    Holy crap! The history of previous owners of this car is amazing!

    Ghibli's designer was Giorgetto Giugiaro, for Ghia coachwork;
    Daytona's designer was Leonardo Fioravanti, for Pininfarina.
    In any case, two masterpieces.

    Very nice vid. Following a two year search I bought a '72 SS (4.9 coupe) back in 2002 and restored it over ten years, and sold at auction in 2015. The first owner of my car was "Universal Studios Burbank". I remember twenty+ years ago seeing a Sinatra Ghibli being for sale for a while, and being in pretty rough shape. It was generally thought the ownership provenance did not justify the high cost for that example in the shape it was in (they are super expensive to restore - hand made tubular unibody) but parts were available through MIE. Nice to see it restored. Also, fellow rat-packer Sammy Davis had a fly yellow Ghibli 4.7 with an automatic. Many celebs at that time had Ghibli's, including Peter Sellers, George Harrison, Richard & Karen Carpenter, Henry Ford II, Wilt Chamberlain, Elvis Presley, to name a few.

    The personal ride of "The Chairman of the Board." I'm not surprised he drove a classy vehicle like that. The guy was 100% class himself. Excellent presentation as always Colleen. Can you tell us where this was filmed?

    Just a comment on reliability, I have an 1986 Maserati QPIII with the 4.9L V8 and it has been bullet proof. The 4.2, 4.7 and 4.9L motors have always been very reliable and anyone that tells you otherwise hasn't owned them or didn't care for them properly. Maserati won races by finishing! Keep that in mind. Anyone that bashed them inquire which model they owned, and that usually shuts them up pretty quickly. The N/A V8s were very reliable and powerful cars. That's been my experience. The biggest problem I have had is with mechanics.

    Do you mean the 'famous' GT40? Wiki: "infamous" -
    well known for some bad quality or deed. eg "an infamous war criminal". Although Enzo might have regarded the GT40 as infamous, we look at it as a triumph of Ford money and English expertise.

  • @Coolbeans1492

    The ghiblis engine was larger and heavier than the daytonas.. what made the steering light was the power assistance that the daytona never had but the gtc did. Maseratis were more expensive than ferraris back then for a rzn. They made more luxurious cars that were really made for long distances not race cars on the street. Youll notice these are not small on rail handling sports cars.. these are long low wide track cars that are quite large bc these were made to blast through an open road and not a small tight mountain pass. Handling on these is vague and its either a fast 2 lane road with long sweeping bends or highways. By comparison a daytona is a track refugee forced to live on the street.

    Wow , 1970 Maserati accelerates like a 2019 Hyundai Gt N line with a 1.6t . I wonder if the quoted 0-60 is partially because of garbage 60s 70s crappy / thin tires from factory and with modern wheels and tires if it would get to 60 closer to 5 seconds . Many big block muscle cars ran 0-60 at a similar quote being so traction limited . 0-60 I under 7 seconds is just on the threshold of feeling powerful and " fast" even if not like a Tesla or something from Sweeden with a Ghost logo on it .

      Ferraris Online I'm a glad to hear that. Suction cup mic holders work for record exhaust with damaging the car. Gaffer tape also work with it leaving residue on the paint.

    • @YOLOnyc
      @YOLOnyc 4 роки тому

      @@bngr_bngr I would never apply gaffers tape to a classic car, painters tape from a high quality brand like Scotch or FrogTape is much safer for the car's finish.

    • @bngr_bngr
      @bngr_bngr 4 роки тому

      ✔️ YOLO NYC by Eric David (watch my channel!) gaffer tape doesn't leave a residue. You must be thinking of duck tape. Painter tape dry if left on to long would never secure a rig with paint tape.
