Roland-Garros 2022: from 16 May to 5 June. - Спорт
Zverev was so good in this match. With all the (very well-deserved) hype around Alcaraz, Sascha was extremely clutch in the big moments when the crowd were backing his opponent. He deserved the win.
Yup, surprising but impressive performance. Zverev mentioned beforehand that he felt snubbed because Alcaraz got to play on main courts more often, despite being 19. He really wanted to win and prove himself. And he did!
@@myheartspits I was thinking after that interview that Zverev risked looking like a moron after making those comments if Alcaraz had gone and smoked him 😂 but fair play to him, he won with a degree of comfort.
Not sure where I stand on the point he made about scheduling though. On one hand, no one can be surprised about Alcaraz being scheduled on Phillipe Chatrier multiple times, but I know Alcaraz has made comments on his preference over which time of day he wants to play? Did that have something to do with Zverev’s comments? I don’t know the full story.
I thought Alcaraz was going to win his 14th Roland Garros title 😭
Wonderful Zverev was so good in the match Hope he will do better in the for coming matches
Sascha's soft spot has always been his mindset (after he improved his net game). I hope this was his breakthrough match.
Zverev level on this match was like his performance in ATP finals last year. We'll see how much longer he can sustain it! Carlitos performance so far this year has been insane and I don't think he lost this match definitely Sasha won it fair and square.
now he wont beat his gf
@@velipulla3936 maybe him and Amber Heard would make a good couple 💑
@@velipulla3936 & @AI mac... holy f you guys are lost...the accusations towards zverev are the same as the ones towards johnny depp - evidence-free and contradictory :D looks like your saltiness over zverev's win has made you guys as smart as amber heard
Carlitos? I don' t like this player .he has not achived anything yet.. well done zverev you put him in the place where he belong
Oh yeah. Nothing. He just won two ATP1000 and a ATP500 this year at the age of 19. That is really nothing. I guess you were more succesful at this age right? :-)
This was probably Zverev's best win at a grand slam. He hadn't beaten a top ten player at a slam prior to this match so well done to him. And Carlos should also be proud of his efforts - making quarterfinals at 19 is not bad at all.
He's overhyped
No raducannu is over hyped
@@FL-xc1wk He isn't overhyped. He is 32-4 Win loss this season as a 19 year old. That deserves some hype
@@Divvy21 no. He's also arrogant
@@FL-xc1wk how? He never said he’s the best or anything like that lol
Incredible how an inch more of experience makes all the difference in the crucial moments. Zverev just knew how to navigate those moments with more precision -- plus, like Djokovic, he has the incredible skill of commanding the points with his two-handed backhands. Still, what a run by Alcaraz
And yet Nadal lost to Alcaraz. Clearly experience isn’t the only/main factor.
@@ilovecaulk2542 He means that experience counts on the critical points, not the whole match. For example that tie-break on the 4th set today. Nadal vs Alcaraz was totally one-sided from the beginning
Alcaraz has already won multiple titles against big names so you cant play the experience card here. Zverev was better and thats it
and an inch extra in reach helped him at times too.
And Zverev lost to Tsitsipas. All the top players have their good and bad days, it's going to be a huge rivalry between those 3
I think this was a good reminder for all of us what an in-form Zverev is capable of. That roar at the end is a sign of things to come (I hope).
ZVEREV IS BACK IN THE GAME
@@twowayxaviern3645 If he doesn't get in a fight with himself against Nadal.
In form Zverev was better than this short service line FH balls from and fuzzy backhands except for some bh winners he has shown higher level than this and he knows it too. Alcaraz couldnt get the penetration and power that even Nadal managed against Djokovic when Nole went back to playing safe. Unless Rune or Rudd can hit new levels and Nadal drops off this is number 22 guaranteed. I hope Zverev can find an extra gear and step up to beat Nadal but like that USO should have been his if like Nole didnt back off from both sides but instead go into their Mug wait for other guy to do something. Zverev please serve your heart out.
@@user-dc4sm3lg1z if nadal defeated djokovic he can defeat anyone now. Did u watch today's match
If roars meant anything more than looking like an ape, the rankings would be flipped upside down, buddy 😉
I’m happy for Zverev. So many people were already preemptively giving Carlos the win, myself included. It was awesome to see him prove all of us doubters wrong
Lol 87% of the people including me voted that Alcaraz will win
Why would any one think Carlos would just have an easy walk in the park. I've not seen a teenage as talented or focused as Carlos since watching Boris Becker diving for balls by the net, at Wimbledon, against the top 3 guys... but Zverev still is just peaking himself... no easy task for anyone, even for a prodigy teen.
I honestly thought it would be a Djokovic vs Alcaraz semi final rematch, with Alcaraz winning again. Rafa and Zverev proved us wrong (I know there were people predicting Rafa would win in four, but live odds were in favour of Djokovic).
Almost no men's match from the past two days went the way most of us thought. Had I made a bracket, it would be trashed right now. But hey-- surprises more fun than being right.
@@hello-mv6yg Live odds? Nadal 8 - Nole 2 in RG. 80% chances to lose ...
Zverev' slams experience made an impact, Alcaraz still doesn't have it and it will take time and patience. Zverev looked solid and didn't crumble! He must be happy he broke the curse of beating a top 10 player in a slam! Well deserved victory!

i only ear the folk
zverev footwork today was simply incredible. Unlike Rome, he was well in anticipation whenever Alcaraz did a drop or make the next shot. Previously he assumed it was a winner and was one step behind, today he expected the next ball and was always a step ahead
I think while being exceptionally good from a technical point of view, Alcaraz game is more predictable and an experienced player can take advantage of it.
That was the mother of all tie breaks. Unbelievable stuff.
Congratulations Zverev
Zverev's final backhand and following celebration is just epic! Well deserved big man!
Zverev always the underdog, the one that everyone forgets about.
Well done Alcaraz, but I feel we got a focused Zverev here.
For strange reasons I dont understand thats was one of the most hated players on the tour VS one of the most loved ones, so Im glad the most hated won this 🍾
@@MgoUmk “for strange reasons I don’t understand.” He was accused of abusing his ex girlfriend. Also, even if you believe he’s innocent (which is within your rights obviously) then he’s done plenty of on court shit to give someone a pretty valid reason to dislike him. I believe it hasn’t been 3 months since he directly slammed his racquet into the umpire chair repeatedly after he disagreed with a call.
@@MrPatrickbuit he was wrong about the call to lmao
@@MrPatrickbuit Hate him or not ,you got to agree he is one of the best players when he is on.That's why he beat Novak both time in the Olympics and WTF last year.(4-7 against Djokovic ,3-6 against Nadal)
I have to say tho ,without clear proof and court to justify ,I am not buying that shit ,especially with the Amber/Johnny case recently,of course he is a huge jerk if he did abuse his ex ,but we got no say in this current situation.
As for the outbreak ,I think people are too harsh on him especially they easily associated it with the dv accusation ,which is unfair for him if he didn't do it. Players lost their temper all the time , not saying what he did was right ,but there're much more worse cases than him and didn't get half the shit he got.
@@MrPatrickbuit That was before his personal issues than people hated him. I believe that the people are very "needed of excessive success". Look at Tsitsipas, he had excellent clay court tournaments over the years, with 2 Master 1000 and a Grand Slam Final on clay and now everybody says he is a failure and because he had a bad day. As for the racquet smash, I remember you that Novak does that all the time, in all tournaments since lot of years when his having a difficult time in a match. Do you think this or his personal issues are the reasons people dont like him? I think the issue is merely "sporty" - like , because every now and then he has a bad serve with double faults and/or people are always waiting for him to win everything when he have more ranking than the rival without being able to afford him a disappointment.
Zverev court coverage is amazing in this match. He can reach those deadly dropshots multiple times
Carlito was using drop shots more than ground strokes😂😂😂
@@mechasoftpublisherseducart1276
Zverev was hitting his groundstrokes so well yesterday
Alcaraz had to hit drop shots
Carlos's main problem is he only has one gear which is insane tennis and crazy shotmaking, but when that level isn't firing like normal he doesn't have a lower gear to fall back on and can't play safer balls to grind out the points more, instead he sprays errors while hunting for winners.
He should either develop a safer style of play to pull out when the hyper aggressive default isn't working or just make his hyper aggressive style super consistent so he doesn't ever need to play safer. This match really reminded me of the berrettini match in AO, just going for too much and doesn't realize when he should dial it back a little
But when that gear is firing properly it's such a wonderful thing to watch and he becomes unstoppable
Exactly the same feeling...
He's 19
@@anthonyyusef5897 Yes. And, especially these days, that's very young.
Personally, I like that he goes all-out attack and not play like the bots. Looking forward to seeing him at Wimbledon and on faster surfaces. There's no reason why he can't do lots of serve-volley on those surfaces - with his fantastic volleying....
Agree. Plus he will not run for every point like this endlessly. It will have to settle down and he will need to figure out something else. Zverev is very tall guy so he has much bigger range for running unlike Alcaraz. He is 19 and majority players of his age are trying to chase insane balls but it will be gone in 2 or 3 years and then he will have to start think about the game more. Now he has attitude of "show off" tennis.
bro it's over 3 and a half minutes no way 🤯🤯🤯
Having watched the entire match, what made the difference :
Zverev's absolute world-class backhand helped him win crucial points and prevented Alcaraz from dictating the rallies.
Also his control over groundstrokes, second only to Novak (both FH and BH), and the variations in flight, depth, etc...kept Zverev in control of longer rallies.
In hindsight, though it seemed that Alcaraz was fated to lose this match. He was the more fearless, creative player out there. Zverev almost choked, his second serve was bad, but his groundstrokes eventually gave him the victory.
pretty sure there's players with better ground control, Sinner is amazing at it, Medvedev also but doesn't send back with power like Zverev or Sinner
You forgot to mention Zverevs incredible sprints to retrieve those stops and his wonderful net actions...never seen this kind of speed and reaction...
Zverev second Server points won were way better than Alcaraz. Key for winning the first two sets. The sunset really helped Carlos reach the serves. This Zverev is the best server on the tour (only counting Tennisplayers)
@@michaelutz8256 totally right! if Zverev did not serve so well, Alcaraz would win this match
@@michaelutz8256 i would only count tennis players in the "best server" category too!
Who’d have thought it would be at the quarter final stages where we see to matches in succession that are worthy of a final
Zverev's reaction at the end is priceless. You can see how tough the opponent he is facing.
His own self?
this was a desperate match for Zverev ... if he lost it from 2-0 up, probably he would be mentally finished careerwise given his record in these situations

Best match so far! Great tennis from both, Alcaraz and Zverev🔥
Great tennis from both? It will be for Zverev, because Alcaraz had a shitty game, and it's the truth... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I knew Zverev would come back from his loss eventually. Congratulations to him!
yes will face nadal and rafa will be the champ
I haven't seen this level of tennis from Zverev since last year(US Open). He's back!!!
FH was not firing as it was in those first 2 sets of USO vs Thiem. I havent see Zvev hit FHs as he did then, a shame this area has not improved like Wawrinka has done over the years. Zvev needs to hit that flat crosscourts monsters off both sides as he did to Thiem so many moons back to have a chance vs Nadal but Rafa has too many options to fall back on.
He will choke and fold like he always does
You seem so sure ... we will see on Friday .... maybe he will be BACK !! ... home.
no from the atp finals where he took out djokovic n medvedev, granted med played ass
@@altruismfirst6489 yeah I still remember the first sets against Thiem. Hard to believe that anyone can beat him if he plays like this. I have never seen him that good again since that day. He vaporized prime Thiem in the first two sets. That's why there's still hope for him, he has areas where he is still bad to mediocre. If he can improve that he can really leave a footprint in tennis history.
This is the first time I was really truly rooting for Zverev. Way to go!
Rooting
Cheering for an abuser? Shameful.
What a brilliant match! Well played both - looked thoroughly entertaining!
Literally, alcaraz still needs much patience in big games over his mind and shots too...he was making too many unforced errors even on easy chances and that was the clear reason for his loss today...if he will improve these things,of course he will be a beast in future
Cocky fellow
Easier said than done, but true.
He is a beast for his age honestly to be there doing the things he has done so far. Insane
Alcaraz is clearly WAY better than anyone else has been at his age since Rafa. Probably better, since Rafa was only excellent on clay at that age.
@@kevinmcfarlane2752 Lol Rafa won 2 Masters titles on Hardcourt when it was still best of 5 and also won a Grandslam at that age. He won 11 titles that year. Alcaraz is the next big thing no doubt but nowhere near what 19-year-old Nadal was
I LOVE IT!!! I'm not ready for Alcaraz to be "the man." Good for Alexander Zverev. A super win for him given all the hype about his opponent.
Very well put.
Também não estou preparada pra ver Alcaraz vencendo todas ! E vejo que ele precisa ter mais humildade ! Amei a vitória de zverev !!!
@@maezuca Com toda a adoração que ele está recebendo, será difícil para ele ter humildade.
He's just a hard hitter for now.
@@maezuca Do you talk about Charlie's need to be more humble? hahahaha But you support an aggressive player who hasn't won a single GS at 25 years old. This is really strange, supporting a violent person, saying that a child is not humble!
You can tell that this win meant so much to Sasha. Sweet revenge for their previous encounter. It's good to see him in fighting form. Tough luck for Alcaraz this time but he will probably come back stronger because I believe he has the right mindset and mental fortitude to go far. Great run to him, and on we go, Zverev! Allez!
This rivalry will be new talking point in tennis for next 5 years. Both are top players.
That reaction at the end says it all! Well played Zverev!
This was a game heavy on the serves. happy to see Zverev winning, of course much blessings to the young and talented Alcaraz, this kid is something special
You have to say Zverev's experience showed. Alcaraz, to his credit, was the one looking to attack and his more seasoned opponent was able to take advantage of that. I haven't seen much of Alcaraz but boy does he look so fluid and fluent.
Victory goes to the Determined and Alex was aiming at it right from start.. Sometimes Humbleness will matches for you. This was a perfect💯💯example
Zverev is not humble, just an aggressive player. What world do you live in?
In hindsight, with Rafa injured and out, its kinda sad that we possibly will never see Alcaraz vs Nadal at RG. This was probably the last chance that was going to happen. And it was one match away. Dont even care if Alcaraz would have been destroyed; still would have been nice to see it unfold.
Judging by the highlights and stats, Alcaraz's impatience in crucial points lost him the match, but Zverev's 2nd serve made the difference overall. I highly doubt there's any difference in shot making prowess and mentality between the two.
The only difference being a few more years of experience from Zverev. I honestly think we could be seeing a really exciting rivalry between these two.
Alcaraz also made many mistakes in non-crucial points in the first 3 sets.
Alcaraz surely gonna be stronger than Zverev, just he just needs more time to avoid no forced error..
Impatience, yes. But not just that -- he was an absolute error machine for 2 sets even on regular rally balls.
He was flat from the start, just like Djokovic against Nadal.
Happy for Sascha, who I was supporting.
But, Alcaraz what a lion-hearted warrior, not only did he refuse to give up, but he committed to his attacking game, committed to his game style of closing out points quickly using all options, till the very end. Even Djokovic was tentative in crucial moments against Rafa today, but Alcaraz is of a different breed.
Why do you support a woman abuser?
We have been watching the usual stuff for a long time but now something new with magical shots has finally arrive.
Carlos is a new wonder to watch.

Alcaraz played a good match, Zverev was just better. Alcaraz should have won the 4th set, but I appreciate him fighting back as much as he could. Zverev was just a more experienced player and his experience overmatched Alcaraz.
Of course no disrespect to zverev's amazing match, but Alcaraz was way off his game today. He did an enormous amount of unforced errors and had a lot of problems to keep focused over the entire match

Zverev was quite solid today with few unforced errors and Alcaraz began the match with too many unforced errors.

This match reminded me of the Djokovic- Federer battles. Federer (Alcaraz in this match) is superior in almost all aspects -serve, net game, touch, mid-court game, smash, forehand, etc. But one who has more control over their groundstrokes and is especially able to dictate points through their backhand, ends up the victor. I don’t think I’ve seen Zverev play better than this. I didn’t think Alcaraz could be beaten by anyone but Nadal, but Zverev really stepped it up and grabbed this match, well done and well fought by Alcaraz 👏
