think that is a really good sounding distortion! And relatively inexpensive for being a TC pedal!
Yeah, the Dark Matter is surprisingly natural. You can get one for like, $30 used. It's crazy good, and not just for the money. :)
Yep, I just scored the mojo and dark matter on craigslist $60 for both like new in the boxes! Deals are still out there👍
I was like, what?! How old is this video? Then I heard the guy on the right speak and realised it wasn't chappers!
The MojoMojo is excellent!
@dannymarx123 Yup - it'll work with anything. Not sure why your Satchurator doesn't sound great though - it should work fine too.
King's X on 07.28. Love it!
watching this in 2020 yo!!!
2021 here xD
Couldn't decide between the two...got both ;)
As u had, or maybe still have, both of them, could you please tell me how they work togheter?

I like Thore. I saw his other videos. Nice dude, nice playing. Nice playing Lee!
Nice pedals too. Much nice things haha. Missed Chappers though.
They sound great put together.

@jackwontknow1 Chappers couldn't make that day so I was flying solo!!
Sounds nice! Good job Stick!
Awesome sounds!!
Thanks for this review
Very nice demo!!!
i have the Dark Matter i love it
Me too
Dab Meister is It good for heavy modern sounds too or only for that classic distortion?
I just got it and damn! I ditched all other OD pedals.. Works awesome as a booster! good bye tube screamer :)
It’s like a rat is it not ?
That strat ... why dont they make an andertons signature strat :P, loving it
do you reckon the mojomojo in in the same batting park as ocd overdrive and the bb preamp
At first I thought it was Chappers with a new haircut!
Tore.. So different 😎
The MojoMojo is not a transparent pedal by any means IMHO. I’ve owned one for 5 years...it has a TON of low end in it. So much in fact it’s almost unusable for how I play. Very good for the price, though.
Dat danish accent is real!! xD

@helloman221 It's "nothing" by a band called A
should of kept it surf green! I love that colour

How would the mojomojo work with a high gain amp can it do a tubescreamer deal?
What do you call the finish on that Les Paul? It's beautiful!
I may be wrong, but I think it's a honey burst
can the Dark Matter handle downtuned guitars and play metal? the Rottweiler is too fizzy for me, but the Dark Matter doesn't seem to have enough gain.
@TheMetalHeaD256 The song is A - Nothing
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JO, JO JO.
Is that a T-Rex Juicy Lucy power supply under the pedal board?
are any drop tuning available for the PolyTune yet?
£109 when this video came out, but now you can find the dark matter on Amazon for around £50 😂😂
£30 currently if anyone is interested lol
Does anybody know if 8:48 is from a song or something?
What's the story behind the HSH strat Captain?
Dang tore looks like Russell brand now !
@underdog7676 Nice one! Cheers :)
@EricClaptonFan24 (Tore, not Thore)

Might help to get an EQ stomp box (MXR or BOSS if you have the money) and boost mids, but keep it after distortion in the chain.

Whats a fairly decent cheap reverb pedal ??
@kingstumble ME TOO haha.
Anyone know the riff at 8:50? Heard it before, driving me nuts!
It's "Nothing" by "A", a band who gave little thought to internet age searches.
Q_Q, where's me Chapper ?
Mojo mojo and dark matter 109 pounds back in 2011? Wtf
i want the darth vader ..uhm...sorry dark mater
Chappers looks not so fat this video.
If these make metal style pedals, might be tempted cause i have a metal zone and i think it sounds like arse now, just sounds horrible imo
8:56 song name?
"Nothing" by the band "A"
Tube amp? your a brit! call it a valve amp ffs :)
*you're
Come on just say that dark matter is an OCD xD
